Mini churros are 10/10
Sheree H.

Roller King is an original roller rink for everyone to roller skate and enter competitions. We had a great time here celebrating a friends daughters 8th birthday party! The kids got a good work out in, learning to enjoy physical activity instead of a phone is always a plus.. This place is old school classic roller skating. With the colorful carpets, flashing lights, loud music and tasty pizza and treats for the whole family. Kids rental skates were included in the package so not sure of the pricing but the place was well kept, all the young employees were helpful and informative and all the food I ordered was delicious. Pricing wasn't ridiculous like other venues that host birthday parties, everything was affordable. We tried the fries & chicken tender meal with a fountain soda, came with ranch or bbq. We ordered ice cream with Hershey's syrup, either strawberry or chocolate is avail, as well as the freshly made mini churros. The churros were my favorite 10/10 don't forget to order these. The birthday party included a private room where kids were served Round Table Pizza, soft serve ice cream, and fountain drinks of your choice. They even decorate for you so setting up and clean up is a breeze. There is also a cool game arcade and a couple of claw machines if you're into that as well. I plan on bringing the kids back for more fun and you should definitely bring your family too.

My family and I came out recently for skate night for my grandkids field trip. Such a great turnout I really like this roller rink. This is like my third time coming out here. My grandkids and my son skated the night away. I had so much fun just watching them along with the other kids and family members enjoying themselves. This roller rinks truly provides a safe and family, friendly environment. all of the staff members from those working the skating area to the ones attending the snack bar and even the staff that distribute the skates, all provided great customer service with a smile! You can tell they were very happy to help and they were so attentive to the kids on this night.

Roller King really took me back... I love nostalgia and places that take me down memory lane, so this was a great spot for a sixth birthday party. The environment is reminiscent of roller rinks from my childhood in the 70's and 80's. The differences being prices, menu offerings, music, and number of skaters. Prices are not super reasonable. Other reviews talk about the pizza being brought in from Round Table, which is okay, but doesn't allow for last minute additions of pizza. They do play some older stuff: YMCA and Thriller were standouts, but they incorporated more modern stuff into the mix, too. And the rink wasn't nearly as crowded as I remember it being when I was a kid. Staff is friendly. The place, while being pretty old and dated (I'm not complaining), is kept fairly clean. I think this is a great place to show kids how we used to have a good time when we were their age. So, I guess we'll probably be back!

We came again!!! This time on a Friday night!!! At first we thought it was going to be packed but to our pleasant surprise it was not crowded at all There were not that many children here more of the teenager and adult crowd which didn't matter. Our kids skated non-stop without any issues!! Parking wasn't an issue. Getting alcohol or food or drinks weren't an issue too. Our kids and our cousins kids had a blast.

HBD!

Kids had a great time, but the food/food options were subpar for 2024. I bought extra pizzas from the cafe (which were doughy/not even cooked) and would have just preferred to pay the establishment $60 just to order outside catering. I don't believe it's a liability issue since they order round table (would have been nice to know the initial pizzas were from there &that there was a deadline) and they allow you to bring your own dessert. I already paid for the party and then had to take my kids out to Chipotle after to eat! I understand you don't want to stock your kitchen with salad, but at least give the option for us to order one from round table. They did allow me to order GF pizzas for my nieces, which I DoorDash to the venue. A lot of people eat clean or try to in this day and age and this experience felt too much like the 90's. Evolve, please so we can consider your establishment in the future! I would love to have more birthday parties here in the future, but can't handle the low quality offerings.

We had so much fun even though I fell literally every ten seconds. I was so embarrassed I had to use the kiddie handles and I still fell!!! Everyone was really sweet and helpful. I have no idea what I was thinking going skating after like 20 years of doing it last. Well my butt hurt for weeks. But it was amazing seeing the pros when they do their special skating like gods on ice!! Pretty sure we ordered food. Wasn't to memorable but they probably have a section for kids parties which is cool!! All in all I will be back. Challenge accepted

Nostalgic! Kids had a great time. Place is well kept. They play lots of games to keep everyone interacting. Place is pretty well up-kept. Go have a family night or date night.

Inside the party room! Our hosts were perfect !!! The party room is small..........but just cozy enough for the kids eating. Cute birthday.

Inside of the party room! Our hosts were perfect. They made sure they did all they could for us, even put my banner together. The party room is small.. but just cozy enough for the kids to be eating. It was cute for a bday party.

Air hockey table is the worse I've played on. Ever. Fun theme night. Cheap song requests even if they won't play them sometimes.

Ask the Community - Roller King Skating & Blading

Do you have a specific day/time allotted for adult skate?

Thanks for reaching out. In the summer we do not have a dedicated weekly adult session, but our Fall/Winter schedule does. That schedule will resume August 9th, and then we will have an adults only session on Fridays from 1:00-3:00pm. We also have… Read more

Do you allow rollerblades with black wheels at the rink?

Yes we do.

What's the biggest size skates you guys carry?

For rental it is a size 15, and for purchase we usually try and keep up to a size 13 in stock.

Can I rent out the rink on a Saturday night and how much would that cost?

We offer private parties from 6:00-8:00 pm (depending on the time of the year the times can vary) on Saturdays. The cost varies depending on what your needs are, but generally would run around $675.00.

Do you guys have lockers?

Yes they do

Are you open now?

We are running some public skating again, but with capacity restrictions in place things are a little different than normal. The best option is to go to our website rollerkingroseville.com/schedule.php and from there you can check our times and find… Read more

When are you guys opening again?

For public skating we will have to wait until the county qualifies for the "orange" tier, but we are fighting to have some capacity to open in the "red" tier. Unfortunately that leaves us with no definite date for re-opening yet.

Is this rink operating right down considering everything going on?

We are not yet open for public skating unfortunately.

Are you open during COVID?

We are not yet open for public skating unfortunately.

Can you bring your own skates? And can they have been worn outside?

You are welcome to bring in your skates (provided they are in safe condition) whether they have been worn outside or not.

Is there an adult night?

We do not have a regularly scheduled adult night, but we do have some promoters that host adult nights throughout the year. The next one on the schedule is This Saturday the 15th from 11:30 pm - 3:00 am.

Is there a bar?

Currently we do not serve any alcohol, but I am hoping to add beer and wine in the next year or two.

Will they rent skates to a 2 1/2 year old?

Yes! We have skates down to a toddler size 6 (my 2 year old usually wears the toddler size 8).… Read more

I've rented skates there every time I've gone, and it's been a positive experience. The customer service here is average and is on-par with just about every other recreational facility in the area. Yes, customer service has declined, but it's gone down everywhere else too since the pandemic. Manage your expectations. The food isn't great. It wasn't great in the early 90's and it's not great today. The food isn't any better at any of the other Nor Cal rinks either. Manage your expectations. Yes, the place is outdated but it's not falling apart. I have no idea how they've managed to keep things going with the low prices, but it's $12 because it's outdated. A bathroom renovation in my home just cost me $20k. That's a lot of $12 admissions and I'm sure it'd cost more for a commercial bathroom. Manage your expectations. I read some of the 1-star reviews and it looks like a bunch of the typical champagne taste on a beer budget crowd, or what you'd expect from people with limited grammar or spelling. Manage your expectations. For $12, enjoy it while it lasts, because after it's sold, I'm sure it'll be a lot more expensive, assuming it remains a roller rink. All the people with 1-star reviews will be complaining when it's gone.

I'm honestly so disappointed with our experience at Sunrise Rollerland -- and this isn't even the…read morefirst bad one, just the one that finally pushed me to say something. I grew up in this rink. I was a club skater for over 15 years and spent a huge part of my childhood here. It used to feel like home -- fun, safe, and full of energy. But now? It feels like nobody working there actually cares. The only person who seemed happy to be there was Genevieve (who also happens to be a club skater). Everyone else was either rude, disinterested, or just plain unfriendly. What really got to me, though, was the total lack of standards. There's a dress code posted right outside, yet when I asked about it, the manager (Ellie) told me it was "old" and that people can just wear whatever they want. I'm sorry, but when you have kids skating around, there needs to be some level of respect and boundaries. Adult skate nights? Sure -- go for it. But mixed-age sessions? No. It's not appropriate for someone to be skating around in a bra while little kids are there. And instead of handling it reasonably -- like just asking the person to put on a shirt -- management told her to leave. Which just shows how out of touch they are with how to handle things professionally or with any common sense. It honestly breaks my heart to see how far this place has fallen. The owners (who I heard are selling) should be ashamed of how it's being run. This rink used to mean something to our community. It was a place where kids learned discipline, families made memories, and people felt safe. They probably don't care, but I hope they get to read this and go into their establishment and see for themselves.

Thankfully, one Saturday afternoon my son expressed interest in wanting to go skating. We have a skating rink in close proximity to our home; however, it is fairly small and closes it's doors at 5pm on Saturdays. Therefore, we decided to make the slightly longer drive to The Rink. Once the three of us arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly employee who processed the admission and skate rental fees. After my wife and son obtained their skates (I brought my personal pair), we proceeded to locate the lockers for our shoes. We found the automated lockers that costs $5...yes it is expensive for lockers, but I was more concerned that our fairly pricey shoes did not get stolen. Once our shoes were secured, we made our way to the rink floor. I absolutely love the size of this rink, it allows for individuals of various levels of expertise to co-exist in one place. In the past, I have been to some rinks that are so small that you're afraid that you would topple over little people learning how to skate (not saying that it couldn't happen here - it just seems less likely). While skating, I observed something that I have yet to see at a skating rink...parents walking (no skates) on the rink guiding their little ones. I'm not complaining about this, just mentioning it for anyone reading this and wondering how they can ensure that their little ones are safe while skating. This made for a perfect family activity/outing and I burned 522 calories during our 1.5 hours at The Rink...now that's a win-win!

There's some photo opportunities for young children next to the rink. Not that they have a policy against using phones on the ice rink. Ticket purchasing: this is a cashless ice rink, so they only accept payment online on their website. Skate rentals: After showing them your ticket, you can go pick up your skates at the back of the venue. I believe they mentioned that all skates were men's sizes, so for women you might need a shoe that is one size lower than your normal shoe size. I got a size 7, even though my shoe size is 8.5. My friends noted that there is inconsistency in the level of cushion/comfort in some skates. Crowd/Ice: This ice rink was pretty crowded even at 8 PM on a Sunday on a non-peak holiday time. It didn't seem like they refreshed the ice before our session. Overall, this ice rink was pretty fun and we loved the holiday decor. I don't know that crowd levels are low at any time, but I'd consider prioritizing adult only skating sessions :)
