He was so kind and genuinely cared about my situation; my car was broken into, stolen, then abandoned nearby. No broken windows either. They did it electronically, reprogramming my key fob in the process, and punching my lock in so I couldn't bypass it with my key. Apparently they're showing people how to do it on social media especially (the American-owned) TikTok and they won't take the videos down. They left all of my windows down and I couldn't turn on my car to put them back up again. I called around told my story and everytime I was quoted outrageous pricing after telling them what happened, which car I drove, and of course being a woman. It's really disgusting how some men treat women when it comes to cars & if they think you're desperate for help; they were trying to charge me car note prices to reprogram a simple car fob. Smh. But not Friendly Locksmith! It was affordable and fair. Roy came same day and ASAP after calling him & he reprogrammed my fob in about 10 minutes. I was able to put my windows back up and park my car back in my car port instead of on the street after having my car towed. He also helped me take my battery out of the car, because they like to repeatedly steal cars if it's easy for them (they'll have to tow it away or bring a battery with them next time ). Showed him the key -nothing fancy, just a regular Chevy key on a 2007 usually a quick 20-30$ for anyone to do, even a newbie. Didn't need to be programmed and if it did I said I'd take care of it afterwards on my own, just a required a quick cut. I even brought a blank in-case they had no stock. He became argumentative, and said he needs to ask his technician Will. Well ofcourse, Will wasn't available. Furthermore, he mentioned that he only knows how to cut the keys on older cars and houses. My key was nothing different. Offered to show him on his own machine, then he realized his upcharge scheme wouldn't work. I wanted to entertain what price point he was at after speaking to Will as I've gone to many locksmiths before for much more expensive and involved work. I also read his previous Google reviews on where the owner pulled a bait and switch on-prices to unsuspecting customers. Knowing he's was the owner, I asked him if this is a new business, or if he's been doing it for only a few years. No response, so I opted to not get the work done. He never offered a price. Entertaining ...35+ years in business and your dishonest. You can't cut a regular key, or was it all about "up charging" customers who don't know any better. People are smarter than you think.
