Famiily night and everyone wanted to go out. After debating between sushi, ramen, or curry - we settled on Taiwanese noodles/beef. We have been here several times before and this time we brought the whole gang. Although it was a Friday night, we came earlier than normal and were able to be seated immediately. All the tables were taken, but it wasn't too loud or crazy. Our service was great. I chose their Classic Beef Noodles which were great! The beef broth was flavorful. The beef slice was tender. The noodles were cooked well. Honestly, it was great. The portions could be a little better. So, from a cost-to-value perspective, that could be better. All in all, it was great.
We came here for dinner on a Friday night, and it was exactly the kind of comforting meal we were craving--especially on a cold, rainy evening! We started with the grandpa rolling beef as our appetizer then ordered the wonton noodle soup and Taiwanese pork rice bowl. The beef roll pancake was crispy and flavorful, and I loved the fresh vegetables inside, which added a nice contrast to the crunchy exterior. The wonton soup was delicious, with tasty wontons and a rich, comforting broth. The pork bowl was moist, flavorful and filling. The restaurant wasn't too busy when we visited, so the service was quick and attentive. Everyone was friendly, and our food came out promptly. We really enjoyed our dinner here! The meal was satisfying and filling without feeling too heavy, making it the perfect comfort food for a rainy night.
Food is AMAZING. This has got to be the best Taiwanese spot on island. First off, the decor of the place is beautiful and I love how you can spot all the different lanterns, tea leaves and dragon art designs right when you walk in. It isn't just a food experience, but it feels like you are being transported to another world. The food is extremely delicious and well seasoned and flavored. Staff is also nice as well. And there are plenty of seating. One complaint I would have is the portions are a little bit small, but not too bad. I was pleasantly surprised that their pork chops were not too dry, it had the perfect crunch to flavor moist ratio!
It was KISMET we ended up here! This was hands down one of the best Taiwanese restaurants I have ever been to! My family was in the area to shop over at Crafts Way and I found Fooki on Yelp as a nearby food option. It had something for everyone in our group of seven: 2 vegetarians, 1 vegan and 4 meat eaters. The restaurant had a divy vibe, cozy and welcoming. The service was very friendly and the server was incredibly knowledgable about their menu and how what made some of their dishes stand out from what's expected. The Li Hing Mui Sweet Potato Fries are a must! They totally reminded me of my childhood and the kind of fries I'd get at the amusement park back in Taiwan. Here's everything we ordered. Every single item was a hit! -stewed egg -stewed tofu -Majiang noodles -Lu Rou Fan -Grandpa Rolling Beef -Scallion Pancake -Fooki Bao -Tofu Bao -Li Hing Mui Sweet Potato Fries -Veggie Scallion Noodles -Fooki Bowl -BoomBoom Chicken If we ever find ourselves back in Aiea again, we will be stopping in!
I've always wanted to try this place because I love Taiwanese food. But maybe because I had such high expectations, I was pretty disappointed with everything. First, the price was pretty high compared to the amount of food they served and the flavor of their menu. The pork rice bowl had way too much rice compared to the pork, and I think I only had half of the rice to eat with the pork on top. All the foods we ordered wasn't very flavorful either and they charged 3% for credit cards. The economy is tough right now so that may explain the card charge and the portion size but I don't think I'll be going to this place again. It was good to try but wasn't impressionable!
He said it and they listened. Back in 2020, Elite Yelper Rod U. shared his valuable opinion on the food and pricing at this establishment. As any good manager would, they took his review and made improvements. For shareable starters, we ordered three appetizers. Their Boom Boom Chicken is excellent! Generous portion, great crunch on the outside, tender and tasty on the inside, and seasoned with that signature Taiwanese flavor. We finished every delicious morsel. Then we shared the Mala Wonton. If you like heat, this has a chili kick to it. Generous portion of dumplings topped with a spicy chili sauce, green onions, and sesame seeds. I normally don't eat spicy but glad to try this one. The most favorite dish at the table, enjoyed by everyone, was their fried fish filet. Again, another generous portion of something shareable. But after you tasted this fish, you might not want to share. Order this up for yourself! A few days after our delicious dining experience, our dinner guest said, "I feel like ordering a bunch of that fried fish from Fooki. That taste was incredible!" He also had the ox rib soup which had meaty portions of tender beef ribs. The broth was excellent and they served this with a side of rice and grated ginger dipping sauce. I had the mushroom noodle soup. When I requested this, our server made sure to tell me that it was beef broth in case I was a strict vegan. Oh this was a nice warm bowl of yummy comfort. Generous tender noodles with a nice balance of mushrooms and baby bok choy. Glad I tried it! Last but not least, we had the Trio Cup Chicken. This was full of flavor and easily feeds two people. Tender chicken bites seasoned in sweet soy glaze, garlic, and basil. Will totally come back to have more. Thank you everyone at Fooki. We enjoyed our meal and wonderful customer service. You will see us again, as we really enjoyed the tasty food, especially your fried fish filet!
Always love coming to this place for a quick and simple meal. Their soups are delicious and quite filling for the price. Service is quick and inside is nice. There is plenty of parking surrounding the area in the Pearl Kai shopping plaza. Usually order their classic beef noodle soup and can't go wrong with it.
Our daughter is a picky eater and loves Asian food. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. They opened at 11am. We came here for lunch. Decor is a bit outdated. The staff all spoke English and Mandarin. We ordered 3 items shrimp, pork and chives dumplings - plump and you can tell they are very much homemade. Came with a housemade dipping sauce. I thought this was just okay. Popcorn chicken - Comes with a lot and well done. Our daughter loved it and ate half of the chicken. Stir fried veggies - This was very good although also a bit homey. Something my parents would make at home. Service was fine. They did give my toddler utensils/bowl/plate. Surcharge for credit card so we paid in cash. I did feel this place was a bit costly. $16 for the veggies and $22 for the dumplings.
I picked up the Minced Pork Noodles for lunch during the week. The texture of the noodles were great for getting this as take out, but the overall dish was a little bland for my liking. The portion was great and the right amount for me for lunch. I liked the Mala Wonton Noodles from the last time I went, but it was too spicy so I just got a side of Mala sauce to add to my dish. This restaurant is located in Pearl Kai Shopping Center so there is a lot of available parking. Overall Fooki is a great spot for lunch or dinner and will definitely go back.
Fooki our favorite Taiwanese restaurant . We brought some out of town guests to have lunch. They loved it . Service was great. We ordered the MaLa Wontons and the Grand Pa Beef Rolls for appetizers. They were delicious. For entrees we tried the Classic Wonton bowl, the Classic Beef bowl, the Monster Pork Chops, the 3 Cup Chicken, and Fooki Pork Belly bowl. All were perfectly prepared and delicious. But the Pork Chops were exceptional. Crispy outside but tender and moist inside. The rice that accompanied it was equally tasty and delicious. Nicely decorated dining room. Highly recommend
I've been seeing posts about this place and had to try it. If you've also been seeing these posts and are debating whether or not to go, you should definitely listen to your gut and go. They seem to be known for the Cow Wow noodle soup, so I ordered that along with an order of the Fooki bao. They were both so good. The noodle soup had a lot of toppings in there, so it was definitely filling. The soup base is tasty but a little on the lighter side, which was pretty refreshing, especially since I had it for lunch. For take-out, they separate the soup from everything else for you to keep everything from getting soggy. I really liked the bao. The buns and the pork were nice and soft and were complimented by the crunchy texture of the toppings. The flavors had a bit of power from the pickled mustard, which was what made it so good. The online ordering was easy to use. There's a little take out window at the entrance of the restaurant. If you order online, you can just go there and they'll hand up your order. It's a painless and efficient system. I'll definitely be coming back again! read more
We came here after watching the sunset at the electric beach. Made a reservation via phone call right before we went. I ordered the signature cow wow noodle soup. They were very very generous about the beef. The beef was super tender and flavorful. For the spicy level, I chose mild and it was very manageable. It's a highly recommend! We also ordered the grandpa rolling beef. It was pretty good too. Have recommended this place to a couple of friends already and will continue doing so! read more
Wow I was blown away by the food here! I had the COW WOW noodle soup which was loaded with soft delicious meat and had a soft egg inside with noodles. It was absolutely delicious and I ate everything and gnawed on the bones like a savage. Luckily we did takeout so I didn't embarrass my wife too badly. My wife got the Fooki Belly bowl which was soft pork belly over rice with some pickled vegetables. It was glorious! I haven't had Taiwanese food very often but am excited to try more! I need to go back and try their monster pork chop. This place is a total winner, check it out!! read more

Came to Fooki due to a friend's raving review. Located in the Pearl Kai shopping center, central for some but a little of a trek if from town compared to eating in Chinatown. Ample parking in the center. Fooki definitely had very strict COVID practices: fill out inquiry and temperature check prior to entering, sanitizer and sanitizing between patrons, socially distanced tables. Milk tea with amber boba $5. My friend raved about this. It was okay. Double delight pot stickers $11 for five pieces. Very tasty though meat was chewy. Three of them had very chewy pieces of meat where two seemed to have more ground meat. The menu did say a combination of pork and beef. Fooki won ton noodle soup $12.50. Noodles could have had a better bite to them. They were either boiled a minute too long or I took too long taking pictures. Won ton filling was a little mushy. Broth lacked flavor. Perhaps I should have gotten the MaLa spicy option. Overall $35 for lunch for a party of one. Maybe due to the raving review, I was underwhelmed. Some hole in the wall in Chinatown for a fraction of the cost would be better. read more
What is Fooki? I found no answer but Fook means good luck in Chinese so Fooki must mean luck-y. When this pandemic thing happened I saw Fooki was had a grand opening and then closed and then reopen for takeout only and finally open again for dining. I was excited to try this place after seeing so many good reviews from Yelpers. I did call for reservation. I would recommend that you do too just because this place is small and they'll have your information already so it makes things easier for everyone. And when we left after 6pm, it started to get busy. The servers are superb here. They served you as if you're at a high end restaurant by running through the menu for the first timer like us and check on us often. Our server pointed out all the popular items. They have some creative, Taiwanese fusion dishes here. I ordered the Cow Wow Noodle (beef noodle soup) because that's what all you Yelpers raved about. You can either get it non-spicy, spicy or really spicy. I got mines non-spicy. Keep in mind that this is a Taiwanese restaurant. For Hawaii, this is the best Taiwanese beef soup you'll get. It comes with generous portion of beef with bone and brisket, veggies, and tendons served over thin udon like noodle. It was awesome to my taste. It reminded me of this noodle place in Las Vegas. I will return for more Fooki. read more
During a pandemic, online ordering makes everything easier and Fooki definitely makes it easy to order their food. I ordered through their website & an estimated time was given. They called 10 minutes earlier because the food was done ahead of time, yay! I combed through the Yelp reviews and pictures to help choose our lunch and we were definitely not disappointed. It was our first time trying food from a Taiwanese restaurant so we were open minded. What we ordered: Grandpa rolling beef: DELICIOUS. It reminded me a lot of Peking duck except with beef and a tortilla instead of duck and a bun. The hoisin sauce and veggies in the roll all work together amazingly well. Boom boom chicken: Even after the 20 minute trip home, the chicken was still crispy! The salt/seasoning topping was delicious and the dipping sauce complimented the chicken well. Veggie scallion noodles: A great choice for vegetarians, and my mom loved it. Keep in mind it's heavy on the scallions and onions. Hence the name. Cowwow noodles: Being Vietnamese this reminded me a lot of Bun bo hue, the spicy beef noodles. The noodles tasted super fresh and the bowl is loaded with beef! We added an extra egg (it comes with one) and it was cooked to perfection. The bok choy was also a great addition! & Mango flan: this tasted more like a cake with mango topping rather than a flan. Came here on a Sunday at 1:40pm for dine-in. I don't believe they take reservations. You check in and put your name down at the window before they let you in. We waited about 10min before someone came to take down our name. It was frustrating because the process wasn't very clear but once they take down your name and information, it seemed that it basically means they are cleaning a table to seat you right away which is nice. There are about 6-7 tables available. Service is super friendly a quick. Dishes are all disposable. The food was good, definitely reminds me of my time in Taiwan and brought back good memories. - Mala Wonton: I was pleasantly surprised the spicy dishes is in fact spicy though I do wish there were more wontons and less cabbage :). - The Chubby Rib Bowl was disappointing. I feel that it was on the bland side and lacked flavor profile however there was a lot of meat and it was very tender. Egg was delicious. Next time, I would definitely stay away from the rice dishes and try the noodles since that seems to be this restaurant's specialty. - Highlight of my meal was actually the Sesame Frap which I was not expecting! Super delicious and perfect for a hot day. Not overly sweet, it was just right. read more
Fooki is a relatively new restaurant in the Pearl Kai Shopping Center. We made lunch reservations for Saturday at 11:30. They asked us if an hour time limit would be okay when we made our reservations. I guess they really are busy! They have many Covid precautions in place. The contact tracing forms, hand sanitizer and they take your temperature upon entering. I ordered the Beef Scallion Noodles, my daughters got the Mala Wonton and Boom Boom chicken plate. The food was good and the service was good too. They use plastic bowls and paper plates, not really good for our environment, but I guess it makes clean up easy for their staff. We wanted to take some food home and asked for a container and they charge for the take out container! If you don't want to pay for it, they give you tin foil to cover your plate. read more

Fooki means blessings and happiness. Yes the food here will fill you with blessings and happiness. And I'm confident your stomach will second that. Here they serve traditional Taiwanese food with a western twist. First let's talk about their hours and service. Dine-in service is available at dinner from Tuesday through Sunday. If you want to come in for a quick lunch? Only available over the weekend. I'd recommend to call ahead of time to make a reservation in case if there's any changes. Don't make the same mistake we did. But once you are there you will be welcomed with outstanding service. Our server Micki treated us like VIPs. Actually I thought I was dining at a 5-star restaurant when she came to go over the menu items with us. She knew the menu very well and gave us recommendations based on our preferences. And always checked on us to see if we needed anything. We were perplexed taking the first glance at the menu. Cow wow? Trio colored? Grandpa rolling beef? But when we read the description we realized they're mostly traditional Taiwanese dishes that we're familiar with albeit their fancy names. And man they did not disappoint us. So Micki meant it when she said almost every single table orders the grandpa rolling beef. I don't usually like the beef roll but the one here was so fooooking good. Tender juicy meat with crispy crust and the brilliant touch of the hoisin sauce. Cow wow noodles soup and fooki belly bowl also exceeded our expectations. Meat was so tender that they melted in my mouth. You may say "cow wow! Almost $20 for a bowl of noodles?" It's a little pricy but they were very generous with the meat and tendon I could barely finish it. And I could tell they indeed simmered the broth for 12 hours, if not more. And I felt like I was transported back to the old Asia the moment I stepped foot inside the restaurant because of the neon sign light. Used to see seas of neon signs out of my apartment during childhood. So I love Fooki also due to nostalgic reason. And if you sit next to the windows you may even see the trains performing test run! read more
2020 Pandemic Review (aka Take Out) Saw the new store front a several months ago and was curious about what type of food would be served in a restaurant named Fooki. Located in the Pearl Kai complex across Kam Hwy from Pearlridge it has ample parking and easy access. Food: Looking through their online menu, several options caught our eye. We ordered the Chubby Rib Bowl, Trio-Cup Chicken, and the Grandpa Rolling Beef. The braised beef in the rib bowl was very tender, full flavored with a hint of anise, served with a soft egg, and braised tofu over rice. The Trio Cup chicken was stir fried chicken thighs with fresh basil, tender, prepared well, and a good dish to share. The Grandpa Rolling Beef was our favorite, braised beef shank wrapped in a grilled scallion pancake the brought just the right amount of crunch. Service: We ordered take out via door dash but food was prepared quickly, delivered hot and fresh, and arrangement was as nice as possible in take out containers. Social Distancing: Couldn't say as we didn't visit the establishment but they do deliver via Door Dash which makes it very convenient. The food was delivered promptly with no problems with the order. Value: Decent value, most plates coming in under $15. Generous portions, food is season well and cooked nicely, I will need to try the noodles next time as those look pretty tasty but I would prefer to eat those dishes on site. Overall: Nice addition to the area, can't say we have anything remotely close to this in the Aiea/Pearl City area. Definitely need to explore more menu options and visit one day in the future! read more

Love the service and the yummy food! We shared everything. We came at a perfect time. No line at all. We had the Grandpa Beef roll, scallion pancake, boom boom chicken, braised cow wow beef noodle and chef's special this week, seafood laksa. It was a lot of food and it did not disappoint. The beef roll was a nice refreshing starter. The scallion pancake was a little underwhelming but I always love scallion pancakes so no biggie. The chicken was tasty and the sauce complemented it well, but not necessary. Both soups were rich and yummy. The beef was so tender. The seafood was cooked perfectly in the laksa. We also got fruit teas and adjusted the sweetness to our liking, which I appreciate. And we got the black sesame ice cream! Yummm! Will return! read more

Tasty food! Came here for casual lunch on a weekend and all of the tables were filled. Only had to wait 5 minutes and got seated at the bar. Service was quick. We ordered the tofu bao, veggie scallion noodle, and grandpa rolling beef. It'd recommend sharing all of the dishes so you can try more things. Everything is really tasty and my favorite was the tofu bao. Can't wait to return to try more dishes. read more
I drove my butt out to Pearl Kai shopping center to get a taste of Taiwanese food. The entrees were good but just wasn't my cup of tea. It's probably because I'm ignorant about what Taiwanese food is. The pork chops were absolutely delicious though. I'm not sure what they put in there but it should win some sort of award. I've heard about Fooki a while back and have been wanting to try it for a while now. We don't have many Taiwanese restaurants here (that I know about) so I was excited to see a new, modern one popping up. Located in Pearl Kai Shopping Center, there is a lot of parking available. The shopping center is located across from the Pearlridge Sears. We placed an order online and it took about 20 minutes for the food to be ready. After looking on yelp, it looked like the most popular dishes were the Boom boom chicken, the grandpa rolling beef, and the Cow wow beef noodle. We decided to get the first two - boom boom chicken ala carte, grandpa rolling beef, classic original beef noodle, and chubby rib bowl. For two people it was a lot of food, but we went all out to try all the different dishes! The restaurant has a takeout window where you can grab your order without having to go into the restaurant. When I arrived, the food wasn't ready, but I only waited about 5 more minutes for them to finish the order. Pick up was fast and easy - they called my name when the order was ready and we went home to eat it! The food smelled so good in the car ride home, I was tempted to open up everything in the car! The boom boom chicken is a classic taiwanese chicken. Crispy with a lot of spices, it reminded me of my trip to Taiwan. I loved the crispy garlic (?) pieces on the side. The ala carte option came with a generous portion of chicken. The grandpa rolling beef dish is a scallion pancake stuffed with beef and veggies. While the price is a bit on the pricer side, the flavor of the dish was delicious - the beef was tender and the sauce on top was very reminiscent of Taiwan. For our two entrees, we chose a rice and noodle dish to try. The Chubby Rib bowl is a rice dish that comes with ribs, veggies, and a runny egg. We were really excited for this dish based on yelp reviews, but we thought the ribs were a bit dry. The dish comes with extra boneless beef that was very tender compared to the ribs. This one was my least favorite dish out of all of them. It's also priced at $18 which we thought was a bit expensive for the dish. Lastly, we tried the classic original beef noodle which reminded me of an oxtail soup. I noticed that a lot of the reviews were about the Cow Wow noodle which is more expensive, but we aren't big fans of tendon so we opted for the cheaper option. The beef broth was nice and light, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The beef was very tender and we would order this again for sure! I also got an iced tea latte with boba. The milk tea was so good! Probably one of the best I had on island in my opinion. The tea had a slight floral taste which was really refreshing. The boba was a bit mushy, but had good flavor. The food portions were very generous in my opinion and I would come back for sure! Definitely give this place a try! read more

I went here with a gf for dinner recently and we ordered a few appetizers and the braised beef cow wow soup to share. We ordered the popcorn chicken, deep fried pork chop, sweet potato fries, and rolling beef appetizers. I really enjoyed the popcorn chicken because it was very flavorful, juicy, and tender. The braised beef cow wow soup was very tender but not sure if it was worth $5 more for braised option. The sweet potato fries was interesting drizzled with li hing mui powder. I love the noodles here! Rich, deep broths. Tender braised beef, soft perfect egg, lots of veggies and cilantro. Noodles just right a little chewy but soft! I loved the texture! Take out here very easy. Ordered online, paid and pick up at a window located outside! Wear your mask please! Packaged neatly and nicely! Even got a $3 piece of mango flan! In the midst of COVID-19, Fooki is up and running via take-out only. They were very friendly when I called to place my order. We tried the monster pork chop plate, Grandpa's rolling beef, and the mushroom noodle soup. The monster pork chop was on the dry side for the deep fried monster pork chop plate. Grandpa's rolling beef is delicious. I especially loved the scallion pancake, but the beef inside was tough even though thinly sliced! I enjoyed the mushroom noodle soup with beef broth. It was subtlely flavored with all the condiments included! Perhaps I will enjoy their offerings better when we dine in in the future! read more
Saw this gem of a place on TIKTOK and had to try it out. If you love spicy food GET The MALA SPICY WONTONS! Everything was soooo good! So much flavor and quality in the food and generous serving sizes! They have a variety of caffeinated beverages to choose from so I got the LOVE YOU MATCHA! Dine in is available and the inside decor and music really sets a good vibe! Plenty of parking and the customer service is WORLD CLASS! If you see the cool shirts the waitstaff has on GRAB ONE! They are so pretty! My bf and I grabbed one for each of us :) Definitely coming back here! read more

We've been this restaurant a number of times and it never disappoints. The service is always prompt and friendly. The food come generally one or two dishes at a time and although it seems to take a little bit long, the dishes are prepped fresh and after order. We had the Garlic Stir Fry Veggies, BoomBoom Chicken, Mala Wonton Noodles and Beef Scallion Noodles. The Chicken was crispy and tasty, Veggies perfectly cooked, both noodle dishes are cooked al-dente with the Mala being spicy, as expected, and the Beef noodles mild but tasty. The only comment we had was that the beef could have been sliced a little thicker. We have had a number of other dishes in the past, and they have all been great. We cannot think of any dish that we cannot recommend. For those that like "spicy," I highly recommend asking for a side of their spicy sauce. Came for lunch as soon as they opened. Ordered the Mala wonton noodles which were soo good. The wontons were filled with lots of meat and the spicy mala sauce paired really well with it. They give lots of noodles and I was very satisfied with my meal. Wanted to end the meal with milk tea but was a bit disappointed that they didn't have all of their flavors available that day. No worries tho I got the black milk tea which still really good and the tea flavor was strong which I liked. Our waiter did tell us that he was the only one working that day and so that he wouldn't be able to be as attentive as they got busier. I loved the vibe of this place and definitely want to come back to try more noodles! read more
Original. Straight to the food. The Signature "cow wow noodle soup", AKA signature beef noodle soup is unique, different, interesting. Greatness distorted by the addition of sour cabbage to the broth. Think of it as adding pickle juice to an otherwise amazing beef soup. --Noodles - Toothsome, wide rice noodles that rapidly soak in the broth and gain flavor. --Tendon - Slightly undercooked with crunchy bits. --Beef shank - Very well braised, not stringy or dry. Obviously removed during the cooking process, allowed to cool then sliced before being added back to the finished product. Dense and beefy. --Beef short rib - Perfect braise. Very flavorful, juicy, fall off the bone tender with well rendered fat. --"Sweetheart egg" - Five spice tea egg. Soft boiled interior, subtle tea notes on the exterior that is obliterated by the broth. --Broth - Powerful. Loaded with beef fat. Pronounced flavors of cinnamon, ginger, garlic, Sichuan peppercorns, white pepper, dark soy and doubanjiang (spicy bean paste). Loads of cilantro leaves, stems and roots, add vegetal richness. The broth isn't concentrated enough to give them flavor. Finally, the "Grandpa rolling beef", good. Braised beef shank with hoisin rolled in a chewy scallion pancake. Prices are very high considering this is Taiwanese street food. COVID Note: Order and pay online. Pickup at the takeaway window (right before their front door) so you don't need to breath the same air as maskless dine in guests. Worthy of a try? Sure. Who would have thought 2020 would have been the year where we became appreciative of dining in at a restaurant? My friend and I decided to check it out during their opening due to no crowds for lunch. Score! We were greeted, temp checked, and asked a few questions regarding to health. Some may say this is a hassle however I'm appreciative that restaurants are trying. Menu consists of different Taiwanese fusion dishes such as noodle soups, baos and more. Also they have drinks such as different teas, boba, and more. We decided to try their lihing sweet potato fries, pineapple bun chicken burger, and the spicy wonton noodles. The lihing aoili is for the win! I love lihing so this was great! I do wished they gave more fries especially for the price. The chicken burger was interesting however with all the toppings, it was a bit overpowered by the different flavors. It's huge size you can share it! The chicken didn't have much flavor but it was crispy and juicy. We enjoyed the spicy wontons noodles. The flavor was really good and had a good amount a spice. Can do a little spicer however it was still flavorful. Overall for a new place and new option for Aiea, it's a nice start. The service was attentive and always checked in with us. It was cool that the owner was talking to each table and asked us for our recommendations and input. The atmosphere reminded me of some places in downtown. Depending on what you order the prices are kind of steep especially knowing you can get similar food cheaper. If you're looking for Taiwanese food in the Pearl Ridge area, check out Fooki in Pearl Kai across from Pearl Ridge shopping center. Lots of parking, social distancing and safety protocol. Food was very tasty and fast friendly service. We tried the COW WOW and Three Spice Chicken. Very tasty! I think the next time we'll try the Beef Noodle and have a bubble drink or a Taiwan tea. read more
From the first pics found on Yelp, I knew I had to eat here. Unfortunately, I'm a bit late to the plate and dine in is not available. That's OK, I decide to call in an order. I call and call while in town with no success. That's OK, I'll stop by. There's a crowd outside and when I get to the window I was told the wait is an hour. I didn't have that kind of time so I left. Next day I try my luck again and call from town. Yay, they picked up! I already took notes on all the dishes and drinks I wanted so the order went smooth. They were thorough. Got all my info, reconfirmed my order and gave me a time to pick up. An hour. So we did some Pokemon raids in the area, browsed Walmart and next thing I knew they called. Right on time too! I really wanted to love this spot. The drinks were alright. The food was all OK. I probably had too high hopes from all the pics and reviews. I can't remember if I've have Taiwanese food before. Its very flavorful, just different spices than I'm used to. The only thing I know I'd come back for is Grandpa's Rolling Beef. I couldn't figure out what its made from exactly but it is good! The food was filling. Enough to feed 5 of us sharing and still have left overs for lunch the next day. Prices seem about right for everything I ordered. Customer service, from what I experienced was great. From the phone order, to picking up with our short encounter. Everything was very smooth. Parking whenever I visit Pearl Kai is alright. Easy finding stalls and they aren't super tight. I'd say give it a try. You'll never know if this could be your new fave. I'll def be back for that rolling beef tho! read more
Taiwanese restaurants are such a rarity on this island so once I heard about Fooki opening up, my friends and I immediately made plans to go! They were orginally open for dine-in but because of the recent increases of COVID-19 cases, they decided to do take-out only. It's located in Pearl Kai shopping center and definitely hard to miss; the place is HUGE. Plentiful parking too so that's a plus. They have a take-out window where you can easily put in your order. I decided to order their Bomb Bomb Chicken Plate and the name definitely did it justice because their chicken was BOMB! It was bursting with flavor and surprisingly was still crispy and juicy considering I didn't get to eat it right away. I love how they included some crispy chicken skin which was heavenly to eat It comes with a sweet dipping sauce, a braised egg (delish) and some sauteed veggies. It didn't look like much but I was struggling to finish the last couple pieces of chicken but I forced myself to finish because it was so good! New place we heard was pretty good and wanted to try something new. We admire how they take precautions measures during the pandemic. There is a window before the entrance where you log in for contact tracing and temperature check before entering. Tables are social distancing and service wore their masks and gloves. The layout is open, really awesome art work on the wall of a Foo dog and nice decor. Friendly service as well. We've ordered two dishes which featured great reviews.. Beef Noodle Soup and Monster Pork Chop Plate along with Vietnamese Iced Coffee. The taste was pretty okay however it was an interesting flavor for both. The pork chops (2) were breaded and huge! the beef bone was big too but was a bit hard to cut the meat off the bone and had to hold it so I could get a chunk out of it, which I didn't mind. So freaking good!! Everything was super delicious and I would definitely come back. The shrimp pork chive dumplings were cooked perfectly and had whole pieces of shrimp inside. The noodles in the cow wow original soup noodles were such a nice texture. The boba drinks were very delicious and pair perfectly with the food. Service was excellent and quick. Driving by Pearl Kai, I noticed Fooki right away. The name itself caught my attention plus it was nice to see a new Asian restaurant in Aiea. My bf and I decided to try it on Sunday night. We were surprised they were still open as most restaurants close pretty early now. Fooki literally just opened up a few days ago so it was their soft opening. I'm always hesitant to try new restaurants especially in the beginning but I was feeling spontaneous that night lol. Upon entering, they took our temperature and asked us a few questions which wasn't a bother at all. I'm glad they are being cautious at least! The restaurant itself was nice.. and we learned that the food was actually Taiwanese fusion. So I love Taiwanese food and especially Taiwanese drinks aka bubble tea. They had several options for drinks.. the Luv You So Matcha and the Tiramisu Cold Brew caught my eye. I already had my coffee for the day so I didn't want to order anything but my bf wanted to try their milk tea. The owner (?) insisted we try it as they use real milk where as I guess other milk tea places don't? We also decided to get their Cow Cow Noodle Soup which is a braised beef noodle soup. I got the original and my bf got braised so we could have a taste of each. The owner also suggested their MaLa wontons so we decided on getting that as well. Okay so it probably isn't fair to give them a 3 stars so soon because they are *very* new. But this is just based on my first impression and will probably come back to give them another chance. Presentation wise everything looked amazing!! But for some reason I felt like something was lacking with each dish. Although it was flavorful... I felt like it needed like an extra something. My bf's soup had a bit more flavor than mines so I kept sipping on his broth. The MaLa wontons were not bad and I loved how they put a lot of veggies and cabbage.. but once again, something felt missing. Their milk tea.. it was light and not too sweet. My bf really liked it. I'm a little pickier and I like mines to be a little more creamier. But there was nothing wrong with it. As for the price point.. I did think for the noodle soup, $18 and $19 was a little pricey when I could eat something for cheaper and a little tastier in Chinatown. Portions are generous though! And service was great. The staff was very welcoming and they explained each dish to us which was helpful. Since it was a soft opening, they were giving 15% off so that was nice. Overall, it was good but not great. I went to the soft opening on July 3. I've passed by this place multiple times during it's construction and was wondering what was opening up here. The staff will require a covid screening prior to entering the restaurant including temperature checks. There was ample seating when we arrived at opening time and the staff was so nice. There was only a two page menu since it was their first day, but there was enough variety to get an idea of what dishes they have. I ordered the spicy pork bowl, thinking it was going to be "korean style", but the bowl came with Thai style ground pork on rice. It also came with a sweetheart egg which is marinated in black tea for two days (not japanese style) We also got the boom boom chicken as an appetizer. It was really good like spicy popcorn chicken. My son got the trio cup chicken bowl, which he gave a thumbs up. The food was okay and the service was excellent, I will probably try different menu items when I come back. read more

We were there today (5/10/22) a little before 5 PM - door was chain locked from the outside, but the restaurant's neon sign said OPEN. Peeked inside and no one. No servers, no customers. Are you guys still in business?
That's odd- they are closed on Mondays but should be open 430p.
