The food here is really good. I had a hard time finding good Chinese food in American Fork. We ordered takeout from Fong's on a whim and the service, price and flavor were very good. We ordered take out through Uber Eats. This was the first time using this service. I was impressed with how well the food came packaged. The containers did not leak on the drive to my house and everything came in its own compartment in the takeout containers so nothing was mixed together. The restaurant also included utensils, fortune cookies, napkins, and soy sauce. The food arrived warm. I had hot and sour soup with my orange chicken bento box. The hot and sour soup was very watered down so there was not much flavor. I added pepper, hoping that would help. Sadly, it did not. The soup did have a fair amount of mushrooms and bamboo shoots. The bento box came with a main entree and allowed you to chose three different sides. Uber Eats did not list the sides so I had to call the restaurant to find out what sides since there website did not list the sides either. The choices of sides were egg roll, steamed rice, ham fried rice, pot stickers, cream cheese wontons, or lo mein. I chose steamed rice, egg roll, and lo mein. The egg roll was nice and crispy. The sweet and sour sauce was a nice addition to the egg roll. The steamed rice was cooked perfectly. The lo mein was soft with a little crisp cabbage and onions in it. I added soy sauce to it for some added flavor. The orange chicken was good. I was hoping for more orange flavor. I added some Sambal chili sauce to help add flavor to the sauce. My husband had pad Thai. He said it was flavorless and bland. He had to force himself to eat his food. I do not think we will be eating here again but appreciate the effort the restaurant took to make our dining experience great. read more

We had a really nice waiter while dining here and the food was delicious. We decided to go with the Nine Flavor Beef and House Lo Mein, which was great to eat family style. Both were tasty, but I did think that the presentation of the Nine Flavor Beef could have been better, since it looked like a bunch of tasty and beautiful slices of beef laid out on a plate of gravy. The gravy is yummy, don't get me wrong, but I feel like it should be served on the side to not detract from the look of the beef. They have a lot of good selections from different walks of Asian cuisine and rather than feeling overwhelming and disconnected like other restaurants I've seen do a similar thing, this feels manageable and a little more focused. The orange chicken was pretty good! It even had slices of orange to make it feel more authentic than many other types of Chinese places I've been. This place was referred by a super-friendly cashier at Smith's (Lehi) named Travis - thanks Travis!! We finally made it to this place tonight. We gravitated towards the Bento Box section of the menu, as it gave us a lot of options to try a handful of entrees. For dinner prices it was excellent too! We had: General Tso chicken, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, Lo mein, Ham fried rice, Mongolian beef, California rolls, and I also had to throw in a separate order of Dragon roll. We were pretty blown away with their Mongolian beef - it's seriously the best we have ever eaten. ANYWHERE. The beef is super fresh, and not one piece of fat or grizzle. The flavor was superb! It's prob my most FAV! The general tso and orange chicken were also fantastic - you can tell it's made fresh, and it had the right amount of batter to it. Lo mein was also impressive, particularly that they don't put too much cabbage in there (we like more noodles than cabbage!) so this was a HIT for us! Most Chinese restaurants have more cabbage than noodles in their Lo Mein, but not here! California roll and dragon roll were as expected - and they also had the option of having light soy sauce (aka low sodium) - also another sign that this place is doing it right. I had the privilege of meeting the owner, Walter. He is super personable, kind, relatable, and was just fun to have a conversation with! We gave him some feedback on the food and was super appreciative and just plain GENUINE. He really made you feel that he appreciated us as customers. In addition, our server was super attentive (Elissa or Elizabeth?) and had good feedback in regards to the food. So very disappointed. It was a special occasion and we wanted to celebrate at a fun and tasty place. Fongs looked good! After a forty minute wait for a table, we were excited that it must be a great place being so busy. We sat, and waited another 20 minutes to order. It was okay since the 11 of us were having fun. Then... The tea arrived after another 30 minutes... Ice cold. We told them, we were leaving, and they begged us to stay, insisting the food would be pipping hot... Came here at lunch with co-workers. The short story is it is better than average Americanized mild Asian food. My dish was mostly Chinese. There's no reason to even try to use the chopsticks. The frozen carrot/pea mix used in everything is too small to pick up with chopsticks. There is enough other fresh items to make up for it. The shrimp weren't overcooked. It wasn't overly sweet. So, I'd come back with friends at lunch, but I don't see myself going out of the way for it. read more

We are so excited that our favorite Chinese food restaurant has re-opened in American Fork! Clearly others are as well as there was a huge group of people waiting to get in for their soft opening this weekend. Fong's had been closed for almost a year after their old location was torn down so a car wash could be built. And I'll be honest even though I have been waiting for their re-opening the while time, following their Facebook page on a regular basis, I started to wonder, what if it's not as good as I remember? How bummed will I be if it doesn't live up to my expectations after all this waiting? Well it turns out my worries were not needed, if anything the food we got tonight was even better than it used to be. Looking at the new updated menu it seems that they have added a few new items but we went with a few of our old favorites. The house egg rolls were perfectly prepared and fried just the right amount. The house fried rice was delicious with lots of flavor and added meat. The orange chicken continues to be the best of anyplace I have had. And then there is the pepper steak. My favorite. This is the dish I just cannot get enough of. The balance of steak pepper and onion is excellent along with a flavorful sauce that brings out the flavor of the ingredients without overpowering them. When we get food from fong's we will often have leftovers because the entrees are pretty generous, but there is never any of the pepper steak left over. If you go during their current soft open, be aware that they are not fully staffed yet so placing a to go order or getting a table is going to take a little bit longer then normal, but as before the people that work here are amazing with fantastic service and the food is well worth the wait as well. The Kungpao Chicken is disappointing. It tastes like chicken tenders with cut vegetables drenched in diluted but salty soy sauce and nothing else. Even the peanuts they use taste stale. The only good thing is it's dirt cheap. Lunch bento set only costs like 7.49, which also includes pot stickers and cheese wontons, which you can upgrade to egg rolls for an extra 50 cents. Which is probably not a good idea also because the egg rolls taste like store-bought instant egg rolls and the dip sauce taste more like synthetic chemical than anything else. Another comment I have is the Vegetables option includes Buddha Delight that is made with chicken broth. Luckily my Vegetarian friend spotted that in the description. Still this causes confusion. The service is not great either. There was only one server actively taking orders and delivering food. Some of us got the wrong order and if we got the right one, some items on the order was wrong. I think it was mainly because the server was trying to do so much within a short period of time. The only thing I like is the interior. I have tried Fong's three times now, and I figured it was time to write a review. The first time I ordered from Fong's I got it for take-out. I ordered a Bento Box with General Tso's Chicken. A Bento Box comes with 4 pieces of a California Roll, 2 Potstickers, Chow Mein, and a choice of entree. I don't eat sushi, but they are really nice and let you sub the California Roll with either Cream Cheese Wontons or Eggrolls. I did the Wontons. I really enjoyed the Wontons, the Potstickers, and the Chow Mein. I was not, however, a big fan of the General Tso's Chicken. The breading seemed a bit off and it just didn't taste that great. On subsequent visits I have ordered the Teriyaki Chicken, the Pad Thai, and the Mongolian Beef. The Teriyaki Chicken is light and VERY yummy. The Pad Thai is different from what you would get at a standard Thai restaurant. I didn't really care for the flavor (I think it is personal preference), but the chicken was of a higher quality than typical in Pad Thai. I think a lot of people would like it. The Mongolian Beef had a very good flavor. The beef was tender (not chewy), but not too mushy. It was very good! The second time I ordered Fong's I got it delivered. I LOVE that this place delivers! Seriously...Utah seriously lacks in places that deliver. My husband and I share a car, so I am often left at home alone. Once in awhile I don't feel like cooking for myself and pizza just doesn't sound good. I am so excited to now have another option! Better yet, their delivery is free! Not even the big pizza delivery places can say that. They do have a delivery minimum of $12, which is very reasonable in my opinion. The prices here are VERY reasonable. A Bento Box will run you about $6.50-$9.00, depending on what you get. This price is comparable to Panda Express and you get more food, that is of higher quality. Their Pad Thai is only $6.25, which is about $3.00 cheaper than most Thai restaurants. There are more expensive items on the menu, but to get Chinese food for under $10 is always good. One person complained that the atmosphere was a bit off considering the location used to be a 50's diner. While it is a bit weird, I think that they have a done a really good job. They have put in very streamlined, contemporary ceiling fans, and great Chinese lamps. Does it still look like a 50's diner? Yes, but to me...who the heck cares as long as the food is yummy? Overall, I think Fong's is a place I will be returning to again and again. read more

5 is generous, but for the area this place rocks. No sushi within 3/4 miles so as far as that goes, we're happy. Usually 3 foods in one place doesn't work out great, but we had all three and were pleasantly surprised. Pad Thai was solid, sushi was good, salad ruled (I kid you not, good salad... great dressing/prailines, other yummy stuff) green beans were tasty. 50's diner theme was odd but spotlessly clean (cannot be said for other asian in area) and the staff was spot on. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. First, the positives - the service was good and quick. Pricss are affordable and the portion sizes are large. We tried the sesame chicken and orange beef. The flavors were good and the food was clearly fresh, but there wasn't enough sauce on the orange beef, causing the predominant flavor to be the fried coating. The biggest problem was that all of the food was served on cold plates. Almost instantly, the sauce on both dishes, which had run to the bottom of the plate, was cooler than room temperature. The meats also cooled off; soon the meal became unpleasant. The rice was served in side bowls, as expected, but those were also cold. read more

Your meal wont come out all at once but instead each persons order will come out in intervals if it comes out all. I ordered SOUP and my families bento boxes came out loooong before. This is the favorite place for all my friends and family for Asian food. I come here 2-3 times a month. These are my favorite dishes: -Thai Basil Beef ( or chicken, but the beef fits better) -Nine Flavor Beef -Mongolian Beef -Honey-Walnut Shrimp ( or Chicken) -Pad Thai w/Chicken It is good food, that is cooked very well. The vegetables are cooked to order with great texture and flavored nicely. The price is very good. Bento Box combos are as cheap as a McDonald's value meal. Why it doesn't make 5 stars: -Service. Every time I go there, there is a new zit-faced high school aged host/waiter that is over-seeing at least 5 tables. It takes a while to get drinks and get food which can make a bad experience if you want a quick lunch. About half the time, a member of the kitchen staff is eating in the dining area which is a turn-off. read more

After reading 4+ reviews, I was convinced to give Fong's a try. I was disappointed with the dishes I ordered. I had Ham Egg Fu Yung, Honey Walnut Shrimp, and crispy potstickers. I gave the restaurant a three-star. The saving grace was the Egg Fu Yung because it was delicious. The brown sauce tasted great. However, the Honey Walnut Shrimp was extremely dry. The Honey Walnut Shrimp from Panda Express tasted better because it was softer, juicier or shall I say, "saucier." The shrimp was tough and tasted stale as if it came directly out of the freezer. The rice was not jasmine rice - it tasted like rice from Uncle Ben's and it needed some salt. read more

So hubby and I are from Virginia so our definition of "good Chinese" has been a bit different than our new Utahn friends'. I tried China Isle (bland and the lo mein had lots of vegetables which I wasn't used to) and we tried TemptAsian (we loved it on first trip, but got horrible stomachs after our second trip). On a whim we decided to check out Fong--and were very, very pleasantly surprised. Hubby got the House Special Lo Mein. It has chicken, beef, and shrimp and was a generous portion. The noodles weren't too greasy or dry and the protein to noodle to veggie ratio was perfect (for us). I got the beef and broccoli with white/Jasmine rice. The beef was tender and I didn't get a single piece of fat/gristle. The rice was perfectly cooked. The portion was perfect. (I eat more than the average small-framed gal so I finished it and was full.) Our daughter got the sweet and sour chicken "classic" bento box which came with 4 California rolls, 2 pork potstickers, and lo mein. Not a fan of the sweet and sour sauce we asked if they could make hers without--and they accommodated our request. She loved her meal and ate all of her "chicken nuggets." For an appetizer we got the cream cheese wontons. Hubby said it was a little more oniony than he preferred, but I thought they were perfect. The red dipping sauce they gave us was sweeter than I expected but very addicting. It was an unusually busy Saturday night for them (so our waitress said when I asked) but even then the atmosphere wasn't too loud or overwhelming. The service was attentive and helpful. Fong is good. We went on a Friday night and apparently they are popular for their take out. The place was packed. So packed that I am pretty sure we had the waitress come back once to fill water and the rest of the time we were on our own. The food was yummy. We had two bento boxes because they allow you to get three appetizers and an entree. We got the curry chicken and the sesame chicken. Both were flavorful and had lots of sauce. The fried rice, lo mein, and cream cheese wantons were our favorite appetizers. The price was just 7.50 each. Not bad. read more

Got us the wrong drinks, waited ten minutes after we got our food to bring out the rice, and our check took another twenty minutes to arrive. Good food, but very poorly managed restaurant. I have eaten here many times. I think that their lunch bento boxes are great! but the thing I keep coming back for is their fried rice. I don't know why, but I am seriously addicted to it! Either their beef or their house fried rice. I don't need anything else. it's a meal in itself and I just love it! Now the service could use a little help when i have eaten in, but overall it is an enjoyable experience when I'm there. I hope that they work on improving the service a little more, just so it can be on par with the food. read more

We've missed Fongs !! After a long wait for the reopening of their new location, we were thrilled to finally get to eat there again ! We went out at lunchtime, which was pretty empty, so our food came out in 10 mins, pipping hot and smelling delicious as per usual. If I could, I would probably eat their Honey chicken walnut everyday !. Im giving them 4 stars because the amount of chicken i got (compared to back then) was pretty small, but other than that, there's nothing to complain about. We have yet to come here at a busy time, but seeing how they recently just opened after being closed for a while, patience will be our virtue as we are understanding how they might be under staffed. read more

Yes the decor is off but once you have eaten here you won't care. The service is fast, the prices are reasonable and the food is as good as any Asian food along the Wasatch front. If you are dining at Fong's for the first time, try the Nine Flavor Beef, it is amazing.
