Two of us ordered the sirloin plate with chimichurrie which was really tasty although the meat was a bit tough to chew, but the flavors were delicious! And rice was great! My husband ordered the garlic shrimp bento box which was very good and my son had the poke bowl which he loved. The cocktails were pretty good. The one downfall was the chicken bite appetizer. Excellent location within Napili Plaza, close to Napili Bay Beach. Our family arrived hungry. Service was attentive, always refilling drinks and food came out quickly. Poke Bowl is bomb - the slaw is refreshing. Fish Sando on the brioche bun is a good portion size and also delicious. The keikis enjoyed their burger and fried chicken bites. We're thankful for Fond hosting a Sunday Birthday brunch. Jojo was quick to respond to questions and concerns over email in the weeks leading up to our event. On the day of, we were able to have the restaurant all to ourselves for most of our meal. To expedite service,  we pre-ordered items from their Brunch and Lunch menu. We ordered the Caesar Salad, Eggs Benedict with Canadian Bacon, Seared Fish Catch Bento Box, Roast Pork Bento Box,  Fried Chicken Bites, and Churros. The Caesar salad was loaded and bigger than I expected for an appetizer. Everything was delicious and the food came out hot. We especially liked the Roast Pork, great flavor! Perfectly crispy chicken, scone-like biscuits served with a trio of sauces (try the butter, honey and brown gravy all together, it's a wonderful mix of salty with a hint of sweet). The seasoned bread crumbs on the mac n' cheese was a nice touch. Every dish was delightful, good portions too. The wait staff was on their game, friendly, efficient and never missed a beat. What can I say? Jojo Vasquez is a legend. Best Filipino chef on the island hands down, dare I say most skilled chef on the island. Half my meals here have been for the Sunday chef's counter, which is something I look forward to every couple months. The restaurant gets shutdown for the general public, and 10-12 lucky guests get to enjoy 2 hours of foodie paradise delight around the huge U-shaped counter in the center of the restaurant. Jojo takes you on an experience of uniquely crafted symphony of dishes, prepared right before your very eyes with culinary and cultural anecdotes of how each dish was inspired and shares some of the techniques he utilizes to bring them to perfection. He also has entertaining stories of his chef background to share if you hit it off conversationally. I won't share any specifics here to spare you of any spoilers. There's an optional wine pairing for each course except dessert. Eliza, Jojo's wife, is a super friendly, delightful presence and makes sure everyone is taken care of with wine, drinks, and anything else. A must-try experience! read more

We stopped by Fond for lunch right after a morning snorkeling at Napili Bay. Unfortunately, that meant we didn't have our vaccine cards with us so without outdoor seating options available, we just ordered takeout to eat in the car. I really loved the PLT lettuce wraps. 4 lettuce leaves with kalua pork, onion, and tomato jam was flavorful and nicely balanced. Not sure if it was because it was 25% off during lunchtime that the portion size was also less, but I felt like the protein in the bento box was on the small side. The fried chicken bento box came with one piece of chicken thigh and the amount of poke that came in the poke bowl left us still hungry afterwards. Having had poke 5 times in the 2 weeks we were here, this wasn't our favorite not just because of the portion size but the flavor as well. read more

We were looking for another restaurant and we ended up here. We went in and it was the best mistake ever. Like ever! So much so that we went twice. The food has an amazing presentation and the flavors just work with each other and they are not overwhelming. They are just perfect to the point that you don't need to add salt, pepper or any hot sauce. The steak with rice , broccoli was my favorite! This place is located in a strip mall. We had reservations but when we got there it there was only 2 other tables. Pretty empty. The place is cute with the garage door open up front letting the nice breeze in. We were greeted right away and seated to. The people were really nice. This place overall was just okay. We started off with the fries and calamari appetizers although the calamari was on the smaller side they were both ok and nothing to rave about. For mains we did the 8oz Maui cattle, the holiday menu New York strip, and both options on the Keiki plate of shrimp and chicken. The 8oz Maui came in a skillet with broccoli, grilled onions, and chimichurri overall flavor and cook on the steak was perfect as we ordered medium. The rice had good flavor it was a 4/5. Now the New York Strip special was disappointing. First of all I ordered a medium steak this steak was still mooing it was so undercooked at first I didn't notice because they cut the 12 oz steak in two parts and only saw top half. As the meal progressed I noticed even top half was undercooked I did inform the server and told him I did not want it recooked as I was grossed out and didn't want it anymore. So overall from the plate I ate a little less than 3oz of the steak, a few fries, and a few broccoli pieces. Since we were still hungry we went ahead and ordered the cheesecake and brownie skillet. The skillet was a 5/5 as I thought the chocolate paired so well with the ube ice cream. As we got final bill realized they didn't even discount the NY Strip at all this was 49 and sent back which I thought was very poor customer service. Still undecided if we will be back based on service but they do have a couple of interesting items and I loved the brownie skillet. read more

What can I say but WOW! I am so glad we came here. I was staying at the Westin Nanae & this restaurant was very close by 5min drive. Place is very nice and has these garage doors type windows that open up with lots of ceiling fans, so it was nice and breezy and good air flow if you're worried about covid. Chef Jojo is a very well known chef in the Maui community and was out greeting all customers and even serving out dishes. It's apparent that they were short staff just like all the restaurants due to the pandemic but we still got the best service especially since we got to sit at the counter. We ordered a bunch of stuff. I started with a the special chef appetizer good for only one person, kinda pricey but worth the $24. Chef Jojo even came out and plated it in front of us. It was a taro rice cake with shrimp aioli sauce topped with caviar, oyster , salmon belly & fish tartare. Then we also ordered the PLT wrap & potato wedges as appetizers which were yummy and actually could be a meal. I had the Maui sirloin over fried rice and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. My hubby had the Korean Fried chicken & it was delish without the heat. My aunt had the Garlic shrimp bento & shrimp was cooked perfectly & garlic sauce was so good I even used it to pour over my rice. For desert we tried the Cookie sunday & cheesecake and it did not disappoint! We were stuffed by the end of the night. Our server Eliza was excellent! I watched her bust her butt serving multiple tables & watched Chef Jojo helping his staff out. I hope this place succeeds because I would like to come back on my next vacay here to Maui. The mahi mahi was one of my favorite dishes during my stay on Maui. Even though the fish filled me up I would have liked something else with the fish other than green beans. Came here on a Sunday for brunch with my husband. He made a reservation, but when we showed up, it was obvious none was needed, as we were one of 3 parties in the whole restaurant! I was happy to see this was on the menu, as it wasn't featured on their website when I looked ahead of time. I ordered the eggs fully cooked since I'm pregnant, and they unfortunately forgot. However they were able to fix it quickly, and after that, the dish tasted phenomenal!!!! The patty was great, went well with the gravy and rice....match made in heaven. It's not a complicated dish, just not something you see on every Hawaiian cuisine menu, unfortunately. My husband got the Hangover Burger, which was also amazing!!! Fries were Luke warm though, but not a huge deal. The service here was just 2 servers, it seemed like the owner, and also a bus boy. We went to Fond on a Sunday when the chef does a private dinner for only about 14 people at a time. He demonstrated the preparation of each course and gave some very useful cooking tips. Also, with the dinner was included the option to purchase a 4 wine flight. Each wine was paired with the proper course. The dining experience was wonderful, and the other guests were interesting. The seating was conducive to conversation with couples seated on either side of us. The only negative I can find about the experience was that the dinner ended up costing $80 more, before the tip, than we had anticipated. My husband believes that he was quoted about $20 per person less than the cost of the dinners when we got there. We were also led to believe that drinks would be included in that fee. When we arrived, the dinners were $20 more and the wine flight was $40 per person. We opted to share the wine flight. In conclusion, I would highly recommend the experience, but be sure to confirm the pricing before you book your reservation. read more
