Light and spacious restaurant, there were a lot of people but it didn't feel crowded. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. Food was great, lots of combinations of textures and flavors, contrasts between salty and acid and rich and cheesy. We had grape frozen yogurt for dessert, which was memorable, the yogurt was creamy and tangy and it was served with honey comb and peanuts. They call it a dip, but they don't bring anything to dip in it... no toast, veggies, crackers, etc. My friend and I both found this very odd. Dinner ambience at folk was lovely. It was relaxed and casual but yet upscale and on trend. The service was amazing. Handsome and sexy waiters that were all very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and presentation was excellent. The fried chicken Cesar was amazing and Folks has to be the best Stone oven cooked pizza in Nashville. We went on a lovely Sunday early dinner after attending Alvin Ailey Dance performance at TPAC. We found the restaurant busy but not uncomfortable. Nice people watching and meeting new people. No wait time but restaurant started filling up after we had appetizers. I will go back again. However my only thorn with Folk was that it's very expensive $$$$ As a result, I will not be taking a date but going with buddies Dutch treat lol read more

Nashville's food scene does not disappoint and Folk was one of our favorite places that we tried. From the ambiance (total hipster cool), the service (extra friendly hipster waiters), the drinks (incredibly tasty - watch out or you'll get hammered) and the food (absolutely divine!), we had a 5 star all-around experience here. Our server was super friendly, discovered we were visiting and told us what the crowd favorite drinks and food items were + his personal recommendations. Everything on the menu sounded good so we, in classic fashion, over ordered so we could try more things. After all, when you're on vacation - you can't gain any weight, right?! Well, drinks were incredible. The mixologists know what they're doing because the smells and flavors were so good and smooth that you'd probably slurp up these drinks a bit too quickly and then find yourself in trouble by mid dinner. The FOOD! OMG THE FOOD!! SOOO GOOD! The anchovy appetizer is simple & tasty. The cucumber Cesar salad was to die for. Such eclectic, complimentary flavors! The clam pizza is a crowd favorite and I can see why. The pizza dough/crust is incredible! It's the perfect combination of crispy and chewy with some soft doughy bubbles throughout the crust... and the seafood flavor is so unique. We had such a great dinner experience here that we literally came back the next day, sans reservations, sat at the bar, devoured 2 different pizzas, all right before our dinner reservation at a different place! Folk is TOO GOOD that we wanted to try more of the menu that we literally came back to eat for fun because we knew it was our one and only opportunity before our vacation ended. Folk is sooo good. My partner and I dined at Folk on February 22nd. The waiter spilled a cocktail on my partner as he was setting down our drinks. He brought us another cocktail, but we were still charged for that drink at the end of the night. For my partner to sit through an entire meal with a drink all over her lap, I would expect for the waiter to comp the cost of the drink, at the very least. We felt this was poor service - especially for a restaurant of Folk's caliber. We do not plan to return. read more

First of all like all of Nashville make sure you get a reservation bc this place is popular! This was the best meal we had our whole trip. Service was amazing. Ellie our waitress was so attentive and answered every question we had about the menu. The bean dish was like a bean cacio e Pepe. Unusual but my favorite thing we had. Sadly not picture was our salad which was so yummy it got eaten before any pictures could be taken. My only complaint was I wish I'd had more Clams on my pizza but it was truely delicious. Impressive as hell on every level and I'm kicking myself a bit at having waited so long to try this place. A completely different vibe than their sister restaurant, Rolf & Daughters, Folk is particularly well known for wood fired pizzas and seasonal small plates. I find the ambiance here more laid back and love that it's easy to put in a reservation only a week in advance here. (Think I could even snag a seat at the bar at a peak time if I came by myself or with only 1 other person, such a win in a city ruled by reservations.) Plates were a bit smaller than I anticipated and 3 apps, 1 pizza, and 1 dessert to share was perfect for two people (but pricey, so beware.) The broiled oysters were truly some of the best I've ever had and I eat a LOT of oysters - just a hint of spice that kept things interesting. The clam pizza brought me right back to lots of time spent clamming in New England and, dare I say, is my new favorite pizza in all of Nash? Anchovies, focaccia, eggnog ice cream - not a single bad dish here. But what truly impressed me were the cocktails. I stopped drinking recently and have been learning the hard way that only truly incredible bar programs have been able to pull off a good NA cocktail -- there are many duds just filled with sugar in lieu of booze. Not at Folk: the bartender made me two of the tastiest, most unique NA cocktails I've had to date and it just really capped off a perfect evening. Had a lovely non-alcoholic beer on the menu as well. Our waiter answered any and all questions we had about the menu, & he steered us perfectly with what to get. This restaurant has an excellent vibe with a vibrant interior, tall ceilings with beautiful decorations, and an impressive bar at the front overlooking the street. While we only got food to go, I would definitely come back here to eat in person. We got their pizza that had kale and garlic crunch on it. Let me say that this is incredibly oily/greasy. The box will be soaked with oil, so be prepared for that. The pizza itself tastes pretty good, but I would maybe prefer a little less kale and more of the other ingredients. The garlic crunch had a very weak garlic flavor and more oil flavor. It would be really nice to have more expressive garlic flavor incorporated into the pizza. I only took one picture here, which is a shame because everything was so beautiful! We came to Folk as my former college roommate is a waitress here. Only being in Nashville for less than 24 hours, we were super pleased with the variety of delicious items at Folk. We got the asparagus, the beef tartare, some focaccia with ricotta spread, and a pizza. This was all washed down with a couple cocktails and the strawberries and cream dessert. Note that all servings are a little small, but everything was delicious. My favorite was the asparagus. It was unique (mixed with crab and yuzu and cold-blanched). Everything was so fresh. The best was probably the service. We felt so taken care of here, not just because my friend works here!! It is a very open, airy space that feels elevated while still being able to wear casual clothes. Parking is a little tough and we ended up paying $6 for a church lot down the street. We came here for our date night on a Thursday evening. Everything about our experience here was worthy of five stars. We didn't make a reservation because it was a weeknight, though it was busy, and we scored a table along the bench next to the half wall of the kitchen. Inside was spacious and clean and cozy. I immediately felt comfortable. Our server was absolutely phenomenal!!! She was so friendly and fast and knowledgeable. We ordered so many things and she carefully planned the order they'd come out and did a fantastic job. (We even overheard another table raving about her knowledge of something the bar offered and were so thrilled she knew about whatever it was and was excited about it, too.) I usually don't name names, but Elyse was amazing and everyone should know. We overdid it with the food and took half of it home. I have zero regrets because it was all outstanding. I would happily order any of this again, but probably won't because I want to try everything. *Sprouting broccoli w/ yogurt - Loooove this! The broccoli is blanched and charred, so the texture and flavor are amazingly the flavors all worked so well together and the fresh dill added an unexpected burst of flavor *Pepperoni & Sausage Pizza - Finally! Good pizza in the South. It's thin and charred and wow, I didn't know how hot honey would work with a pizza with red sauce, but it was great. Also, way too much food for everything we got. Probably could have just shared this as our meal haha *Heritage pork, potato, & radicchio; the rub on the pork is amazing, but each bit needs all three of the main ingredients to fully appreciate just how rocking this dish is (in my opinion). *Pastured Chicken + 'Nudja Butter - The chicken incredibly moist for chicken, basically spongy. The skin holds a lot of flavor and the sauce with the lemon (that comes with its own adorable little sieve glove, by the way) is delicious. I don't know what kind of pepper that came with, but it was sweet and they blistered it and I would eat a dish of just those, honestly. *Sweet potato / cabbage - this is a cold dish, kind of like a salad. It's fresh, and it's a nice combination of sweet & tangy *Tiramisu - We didn't even try to do dessert there. Taken advantage of--that is my lasting impression. This place has all the elements to be a fantastic restaurant. Great decor, quality servers, good food--but their prices, portions and tactics are insulting. For example, they have a delicious mackerel dip but if you want to actually "dip" something into it you have to purchase focaccia essentially doubling the price (but they don't tell you that when offering). Have you ever in your life seen a dip that wasn't accompanied by a chip, crostini, toast point or something to dip with! Of course you haven't. Their Sungold pizza utilizes a cherry tomato sauce that is absolutely devoid of flavor, but there is a very delicious Margherita pizza that is not listed on the menu for reasons unknown. I asked for a side of the margherita tomato sauce to actually impart some flavor into my Sungold bland flatbread. I was charged $2.00 for a dollop of tomato sauce to add to my $23 personal pizza. But perhaps the most poignant example of the gauging that this restaurant engages in is with their desserts. $8 will purchase you the most ridiculous, insultingly minuscule portion of ice cream you have ever seen! It was delicious but made me just feel exploited. I have dined all over the world from Michelin star restaurant to roadside dives in Appalachia--and the one thing that I hate more than anything is to feel insulted by an establishment. This place succeeded in doing that in spades. I will never be back. read more

This was a fun experience for a date night. I think even the bar seating takes reservations considering each spot in the restaurant had plates in each spot so definitely make sure you put a reservation in advanced because everything I tried to place one on OpenTable a day before, you got terrible time options to go. The ambiance was inviting and very clean. There's a good energy to the place and even though it was a full house, it wasn't a loud environment. Loved all the foliage around and probably dampened a lot of noise. Hostess was attentive, our waitress made sure we had a great time and gave up great recommendations that we did enjoy. The portions are ample but we did leave hungry but the flavors are all balanced but expect to splurge a little bit coming here. We definitely want to go back when we want a treat. THE GOOD -the peach dish was excellent, the prosciutto on it was amazing paired with the nuts -beef tartare was great, loved the tomatoes in it, nice and salty -cherry tomato focaccia was good, also very plentiful -drinks were great (had wine and cocktails) -blackberry sorbet was amazing THE BAD -Mortadella pizza, basically a pizza that tastes like straight up mustard. Very pungent. The vineagary/mustard flavor takes over the entire pizza. The mortadella felt like a cheap, slimey cold cut that you buy prepackaged at a grocery store, and they just put an entire slab of it right on the pizza. The crust didn't even save the day. Couldn't taste anything besides vineagar. -The whipped ricotta was very bland - skip -Raclette was overly funky tasting, and not in a good way (and I like funky cheeses) read more

Just finished a spectacular third meal in Nashville. This time at Folk, a sister restaurant of the chef at Rolf and Daughters, located on the Eastside. Time to celebrate the good times enjoyed in Nashville. A "Shiso Into You" with vodka and St. Germain. Yummy! We start with Finocchiona and Summer Beans. Next, the Margherita Pizza. For our entree, a 45-day dry aged New York Strip and the amazing Cucumber Salad. The steak is sold by the ounce. We ordered an 18 ounce and it was cooked perfectly. Tender and oh so tasty. And what a finish, the insanely rich Tiramisu! This meal was stellar, just like Henrettia Red. Limited menu, superb food. Dining room was modern, airy and filled with guests enjoying delightful food and drink. read more

I was a little underwhelmed after my first visit to Folk. But I was not underwhelmed after my second visit last night. I started with an amazing sparkling red wine that I made everyone at my table try. Kudos to Folk for having some interesting wines! Everyone else at the table (my husband and another couple) stuck with cocktails (all of which they liked). The cocktails creative and average price for Nashville. I was too impressed by the wine to want to drink anything else! Then the food. I started with the chicken liver toast (with strawberry preserves and sorrel leaves). I asked our waiter about it before I ordered it and he said it was kind of like an adult PB&J but but with chicken liver pate instead of peanut butter? Sold. It was great: thick cut toast, toasted but still easily cut, great taste and texture of the pate, and the strawberry preserves and sorrel made it such an interesting plate of food. I'd take this over a traditional PB&J anyday! Our friends started with the kohlrabi Caesar, which they kindly let me try! It was GREAT. I've never had kohlrabi in this kind of preparation, and the salad was light and refreshing and delicious. Great dressing, great croutons, a little bit of trout roe, and A LOT of cheese. What's not to like? (I'd order this for myself if it's still on the menu when I'm next at Folk.) For entrees? I had to the have the clam pie (clam, bonito, lemon, chili, parsley). I'm OBSESSED with it. Delicious. The chili gave it just a hint of heat and with the fresh parsley and claims...loved it. My husband got the pork sausage pizza (pork sausage, provolone picante, red onion, preserved hot peppers), which was really good as well. Our friends got the half chicken milanesa (with habanero honey, lettuces, lemon) - they recommend you eat it like a lettuce wrap: cut a piece of chicken, place it in a lettuce leaf, drizzle some habanero honey, little squeeze of lemon. I tried this as well, and it was really good. The chicken had a great crust, but was still really juicy inside. And when the food is all this good? You get dessert. I had the meyer lemon tart with coriander and citrus herbs, which I loved (I prefer a pretty tart dessert, and this really hit the spot). My husband tried the basil stracciatella gelato, which was sooooooo basily (yum). Our friends got the creme brulee with tonka bean and vanilla, which was good (but creme brulee is always a little too sweet for my taste). The service was great: helpful but not smothering if that makes sense! Our waiter definitely encouraged me to order things that I ended up loving (chicken liver toast, sparkling red wine...). And, of course, it's Nashville, so the restaurant is beautiful. All in all, a very good meal. read more

The restaurant has a nice vibe. Average age maybe 25 to 35 so good people watching. Pretty casual, not sweats but lots of casual jeans. Great vintage speakers but very noisy. Temperature well managed. Staff very friendly. Okay, the real gem, the pizzas. The miataki pizza is actually to die for. Olives were just regular brined olives not really marinated. We are old codgers and don't get out much, and especially to some of the new places that are all the rage with young people. We needed to dine out last night and wanted to get away from the massive crowds near downtown and stumbled across Folk. As we entered, we asked if there was a chance for a table without a reservation. Fortunately, it was early and the very friendly and helpful person at the front desk told us if we were willing to wait for a few minutes she could accommodate us. Two others were joining us and had not arrived, so we had an opportunity to sit at the bar, have a drink and peruse the menu. Both bartenders were engaging and pleasant, and we engaged in a fun and interesting conversation with a young couple seated next to us. We ordered two of the craft cocktails on the menu, a plate of focaccia and ricotta and a plate of anchovies. All very lovely. The other two in our party arrived just as we finished at the bar and our table was ready, with perfect timing. We were seated at a corner table near the entrance which made for good people watching. In spite of high ceilings and many hard surfaces, the acoustics allowed us to hear conversation very well (a plus for deaf old people.) The space is very attractive with beautiful plants everywhere, excellent low lighting and simple but perfect appointments, comfortable seating and plenty of room between tables. The service was stellar. Our main server was patient, unhurried and informative, offering suggestions and exhibiting a nice sense of humor. We ordered more drinks and placed our orders for dinner. The pace was perfect, with orders arriving simultaneously and with no rush. At the table we had the pork copa, trout, a potato covered pizza and a spinach/chard salad. Everything was simply prepared but made of high-quality ingredients. I asked for salt, like a barbarian, and was given a dish of fleur de sel, a very nice touch. I ordered a glass of wine, a recommended Nebbiolo, which was lovely. We were so relaxed and pleased that we ordered coffee, tea and two desserts, which is something we don't often do, but it rounded out everything and prolonged our stay to over two hours, which was in this case a good thing. In all, we had a wonderful experience, as much for the service and atmosphere as for the food. read more

Another short trip to Nashville and another great place to eat. I was so close to 5 stars. My wife and son joined me at this out of the way restaurant. We were late deciding on a place so only got bar reservations. Limited menu but we knew that before going. The waiter was ok certainly not fancy service but more than adequate. They started by saying we should order everything at one time and the suggested it is family style. Hard to do on a small round bar table but a window sill worked as our extra space. We started with a Caesar salad that was tasty but had a topping that felt like eating sand the texture was off putting but flavor pretty good. Had the focaccia bread and whipped ricotta which was very good. The bread was excellent and the spread ok but not great. For our mains we got two clam pizzas and mussels. The pizza was OMG so tasty and crispy. Worth the trip just for that. The mussels were a disappointment as they were cold or warm and lacked taste as the sauce was nondescript. The dessert was also great tiramisu was excellent. Would comeback for the pizza bread and dessert. read more

One of my favorite places for takeout during COVID! I love the pork sausage and spicy pepperoni pizzas, but the seasonal options are also fun. I also really enjoy the fried chicken sandwich, which is on the menu occasionally. "Tiramisu for two" is a great dessert option -- and as a person who lives alone, I have occasionally ordered it for dinner and eaten the other half for breakfast the next day. We came with a group of four and got: chicken liver on toast, the green apple and broccoli veggie dishes, the royal red shrimp, the half chicken milanesa, and two pizzas: the sopressata, and the kale. The veggie dishes were incredible, and we loved the shrimp and the chicken as well (especially with the habanero honey it came with). The sopressata pizza was also great. We weren't as crazy about the kale pizza, but more because it was a kale/potato pizza -- it was a very good version of that kind of pie, but ordering that in the first place was probably a mistake for our group. I liked the chicken liver, but probably wouldn't feel a great need to order it again. Overall, we loved the food, but hard to say it's best in class.
