AWFUL PLACE. TERRIBLE SERVICE. NOT OK My friend and I walked in for a drink, we were greeted by a waiter who promptly stated \the bartenders would help us if we sat at one of the barrel tables by the bar. He came and removed 2 menus from the table, never spoke to us or acknowledged us again. After about 5 mins we decided we'd go sit up at the bar, even though it wasn't in the sun, b/c we should get faster service up there (aka someone would ask us if we'd like a drink, if we were hungry, you know the NORMAL stuff that occurs at a restaurant). Sat at the bar, bartenders chatted amongst themselves, then walked away from us and went to the end of the bar and chatted some more, didn't acknowledge us, didn't say 'hey be right with you', there were 2 other people up at the bar only, so it's not like it was buys. We left and walked out. There are so many good bartenders, good bars and great places to spend you money at on Duval. Skip this place. read more

After walking most of Duval St we decided to sit and enjoy a drink. As soon as we eyed this place we saw a group get up and decided to take the table. As we were sitting down a waiter starts cleaning up and hands us a Menu... Well after about 20 minutes of enjoying each others company the same waiter comes up and informs us that at the moment they will only be taking orders at the bar. If only he would have let us know when he sat us down or handed us the Menu we would have gladly gone to the bar. But we decided to get up and go elsewhere. read more

I love a good slushy drink. When I think of a beach vacation in the sun, it's basically a requirement. The Flying Monkey satisfies that craving for me in Key West. In addition to a typical bar, this place has the ice machines going making everything from Pina Coladas to Banana Breezes (banana, vodka, & vanilla ice cream). Be typical like me and get the Miami Vice everytime.. or mix it up with combos like the Flying Monkey: a mix of the Howler (grain alcohol, vodka, lemonade) and Ruby Roo (raspberries, 151 rum, and bourbon). I've never eaten here, but the food looks overpriced. My favorite thing to do is buy a $10 bottle (bring it back for $7 refills) and move on to check out other eating options along Duval. read more

Great frozen drinks, especially if its a hot day in Key West. We like the margaritas the best. Others are pretty good but most are sweeter and we just can't drink many sweet drinks any more. Servers will let you taste different ones until you decide. Bigger coolie cups are refillable at a good price. Great location for people watching. read more

Conch Fritters are good, and the shots are HUGE. Its an outside bar, and its close to the street so there's great people watching. Theres no live music, but you can usually hear the tunes from the Bull across the street. This place is a good 1st stop of the night to get a little something in your belly before all hell breaks loose on Duval. read more

Definitely my MOST favorite afternoon drinking spot in all of Key West especially on a hot and sticky day but pretty much any day will do!!! The frozen concoction's made up with grain alcohol are deceptively potent and you really do feel no pain aside from the occasional brain freeze. Personal favorite is my own mixup that is a Pain in the Ass on the Graintrain which is quite the tasty combo! And then there is the adjacent gift shop to stock up on anything and everything associated with my personal flying assistant's! Fun place with a great staff! read more

We went for dinner and LOVED It! We were given SOOOO much food. We ordered two appetizers to share (we noticed most places have smaller appetizers.. so we figured we would get two this time..) well, we were wrong. There was SOOO much food! We ordered their daiquiris and they came in these cute refillable travel cups and some beads. Definitely showed us the fun vibe of the place! We were outdoor by the way, but they had fans everywhere so it was not bad at all! We came back later and sat at their outdoor bar and spent forever there! We kept finding ourselves starting out our early morning day drinking at the flying monkey! The bartender was nice, funny, and quick. definitely will return and its an absolute must for Key West! : ) read more

It was a rainy day here last Friday so we were unsure of what to do after we got off the ship. We just started walking. I remembered reading this review from another yelper so we decided to just chill in here. We sat at the bar. I can't remember the name of the drink I had but I do remember it being delicious and we also added a shot of 1800 to set it off. We noticed someone else eating steamed shrimp so we decided to order and was not disappointed. We also received beads to wear around our necks. The bartenders were really nice. I was surprised! Stopped in for a bite to eat for lunch after arriving to the area for vacation and the food was really good! The cheesesteak sandwich was tender on some soft bread with fries. It was good sized sandwich too! I would have been able to eat the whole thing. I had the spinach shrimp wrap with my dressing on the side and r was awesome. Shrimp was done perfectly and had the right proportions of lettuce and tomato to complement the shrimp. I didn't love the conch fritters and thought they were a little too gooey on the inside. I did not leave hungry. The beers could be colder but then again.... Florida heat. Will visit again for another meal for sure! Price tag was good too! read more

I believe this was the first place that me and the bf came to eat once our plane landed in Key West. The food was...meh. I mean it was good, but nothing memorable. The frozen drinks--YUM YUM YUM! The prices also weren't too bad, I think it was $7 for a squeeze bottle that you can keep and then refills were super cheap. Which, now thinking about it, probably doesn't happen much since the drinks are nice and strong, and DO NOT try to drink them too fast--worst brainfreeze ever!! Ouch. I liked the chocolate banana drink the best, can remember the name, but it was good. They have many different flavors, I can see getting very wasted sitting there trying to try them all. Unfortunately my wife and I can not provide any recommendations on the food they serve at the Flying Monkey. However, the frozen drinks are the best on Duval and far exceed those of Fat Tuesdays! We especially like the Grainerade with a 151 kicker, if you like orange push-up or orange Julius when you were a kid this drink is defiantly for you! read more

If I could, I will give this a rating of 0 stars. Employees are awful. Went in for a drink got I.d of course along with the assumptions of my I.d being a fake due to the tiny film that was a little off. Instead of handing me my I.d, employees decided to toss around my I.d and when I received it, they pulled of the wrapper even half way more. Bad customer service, ruined my vacation because my I.d was not accepted due to the tear they created. Just go to fat Tuesdays. read more

The frosty drinks had a definite suck-pinch effect that sent Momma-K into fits of the giggles and gave me a 'check your sense of reality at the door' kinda feel but what do you want? Every flavor of frozen beverage imaginable. You name it, they have it. Saw all the beverages churning and had to see what was up. Decided to go with the $10 cup, to enjoy $7 refills. The bartender honored us as we asked to try nearly every flavor available. I settled on Pina Colada and it was delicious. I murdered 2 while sitting at the bar and took one for the bike ride back to the hotel. The friendly staff even topped us off before we left. Worth stopping in to cool off. read more

They have a chocolate slushy machine with booze in it. And a strawberry daiquiri machine (along with like 8 other choices. But what girl wouldn't want a chocolate covered strawberry alcoholic beverage?! Definitely not something this girl was going to miss out on. Plus they have souvenir mugs so you can walk around KW without spilling your drinking and keeping it cold....two very important factors. Oh and if you're not into slushy, alcoholic beverages you can get beer and hard alcohol but it's not a shots place. Get the refillable cup!!! Ok, so if you are visiting for any period of time in Key West, just do it! You will be back to this bar! Frozen drinks of just about everything! And just in case you don't think there is alcohol in those frozen drinks, you can get an extra shot to add to them.... which of course you would do since you are in Key West! Servers are cool. They will let you sample everything before you buy. You can purchase food from the restaurant next door. Although I never actually saw people eating at the bar. With your purchased refillable mug... you can leave the bar and travel the streets. When you are empty, come back for a refill for less then the original purchase.
