E X P E R I E N C E we came at 1pm on a friday afternoon. we walked up to the stand and were immediately greeted by the server. he took our order and started making the food. food came out quickly, within 10 mins. there was no one else at the stand. the food works area in general was pretty empty F O O D fresh salmon poke bowl: fresh salmon on top of rice, salad, tomatoes, carrots, wdamame, avocado, poke sauce and sesame seed: lightly seasoned and sauced. not too salty. fish and ingredients are fresh. decent amount for a light snack. I would say I'd probably have to eat two of these to be full. came with miso soup which was so nice. I'd definitely get this again P R I C E 15+ 3 TIP a little pricey for the amount of food

I wanted to get lobster and fries and from another vendor at the Chattahoochie Food Works Food Hall in Atlanta, but my husband already got tater tots elsewhere. I decided to come to Flying Fish for sushi. The person working wasn't helpful at all when I asked him about two of the rolls with lobster In it. I decided to get the lobster box. I left and came back and they did not make it yet so decided to wait and they through it together with no care. It didn't even taste like lobster. It did taste like some fake lobster salad with a bunch of rice and sauce. Wish I didn't order from here bc it def was a waste!

I ordered the poke bowl. first thing the food is over priced for the size they give you, i paid $16 dollars for the bowl and a drink and the rice just barely coated the bottom. the portions were off as well gave me a buttload of carrots but not a lot of anything else included rice. the service was nice but i definitely wouldn't recommend especially since there are so many better places in the food court

Downside is it takes a while for your food, but it's all made to order and it's fun to watch. I ordered 2 specialty rolls, tuna crunch and lobster box and they were delicious!! I would highly recommend. I didn't receive any wasabi, I don't know of that was an oversight, but make sure you ask for it.

The transformation of industrial spaces into something so beautiful, delicious and exciting is perhaps one of the most influential things in modern day food evolution. A rustic building filled with plenty of aroma from a dozen stalls, mixing together is something magical. While places like Ponce and Krog Street Market are crowded and pioneered the concept in Atlanta, The Works brings the concept into a completely new area and feels largely undiscovered, for now. Located as a small bar stall witin Chattahochee food works is Flying Fish. With seating for 5-6 people, the Flying Fish is the definition of cozy. Ran by a married couple, who are better known for MF Sushi restaurant in the city, Flying Fish is a relatively new addition to the scene. Drew and Yohan are both spectacular sushi chefs and are given an opportunity to work with some spectacularly fresh fish. They were kind, polite and very attentive to every detail. The rolls were constructed precisely and accurately. The fish is excellent and attention to detail is there throughout. Negi Salmon and Spicy Yellowtail rolls were both delicious, balancing the very perfect amount of flavors of fish, spice and rice. Lobster tempura dish was just spectacular, along with the mussels. Flying Fish sits reasonably in a fast casual sushi category and is an absolutely pleasure to experience.

    Negó Negi Salmon Roll (allegedly)

The sushi roll I had here was no better than a roll I've had from Publix. In fact, Publix was better. I ordered a Negi Salmon Roll, which at this point...I don't know what the heck is supposed to come on it because there's different descriptions of it in various places. The toast tab for online ordering description states, "smoked salmon inside, topped with tuna, yellowtail, avocado, tobiko, sushi rice, sesame seed and seaweed" The website description states, "With light mayo, shrimp, avocado, ucumber and eel sauce" The kiosk I ordered my roll on didn't say anything at all about cucumbers. It's all a confusing mess. I got my roll and there was no sort of sauce and no tobiko. Was shrimp supposed to be on the roll or not? Who knows! There wasn't any on my roll. I ate the roll because I was hungry and it was mediocre. I won't be going back. And for $18.50, I got robbed.

I wasn't expecting a lot from this place, mainly because of its location, but wow did they far exceed my expectations! Their sushi is a bit pricey, but honestly it is so fresh that it makes sense. I had the yellowtail nigiri & the sake (salmon) nigiri. My only regret is that I didn't get more! Also, the sushi was done so quick! I ordered & it was ready in less than 5 minutes! I will absolutely be back here!

    Shrimp Temp and Eel Roll
    Lily H.

Overall 2/5: Not quality, small portions, tasted average. Food 2/5: I got the shrimp & tempura roll which ended up being 8 pieces for $18. They were super small and didn't taste all that great. Definitely not worth the price for the quality of the sushi. Tasted like mall sushi. Will probably not return if i'm back at Chattahoochee food works.

    Lobster Tempura Roll
    Rizwan P.

What you need to know: Solid sushi, good rolls, solid nigiri, decent gyoza. Ended up ordering from here as half our party wanted tacos and the other half sushi, so why not both right? Food: We ordered the Lobster Tempura roll, pork gyoza, and some sake (salmon) nigiri. The lobster tempura roll was by far the standout dish here. Equally crunchy without losing the lobster flavor and great sauces. The nigiri was solid as well, great cuts of salmon that were tender-ish, however, whoever is molding the rice needs some practice because as soon as I picked up the nigiri pieces the rice was already falling apart (and no I didn't put the rice into soy sauce). The gyoza were where things weren't the best, the filling kept falling out of mine whenever I took a bite and it needed more flavor - especially since it was deep fried and not pan fried. Dumpling sauce was a little too on the sweet side as well. Service: Standard service here. Courteous enough to take your order, but no frills and nothing over the top. Price: Ended up paying over $40 for the 3 things we ordered (plus a Diet Coke). Definitely overpriced, but in a hipster food hall, whenever you list something with lobster you can seemingly always over charge for it. All in all, this was a solid sushi joint. A little overpriced for me, but it's in a new hipster food hall, so what can you expect? I can say that I wasn't that mad about the money we spent tho because the roll was really good and nigiri showed that they take care of their fish, even if their rice needed work. Wouldn't mind ordering from here again on my next visit.

    California Cut Roll
    Savi D.

Whenever I need a quick bite to eat, I normally head over to The Works Food Hall. I'm not sure if you've been over there lately, but it is expanding. More about that in another review. I was in the mood for sushi and decided to try out this establishment. Now, I don't know about you, but if I am in the mood for something, I hate being disappointmented. So I deicded to order something simple, "a Califorina Roll." Heres my logic, if I don't like the califorina roll, theres a high chance I wont like any other sushi rolls you have.. lol. I've been right so far. I feel that the california roll is basic and can tell me all I need to know. My order came out very quickly. I must say the sushi was good. Is it the best I ever had?, no, but I enjoyed it. Would I go back, yes I would. There were a few speciality rolls I saw on the menu, that I would love to check out. The serivce was good as well. When the cashier found out that it was my first time there, he made it a point to tell me about the best sellers and even recommended ones that he like as well. If you are in the area, stop by for a quick sushi fix!

    Thao T.

Just your average sushi place. A bit overpriced. Sushi is ok. I thought it was cute that they presented it in a box but even that wasn't wiped down and had food stuck to the outside.

    salmon avocado roll

Don't waste your money. I ordered to go, and not only did they neglect to include two entire rolls, but the rolls I did receive were far below the quality I've experienced in previous trips to Flying Fish. The shrimp tempura clearly came right out of a refrigerator. Tempura was cold, avocado was meager and browned in many places. I can get far better sushi at my local Smyrna spot for less than half the price. Excessively expensive for what you get.

If you are close to Buford Hwy you should try this place. They have parking for a few cars right in front, a smallish restaurant inside with a full sushi bar. Their menu is pretty comprehensive and includes fried rice, noodles, sushi rolls, sashimi, soups etc. As we were a large group we ordered a bunch of things. Most of the entrees are served with a salad and soup making it quite the meal. We ordered the sashimi appetizer, the pork gyoza, shrimp shumai, omelette, combination fried rice, B-52 roll, sunrise roll, crunchy roll I think. Sashimi was fresh - yellowtail, tuna, salmon. The gyoza was delicious and table favorite Honestly, I even enjoyed the pork belly omelette. So flavorful... The fried rice was cooked well but was missing some seasoning/salt. Otherwise good. The rolls were great and we selected ones that had some spice. My favorite was the sunrise roll - a little crunchy inside yet with a slight kick. The staff felt a little overwhelmed with our group but they were polite and helpful. Food was prices reasonably and worth it (for the portion sizes).

Unfortunately, they fell a bit flat for me. I ended up adding a lot of soy sauce since they sincerely lacked flavor. When the bill came, I realized this probably wasn't the best choice for a quick, light meal. The prices were comparable to California, but the quality didn't quite match. That said, the person sitting next to me mentioned she visits often and felt that the night was a bit off, so I'd be open to giving it another try next time I'm in town.

Service? Excellent. Ambiance? Relaxed and enjoyable. Food? Oh...MAN. Wow…read more.. I came here about 8 years ago with the same family members +1 family friend and we enjoyed dinner then, but it truly didn't compare to this visit. Previously, I had Kang Nam slated as an overpriced, but decent sushi place that serves meals on a more robust scale if you're dining with a party. However, the sushi back then was somewhat underwhelming. Last night, we had a phenomenal set. Hamachi, Otoro, Unagi, Ebi, and more! Every piece was delicately balanced and beautifully arranged. Honestly, I wasn't really expecting too much going in- and I'd only chosen Kang Nam as a place where I could get some decent sushi while my family got something else entirely. My mom had Don Katsu (served with a small dish of Japanese style curry sauce). My uncle got the Tempura Udon, of which they served the tempura shrimp on the side in a bed of tempura flakes. This is kind of genius, because you can make the decision on when you want to dip in your tempura instead of them bringing it and you have to down the tempura fast in order to still have it be crunchy... NOT HERE! It stays crunchy since they serve it separately. Love that. We had refillable banchan: kimchi, king oyster mushrooms, and glass noodles- all of which were delicious. We all received bowls of deliciously simple miso soup and we ordered a set of fried dumplings. Everything was great! That is...until the sushi came out. Wow. Presentation: 10/10. Flavor? 10/10. Portion-size: TEN OUT OF TEN, Y'ALL. The sushi rice was fantastic and they didn't use too much like a lot of places do with their nigiri. The toppings were functionally decorative. The sweet shrimp was especially pretty with two different colors of roe on top. The yellowtail didn't need the toppings it had- green onion and fish/squid flakes(?)- in my opinion, but they added a dimension of texture to the initial bite and a hint of flavor to the finish. The fish was perfect in every way: not too thick, no too thin, overlapping the rice by double to allow for perfect soy sauce dips without soaking the rice, and I just CAN NOT EXPLAIN how good each piece was... The sushi rolls were so delicious and every bite had wonderful textures and flavors, but my absolute favorite roll was the one with the smoked tuna on top- WOW! Absolutely stunned. Never - EVER - have I actually tasted the smoke flavor so clearly and completely. I am a HUGE fan of that one and I can't even remember the name of it...it's in the picture on the plate behind the sweet shrimp. The eel nigiri was also a highlight for me- as it's one of my favorite pieces of sushi, I always order several pieces. I was happily surprised to see they were nearly twice the size I get at other restaurants. Hands-down, the best otoro (fatty tuna) I've had in Atlanta. The sushi chef here also believes in giving special service by preparing some extra pieces for the customers as well. I only ordered one set of otoro, but next time....oh my...my bill is gonna hurt next time. Each 2-piece set of otoro is set at $17, so...yeah... It's going to be SO WORTH IT though. I will 10000% be back- soon. I might just get some Otoro, Hamachi, and one of those smoked tuna rolls...man. SO. RIDICULOUSLY. GOOD. Get in there if you haven't been in a while. Trust me!
