First with the good: The staff is nice and helpful, the beers they have are quite good and the crab leg we got was tasty.
Now with the bad: My wife and I went with two friends. We got cheese curds, a crab leg with about a half of a bites worth of crab meat, two hot dogs and a beer which totaled to 40 bucks. That's a lot, we thought. Fine, the dogs will certainly be good for that price, right? Hellllll to the no. Everything on my hot dog was cold. It's like they took all the ingredients out of the fridge and just placed it on the roll and thought, "yea that's a solid hot dog". The "sauerkraut" is actually just chopped cabbage with salt and vinegar. Oh man, then there was the roll. There are not enough curse words in the English language to describe this shameful excuse for a roll. It was cold like it had been just taken out of the freezer. The thing just exploded in my hand when i tried to handle it. It was almost as if it being previously frozen and stale made it impossible for you to actually handle the wiener in any way. Like, guys, just put the damn thing in a microwave or your oven for 15 seconds to soften it and at least give us the illusion that what we are eating is fresh!!!!... I could only tolerate one bite of this disgrace and the rest was wasted.
I look over at my buddy across from me to see how he is making out - he had to be having a better experience than me! once again, nope! His came out on the same type of pathetic roll I previously described except his role was like somehow flattened, a white hot dog and wilted lettuce. That's right, a hot dog with watery wilted lettuce on it. Aside from being a bizarre thing to server your customer, that's not even on the menu folks. This was clearly not correct so we sent it back for what he had actually ordered. Which came 10 minutes later. As expected, he attempted to eat what he had ordered and struggled with the roll before exclaiming obscenities and ditching the most despicable roll any man has ever attempted to eat. All the dishes came out at different times. and it took about 40 minutes to receive our food from when we walked in the door.
Maybe better luck with some of my buddy's fries! Wrong again. If potatoes had toe nails these would be them. Every fry was about 1/4 inch long. Like they poured out all the fries on a cutting board, minced them, fried them, then served them.
Ok, well let's try the fried cheese curds! you can't screw them up right? nope, they managed to. Half of these things were just breading shells with no cheese what so ever in them. How does that happen?! I will admit the ones that did in fact have cheese tasted great. The portion size was laughable as well. After discarding all of the empty ones, I'd say there was about 7 or 8 breaded fried curds that were eaten. Oh and skip going to the bathroom to wash anything from your hands since their water is from a sulfur spring it seems. Needless to say their bathroom smells like someone wiped shite all over the walls.
This is getting long so I'll wrap up. I hope the owner(s) read this because if there is one thing that absolutely needs reckoning, it's the damn roll and food temperature. A wiener is supposed to be hot served on a soft warm roll. A wiener fresh off the grille at a summer barbecue for example does not have this problem. read more
