TL;DR: The food at Flower Child is fairly ace. They have plenty of healthy, fresh options, and the chefs genuinely seem to care about the meals they prepare. I've been to Flower Child on more than several occasions, both for takeout and dine-in. I've rarely been disappointed with their fare, but there were a couple of times it ranged from slightly below average to mediocre. Let's be real: Flower Child is a Fox Restaurant. If you're not a privileged WASP, you know what that entails: tacky, corporate interiors, upper echelon yuppies without taste or class, above-average food (and prices). Outside of the food being above average, everything else about these restaurants is spirit-crushing. The service is virtually nonexistant since it's more of a café situation where you order at a register and someone brings your food out when it's ready. Wait times can vary based on how busy they happen to be. They're usually fairly busy. There have been a couple occasions where I waited quite awhile, but nothing too extreme. Servers are always young attractive people, which, that's standard Fox. The portions are small. This can be good if you don't want to overeat; but one feels a bit overcharged, and one could even be tempted to declare one's frustration over such measly portions if one were hungry enough. In any case, they got rid of my favorite dish over a year ago, which happened to be a yellow curry with brown rice. And before that, a mushroom ramen. Since then, I usually order the three entreés deal for $13: mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and whatever else tempts me at the time - maybe broccoli or green beans. Don't bother ordering a drink or dessert, unless you want to spend around $25 on a lunch for one. But this isn't New York City, so don't be a schlemiel. Got it. Pal. What else is there to say about Flower Child? If you generally like Fox restaurants, give it a shot - it won't disappoint. If you've never been to a Fox restaurant, this would be a good place to start. Clean interiors, quality food. But ugly interiors, and high prices. It's a trade-off. Oh yeah, the patrons are generally insufferable, but I'm a misanthrope, so your mileage may vary. Maybe you're one of the people I couldn't stand to be around for more than 5 minutes, from whom I would beg YHWH mercy. In any case, strap yourself in and take your tuchus over to Flower Child; forget that other bupkes, you friggin schlub, you. read more

Food was great! Service is fast and easy, you pay and take a table marker and they bring it out to you. The sides were soooo good. Sweet potato side was my favorite. Salmon was cooked to perfection and flavorful. Definitely a good spot to grab a quick bite that's not over priced. Especially for being in Arcadia/Scottsdale! read more

Usually, I will forgive one-time off rudeness and poor customer service, but the last time I was there, the young-ish female cashier taking my order was so rude and dismissive, I thought it warranted feedback. I think she is new, since previous cashiers have always been polite and easy to order with. She, unfortunately, was not. I'm far from a hippie, but I'm a huge fan of Fox Restaurant Concepts, and Flower Child is my new favorite... I've already been a handful of times and while I admit, it's on the pricey side, I'll pay more for organic, local, healthy cuisine any day. Be warned, however: the parking lot can get crowded during lunch, but it's worth it to park farther away or be patient and wait for a spot... Once you step inside Flower Child, you'll find friendly service and tons of menu options for both adults and kids. (I still want to take my kids in to see if they like the kiddie options, but I've seen others enjoying). It's a fast casual concept, so order at the counter and find your table and your food will be brought to you. That is, of course, after a pit-stop to fill your drink cup with your choice of three different teas and / or three different lemonades. I suggest mixing and making your own unique version of an Arnold Palmer. Free refills included! The Asian Avocado Salad with Chicken or Salmon is my latest go-to order for lunch, but I don't think you can go wrong here... just order whatever sounds good and know you'll be nourishing your body with healthy ingredients. You've gotta feel good about that! As an afterthought worth sharing, I did order the Raw Local Veggie appetizer a couple of times in the hopes that it would compare to True Food Kitchen's Crudite appetizer, but sadly, it does not. The Tzatziki at Flower Child is not good at all. I'd suggest serving with the black olive tapenade like TFK and/or getting the TFK tzatziki recipe instead. Lastly, if you're looking to bring food in for your family, friends, or a small gathering, Flower Child does offer a "Family Dinner" option that seems reasonable. I am extremely impressed and it's very good it cost 34.95 and I would pay that again I mean on average just order from a food delivery app from a fast food place is around that price why not order form here for a pickup and eat healthy!! This place is healthy and pretty good. I ordered the steak, brussel sprouts, and Mac and cheese. However, I didn't notice until I got home that they gave me broccolini. Normally not a big deal but I'm pregnant and was CRAVING Brussel sprouts and had to send my Bf out to get some from the store. Mac and cheese is amazing. Steak was good. As a vegetarian who tries to stay away from too much dairy and gluten, I was VERY excited to hear about this place opening. It was pretty busy when I went, which was at a somewhat obscure time in the afternoon. Our cashier was very nice, told us about some of the delicious things they had to offer. Their avocado hummus, oh my god. YUM. Would come back just for that, seriously so good. We got just veggies on the side, and it came with a nice array of dipping vegetables. It was beautiful. I usually only get water when I eat out but decided I wanted to try a tea or lemonade. All of the lemonades were too sour or had a flavor I did not like. I decided to go for the hibiscus tea and wasn't too happy with it. To me it just tasted kind of watered down. My mom liked it though! Just a matter of taste/ opinion I suppose. Instead of getting an actual meal, my mom and I just got 4 sides and shared them. We got the roasted vegetables, the curried cauliflower, chili glazed sweet potatoes, and lentils. I love anything and everything sweet potato related so that was my favorite. Everything else was good as well. Finished off with sharing a bittersweet gluten free brownie, and a gluten free oatmeal cookie. The brownie was extremely rich, but they were both delectable. I come to flower child very often because I love the concept and usually love the food and vibe the place gives off. But every time I come it tastes different. The mac and cheese has never tasted the same and is always different textures, consistency, and taste. I've been going here for 5 years and i'm starting to get fed up with the inconsistency of this place. Today my mac and cheese was sour and barley edible and I couldn't even eat it. The other day my steak was fully uncooked but then the time before that it was overcooked. I would come here way more often if the food was consistent each time. We ordered delivery through Flower Child and have reviews. On one hand, the zucchini lasagna with turkey Bolognese was absolutely delicious, although I could never quite figure out what that square disc of cement was on the top, it was inedible and black and I think was supposed to be melted cheese! My husband had the sliced chicken with sides of Indian cauliflower and brussels sprouts. The chicken was dry as a bone and the vegetables were cooked to smithereens, i.e. mush. I will order the turkey Bolognese once more and hopefully we will find something more enjoyable on that menu. read more

Love to feel good from healthy food! This is the place that will help comfort you! Whether it is lunch or dinner, you always have a good meal. The ambiance and decor, the employees and the fresh food is what makes Flower Child. I have had many of the items on the menu, but still have the need to try more! I also really liked the Indian spiced cauliflower. The best cauliflower I've ever had! The Flying Turkey/avocado wrap was great too! Just the right size and really nice side salad. I am in town for a business trip & decided to try this place - SOOO glad I did. The food was nothing short of amazing & I am soooo excited that there is one only a couple hours from me at home (in Santa Monica, CA)! I started with the veggie salad but substituted the edamame with red bell pepper & the dressing with the lemon avocado dressing & I LOVED it (trying to reduce soy intake). Don't judge me, but because everything sounded so good, I also got a 3 option plate plus a protein: red chili sweet potatoes, Indian spiced cauliflower, green beans & snap peas, & chicken as my protein choice. What a fun place! After visiting Taliesin West I was in the mood for a light lunch and happened to find this place via Yelp (thanks, fellow reviewers!). I'm a vegetarian full-time and part-time vegan so thought this place would be cool to check out. Absolutely loved the set-up, from the hydration station at the front door to the fun interior decor and ability to watch the cooks prepare your food. When you walk in, you order at a counter and then take a number; a server will bring your food to you when done. Drinks are self serve (unless you choose an alcoholic beverage) and what a great choice of flavors (see my photo)! Love that they have optional straws in a container and don't force them on you...they're also compostable, along with the napkins! The menu allows vegans/vegetarians/omnis to eat in peace with the ability to add your own protein selection to most dishes. The restaurant also abides by the "dirty dozen" organic produce list, which made me love them even more! I ordered a chopped vegetable salad and a Four Peaks "white ale" which was on tap. Perfect for a very hot summer Saturday afternoon! By the looks of the crowd, it is a popular little place for many. They've got a stacked menu and easily accommodate anyone that's hungry. They make everything from scratch and you can see workers chopping up fresh vegetables and making your meal. I can't express my frustration with this place enough. When the food is good, it's GOOD. They can make any damn vegetable taste amazing. I ordered on postmates and because their menu isn't updated, you have to make the adjustments in the notes. I ordered shrimp, sweet potato and Brussels sprouts with the gluten free macaroni and cheese on the side. I had to include the shrimp in the notes because it's not on the menu, and ask for the asparagus that's on the menu (but they no longer make) to be Brussels sprouts instead. Sadly, they did broccoli instead of Brussels sprouts..and because I have celiac disease and the broccoli is breaded, I had to throw my entire bowl away. There goes $15. Well at least I have the macaroni and cheese right? Well yeah, if you like plain noodles with no cheese on them lol! It is tucked behind Schmidt Jewelers on the Northeast corner of 44rh St and Camelback. The decor is everything you would expect from a Sam Fox Restaurant, very nice and inviting. I tried The Rebel Wrap - Steak and the home made lemonade which both were very good. You order at the counter, a person assigns you a table and they bring the food to your table. The drinks are all in dispensers so you help yourself. Would recommend this place as a good place for lunch more so than dinner. Food was good, not real large portions but enough to fill you up. My wife and I have had a chance to eat at 4 different locations if Flower Child in the Phoenix area. Desert Ridge, Scottsdale Shea, Central Phoenix and Arcadia Camelback. This review is for the Arcadia restaurant that we went to tonight, New Years Eve, 2019. Now, the Only reason for 4 stars is because the brown rice my wife got was old. It had been in the hot tray waiting to be served. It was 6:15pm and the restaurant was planning to close at 7pm. Anyway, my wifes dish was perfect EXCEPT for the rice. After a request to change out the rice, i watched as the cook staff served up fresh, hot brown rice from the rice cooker. Now, i understand that the restaurant was going to close at 7 but really? Fresh rice is just too small a matter not to be served hot and fresh. Anyway, the staff was spot on. Fresh hot rice, my eggplant and snap peas petfect, salmon, chicken and such good baked yams. Its just so unbelievable that this delicious food is gluten free and perfect for everyone. Please, please go give Flower Child a try. Even if you dont have food allergies, the food will just lnock yoir socks off. If you choose to be vegan, vegetarian or full omnivore, there is literally a dish that is perfect for you. I ended up getting the chicken enchiladas that a good kick but it didn't overwhelm the flavor. I liked their use of Gouda which created a twist to the classic dish. Flower Child is a vegetarian's delight- there are so many creative, healthy options full of fresh ingredients! (But you can add meat to any of the dishes, and some come with meat, so there is no need for meat eaters to stay away.) I've been to Flower Child several times, and have never been disappointed. My current favorite is the Vietnamese Crunch salad, but I also like the Chopped Vegetable. Both are well-portioned and combine great flavors and textures. The Mother Earth bowl is also delicious if you are looking for something a little more cozy and filling, and I like the Forbidden Rice bowl as well. The decor is airy, cute, and comfortable. I love sitting on the patio, where there are several small tables and lots of greenery and flowers. You can also order food for pick-up online, which is super convenient.
