My wife and I decided we needed to replace our existing downstairs floors due to pets wear and tear. I had heard good things about Floor King and met with Troy, salesman, to discuss our options. At no point did Troy try to sell me on anything more than I wanted. We knew we wanted a laminated wood floor that would last and we had a budget in mind. Troy suggested a few options, told me to take the samples home, and come back when I was ready. We liked one of the samples immediately and wanted to get the process going quickly. Turns out Troy was leaving for an extended vacation the next week, but he never rushed us to make a decision. We returned the next day to talk through the process and to secure the down payment. Once again, Troy never pushed us on upgrades, he simply talked us through the options we had and the differences. Allowing us to decide for ourselves and at our speed. Troy came by our home to do an exact measurement and noticed that we would need new floorboards. Basically, our floorboards were not going to work with the new floors, due to the floated floors we were installing. Troy quickly gave us options to replace and a price to match. He provided a checklist of what we needed to do prior to the installation and what his team would be responsible for, super handy. At this point, we were convinced and proceeded to set up a schedule for the installation. Steve, the installer, showed up on time and was ready to rock. He was the lone installer, so the job did take longer than expected (3.5 days instead of 2.5), but he did an awesome job. He was very thorough in his communication of next steps and goals per day. He even took into consideration that we had to have our sink and toilet for our downstairs bathroom reinstalled, therefore he made sure that area was completed once the plumbers arrived. He was very clean and made sure to not leave our garage or downstairs area in shambles at the end of the day. He even helped me move a few things around after he was finished. Steve was extremely professional and a pleasure to work with. In the end, this entire process was as smooth as we could have ever imagined. And our floors are absolutely fantastic! We recently purchased a new home and our first update to the house was to remodel the kitchen. When looking for contractors and vendors for the various aspects of the remodel, we came across Floor King. I first visited the storefront with my newborn son and went in knowing nothing about floors other than that we were interested in Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT). Zac was the first person to greet me and he was extremely patient with me while I debated floor and tile options (while lugging around a brand new baby!). He helped haul the samples back and forth, laid them on the floor, rearranged them multiple times, allowed me to take pictures etc...I must have been there for two hours! I was even able to take multiple samples home with me to see how they'd look in the new space. Zac then offered to come to the house to collect all the samples and take measurements the very next day. He was very communicative over text and phone (clear and concise and again, patient) and the process went smoothly. At one point, we were worried about inventory issues, but Zac immediately found a solution to get the LVT here when we needed it! I wish I had considered Floor King when we did carpet on the stairs. I also wish we had just paid a bit extra for them to demo the previous tile. Boy, that was a LOT of work and we should have left it to the experts ;) We ultimately chose an LVT that looks cement-like and we love it! I worked with Rick to order wood flooring to replace carpet in three rooms. I wanted the wood to match what the builder installed in the balance of our home 3 years prior. Rick was fast to respond and knowledgeable. I had all the original flooring information and Rick quoted promptly and accurately. Made the initial down payment and scheduled the install. Flooring arrived as he promised (despite the supply chain issues) and the installers showed up on time. Given they were removing/disposing of carpet, prepping the concrete floors, and installing about 700 sqft across three rooms, it took them a few hours over one day. Impressive. They were able to interlace the new floor into the existing floor and it looks seamless. Was lucky that the new color matched almost perfectly to the original floor. I recommend Rick and Floor King. Not to mention, they beat the prices of two other authorized distributors (of the floor brand) I called. read more

The Floor King was referred to us through a restoration company we used after our bathroom leaked. We did not have a great experience with that other company. My review of the Floor King is very mixed. I felt like I was helped in the store. I took home samples, got opinions, etc. And I felt like they did a good job retiling our bathroom floor. They are the FLOOR king, as the name says. Where they failed was retiling the shower walls and the sides of the tub. That part did not turn out well at all. The tile looked uneven, especially where the floor met the wall. There were places where the grout was missing altogether. And, even worse, apparently they didn't use any sealant around our bathtub or shower. The grout around the tub started flaking within months. And we've had to add sealant through another company within the first six months. Bottom line: I'd consider this company for floors. I would not consider them for showers/tubs. read more

I wanted to use Floor King to replace 2000 square feet of flooring in a home we are buying. I had an appointment set but their rep didn't show up. I was called a few hours later, they apologized, and we rescheduled. Today we were supposed to meet and once again, they didn't show up. Two strikes and you're out with me. I've never left anyone a negative review before and especially for a company whose services I have not used. But to get those two appointments scheduled I had to ask a homeowner to not be home so I could come by with contractors. Not only was my schedule disturbed but also the schedule of the homeowners. I am a small business owner and I understand mistakes but I can't imagine forgetting a client twice. read more

We used Floor King to tile our kitchen floor and backsplash. Gregory Christensen was the rep that we went through. He was very helpful in the store, helping us to find the tile we were looking for at a price we were willing to pay. He was very helpful, in the beginning, even coming to my house to measure my kitchen prior to 8am to accommodate my work schedule. It all went down hill from there. They were scheduled to complete the work in 2 days, but didn't order enough tile (after measuring the kitchen themselves), so it took them three days, using up an extra day of my husband's vacation. On the third day the tile setter didn't even show up to work until 4pm. When I arrived home from work after their first day I noticed that they hadn't bothered to remove the baseboard when they tore up the old linoleum. They just tiled right up to it. I contacted Gregory to let him know that his tile setters had skipped this important step and he tried to brush it off, saying it was common to do it this way. Leaving the baseboard in place is a common shortcut, but these are supposed to be professional tile setters and it never occurred to me that they would use shortcuts when installing my floor. Gregory came to my house the next day when I insisted it needed to be fixed and basically threw a little tantrum in my kitchen when counting the number of tiles that would need to be re-set. It was very uncomfortable, to the point that I told him we would figure out a way to fix it ourselves and to just leave my house. The other problem with the floor is that before work began my husband very clearly told the tile setter that he wanted the tile centered so that there were not little slivers of tile around the edges of the floor. That was not done, and after Gregory's reaction to the first problem with the quality of their work, I knew there was no way I would get any help from him correcting this problem, So, now we have all of these tiny pieces of tile around the edges of our floor. My experience with Floor King was incredibly poor, and I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you're looking for new floor tile. To be fair in my review, my backsplash does look great. read more

FloorKing was recommended by one of our friends - as they were pleased with the finished product. So we went with them - even though we had a couple of lower cost offers. Bill was very helpful during the selection process. Helped us visualize what will look good and we were able to select the right wood and right carpet design to fit overall decor of our house. This is an important step ! Installation and workmanship turned out to be excellent. Bill and his team were always responsive to any changes during the installation process. The floor has material and labor warranty also. Agree with one of the reviewer - this company takes pride in their work and would not settle for anything less than a perfect job. The beauty of working with a local Austin-based business ! A couple of our friends visited and they were stunned at the transformation. AWFUL from start to finish. The sales lady was sloppy, taking extensive notes by hand and then unable to understand them later and making mistakes. The installation was sloppy too--the edges of the hardwood steps were left unfinished, with big gaps between the wood and the wall, the top step was broken and had to be replaced, they left messy grout on the floor tiles, and in the shower, the gray grout was unevenly applied, cracking in places and discolored. It was like pulling teeth to get them to come fix their mess, and some things (like the smeared grout) I just cleaned myself. Also, they cracked the granite by our stove (according to the builder) when they stood on it to put up the back splash. Expensive and shoddy!! I can't overrstate how disappointed I am with this company. read more

We moved back to Austin a few months ago, after 26 years in Northern Virginia. It's great to be back! We still own the house we moved back to; we had rented it out over the years, and while it wasn't at all in bad condition, thanks to a great property manager, it does need some updating . Came over, introduced herself and proceeded to give us wonderful guidance. I knew I wanted low maintenance flooring that could take heavy furniture and pets without scratches and gouges. I was leaning toward porcelain tile, and Ethel provided lots of additional info on it, and steered us toward colors that would go with the ceramic tile that's already in the house. She came over on a Sunday to measure, and agreed with our choice of tile, and walked us through what would happen when the installers came. Then she scheduled the great installers, who did a fabulous job, and was in contact with us through the process. It was a great, stress free experience, and we love our floor!
