Enjoyed my quality time with myself dedicated to me. I booked myself a happy hour Thursday 1pm appointment for a $59 float pod 1 hour session. First experience doing a float pod and it was fantastic. Relaxing. Music is available to play in the pod. Can be turned off and on anytime. Same with the light (bluish and dim) and starry lights can be turned on and off at any time. I turned off the music I requested after 5 minutes and enjoyed the silence but kept the starry lights and bluish light on for comfort. I enjoyed the ear plugs to avoid water and salt in the ears. I was never rushed at the end of my session. Loud music plays in the pod when the session is over to alert you to exit and shower. Everything was clean and welcoming. Royce was helpful explaining and answering all questions about the experience before the session. His chill vibes and calm demeanor was appreciated. After my session I enjoyed using the main mirrors to apply my lip gloss and then I made my way over to the complimentary tea station and enjoyed a mint tea on the lobby couches before leaving. I felt relaxed for the rest of the day and the next. I also had amazing sleep that night. The session was a great way to de stress and focus on me. Would recommend and would return. The experience was fine. Welcomed and greeted kindly by young woman who told us about the use of the pods. Shower, salt water bath/float, "calming music" if you like (it sounded more like the background music to an ominous space movie), star-like twinkle lights and the choice to shut the egg-shaped pod or leave it open. An hour is a long while, especially if you're not even sold on baths at home. So much time, so little to do, so much thinking/meditating, and, well, boredom. For the cost, it seems like there should be more to it. I floated for 30+ minutes, but after about 15-20 wondered what more there was. I tried the various positions suggested by the person who oriented us to the space, but really felt the time was too long. I took a nice, hot shower afterwards, then sat in the waiting room with a friend until our third friend was ready. My boyfriend booked a surprise float for us to celebrate my birthday. This was such an amazing and relaxing experience. Not only did we do a 60 minute float session, we did a 60 minute contrast session with an infrared sauna and cold plunge experience. I'm not a fan of water so I was a little anxious about the float, but the staff explained everything in detail and made me feel at ease. There are signs posted in each room explaining what to do step by step incase you forget the information the staff share. Each float room is private so it allows for some quiet and relaxation time. The sauna experience is equipped for 2 people. The facility was very clean. The one thing that didn't work for me were the robes, I am a bigger girl so the robe didn't fit, but that wasn't a huge deal. If you are on the bigger side then I would suggest bringing your own robe if you're doing more than just the float or sauna session. The restroom is equipped with a space to get dressed. They had toiletries available if you don't bring them (pads, tampons, makeup remover, lotion, hair-ties, contact solution and cases, etc.). I've been here 4 times now and purchased more visits to use in the future. Sensory deprivation is something that sounded TERRIFYING to be as I am incredibly claustrophobic. My first visit to a float therapy place (not this one) was also in one of these pods, I took all the precautions, I kept the light on, I had music playing and I kept the pod "cracked" so I didn't feel as scared. I had a really hard time relaxing the first time - I think it was just all of the unknown. Today I went for my 4th visit at Float Seattle and now I am able to keep all the lights off and even the pod entirely closed, I even fell asleep today, it was SO relaxing and refreshing!!!! The pod is much bigger than it looks so I really don't get the claustrophobia that I thought I would. I want to do it every day hahaha! I suffer from some chronic lower back pain and bought a massage chair for my house to help when the pain gets really bad, I've also been told to try inversion tables - which I am really not interested in. Float therapy has been a godsend for my lower back pain. 1 hour in here has my back feeling amazing for a month before I start to feel it coming back again. Floating in a sensory deprivation tank was something I always wanted to try and I'm glad I took the "plunge" here. Booking was easy and reasonably priced, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxing, warm, clean, and smelled great. My time in the tank was warm and relaxing. I never realized how much stress I carry in my neck until I was able to fully relax my body. I started with a light and stars, then felt comfortable being in the dark. You could hook up your own music or ask for theirs. I wish I'd opted for the music and would next time. 60 minutes in the tub felt both long and quick. They had everything you could think of for your floating experience including ear plugs and lotion for after your post-tub shower. Wow!!! I love this place! I wish I was rich so I can always pamper myself! I can see why people go here because it really helps your muscles and you can relax. I was having pain with my lower back and sciatic nerve and as soon as I got out of there, I was relieved of pain. It's a nice quick fix. The epsom salt truly helps. The employee gave me the low down on my first visit. The pod has 1000 pounds of salt added and you completely float. I even fell asleep the second time I went which was great cause I'm not the type to relax for an hour. If you're claustrophobic you might not like it cause you're enclosed in the pod. It's nice and relaxing and you can listen to music if you would like. When the lid is closed you can turn the lights off and turn the star option on. I truly enjoy going. They have showers that you use inside the room before and after. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. You can even relax in the reception area after your soak if you're so inclined. Bought a gift session through Groupon for Christmas and then one visit for myself for the infrared sauna and we had our 1/2 hour visit today! It was our first time and we both found Float Seattle to be clean and friendly. My sister is a germaphobe also! The two saunas are private, behind curtains and have the ability for music on your own with Bluetooth or use theirs. Each one has a choice of lights and are very clean and comfortable even with two in one sauna. We will both come again and recommend to friends and family. I can't say enough good things about floatation therapy. After the pandemic year plus a car accident injury, I was ready to try something new for stress/pain/tension relief. Even though I don't know how to swim, I decided to give float a try. Now, I am addicted :) I was nervous at first, but eventually, I just let go of the handle...and was really symbolic of just letting everything go. I felt so relaxed after the session, it was incredible. I like to turn off the light inside the tub, activate the lights on the lid (like twinkling stars), and turn on relaxation music). I've started to doze off because it's so relaxing. No tension or pain afterwards and it lasts for the whole day. I also found myself in a much better mood, too. I use magnesium lotion for muscle pain and have found it very effective so it's no surprise that the float is equally effective. I love the facility, too. The lobby is very welcoming and calm. The room has the tub and a shower stall. From taking a pre-shower to the float to the after shower, it's a complete experience. Everything is super clean and organized. It's like a mini spa. I'm looking forward to trying the sauna soon, too. All the staff members I've interacted with are very professional, helpful, and nice. Scheduling the session, payment options, FAQs, etc is all very easily accessible on their website. However, I have floated dozens of times at Greenwood. I've also used their infrared sauna & cold plunge room (my personal panacea). Float Seattle does an amazing job hiring for all locations, and the staff is uniformly kind, knowledgeable, and invested in making your experience wonderful. Every time. Facilities are incredibly clean and comfortable. There are highly affordable options for regular floating, and membership comes with high-value additional benefits. They have an ADA accessible option. They provide everything you could need in terms of accessories. While sensory deprivation has its benefits, there are also a number of options for modifications. I sometimes play meditative music, use the "stars" illumination in the pod, or crack the lid open. Their hours are a critical factor for me. I can easily get same-day appointments, with start times as early as 7am and as late as 9pm. * If you already find self-care essential, try floating at any of their locations, you can't go wrong. It took a couple times for me to understand the full benefit of floating, but I've brought friends who were sold from the first visit. * If you are already a fan of floatation tanks.... Check out the unique assortment of tanks, cabins, pods across the different locations. I've gone through phases where only a pod or an old-school tank or--currently--a cabin will do! I had my first float ever at Float Seattle-Greenwood last night and I am a convert: I have always wanted to float for chronic pain management and meditative reasons but being claustrophobic it seemed out of the realm of possibility. Booking and check-in are a breeze, took mere minutes to purchase a membership (which you don't have to do) and book my first session on-line, the website is full of useful info, organized well and effortless to book. Brian checked me in, offered tea which was a nice touch, I arrived pretty early because I hate being late and he offered to start my float session early which was a huge bonus! He was really nice and had a chill demeanor. The lobby is small but comfortable and inviting with a selection of teas to enjoy pre or post float. We walked into the float room to do the introductory stuff which was really thorough in a non-hurried and well informed manner, all of my questions were answered with no judgement. I had trepidation before I arrived but the website thoughtfully shows a picture of every room so I could see the size of the float orbs and that was reassuring pre-arrival. I had planned to keep lights on and not close the lid but once I got in the body-temperature, very buoyant water I changed my mind and left the starlight feature on, which comes from the lid of the tank and closed the orb all but an inch. It is SO roomy and inviting that claustrophobia wasn't even a thought much less a problem. The water is SO buoyant (there's a 1000 pounds of epsom salts in the water!) and exactly your body temperature that you kind of lose track of where you are in space, hence the sensory deprivation. It was kind of weird but so very relaxing to not have to hold any part of yourself with tension, it actually took ten minutes or so to totally let go of every muscle. Next time I will try no lights and really give in to true sensory deprivation. I left feeling like I was 99.9% jello, so completely relaxed in body and mind, I wish I lived closer to not have to commute home afterward! My pain was diminished and I had the BEST nights sleep in years (thanks Magnesium in Epsom salts)! Great business, employees, website, experience all around! Thank you! My secret weapon for surviving my crazy job and... well, everything else that's crazy about the world lately. Who knew that something so simple could have such incredible, positive results? The concept's pretty straightforward; if you've ever had an Epsom salt soak you know how it helps muscle aches and general soreness, and if you've ever floated you've got the mechanics down. The closest analogue would be floating in the Dead Sea -- you're super-buoyant and couldn't go under if you tried -- but if the Dead Sea were heated to skin temperature and didn't, you know, smell like it does, and also if you didn't have to wear a swimsuit there. (Trust me on this: The Dead Sea is not swimsuit-optional.) So: A private, exquisitely sanitary sea of your very own, for an hour at a time, and including the ability to control the stars. That's right -- 60 minutes of you controlling the cosmos. (About time, right?) This is a two-part process. First, you control the inside of the float pod, including the lights, and lighting choices include both a nice glowy option and... stars! Yes, there's a starlight option, perfect for feeling as if you're floating on a lazy salt pond under open skies. There's also a total-darkness option if you're on board for the full sensory-deprivation experience. (I like to start with stars, fade to black for most of the hour, and go back to stars as I prepare to emerge.) The glowy light, along with music, comes on after 60 minutes to let you know your hour's ending. Very peaceful. You've got about five minutes to step out of the pod and into the shower; after that, the pod cleaning / filtering process kicks on. Not so peaceful if you're still in there, I suspect. It is... very thorough. Did I mention how very clean these spaces are? So that's the first part. The second part is control of your own internal cosmos. If you'd like to meditate, but can't calm down your monkey-mind; if a spa day sounds lovely but you find yourself multitasking the time away (steam + soak + exfoliate + deep-condition + mani-pedi + book is nice, but it's maybe not as relaxing as we all always hope it will be); if an hour of absolutely no contact with your smartphone / email queue / Instagram / daily newsfeed sounds both impossible and oddly seductive -- you need to try this. I started floating to kickstart a stalled meditation practice, and the results have been profound. I'm calmer, and even when the day is tumultuous I can more easily *access* my calm. To my surprise it also seems to be helping my sleep; my job is tough on diurnal cycles (late hours, air travel, too much screentime), but since I've started floating twice / week sleep seems to come easier and be more refreshing. Go know, right? Apparently hair and skin are big fans of Epsom salts, BTW; mine are softer and look really good for days after a float. (Each pod-room has a private shower, and each shower has shampoo, conditioner, and bath wash; they're all quite gentle.) If that's a consideration for you, there's your data. But this post really goes out to the monkey-minded, the stress-tested, and those who don't *really* want to run the whole universe but would like to find a better way to deal with their part of it. The first session took some time to get comfortable, but the 2nd and 3rd sessions were the most meditative experiences of my life.
