I had an amazing date night here! After arriving, we took our shoes off and got our complimentary wellness shots. Then we got a mini tour and found out they have a Kangen Alkaline water (ph 9.5) refill station which was a nice surprise. I booked cabin 3 because it fit 1-3 people so it had a lil more space than the other cabins. It came with aromatherapy spray, chrome-therapy (lights) and towels. For women I recommend packing a swimsuit for this session. After our treatment we got to shower (very clean shower & decor was cute) and then relax in the sand room. The sand room was my boyfriend's favorite part it was a nice area to slowly cool down and enjoy some tea & an orange after the session. The music, decor and overall ambiance made this area the perfect place to recuperate after sweating Our "sweat with a friend" session was 45mins and costs $50/person. Booking this appointment was a little confusing online and over email; I was under the impression I was paying $35/person as the intro offer but I was told after my session that doesn't apply to "sweat with a friend" so I still had to pay $50/person. Really like going and doing a sauna here. Always clean and nice people. Typically book through ClassPass and have been able to historically have myself and my girlfriend book individual sessions at adjacent times, call ahead, and be put together in the double sauna. Seems like this is no longer possible! So just an FYI for any who do that. Otherwise a nice experience, just need to find somewhere new! read more

I appreciate your response, but I must respectfully disagree with your conclusions. The folliculitis developed specifically in the areas where the lymphatic drainage treatment was performed, and appeared within 24 hours of my visit to your facility. While I did attend a large event, the timing and location of the infection strongly correlate with the treatment I received. Bacterial folliculitis typically appears within 1-2 days after exposure to bacteria and I went to the event from 4/11-13. I went to your establishment on 4/22 and developed folliculitis the day after on 4/23. I'm concerned that you've dismissed my experience without a proper investigation. Simply reviewing sanitation records doesn't address whether protocols were actually followed that day. Additionally, I have documentation from my doctor confirming the timing and likely cause of the infection. Really disappointed with the lack of customer concern. read more

This review is loooong over due. The Madison Park location was my regular place I'd go for infrared sauna sessions. Here's some things I encountered over the years of being a member. My schedule is limited and they seemed to be open the same hours I work so I would have to plan far in advance my sweat sessions and City Sweats would cancel (sometimes last minute) on me & wouldn't offer alternative times forcing me to wait another week or 2 to get in. I'm a small business owner that offers a service & if I had to cancel on a client I'd come in on my day off to make sure their service is complete. Madison Park gave a 3 week notice of the closure-they claim they sent text messages & multiple emails (lies) This gave NOBODY enough time to use up their credits before Madison Park location closed. All I kept hearing from them is "we're merging with Wallingford"...I'm sorry a 20 minute drive (on a lucky day with no traffic) IS NOT MERGING. Over the years I've referred so many people to this business. I'm out hundreds of dollars due to poor ownership. So yep unfortunately now all I can do is share the bad. City Sweats do better coming to you is a privilege-treat your customers better. read more

City Sweats is where I go to unplug. It's an Oasis in the middle of the City. Right when you walk in, you can feel the calm. They offer you a variety of different wellness shots, everyone speaks in a whisper, and they have a ton of different services to choose from. I've had the best deep tissue massage there and have frequently booked an infrared cabin with friends. Not to mention, they have a sand room where you can go after your infrared session or treatment where a cup of tea and orange slice is waiting with your name. It is the best cherry on top after such a peaceful experience. I will sit there for quite some time before headed towards the shower to wrap up my appointment. I typically do not leave negative reviews but my experience with City Sweats might very be one of the worst customer service experiences I have had with a company. I signed up for what I thought was a 3 month commitment- they were not clear at all that you will continue to be charged past the 3 months. I tried for 2 weeks to get somebody on the phone to cancel my membership and potentially reimburse me for the 4th month I got charged for and never used because I had no idea I was even being charged for it. I kept getting a front desk worker who would take my information down and then tell me somebody would be contacting me, never happened. Finally I called AGAIN and got the same girl from the front desk again who remembered me calling multiple times and said I was not the only person who had complained about not getting a returned call. She gave me the personal email of her manager. I did get a returned email this time and she said my membership was cancelled and she would look into getting me refunded for the one month. I never heard back and honestly was just taking the 4th month as a loss. Until I saw today I was charged AGAIN from my bank account even though I was told in an email my account was cancelled! I would not recommend going here if you want to avoid the hassle of managers who do not return calls and or follow through. I am an educator who thought this would be a nice 3 month treat to treat myself at the end of a very chaos school year and instead I am 200 dollars out of services I've never gotten to use and it's been the biggest headache! read more

A friend recommended City Sweats and I booked their 60 minute relaxation massage and 50 minute sauna session for $135. I was able to get an appointment really quickly and easily when I called in. When I got in for my appointment, Wendy greeted me and asked me a few questions about my massage. She was amazing and I truly did feel so relaxed afterwards. After the massage, I had a sauna session and it was a bit too warm for me to stay in the whole time, but overall was a good experience. I recommend bringing a book or something to try to entertain yourself because your phone won't survive in that heat. After my sauna session, I was a little confused. The timer went off, but I didn't really know what the next steps were because I had never been in before. I had to ask someone and found out that they have showers and a "beach" in the back for you to relax with tea afterwards. Ideally they would have given me a breakdown of the experience and what to expect when I checked in as I let them know if was my first time, but regardless, I had an amazing experience and I will definitely be back! read more

Friendly staff, cool experience. My biggest drawback however was due to cleanliness. The towel I received had red marks / several marks on the white towel. Super unappealing. White bathroom rug was stained with dirt as well. I'd recommend using something that won't stain as easily. This place is pretty heavenly. It's especially heavenly for people like me who like to heat up and sweat. Although I live far away, I made it a point to visit this place for a few reasons. I especially wanted to support a black owned business. The ambiance is hip and comforting. It's clean. The concept of individual cabins to sweat it out is amazing. It's amazing for a true, hardcore introvert like myself who become overwhelmed when in an infrared room with multiple people coming in and out and chatting away or making weird sounds right next to you. I often yearn for a space that absolutely no one can enter. City Sweats is it. The first visit was great. The hostess explained mostly everything to me, and I checked in to get my two health shots, and also purchased the charcoal one for additional detox benefits. My orange closed and tea were waiting for me when I got out. It was a great experience. What I deducted a star off for were a few reasons. First, I didn't get the vibe that this space was created for girls like me. It would be cool if maybe there was a flat iron and maybe another hair product for girls with kinky/curly hair. Also, I would've been a ton more comfortable traveling outside to the shower and bathroom after my sweat if I was provided a robe. Also, the hostess during my second visit was definitely not as together as the first one. I had to ask her for my second post sweat shot, she asked me personal questions about my hair, and my slices and tea were no where in sight when I got out. I've been here twice so far. And I have mixed feelings about the place. The facilities is very clean and welcoming. Definitely think that this checks the vibe that you'd want when you're visiting a 'wellness' place. I've had the lymphatic drainage session and the chromotherapy in the private sauna session. Together they were a part of a detox package. The first visit was great, the staff member throughly explained what was happening during my session and gave me great instructions on what to do post-treatment. The second visit was slightly weird where the staff member expected me to know what to do when it was only my second visit and was doing a different treatment (the sauna/chromotherapy). The price of it all is slightly is high. I could easily utilize a sauna at the gym or do a full body massage for the same price as a one of the treatment. My opinion may change as I further visit the facilities but for now I think this place is average for me as of now. read more

Great little spot! Very COVID-friendly since masks are kept on everywhere except for inside the personal saunas. The lounge area is super cool - complete with sand and personal electrolyte drinks and a piece of fruit (I guess you do need to take your mask off for that). I LOVE this place. It's a unique way to engage in self-care, and super relaxing. My favorite is the infrared sauna wrap. They spray your room with aroma therapy and then you're free to lay in your warm cocoon and sleep, meditate or watch TV. Afterwards you get to go sit in a cozy and dimly lit space, with your toes in the sand! Yes, literally. They also give you an orange and either water or tea, can't remember. I am in the mental health field and have recommended this place to so many of my clients. I would go a lot more often if they expanded down into south King or Pierce County. read more

Absolutely awful experience!! I was charged for several months after I canceled a membership I can no longer use. After weeks of sending multiple emails and often being ignored (calling will only get you someone at the front desk to pass your info along to a manager) they refused to refund the hundreds of dollars taken without authorization. BE CAREFUL and check your bank statements thoroughly! Not that it will get you more than a few condescending emails when they do steal from you. I'm truly shocked at predatory and rigid policies that this "small business" uses to justify taking advantage of their patrons. read more

I've been coming here for about six months and have always had a great experience - every time. I've tried cryotherapy and floats, and pleased to add infrared sauna treatments to my self care regime. The front desk folks are always pleasant and helpful. Scheduling a session is very easy through the app. Checking in on yelp got me a free cayenne pepper shot before the treatment and a post- treatment shot. The sauna rooms are immaculate - the controls easy to work. Water, towels - everything needed for a relaxing session. I have been twice to City Sweats to have a facial done by Maia and both times walked out feeling as relaxed as ever! Maia has a very confident approach to taking care of the skin and also relaxing the mind at the same time. It is obvious that she cares about the client experience and makes sure you walk out feeling well cared for. The facial is unique compared to others I have had because the focus is more on the massage portion to the face and uses all natural products to revitalize the skin. There feeling is as if just the right amount of product has been used on your skin. This review is a tough one. But 3 to me means average. So close to 4-5 stars but the price for the service is steep. I am guessing location creeps the price up. Don't get me wrong, it's a very peaceful and relaxing 45 minutes in a private sauna with Chromotherapy, lovely. There are more affordable options in the area so it makes it tough. I don't feel a very thorough introduction/instruction was provided on my first visit. Not sure if I was listening to the overhead music or someone else's but it kept changing mid song. The 'tonics' are also a bit pricey and at the price of a session or membership could be included. It is nice they have a small white sand lounge to enjoy post visit with cold tea, an orange, very relaxing. A cool towel would be a wonderful addition. I have seen this done other places and it's a nice touch/service. Overall, I feel super energized after my sessions, sleep well and feel refreshed the next morning. read more

I feel amazing after going here and find that if gives me the perfect amount of "me" time that I need during the week. I can't recommend this place enough! If you need to wind down and get some real, serious relaxing time, this is your place. I did a sauna cabin and facial with Maia. The facial was the best I've ever had - I have never been so relaxed and at peace. Maia is spectacular. I feel so refreshed and renewed. Cherry on top, the service is great. I originally ordered a sauna + massage online. When I went to book the appointment, I found out that their massage therapist was out until January, and the other location doesn't do massages on the weekends. They were quick to accommodate, offering to swap the massage with the facial (and I'm SO glad I did!). I was amazed at that service to ensure I could still come in and get my money's worth.
