They were nothing special--seemed like an afterthought--which these days, with so many people eating veggie for so many reasons is pretty lame. This has become one of my favorite date night spots. It is kid friendly but I don't mind the kids and if you go at the right time it's not too busy. The owner is super cool and the staff will get you anything fast. Of Course the main reason I go here is the food. I don't want to do a review until I've tried a place a few times and this place is consistently really good. I've had the burgers, but my favorite are Turkey Burgers. The onion rings taste like they beer batter them right there. The owner takes a lot of pride in the quality of the food and how they make everything themselves. The only thing I'm not wild about is shoestring french fries, I'd rather fresh cut but I'm figuring again, this is a kid friendly place. The onion rings seriously make up for it. Want your burger on Texas Toast? Yeah flipside can do that :) There's also a ton of options for toppings--if you're feeling indecisive I would avoid this place at all costs. I friggin love Flipside so much. I've only went to this place approximately 3 times, but it's such a nice Burger joint to go to whenever you're just in the mood for one, and some fries too on the other hand. I usually order the Mushroom & Swiss burger, yum! A large Portobella Mushroom that replaces a beef patty with mini mushrooms on top and melted Swiss cheese. The customer service was great, and the employees do make sure that all of their customers are enjoying their meal(s) and gladly help them out. The last time I've visited Flipside, they accidently gave me a salad even though I didn't ask for it. One of the male servers were friendly enough to take it back to the kitchen, or at least fix my order. The employees really do care about their customers and would take care of any issue ASAP. Sometimes you are just craving a juicy burger and no veggie/turkey/quinoa is gonna do it...you need some solid meat patty in your life. I had a day like that...and I came here and paid 15.00 for a burger/frings/soda. Yes the patty was cooked perfectly and moist but crispy on the outside melt in your mouth beef and I loved the french fries/O's. Friendly staff.... But I can't justify paying 15.00 for a burger when I have to walk up to the counter and order it myself and I can go to Sidebar or Luka's for same price. It's a solid burger and all, but it felt like it could have been a pre-made frozen patty. Not like the flat crap you get from Costco in a huge stack, but a nice, lush, sirloin patty that happened to be frozen and shipped from somewhere to this place. This place is a pretty mixed bag on the lower end. The burger was huge and honestly pretty good, a bit on the greasy burger side but it WAS tasty. The reason this place is getting 2 stars only is the salad and also the "fries and rings" combo if you want to call it that. I would give 2.5 if it was an option, but it's not quite 3 so it gets only 2. My friend and I wanted to share a Fries and rings combo thinking it would be great to share a basket and also get the salad instead of fries with burger. Had we ordered fries with the burger it appears we would have gotten a heaping mound of fries with the burger, but the combo A HIGH $4.25 for what we got, literally 3 onion rings and a small amount of fries. For that price I want a full plate and maybe a few more rings. The rings are the fat, over breaded type, I prefer thing rings too, with real breading/beer batter or something flaky, this was grease soaked gunk wrapped around the three rings.... gross I complained to the counter server and she replied, well, we don't have a standard amount we serve and we just grab a handful and that's what you get. (I Repeat... 3 THREE onion rings) The salad was also terrible and overly mixed with the balsamic or whatever they have as their dressing, my friend and I both wanted other dressing but it wasn't an option... soggy over dressed salad. Solid but not special. My husband and I just moved within walking distance of FlipSide and while moving in we decided we would go grab some food quickly. I ordered the buffalo chicken strips and a milk shake. The milk shake was on point and I will most likely go back at some point when I really want a milkshake. The chicken strips left a lot to be desired. I haven't given the burgers a try yet but the gentleman next to me seemed to really love his. The menu has a lot on it, no too much to confuse you though. They give you the choice of beef. chicken. turkey. garden patty. You can even build your own burgers. The serve other things too, but mainly burgers. All burger come with your choice or fries or house salad and a pickle. You can upgrade you fries to curly or garlic though. I LOVE THAT!! After a 20 minute wait, our food came out. I got the "Shroom and Swiss" burger which consist of the beef patty. swiss cheese. and cooked mushrooms. of course the flipside sauce (kind of like Big Mac sauce or Spread from In&Out) and on the side lettuce. tomato. onion. The burger is HUGE, because I had to take 2 bites for 1 spot. Lol. It took me forever to finish my burger too. It was so good!! I've been in here 3 times in about a month and a half, and I am a fan. The only reason that I didn't give them 5 stars is because I hate the fact that people standing in line to order are far to close to people who are sitting down to eat....I hate folks hovering over me while I'm eating especially complete strangers. I like this place way better than Barney's AND True Burger. First it beats Barney's out because of the better customer services, yes even though you don't technically get a waiter it's better. I also like it better than True Burger for it's variety of items for people who don't eat beef. Every burger they have you can get as a veggie Pattie, Turkey burger, or chicken breast with no up charge. They also by far have the best seasoned Turkey Burger EVER, far too often I get a bland unseasoned turkey patty but not here. What also places them above the completion is fries/salad come with EVERY burger ( only exception is the sliders). Seriously the competition is charging the same 8-10 dollar price for burgers and asking you to pay extra for sides. Only up-charges are if you want curly fries/sweet potato fries. This place is hit or miss, but mostly misses! I've been here 3 times total and not sure I'll be back again. The environment is dirty. The attention the staff provides is in question: floors and table tops are sticky and dirty, window panes dusty, bathroom is umm.... For gourmet burgers, the gourmet is missing. Having multiple toppings for burgers doesn't mean gourmet alone. The cooks are inconsistent - ask for well done and you get medium. Their special sauce is indeed special - why? Order to go and they plop their new batches over the old in the plastic cups. You can tell the new from the old crusted, dried sauce. Lastly, this place needs to work on customer service. The guy at the cashier, tall dark and leaner one, spends most of his time servicing chicks hoping to show them his "burger" while displacing the service where it truly belongs - paying customers! Other staff are less attentive as well. It's merely a business established by individuals who don't take pride in what they do but the amount they make. OH, if you're bored and waiting for your burgers to come out (yes it's a slow process) take a look at their menu (or you can do it online too) for all the errors/typos. Where's Waldo anyone? Got a Lakeshore Heat for take-out. The burger was large, and all the fixings tasted fresh. I asked for a medium rare patty and got exactly that. The fries that came with the burger were hot, crispy, and delicious. I had to wait less than 10 minutes, which was great considering they were somewhat busy. The staff was courteous and friendly. I only experienced a few, minor flaws. The guy taking my order was great, but he spoke rather softly. Not a big deal at all. Also, the prices were a little steep, though reasonable. Parking can be a pain since it is such a busy and popular area. Place: Large menu with tons of options for burgers, sandwiches, salads, fries, shakes and malts. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. There is seating (not a lot) and it gets filled up fast. They have tables and bar seating. Orders are placed and paid for at the bar. If dining in you get a table number and the food is brought to you. Order: I ordered the Lakeshore Heat burger medium on their 9 grain bun. With a house salad and sauces on the side. The order took about 15 minutes to arrive to the table. The burger is massive! So huge. The beef was cooked perfectly and was juicy. I didn't think I would be able to finish it but it tasted too good to stop. Before I knew it I had empty hands and a ton of used napkins left. Price: The Lakeshore heat was $9.50 and it came with the salad. Or you can choose regular fries. I did try a few regular and sweet potato fries and they were great. Excellent experience here! First off, I order the Hangover which include a fried egg, cheese, bacon and fries on a burger. How could you ask for anything more on a burger? Loved it! Not to mention got a side of curly fries which were absolutely delicious. They surely do not skip on the portions either. The tabasco mayo was on point also. As for service, they were super nice and seems like a family run business. I got my burger to go, I was heading out to my car (getting into my car) and the guy at the cashier ran out after me, they had realized they forgot the egg. Its not everyday you see employees that concerned about messing up an order. Were all human, we forget things, and the fact that he made that much of an effort to correct the wrong blew me away. I'm completely baffled why no other restaurants in the Bay Area serve the holiday bird on mini buns.Willie May's Skybox Lounge (long defunct and shuttered for non-food-related reasons) used to make a tasty set of turkey sliders, and I found a random restaurant in Vegas that slaps some together, but for the most part I've had to make my own for the past few years waiting for a new restaurant to do the dirty work for me. When ordering a burger it comes with fries or a salad and you can substitute your regular cut fries for garlic fries, curly fries, onion rings, and I believe there were other fry options. They are located in a cute spot in Oakland. I definitely didn't plan to eat here but my boyfriend and I walked by and automatically decided to eat here. I stumbled upon this joint early this summer and have been going back ever since. the burgers are really some of the best IF not the best in town. its super delicious and extremely inexpensive. The floor was dirty and the bathroom was filthy. The service was tepid. We asked for our burgers to be plain with everything on the side. They didn't tell us it comes with their brand of big mac sauce already on the bun so we had to scrape it off. The burger meat was okay, but the grilled mushrooms were horrific. I don't know if they had them soaking in some lye or some weird chemical to preserve them, but they were all mushy and had this very weird aftertaste. I had to scrape them off too.
