Let me start by saying the arcade itself, I LOVE! I had never had a bad experience there and would've given this place 5 stars hands down, until this last time...
Our first visit my daughter was invited to a birthday, I showed up and glanced at the outside appearance and thought "This is either going to be a dump or the best thing ever..." it was the latter. I was immediately brought back to my bowling alley arcade youth - pinball machines line the walls, tons of "old school"/retro games and enough "new" to get the newer generation's attention. It was THE BEST! Top it off, most games are still the traditional 1 or 2 token plays. I was HOOKED!
We went back several times after and always had a blast. I will say, being a smaller arcade the ticket amounts prizes are a bit pricey for what they are, especially considering all the games are set to what seems to be a very small ticket cap. It fits with the retro vibe, so I accept that. I don't mind because I have to much fun and kids always leave happy. I referred the place and gushed about it to many. When my husband came home from deployment it was one of the first places I wanted to take him and after he went he agreed we needed a date night there. The laser tag course is awesome too! We took my father in law there during his visit and went for my daughter's birthday. LOVE!
FF to my most recent experience. As a last hoorah of the summer I decided my husband and I would take the day and take our son to the arcade.
The place was virtually empty. Knowing he was going to head to games that yield 3-4 tickets (or some none) I headed over to my favorite game, the Storm Stopper. I have been playing this game since I was 5 and have established a rhythm. I can hit the jackpot almost every time and it's always been my go-to for ticket hunting...Right away, jackpot - jackpot - jackpot. Keep in mind they have the jackpot capped at 30 tickets. Normally the storm stopper jackpot accrues tickets over time, so when people don't hit the jackpot, that ticket amount goes to the jackpot. Whatever, not a big deal, 30 tickets repeatedly is still a good haul. So I stood there set to spend my share of tokens to win my kid some tickets so he could actually get the tiny bouncy ball he always wants (that I could buy for .50 at Walmart lol) but never has enough for. After several jackpots I decide to check in with him at his games and... I turn back around and see Storm Stopper has been unplugged. The cord looked like it had been haphazardly ripped from the wall so I thought maybe someone had accidentally hit it, so I ask "Was this unplugged by accident?" The very rude older woman behind the counter informed me that it was broken so she had to unplug it (keep in mind it had been maybe 3 minutes since I'd played the game and there was maybe 1 or 2 other families in the arcade)... I stated "It's been working just fine ma'am, I was just playing it." She says, with attitude: "It shouldn't just be spitting out tickets...". Me, now showing visible irritation and confusion: "It's not, I have been hitting the jackpot...". Her: "It shouldn't be doing that...". Me: "Letting me win?" She rolled her eyes, huffed and walked off. While I was pretty irritated, the day wasn't about me and I'd won a fair amount of tickets so I decided to let it go.
Fast forward to prizes. A younger girl was behind the prize counter. The moment we walked over with my son that rude older woman decided to hover. I kept count of the tickets on my phone because now I don't trust her and I wasn't going to let her take her crap attitude and pettiness out on my son. He's down to his last hundred something tickets and is about 8 tickets shy of a rock candy pop (according to her) and he'd be done cashing out. Any other time we'd been here if the kids are within 10 tickets off to finish up cashing out, they give the kid the item and call it a day. Not today. Fine I get it, I have him pick something else even though I count a major difference in our ticket count (91 ticket difference). My husband reminded me not to make a thing of it because my son didn't notice, so I didn't but, can't let go what a petty, rude woman she was. The toys and items behind that counter are cheap, way less than what we spent. If you are going to work in or run an arcade you need to have a better attitude. Especially when Dave and Busters entertains kids just as much and I can pay $15 and they walk away with some pretty legit prizes. After he picked something else he had 5 tickets left (by her count) and she rudely states "That's it, he's done." and walks away.
As much as I love this place, this last experience and interaction with that woman really rubbed me the wrong way. Had this been my first experience there we'd never have gone back and this would be 1 Star. IF we go back I hope she is not there. read more
