Came here on our OBX alcohol tour we created yesterday. Big wine fans so we were excited to try this place. The Winery is owned by an older couple and they were so sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful. For $15, you get to try 6 wines and you can pick off a diverse menu of sweet or dry white, rose, or reds. It comes with chocolate and goldfish too! AND you get a little souvenir cup. Such a deal!! They have outdoor seating or you can drink inside. They have a few games inside as well. We ended up buying 2 bottles of wine Would love to come back here again when we're back in OBX and if you like to try wine, I highly recommend. Each bottle was about $22. read more

While visiting the OBX ..... I was determined to find a winery in the area. I wasn't sure how a store in a strip mall would fair.....but I decided to give it a try anyway. Boy, am I glad i did!!!!! It was actually quite adorable and inviting inside. Our host, Duncan and his wife, were so friendly!!!! For most of my visit.....I was the only one in the winery. He stood with me and gave me a story about each of the wines. I did a tasting....which included 6 wines and a souvenir wine glass. The wine soooo good!!!! I am typically a white wine gal....but I even tried a few reds here and they were delish!!!! I left with three bottles to bring home to share with my friends!!!!!! I 100% recommend visiting the OBX Winery when in the area!!!!! When back in the area.....I will DEFINITELY be back!!!!! read more

We had our car in the shop down the street so we decided to take a little stroll and stumbled upon this lovely place! Originally we walked over to get some Mexican food next door, but one of the owners of the winery was there and we got into a conversation with him about the wine. He made their wines sound so unique and tasty, we decided to try! As first timers, we were walked through the experience of wine tasting. We did the flight of 6 for $12 + you get a souvenir glass! We like sweet, so we did 4 sweet and 2 dry. My favorite was the "Swan Beach Sunset", which has a black cherry taste and pairs SO good with dark chocolate. What a treat! My boyfriend loved the seasonal "Frost" which is very sweet. Great experience. Thank you! read more

The owner said at the start that they aren't your typical winery. He said they make wines the way that the customer wants them made. He said a customer comes in and says I like this and that and that's how he makes the wine. The owner said he gets wine from all over the world. He doesn't stick to a single location. He has a distributor that provides him wine juices from all over the world. The owner is 1 of 3 owners, he has been best friends with his partners for years. The owner is a retired attorney who make wine as a craft for 10 years and been doing in professionally for 20 years. He provided us tips on the area, he said all of the local drivers have license plates that start with OBX, he said stay away from them. He mentioned about a community group called "LAPD" Locals Against Pennsylvania Drivers.. omg a lot of information we received from this owner. He did talk about his wines and one of his favorite wines to make is the "Great White" It's a oak Chardonnay. He said since he's small with limited room, they are small batch and he uses 100-200 liter tanks to make his wine. The winery inside is small, quaint and the owner comes out provides you a sheet to choose up to 6 wines to sample, and you get to keep a glass. All of the wines that I tried were good. I especially liked the Pinot Noir and Sangiovese, I could taste that it was made straight in the tank with no oak added, it had a wonderful taste to it. Always giving me ideas for my next wine. We sampled the wine outside and walked away with 1/2 case of wine. Great place to check out if you're at the beach. The owner turned 74 today. A wise man with a lot of knowledge and history of the area. A must do when you go to the Outer Banks. read more

A small 'micro winery' settled into a strip mall you'd miss it if you weren't looking for it. We stopped in for a wine tasting and decided to share a tasting (6 wines for $10 paired offering mini chocolates & goldfish to pair with the wine). We ended up selecting two dry whites and four dry reds, and when I was discussing enjoying the Chardonnay our pourer gave me a bonus sample of the Viognier. The small cons: I read on a lot of Yelp reviews how much everyone enjoyed the experience of connecting with the pouring team, learning a lot about the winery's process & wine in general, but we didn't get this experience. Our pourer was very friendly but didn't offer a lot of information about the wine even when I was trying to pry out some information about the creation and flavor profiles. One specific example of the disconnect in the lack of wine discussion-I asked which wines were meant for the chocolate and goldfish and she said 'oh eat them any time you want'...that's not typical of a wine tasting pairing; most wineries will tell you, 'eat this before this wine to enhance the flavor or eat it after to bring out the after taste etc.' I also was a bit dismayed to learn though they are creating their own wine on site they import most of the materials to do so, i.e no growing their own grapes, creating their own blends, etc it almost seemed very large scale 'make your own wine bucket kit' style of operation. They're just the diy kit on a grander scale. So while I enjoyed the white wines, I didn't opt to buy any bottles because it didn't feel unique- like I could just get a kit and make that same wine at home. Overall, it was a fun experience. We always enjoy checking out local wine tastings when in new areas. It was worth the price (we got hearty pours -enough for us to each have quality sips even while splitting our tasting) and bottles are pretty cheap. read more

I'd prefer looking out a vineyard enjoying my wine, but it's not bad if you're looking for something to do on a rainy day or to cool off. Super cute little spot in OBX. Of course it's a little overpriced but that's to be expected in a high tourist area. They give a "complimentary" wine glass souvenir with the tasting so that was nice, and I guess at $16 for the tasting the souvenir cup kind of pays for itself. They give a little bit of goldfish and little dark chocolate chips with the tasting as well which was very tasty and a decent pallet cleaner. read more

Deceiving. You would not expect a strip mall to have such a class act establishment. We arrived at 4:30 with a 5pm close. Our host, John was incredibly informative and welcoming. A proud owner of this unique small business, he was quick to inform us of the exclusivity of this location. You see, this is the only Winery on the outer banks. It is not a vineyard, it's just a winery. I think it's more. It is an educational experience. Our host took us through the voyage of wine tasting without making us feel unlearned. You have quite the selection of both sweets and drys. Truly unique wines that clamor every taste bud in your palate. One of the best aspects of this wine tasting experience was the fact that you buy the glass. A cute stemless goblet with the company logo is your evidence of having undergone a thorough exposition of delectable aromas and flavors. After going through a uncountable samplings, we decided we were happy enough and landed on the unequivocal and unforgettable dry that does not have to excuse itself from being out there, in your face. I compared it to cilantro , you love it or leave it. We bought a bottle of Amore. To be noted, this business can personalize labels to meet any need. Visited in October 2022 after seeing the business listed as dog-friendly on bringfido.com. Arrived to the small storefront business to find it was under new ownership and they did not welcome dogs inside due to a previous incident. They offered very limited seating on the narrow sidewalk outside the entrance door. We were the only customers initially, but as soon as I ordered my tasting flight, 4 more entered. It was extremely crowded. I retreated outside to sit with my husband and dog. Soon a few more people arrived and the outside area quickly got crowded. My husband and dog went to our vehicle while I had my tasting. It was not the winery experience one would expect. I knew ahead of time that it was store front, but had no idea it would be such a small space. The previous owner had great reviews, so I was looking forward to giving it a shot. read more

After finding this little spot on Yelp, we decided to try it out. It is, in fact, the ONLY winery in OBX. The gentleman who mans he shop is named John and he is one of 3 partners who own the winery and create the wines. What began as a hobby for each of them eventually led to a small "micro" winery through which they may share their expertly crafted creations with locals and tourists alike. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday with the intent to taste a few wines and also purchase a wine or 2 as a thank you gift for our friends who babysat our fur baby while we spent a long weekend in OBX... John greeted us immediately upon our arrival and acted thrilled that we were there. We tasted no less than 9 wines FOR FREE and he gave us a lengthy and detailed description of each wine. It was so interesting and I am still literally beside myself with how much wine knowledge he managed to pass to us in the 30 mins we spent with him. Like anyone who is passionate about a hobby, he spoke about wine making in a detailed and thorough manner which conveyed his vigor and enthusiasm for the process. Needless to say, we walked away with a half a case of wine and a whole lotta wine knowledge. And more importantly, a massive appreciation for the amount of expertise, finesse and refinement that goes into the final product. Bravo on a beautiful little retail storefront... albeit one that simply does not do justice to the value of what you gain by stepping inside. Support a local artesian and stop in for a sip (and a story). On a final note, by the time we left, two additional groups had entered to taste wines and John seamlessly cared for each group with ease while he packaged our order. read more

My wife and I were looking around for a local winery for some gifts for neighbors who have been watching our pets while we were down here for vacation. Found OBX Winery via Google and could not have been more thrilled with it. John was very hospitable, knowledgeable and welcoming. Decent food, decent selection of drinks. I was not very impressed with the seating arrangements. We were sitting eye level with other customer's feet. It was quite disgusting. I paid $5.99 to get shrimp added onto my salad - and got a whopping 5 pieces of shrimp. Potato wedges were quite tasty though! read more

Okay so I have to start by saying, we are from Texas. And in Texas, a winery is a very rural and beautiful place. We are surrounded by vineyards and beautiful sunsets, etc. So when I pulled up to the winery and saw a strip center I was a little concerned and honestly, skeptical. But I looked up reviews and saw there were very good reviews so Michael made me go in. Let me tell you, I literally LOVED it. Our host was the most genuine and nice person. He was so educated in wine and explained so much to us! We ordered 6 bottles of wine that are being shipped to our house and we are so excited. Best thing about "off season" (November) at OBX, or anywhere that has a huge tourist season, is you can actually get to know the business owners and their help. John, one of the owners at OBX Winery, is a fount of knowledge, and a great listener, which mates well with OBX's wines and snacks. This is an unpretentious, FUN spot to visit if you like wine and want to try some of their unique variations. Bought a couple bottles of "Swan Beach Sunset" which matched my tastes for a unique tasting red, my usually go to flavor is a Euro, dry, red, but there's something for everyone, as OBX has a wide selection of whites and reds. If I lived on OBX, I'd be a regular visitor. John designs his own labels, which are fun, teaches wine making classes, and the shop has a few other cases filled with non wine items of uniqueness. John's enjoyment of his business shows in his joie de vivre, curiosity, creativity, and passion for wine, and an intelligent discussion. Toss your preconceived notions This winery is different, new and pleasing to the palette. Every wine has a unique obx spin in flavor and delight. Think refreshing, think beach gazing, think deck sitting, think Outer Banks relaxation. "Mellow" was my favorite. And the owners and staff were friendly, knowledgeable and fun. read more

One beer kit on the shelf, no wine kits, the seven or so people sitting around gave me some pretty unfriendly stares, must have interrupted a secret meeting. After the warm welcome no one said a word to me. Don't waste your time if you're trying to find anything for homebrew other than some dusty old bottles a good experience. read more
