Pineapple Pear Sangria Toasted Coconut Sangria Raspberry Peach Sangria and Dragonfruit Sangria

First time at Waters Edge and it was a good experience. We booked a table in advance for a Saturday lunch meet and found that the parking lot out front was already full at 12:05 (they open at 12:00!) Ambiance: Inside is stunning. It's well laid out, has great lighting, and very nice booths which make for cozy get togethers. Service: 5/5. Amber was fantastic. She was enthusiastic, very friendly, and checked on us often to make sure we were okay. Drinks: 4/5. I chose the "build your own flight" and went with the toasted coconut, pineapple pear, raspberry peach sangria, and dragonfruit sangria. In all honesty none of the wines were bad, but the pours were a little less than I expected considering you pay extra to choose your own, not every glass was level. The same for my two girls who came with me and also chose the build your own option. Food: 4/5. We all chose the Mediterranean salad with different proteins (shrimp, chicken, tuna.) It all tasted amazing but the portion was very small for how much the meal was. Overall, a solid 4 stars. I would come back again if in the area to try other wines and a different meal to see if this experience measures up and if the pours are a little more generous next time around.

Sooo, Waters Edge Winery & Bistro is such a beautiful spot with plenty of tasting options. This was the start of a girls' day for us, so we didn't eat much just shared an appetizer. We mainly came for the wine, and trust we had wine! The staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed and chill. I'd definitely come back to try more of the wine... and maybe some more food next time.

Amazing date night location! Locally veteran owned business that impressed me from the moment we stepped in the door. We enjoyed a pick your own wine flight and two of their entrees. The staff is very knowledgeable and explains how the wine is made at the winery. Amazing wine from all over the country and the food was delicious too. This is the perfect location if you want to try something different in the Norfolk area!

We had the best Mother's Day lunch here! This place is beautiful - just the right combination of tasteful nautical and clean modern decor! The service was so friendly and prompt! And their food and wine were amazing! Everything was fresh and delicious! I also loved the live music, plenty of parking and you can make reservations online.

Came for dinner with friends to celebrate wine month. I had a reservation but it wasn't packed. I was told we could sit wherever. Choose a large booth near the live music, a gentleman playing a keyboard. The menus had a lot of tasty options. I got the salmon and substitute the couscous with orzo and got a side of brussel sprouts. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce was good. The orzo was extremely bland. The brussel sprouts were great!! My friends and I decided to do the wine flights. I got the sangria flight and my friends tried variety between sangria, red and white wine. The sangrias were ok. The biggest complaint was th fact the sangria flight is listed at $21, but if you don't do the preselected options it's an additional charge of $6. It's definitely more cost effective and beneficial to share a bottle of wine with friends instead of paying $27 for a flight. I would come back for lunch maybe.

I've been back a few times since my initial review when they first opened. For this review covering the past year I would give them 3 1/2 stars. A few things from my visits: Lunch visit: I sat out on the patio with a group of 6. Our waitress was not good. Maybe she was new and inexperienced. Food took a while, waitress could not answer questions, and wine was disappointing to especially one in our group. Her Chardonnay was not to her liking (too sweet) so she did not drink it. No replacement was offered and her full glass just remained at the table. Food was "meh" this day for all of us. At one point the waitress told us she could see some of our food was ready in the kitchen and wanted to know if she should bring out what was ready or leave it back there. The owner came by the table to check on us at the end of our meal. He obviously understood that things were not going great for our table but he didn't ask what went wrong or what could be better. Missed opportunity for him. Dinner: most recently we went as a table of 4 for dinner. Everyone was pretty happy with their meals. I had the peach glazed salmon which was plentiful. Another guest at our table was happy that the flatbreads were gluten free. Unfortunately, after a guest placed their order the waiter returned 5 minutes later to say they ran out of that item. When we were choosing our wine for the meal, our waiter was not very helpful or knowledgeable. We wanted to get a bottle to share and he was very hesitant to ask the bartender for a taste before we purchased an entire bottle. They hesitantly brought a splash but it seemed like it was an annoyance. I would probably recommend doing a flight tasting unless you really know you would like the wine to get a bottle. Their wine seems much lighter and not as full bodied in comparison to wine that we normally drink (red wine). The ambiance inside was nice and relaxing. Our table was comfortable and clean.

I love this place. 4/5 because I feel like they need to broaden their menu out and offer some more items, but overall I will continue to go here. Live music on Friday's, that was a nice surprise! The gal was an extremely good singer! The ambiance is chill, relaxed, fancy vibes. But also very welcoming. I had the Greek flatbread. It was okay. I think maybe it needed some ingredients I can't quite pin point. Just kinda tasted like tomato sauce. Waited a while for the server to come by and get me a second drink. It wasn't that busy so I'm not sure why I took that long. But over all it's a good place. I've tried a few other things on other visits and they were very good, like the fries, the Brussels sprouts, and the steak frites.

I'm in LOVE! Waters Edge is just what Norfolk needed! I'm from out of town, but visit the Hampton Roads often. They've only been open a short time, but the owner welcomed us and gave us a lovely overview of the restaurant and the wine club. Do yourself a favor and sign up on Mondays for a discount! They've got a private room for special events, and a beautiful dining space with a balance of casual and intimacy. Great for friends or a date! Now to the food: my goodness it was divine! I ate too much food and didn't even snag pics! The Brussels sprouts weren't over seasoned, yet flavorful. The salmon was the star of the show! And the risotto was sensational! The wines were amazing! The Bordeaux is the star! My family enjoyed the red wine flight (you can customize or get the wines they recommend). Overall, Waters Edge is a 10/10! I cannot wait to return!

Met a few friends this was a half way meeting point. They have a wonderful menu and we each ordered a different flight and so enjoyed them very much Ordered: Sparkling Wine Flight Virginia Hot Crab Dip Italian Burrata Parmesan Truffle Fries Sangria Flight Wine Flight Charcuterie Board That gave us a large sampling of the menu and we shared almost everything That Burrata Salad was the best I've ever had. Our server Meagan was very attentive and did a great job. There's also an outside seating area

Gorgeous space! Went there for an office Christmas party, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the vibe and decor. Open concept, modern yet inviting. Beautiful and spacious outdoor heated patio! They have a full menu, but our private party had a limited menu. Portions were very small in my opinion, but everyone enjoyed the chicken, salmon, and curry entrees. I also do not drink wine, but the party of about 50 people enjoyed many varieties. Water's Edge even made up custom wine bottles four out company's owners as a group gist, complete with the logo. Really nice touch! Our wait staff for the private party could not have been more helpful and lovely. Highly recommend checking out this new spot in Norfolk!

This place is worth all the hype that it has been getting. First of all, love a place that has a family-friendly atmosphere. I was there with my large family and another large family came in... we were all just vibing. Our waitress, Amber made us feel like we were at home. Second, I love that we went on Saturday at 11:30 AM and we beat the Saturday lunch rush. Third, absolutely love their wines and will be back for more!!! Their wines have unique flavors. Most are light, pack a great fruity flavor, and are strrrroonnng! I highly recommend their wine flight and mimosa flight to try all of what they have to offer seasonally. That blackberry mimosa... I hope that stays in season forever. lol. I did love the food that we had. I had the chimichurri steak frites. It was light on the flavor but hearty. I didn't feel like anything was over or under seasoned. It truly was light. I love the way they make their fries which is important for someone like me who looks for the perfect crunch each time she eats fries. My brother had the Mediterranean salad with no protein and he really enjoyed it. It was delicious. The crab cakes seem small but MY GOD they are pretty dense and packed with crab meat. So so good. I would have preferred less onion in it but otherwise, a must try. The tortellini which I failed to take a photo of was also reeeaalllyyy good!!!!!!!! I definitely recommend ordering that if you're a pasta lover. The charcuterie board was pretty. I loved the mixed berry jam. It paired well with their house bread. I was sad that all the meats were pork since I don't eat pork. So I hope that they consider adding a beef option in the future. Everyone enjoyed the meats that were on the board. They felt that the cheeses were perfect pairings for what was there! This place is definitely going to be a "go-to" for my family when we dine out. Quality and service are both absolutely there!!!! I hope you can get yourself in here soon.

Visited Waters Edge Winery one Saturday morning with my bestie, and we had such a great experience! The inside is really nice, and the natural sunlight made it even better. We started with wine flights--Sangria for me and Red for my friend. The Sangria Flight included Green Apple Sangria, Toasted Coconut Sangria, Big Blueberry Sangria, and Blood Orange Sangria. I'm not usually a fan of coconut, but surprisingly, the Toasted Coconut and Big Blueberry were my favorites! We ordered a few starters to share (which I'm glad we did because the portions were generous!). We had the Norfolk Brussels (no feta), which were flash-fried Brussels sprouts with crispy bacon--absolutely delicious! We also tried the fries with the sauce on the side, crab cakes served with a tasty apple slaw, and a flatbread. Everything was flavorful, and we left feeling stuffed and satisfied. Service was great, and I can't wait to come back!

Super friendly staff and plenty of parking. Its quiet and a great restaurant to catch up with friends or a date night. I love that they had an Almond Sparkling and it was delicious. I also enjoyed most of the wine in the red wine flight. Our server Braden was friendly and attentive. My husband and I got the Fried Crab cakes. The slaw and the lemon vinaigrette were a great pairing and really good. We split the Edge Burger and the Chimichurri Steak and Frites. The burger was good and loved the chimichurri. While the steak was a little more medium well than medium, it was still good. Fries were delicious. Overall would recommend!

She discussed the history of Virginia wine and information about Virginia Born presidents. Our first stop was New Kent Winery and our host was great and very polite. The tasting was very informative and fun. Their wines were fantastic and the Vineyard was amazing. It wasn't on the itinerary, but Deanna put it on there. Next was Michie Tavern. We had lunch there and the buffet was great. The wine tasting, not so much. Third stop was Baubersville and the wine was ok. We weren't really a fan of the environment because I felt out of place even though I was dressed pretty nicely. Last stop was Horton and our host was amazing! We had so much fun! In the summer I tend to gravitate toward lighter, sweeter wines, so the flight felt like the perfect choice for the day. Not surprisingly, my taste buds traveled straight to Italy. If you enjoy Moscato-style wines, this one was definitely the highlight of the tasting for me. The winery itself has a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy a glass (or a flight). They also offer a selection of light bites if you want something to snack on while you're tasting. I ordered the house biscuits with jam and butter, which are made in-house, along with an order of fries. Both worked well as simple bites alongside the wine. If I had been with a group, I probably would have ordered the charcuterie board -- the one at the table next to me looked very generous and easily shareable. Service was friendly and welcoming, and since it wasn't overly crowded when I visited, it made for a relaxed afternoon tasting experience. After our tasting, we decided to sit down and order one of our longtime favorites: the short rib with mashed potatoes and vegetables. We hadn't had it in a few months because the last time was an epic fail, but we figured we'd give it another shot. As always, the pretzel bread and butter were a highlight -- that part never misses. The entrée, however, was another disappointment. The vegetables were noticeably undercooked -- still hard and crunchy -- and the dish came out with barely any sauce, even though I specifically asked for extra. For a short rib dish, you expect that rich, flavorful gravy to tie everything together... and it just wasn't there. A manager did come over after I pointed it out, and she genuinely tried to make it right, which I appreciated. We were offered another meal to take home, but at that point we were honestly just over it. To end on a positive note, I tried the Banoffee Pie for the first time (recommended by the manager), and it was actually really good -- rich, sweet, and worth trying. I also ordered their chocolate cake to go (which I usually love), but when I got home, it wasn't in the bag. I had to call for a refund, which they did handle -- but it just added to the overall frustration. At this point, it's become a pattern. When I first started coming here over a year ago, everything was consistently great. Lately, though, the dinner experience has been more miss than hit. We'll absolutely continue coming back for the wine tastings -- those are still top-tier. But for dinner? We're done trying.

If it wren't for the VIP room, you would have had to bring your own snacks OR buy it at the concession stand, which adds up. Needless to say I am always an advocate of going to this things with the VIP tickets or serious coordination with other people to bring your own food and get in on a table. Which is like $400 for 8 people, however if planned accordingly it could be a lot fun. Wine was not the only thing here! They had all sorts of jewelry, chocolates (liquored chocolates!) and Olive Oil tastings. So..if you needed a break from the wine, there were other things to taste. I was so glad to see some of my favorite Wineries there, as well as meet new favorites. Will definitely look for it next year!

When I saw on Taste Tidewater's Facebook post that there were only 3 spots left for their Oyster &…read moreWine tour, I reserved the same day! It is also my birthday month and have had my eye on this tour for awhile. It was fate! Not knowing what to expect, I jumped the gun and paid immediately. When Rex, the owner, sent the itinerary, I saw 3 local restaurants, Catch 31, Rockefeller's, & Tautogs. My first thoughts were, "I hope this isn't lame...", "I could go to these places myself..." The group met at Virginia Aquarium for an optional tour inside for the first 30mins. I arrived late. Now, I wish I made it on time to hear more about oysters. Rex tried finding the group for me & we walked all around the museum. It was way too crowded, I was late, & didn't mind waiting. Perhaps walkie talkies as a communication tool for the husband & wife team. Not just for late arrivals. :) Could be distracting too but, just a suggestion. The aquarium attendants had no idea who or where the group was. I did appreciate the effort. Not many would help me catch up with group especially, since I was late. Our first stop was Catch 31. Table was set and ready to go. We had three chefs(one including one of our guides, Chef Patrick Evans-Hylton) and the sommelier at our table. They educated us about the oysters & wine. They walked us through the various types of oysters & wine, regions, how to eat, & how to taste. We were served 4 oysters each from one of the 7 regions & two wine tastings. There were condiments and crackers on the table. I thought this was definitely the most informative restaurant out of the three. Next stop was Rockefeller's. Again, tables were set & wine was poured! No menu w/ descriptions. We had 2 raw oysters and 2 oysters rockefeller. Then, we were served hush puppies w/ pimento cheese which were amazing. Last, was coconut cake! This restaurant had more food offerings which was good because after several glasses of wine, I was hungry & others were too!! Last stop was Tautog's. They sat us outside & setup was more buffet style. Glasses of wine were on a table for us to pick up as we walked in. The presentation was beautifully prepared. They had 3 of their house sauces which were delicious! I thought the sauces were needed with these oysters. Others agreed. Didn't taste as fresh as the previous restaurants. I believe they were Lynnhaven and I've had Lynnhaven oysters before. So, not a reflection on the tour. There was also fresh cut fruit on the oyster platters. Only because TT asked, my recommendations would be: * Posting sample itineraries on social media * Clearer description of what to expect with regards to food so people know whether or not they should eat prior to the tour or pack a snack/sandwich. * Website shows they would be "happy to provide water and light snacks." None were offered. * Market/advertise the 10% off Yelp Check-in offer * Advise up front the 10% off Yelp Check-in is NOT valid for the Oyster & Wine tour. A portion of proceeds go towards non-profit which I totally understand & appreciate, just set the expectation. Overall, this was a lovely experience that one can comfortably do solo! I did and I truly enjoyed! Hands down. I am so happy to see a company like this on the East Coast and executing with such class. Please don't think this is a drunken wild party bus. It is a tasteful informative experience with subject matter experts who also enjoy partaking in libations while sharing their knowledge! :) I hope to see more food tours added to their current list. Rex, Lisa, & Chef Patrick were cordial, knowledgable, fun, and professional. Thank you so much for a memorable experience!

We were the only patrons for much of our visit. My birthday daughter and I ordered wine sample flights and chatted up the owner. Wife shopped the gift area and picked out a nice bauble. The good: the owner was very engaging and told us about the wines (and wine slushies) they offer. We asked where the grapes came from and she explained that some came from Chile, some from California (I believe) and other places, and that she blends them here. (This would be expected with no attached vineyard.) The place was very clean, and the restrooms were easily accessible and spacious. The price of the flights was a mere $5 for six communion cup sized samples -- you choose 6 of I guess 12 - 15. Mulled wine is a welcome option on a winter day. The disappointing: While there is a good assortment of wines, and many were on the good side of okay, none stood out and said BUY A BOTTLE OF ME. The fruity sweet wines were VERY sweet, not really good for dessert wine or sipping. (Sorry.) But again, the reds especially were drinkable and pleasant. Verdict: a good stop if you need a break and a glass or two to go with your conversation. Just don't set expectations too high and you'll be fine.

Wine is made on site in the distillery and she has been in business for 8 years. We visited on a Saturday and there was a couple of vendors on site selling merchandise. 5 bucks for 6 samples is definitely reasonable. We indulged in the fruit infused wines, draft wines and slushies. I must say the draft wines were delicious and I wished those were bottled so I could have brought them home. All in all great places and would definitely stop in again.
