They work on a reloadable card here like Dave n' busters. The atm machine here wasn't working and there wasn't an attendant around to help either. Cool, clean place to play games if you can get the atm and their machine that gives the cards to work.

    Broken machines

Worst arcade I've ever been to. Didn't even trust the machines to even attempt to buy credits to play. A good 1/2 to 3/4 of machines were broken, powered off, or had some "game is still programming" sign which doesn't even make sense in any case. In a resort are, where parking is $10 and it's bloody hot out, you shouldn't even open for business in this state. Waste of time, and staff behind prize counter looked unamused as can be.

    Game card

My boyfriend and I had a fun time at this beach arcade. It was a nice walking distance from our resort (5th street end of the oceanfront). Although some of the machines were out of order, they had other or alternative games to play--so our experience wasn't too impacted. It was nice that we could load money ("credits") onto a game card to then just swipe at each game until it was time to cash in or reload. We played for about 20 or 30 minutes with $20 on our game card, ultimately cashing in for some individual candy. The staff were very friendly and the place was clean. Would recommend!

We recently hosted a birthday party at Flipper McCoy's in Virginia Beach and overall had a really…read morefun and positive experience. The biggest downside was the heat, especially upstairs in the laser tag area. It was uncomfortably hot and could definitely use better ventilation. The party room itself is on the smaller side and felt very cramped (only accommodates 12 bodies comfortably) and was warm too. The arcade noise carries in even with the door closed as the walls don't go up to the ceiling, but noise is expected in an arcade setting. That said, there were a lot of thoughtful touches that really stood out. The party room was decorated well, with detailed under the sea murals on the wall, and the place settings were surprisingly nice with sturdy glowing plastic plates, cups, and neatly arranged silverware that matched the neon and black-light theme. It made it feel more put-together than typical party setups. (Even though I decorated with my own decorations and partyware, as the birthday girl had a particular theme she wanted.)Our party attendant made it a point to check in to empty trash and make sure everything was going smoothly. One of the most appreciated features was that parents could watch the laser tag games from downstairs on the screens, and a few were even allowed to jump in and play with their kids at no extra charge, which was awesome. The kids absolutely loved the variety of arcade games and had a blast. Party pricing and packages were comparable to other venues, with three options to choose from, and we really liked being able to bring our own food and drinks. They were also very accommodating, since there wasn't a party before ours, they let us in early to decorate at no extra cost, and they didn't rush us out at the end, only asking for 30 minutes to reset the room for the next group. That flexibility made a huge difference, especially since we had the largest party package with multiple laser tag rounds plus arcade time, cake, and food. Parking was a bit tricky, but that was expected at the oceanfront (and we were glad it was the off-season). Most importantly, the kids had an amazing time and the birthday girl is already asking to have another party there, which says it all. A FUN venue with great staff and party flexibility, just be prepared for the heat, especially upstairs, the typical arcade noise (even in the party room) and the frustration of VB Oceanfront parking, as there isn't dedicated parking for the venue.

Maybe that is the reason we were the only folks in the arcade. We ended up with enough tickets to get 6 pieces of "penny candy". So I'd say skip the arcade and take your kiddo to the dollar store and let them come out with 5 or 10 dollars worth of stuff. Also we paid $12 to park in the lot behind the arcade. So a costly 15 minute experience.

We came…read morein on a busy Saturday afternoon, and even with the crowds, the staff kept everything running smoothly. First off, this place is HUGE. There's truly something for everyone. We started at the bowling alley (our main event), and the lanes were clean, the scoring system was intuitive, and the party host made sure our group was set up and having fun. Despite a lot of guests bowling at once, wait times were reasonable and the lanes had comfortable seating areas for everyone to relax between turns. Apex has a gigantic arcade, axe throwing, bumper cars, an immersive dark ride, escape rooms, high-speed go-kart racing, Hologate VR, laser tag, mini golf, pool tables, a ropes course, and even sports simulators! If you can't find something you enjoy here, it probably doesn't exist. Everything was well-maintained, and the staff at each attraction were friendly and helpful, making sure everyone knew how to play and was having a good time. Food and drinks definitely exceeded my expectations for an entertainment venue. The bars are fully stocked, and the food menu ranges from classic favorites to more upscale options like pizza, burgers, wings, and salads were all fresh and tasty. Our server was attentive, had great recommendations, and was super quick with drink and food orders, which made our party even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a location for a night out with friends, a kids party, or even an adult party ... Apex is your spot.

Our only issue was when we went to the floor with the escape room to purchase tickets the person who helped us let us know what time the next escape and axe throwing session were and then we asked if we could do the minigolf course before the escape room. She said yes and charged us for it. Originally we had asked for 2 separate checks since we were with friends. But she just did it on one check and split the cost. She gave us only on receipt for it. When we went to the mini golf course there was a wait of about 8-9 people just for the first hole because of how over filled it was with kids. Kids just running around everywhere. We went back and just asked for a refund for the mini golf and we would just wait for the escape room since we didn't realize it was that packed with kids in there. We only had 25 minutes to kill and the first hole alone would take us those 25 minutes. The same person did the refund BUT she didn't tell us it would not be a refund but put it on two apex gift cards to use as credit....... She did not communicate this to us at all. She just said here you go and handed us those cards. I asked what is this and she said your refund.... That is not a refund that's like store credit. And we wouldn't have minded that if she just communicated it was non refundable.

My boyfriend and I have visited 3 times prior to me leaving this review and each time we've had issues with the tap room card readers. The advertised price per fluid ounce isn't tabulated correctly on their systems and we've been overpriced each visit. We've brought the issue up to the staff before and one of our drinks were comped but overall not a great fix if you were to bring a large group or have more than 1 or 2 beverages. Game play was good in my opinion, unless you are a fan of pinball. Respectable selection but the gameplay is subpar. Most of the machines are missing lights or key switches to story modes. Also, pinabll being $1.00 per play with some of them having no ball save and high scores required for free play. There was a decent selection of games to choose from and about 8 or 9 pinball machines which attracted us there to begin with. Most of the games are $1 to play minus ski ball for $0.25 per play. We've never tried the food but each time we've gone we have seen people enjoying a plate or two. Cleanliness: overall the arcade area is pretty clean no major problems but the restrooms were a bit subpar in my opinion. The attached photo was taken 39 min after opening and there were zyn pouches and toilet paper on the stall floor. With the amount of people present at the time I think it was safe to say the restroom was not properly cleaned the evening prior. We'll continue to visit due to the purely due to the lack of arcades in the area but I probably won't put my card down for a bar tab again.

The restroom felt abandoned, floor was wet with ZERO caution signs or warnings . Btw the person that actually did clean the restroom was the sole person that actually gave a damn cuz I seen them in the office doing other work. There are 100 children of varying ages all crammed in the same section and the "staff" are sitting on the benches on their phones hire people who actually give a damn about safety or shut tf down before someone gets seriously hurt and I know nobody is paying attention because when I walked up the ramp to get my young ones for immediate departure, I had my shoes on.. nobody stopped me.. crazy what y'all got going on here.. do not come here! We've been to other locations and they have way more to offer. The "prizes" are SHEIN quality. Their employees are helpful but need to clean better. Every table or area we took a break at was dirty and we came during a slow time so it was not busy at all. The bathrooms were so nasty that I had to go out to the mall to take my little to use the restroom. We don't normally eat here during our morning visits so I can't say much on their food or drinks. Overall, if it wasn't for the kids asking to stop by I would never frequent this location. We now tend to go across the street to the small crane arcade afterwords to at least get some bang for our bucks.

I kept the children at the table because the food was to be served at 1045 but was not served until 1100 which made it more difficult for us to stay on schedule. 5. The "unlimited" green games was very unfortunate as the amount of green games was extremely minimal. I was very shocked at how little games were actually green. It would be very nice if after the $10 is spent that the kids could still play any game but just not receive tickets. That truly limited them and was such a bummer. 6. Multiple cards (to include my birthday boys bracelet) stopped working even for green games. While they worked to fix this it took away even more of their playing time which was very frustrating. The employees also wanted to know which kid and which games specifically thinking it was a game issue so that too took time to work through. 7. The gratuity auto placed on the receipt is not just on food but also on the cost of the game cards which is strange. In addition it is not listed as gratuity but something else which had I not prepared for that ahead of time I would have missed this entirely. 8. I ordered 3 platters (grapes/strawberries/cheese) and bacon (but this was per person pricing of a side) it would be very nice if you offered some sides options in addition to the two pancakes per person for this breakfast party. The other times have so many options and this one I had to piece together to feel complete. Over all the host for our party was very kind and worked her best for us I feel. But there were multiple unfortunate frustrations for us which was a bummer.

My cousin was visiting from out of town and he had mentioned it would be cool if there was a ferris wheel near the ocean. The ferris wheel here came to mind. As long as I've lived here I had always passed by it but never rode it. Upon entering my cousin got excited about the (water gun) game. The employee running it was pleasant and we got a bunch of smiles out of him. It was really fun and my cousin won a super cute tiger for a family member of ours. It came with a hefty price tag though. Before we even played I told him he would be better off just buying a stuffed animal in a store. But the prize he was seeking ticked off all the boxes. Plus there's a fun, enjoyable story to tell behind it. It cost $30 total to win. Yeah I know. It actually was truly enjoyable but if he hadn't been visiting I would have never came to check out this Fun Park. After that we rode the ferris wheel which was a good time as well. You are able to see the ocean from it, which was nice. It was great to have a different perspective of VA Beach. Tickets were roughly $6 a piece. Each ride takes a certain number of tickets and you purchase them at the ticket booth right across from it as well for tickets to other rides. You get 3 full rides around on the wheel. We were the only ones on it too. They do accept credit card but they tack on a 3.5 % service charge to do so. We roamed the rest of the park just to check it out. The other rides look pretty beat. It was so quiet in there, for me that's a plus because there were no crowds and it was rather peaceful. However, it was so quiet that when we looked around I didn't notice the ride attendants standing around their station. They looked like permanent fixtures of the rides. It was eerily quiet for a fun park on a September Sunday afternoon. It would've been a perfect backdrop setting for the beginning of a zombie apocalypse movie. It felt like a place where hopes and dreams come to die. What actually brought life to the park were the colorful, beautiful hibiscus flowers dispersed throughout the grounds. We spent roughly 30-45 minutes there. There aren't many rides and they could use some sprucing up. It has potential. It also has a high price point because it's at the oceanfront.

I normally don't do carnival ferris wheels, however, this ferris wheel was a very good experience and worth it. The wheel circles high enough to get a good high view of the skyline of Virginia Beach at night. The ride and game attendants were also friendly. Overall a good experience.
