I was there tonight June 27th, and the service was unacceptable. The staff was rude to my younger siblings immediately upon entering and proceeded to close the lanes early despite us still having time to play. That is something we had already paid for and it was ended early out of selfishness. Would not recommend. read more

The place is clean. They can accommodate large groups. Shoe rental is $4.50 per person. Games are $7.00 each. We were almost done with our first game and one of the staff came over and asked if they could move us one lane over to accommodate a larger group. We didn't mind. We went bowling Wednesday evening, we had 7 in our party, including 3 kids. Equaled out to be about 14 bucks a person after closing out including 2 fries and a beer. The staff was friendly and got the kids their balls. You can tell it's a older building but the staff is taking good care of it. I saw comments of an oder but we didn't notice anything. I was about to take a step into the place when I was told to, "stay right there". The unfriendly attendant told me I could not bring a present into the facility. I was meeting family members, who live locally, for an evening of bowling. That's what my 4-year-old great-nephew wanted to do on his birthday. When I asked why there was a "no presents rule", I was told there was no "walk in birthday parties". I couldn't find anywhere on the website where it states this. We were a group of adults with 2 kids and had 3 birthday presents total and we were barred from entering. My niece had tried to pre-book a "birthday party" and was told they don't book parties on a Friday. The only signage said no outside food or drink. The plan was to purchase pizza and drinks at the bowling alley. Instead, we took our business elsewhere and won't be going back due to their unreasonable policies and unfriendly staff. read more

Stephen with a PH is the best bowling alley attendant this world has to offer! He made our night bowling the most fantastic night only dreams are made of! We came with a massive party about 14 people and he managed to get us all bowling an entire game under 45 minutes! This man deserves a trophy from the bowling gods! Food stops 2 hours before close and beer cuts off 1 hour before close, but other than that a pretty decent place.

Bowling was ok. I was extremely confused on what to put in the holes on the ball. Ball magnet to the gutter I guess bc it kept going there. My ball was extremely wet and squishy. Best part yet was the keg urinal. Loved the seating on it. Hooray! I came in last place bc they didn't like me bc I'm a senior citizen. read more

June 2021 visit. Bowling Counter staff FAR friendlier and cost FAR cheaper than a lot of prior reviews. Obviously their experience is not for me to judge but I am compelled to point out there's a fair volume of negative reviews that do not match today's experience. Lanes were oiled upon opening. Ok so i was here to visit .me and my friends bowled 1 game and went to arcade this is were things go down. So i payed money in the arcade machine i got my card and started playing. Well when i went to start my card said 0 balance and when i went to and they said no refunds i should have got a higher card in a very rude way. VERY overpriced. I spent over $100 for myself and my kids for 2 games. Granted it's the only place in the OBX to bowl but they don't offer ANY discounts (military, coupons) when we went even though it was dead (off season). We didn't even order food. The make manager was very pleasant and accommodating. We had fun it just was VERY VERY overpriced, especially considering it's a bit outdated. OBX Bowling was pretty clean but very expensive. It cost us (a party of 12) $123 just to bowl one game as that's not including the $70 we spent on arcade games. The reason for the two stars isn't for the price but for the unfriendly staff. Not once did we get a smile or a thank you. We arrived around 9:10pm and played one game and wanted to play another at 10:20 but was told they close at 11pm so we couldn't. There are a bunch of kids that are running the place and seem to be more concerned about leaving than customers. Kids had a great time but we could've went elsewhere and gotten better service for way less money. Tip: Don't waste your money. Go miniature golfing or if looking for something indoors, maybe the movie theaters. read more

What a clean, cool and fun place! Not too over crowded in the day/afternoon either. Friendly employees, clean facilities and a great snack bar too! Prices were very reasonable. Shoes were comfortable. Nice ceiling fans that helped the A/C keep us cool. We enjoyed ourselves so much the first time we went back again during our vacation! Highly recommend! This place was awesome! Love that old school bowling alley type of feel. A lot of the places around DC are too fancy and takes away from just the basic bowling experience. When you rent shoes, they take your personal shoes and return them at the end. I think it was about ~$4 to rent shoes. The screens for inputting your name and tracking the scores were user friendly. I've definitely encountered bowling alleys where the screens arent intuitive so it was nice that we didn't have any issues here. It was a fun environment, after every turn there was a funny animation that played including headshots of the bowlers. read more

Considering they are one of the only bowling alleys near nags head, I didn't expect much going in. Looks - Aesthetically, they had the place fairly clean and it looked like they recently renovated things especially the bowling lanes and systems. 5/5 Price - For a Friday night and a group of 9 guys, we had an alright deal. You can either choose to pay a flat rate per lane per hour + shoes or pay per game + shoes. We ended up doing the flat rate per lane and paid about $18 each for 2 hours of bowling. These prices would have been much worse if we had less people. 3/5 Bowling experience - The staff seemed less than happy to help us most of the time. The bowling systems were new and updated but the lanes themselves weren't maintained well. The oil patterns on these lanes were one of the worst that Ive experienced and the lanes got clogged way to easily. We had to have staff unclog the bowling balls twice in 1 hour of bowling and they blamed us both times for bowling at the same time when that shouldn't be a problem anywhere else. They only have a small selection of bowling ball weights and they took away one of our lighter balls even though we needed it. Finally, they gave us brand new shoes to bowl in that weren't broken in. That's a serious leg injury that thankfully none of us experienced but absolutely was infuriating. 0/5 read more

The bowling area and arcade seem ok but I really didn't have the opportunity to enjoy it... I live 3 blocks from this place and decided to take my wife and daughter here for a good evening activity... looks clean and the shoe rental/lane attendants at the front desk were awesome. Ok. Cool good music, pretty laidback inside and not to many customers due to the Seafood Festival in town. Walk to our lane and put names into the computer, search around a little bit for some of the bowling balls whatever... got our stuff, ready to begin bowling and say...."hey let's grab a pitcher of beer and some snacks".... That's where this story goes bad.... We go to the counter after watching the menu flip screens and my Wife and Daughter order their snacks and a pitcher of beer. The EXTREMELY RUDE cashier "man"? I guess you may call him... I'm 43 and he was at least my age, no offense, but this grown man proceeded to talk down to my girls.... Rude about the menu... apparently the menu had changed from the digital one we had seen about 15 seconds earlier... when I say rude I mean REALLY REALLY RUDE. The dude challenges me to step out and I say ok cool.... Let's step out and talk. Manager, who's about 26, comes out and asks what can we do to fix this? Ok fair enough... I would like an apology and nothing more.... Well no apologies offered and was threatened by the cashier... (not the guy he sent to defuse), at this point I feel there should be a private discussion amongst grown men. AGAIN I was asked to step out and AGAIN I was just fine with a private conversation to no avail.... Unless you're one of the buddies of these people I highly recommend another place. ANY OTHER PLACE... I'm local and was seriously dumped on so if you're visiting you can skip this place.. this is a place you can be judged and treated like GARBAGE. If that's your thing enjoy, otherwise do literally ANYTHING ELSE. I'm leaving ONE star because there is no lower rating. Negative 5 would be a much more accurate rating. read more

Being there isn't much to do on the Outer Banks during the winter... thought bowling would be fun to take the kids to do on a rainy Sunday... ended up costing us the amount for a weeks worth of groceries. They should really be more clear about $6.50 per game PER PERSON. That adds up with a small family and only two games. They should consider giving a local's or off-season discount, considering they make a killing off the tourist during the busy season. read more

This is the only bowling alley in OBX, and therefore: 1. On the rainy Wed when we visited, it was quite busy 2. They can also charge moderately high fees- $4 for each player to rent shoes, plus $5.75 PER PERSON PER GAME. Considering you can easily play 3 games on a rainy day, for a family of four this is an expensive outing. Overall, our visit was very fun, and as this is the only bowling alley, we will likely visit again at some point in the future... A few things for new visitors to note: 1. We waited a long time to get checked in and set up with a lane. The same cashier checking people in was also the cashier checking people out. This led to a traffic jam at the front counter... 2. Once we got to our lane, we had a great time. The alleys lanes are pretty new, and they have some great features for kids- bumper lanes that come up for the kids and go down for adults, and dinosaurs that help little kids bowl. 3. They also had a great soundtrack going- everything from Michael Jackson and R Kelly to more current stuff... very danceable. read more

We have been coming to this establishment for years, it's a perfect locals rainy day activity. However, today their rules have changed! If you aren't under 11 you aren't allowed to use bumpers. To me this is outrageous, I'm an unskilled bowler and the fact their discriminating against people by their age is unacceptable. I'm thinking of filing a law suit because this could technically be ageism. I would give a negative rating if so could! read more

The staff is very friendly, modern lanes! It's a family fun source of entertainment for the OBX! Kids love the arcade games, air hockey and pool tables! Prices are in line with other bowling alleys we've been to. Food is good with a good variety! read more

We had a number of days on our last vacation where it rained and we need to find an indoor activity. OBX Bowling was it. Really nice facility, clean well maintained and friendly people. Some have complained about the prices, but I don't see their rate structure any worse than the bowling alleys around where we live. read more

A rainy day retreat with the kids but greeted by a sour female attendant who had too many rules. We weren't allowed to use more than 2 lanes for a party of 8 children. When we tried to pay separately, she would t allow it stating we were all one family and would pay together and bowl together. She was rude. We came back here to bowl as we have in years past but will certainly think twice about this in the future. Be prepared to follow her rules if you come with children. Obviously our money and business isn't that important to her. Every business we have visited here in the OBX has valued our business. This is the first that has made us feel unwelcome. Clean. Modern bowling. The gentleman seemed nice who was behind the counter. We were going to bowl longer, grab some beers and eat lunch here but chose to leave after 1 game. read more

Great facility lots of Video Games, snack bar had a good selection of food & beverages, staff could use some work. that being said checking in we asked the price for locals since it seemed higher than the last time we were there. When we asked about it the female attendant got an attitude & was short with us to the point where we almost left.. This place is average. As far as bowling goes, it's a regular business. It kind of has a bad smell too. The one thing that made my review a 2 star is a very stupid rule about bumpers. There is an age limit to the kids having bumpers. If your 12 or older, you can't have bumpers. You have to put in consideration of skill and strength, not just age. I would not recommend going to OBX bowling. read more
