With the mist and many places to hide they all came out sweating and smiles on their face. BUT where is the concession stand! The arcade itself was nice and pretty decent overall, but the experience felt a little off. No one greeted us or spoke to us at all the entire time, which made it uncomfortable, especially since we were the only African Americans there. I'm not saying the business is like that, but it did feel a bit weird. Also, a lot of the games were out of order, and the prize selection wasn't great since there was barely anything to choose from unless you had over 200 tickets. This is an enjoyable spot at the beach to spend a few hours with the kids out of the heat. They won't break the bank either and are really well maintained and clean. Large variety of things to do and plenty of parking. The laser tag here is really great! So many levels and areas to hide and transition from, and it last a solid time, not one of these minute to play places. Super cool guns too, they have two modes for sharp shooting or up close battle. Nags Head, Outer Banks, NC. Cool little place. The games run on pre-loaded cards, which is pretty standard, these days. Don't bother looking for any classic arcade games; there are none. These are the high-dollar $2/game variety. Some are cool; others, not so much. They do need to replace the basketballs on the shooting games in the corner; the rubber panels are peeling on them! Makes it hard to shoot the balls. I was drawn to the giant Galaga/Pac-Man game, which is more along my groove. Got the high score on Galaga...ha! Place is good for some entertainment. We were visiting family and were looking for things to do with our three year old in the off season. We asked to buy a ticket for the bounce house, but we were told they wouldn't blow up bounce houses for a single child. So, we asked to buy two tickets at $8.50 each, so my three year old could bounce and get out some wiggles and she said it wouldn't be fair for me to pay $17. I stated it would be more fair to let me pay for two than to deny my child the opportunity to bounce and I got a blank stare. It sure seemed like it wouldn't have mattered how many children were there, they just didn't want to inflate the bounce house. So, we bought a few tokens to play some games. My son got very frustrated because many of the games didn't give any tickets or, when they did, they often weren't the right amount of tickets. Then my son tripped and cut himself on a sharp edge in the game room, so it was time to leave. IMHO, there's little to do in the off season, but I'd rather stare blankly at a wall for hours than put up with service this bad. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. More like destination rip off. We spent $60 on arcade points, each game was about 8-20 points to play. We went through 3 cards (about $20 each) in about 10 minutes. As a former employee, i can honestly say, the coin games are rigged. If you win something from a game and it gets stuck, they tell you to tell the customer, "I'm sorry, there is nothing I can do!" Doesn't matter if you just spent 50.00 to win it!! If the manager is there though, there is something they can do. If you have kids under 5, you're better off going somewhere else. They cannot play lasertag or ride the bumper cars. Unless the owner is there, he will take everyone's money!! The owner hates Americans and women! Does not have his labor laws posted for his employees and also does not give his employees, breaks while working a 10 hour shift. I quit this place, I was not fired and I'm sure you can see why! I found a sharpened metal stake over 18" long when peeking around in the bounce house before my grandchildren started jumping. Manager refused to provide the name and phone number of the owner. Now our 2 year old granddaughter also has cuts on her feet from being in another bounce attraction and we don't know why. and we are on the way to take her to the hospital. BEWARE!!!! Horrible place!! They have surveillance but refused to review it to see who placed sharp objects in the bounce attractions. There is an open police investigation on this. Parents BEWARE. In my opinion and based on our families' experience here, I strongly do not recommend this place. We took our family here on a rainy, cold day in OBX. The layout is random and cramped. We played some of the arcade games there, but in my opinion there's not a great selection. This, however, was the least of our concerns. The kids wanted to go in the play area with bouncy houses. In my opinion, this play area is not safe for kids. There are multiple bouncy houses in the play area, and some are right against the walls to the play area. For example, a slide from the small kids' bounce house came down right near the wall. These walls are wooden and not padded. Additionally, the play area does not have padding on the floor - it is concrete with a thin carpet over it. If the kids climb or jump off the bouncy house, there is a good chance they'll get hurt. If you have active kids like we do, watch out! Finally, the place is dirty in my opinion. We saw large, dead roaches - laying on their back with their feet in the air - in multiple areas in the building. One was near a trash can and one was under a chair. To be fair, we didn't do the laser tag or putt putt golf. Maybe that's better? Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

Total Ripoff - The blonde lady attendant said the ticket buying machine was not working. She took cash, $20 each for 2 tickets, $40 total. The 2 tickets only each had only 50 credits each. 2 children. One $20 ticket each. They were used up in less than 10 minutes. The minimum charged for any game was 3 credits. Most took 6 or more credits. The wack a mole type game took 6 credits for one hammer hit. Biggest rip off since the Bernard Madoff Ponzi Scheme. You would easily spend $100 for an hour with 1 child. Plus I question if the cash ended up with the shady owners or with the shady addendent. read more

This place is better than the rating it's received on here. It is clean, the staff was friendly, and it kept the kids busy for 90 minutes. What more can you want? First, the bouncy castle part--more than enough to keep the little ones occupied for an hour. I was here with a group of 5-7 year olds and they had a grand time. Price was $8.50 per child in June of 2019 (2-hour limit). The arcade area is nice--machines are modern and in working order. Tickets and coins are both card-based. There are racers, a couple fighting games, and carnival classics like skee ball and the big reel. Plenty of seating (plastic armchairs and some larger tables for groups) for parents to play on their phone or otherwise relax for a bit. Did not try laser tag. read more

The moon bounce area is enough to keep the kids active for a while. Some games like the air gun are busted and way off target. The arcade has the right mix of games for big and small kids. The bathroom doesn't have a diaper changer even though kids with diapers are likely to play on the rides. This place's biggest downside is that it is so small and parking is very limited. We were looking for something to do on a rainy day. The "mini" golf is the size of a living room. Thankfully the girl at the front asked if we wanted to take a look first. The arcade is sorta ok, but a game that would normally be 25-50 cents is a dollar. The bouncy area is for 8 & under only, so our kids couldn't even play on it (9, 10, 11 years old). The ticket muncher broke while the kids were feeding it. The manager was pretty impatient with his employee about taking the filled can of tickets out of the bottom. Then they both just left us standing there with the machine open. The employee was visibly conscious of our experience, but was unable to do anything. In OBX for spring break and it's pouring today. I came to Destination fun in part due to a lot of online descriptions listing indoor mini golf-glow in dark. Surprise-I asked to buy tickets and Kill Devil Hills location doesn't have it. A total bummer. This is contrary to a good bit of detail online stating the contrary. So I purchase laser tag tickets and inquire about the wait-an hour (#3 in and we are #5). I buy bumper car tickets and grudgingly put $40 on two arcade cards. Arcade is totally overpriced. I inquire and am told that laser tag lasts just 10 minutes and that there is a 15 minute video prior to. For the life of me I can't figure out why this place doesn't rotate in the next class to watch a video while one is playing. I ask my kids and it turns out the place only has enough vests for one class at a time. They can rotate in twice as many laser tag players if they buy a dozen more vests. And of course I then realize people would then either not play arcade games or play less. So-no mini golf and the arcade is total waste. Bumper cars were fun but last 3 minutes. Go bowling-go to the trampoline center in Manteo. This place isn't worth it. PS-the day we went there were 200-300 people inside-1 working toilet in the place (2nd was out of order due to a diaper). No urinals or separate mens women's rooms; 1 working toilet in the place. read more

Destination Fun? More like Destination Ripoff. One rainy day in OBX, I decided to take my daughter to this place for some fun. Little did I realize what lie behind the eye-catching front of the building. We entered and were greeted, but given no instructions or information as to how this place operates (how does somebody pay for the arcade games, where to go, etc). So we wondered into the arcade. The games looked fun for a kid under 10. So we walked around, checked out all the games, but I couldn't figure out where to pay for these games. Figured out they took a pay card, but how does somebody get one of them? Had to walk back to the entranceway, track down the attendant, and ask. She points to some machines in the room. I go over, 1 machine isn't working. I figure out how to buy a gamecard, and spend $20. We go in. I quickly realized this was going to be an expensive trip. The games worth playing are at least 6 credits (25 cents/credit, 6 credits, that's $1.50 folks). She played a few games and they went real quick. Within 10 minutes, the $20 gamecard is exhausted. So I go back, reload the card with another $20. I tried to make this one last a little more, find not-so-quick games to play, but she's done in 15 minutes. Ok, so these games give tickets for points 'earned' during game play. Great. She's playing these games, earns 375 pts. We're done inside of 30 minutes for $40, and that was me trying to stretch out the time. Ok, so we to go see what she can get for these 375 pts. Her choices? I've seen better junk inside of those .25 cent machines at the grocery stores. It's an absolute joke what these kids are offered. It's stuff you would throw out because the kid played with it once, layed it down, and never looked at it again. No candy available either, which is a rip. Candy is cheap, and alot more interesting to a kid than a tiny plastic snake the size of my fingernail that cost you about .0005 cents, but cost me $20 for my daughter to 'earn' 75 points to have the honor of picking out. She stood there for the longest time, half in shock at how little there was to choose from in the way of prizes, and half in shock at how 375 points got her basically nothing from the redemption center. She chose 3 items, and predictably ignored them by late afternoon. Look, this isn't about dad being cheap. This is about total greed by this glorified/commercialized arcade. I shouldn't have to spend $300 so my kid can earn enough points to win an action figure that cost maybe $12 in Walmart. I can't fathom how much money would be needed to earn enough points for the Nerf Blaster or other 10,000+ point items at the redemption center. I noticed other kids standing there in disbelief at how much junk there was and how much it cost in points. I felt bad for my daughter and all kids who go through that experience. Destination Fun? Destination Ripoff. Destination Disappointment. Destination Avoid. Destination Throw Your Money Away. Be warned people. Find other arcades. We go to OCMD, they balance out the cost with the fun. Went here on a rainy day...arrived about 20 minutes after the place had opened. Obviously it was packed because of the bad weather, however, management didn't take that in to account and only 1 man, I assume the owner, was working. While we were waiting to pay for the bounce castle 2 employees showed up, he reprimanded one and fired the other one on the spot, in front of many customers! Most arcade games were out of tickets and the owner got mad if you told him the machines were out of tickets....did I not just spend MY money on these games?!! Really pretty bad. We are two childless adults and thought we would go play some 3D black -light mini golf. We didn't play laser tag or any of the arcade games, so the one star just pertains to the golf. First, it was a very confusing lay-out. We couldn't tell where the first hole was, and wandered back and forth on the course for a few minutes. Holes were not clearly marked and the dots on which to place your balls were not clearly marked. Second, it wasn't 3D at all. We were expecting a set-up where you had to wear 3D glasses to see the blacklight designs pop. No. This was just blacklight golf. We felt misled, especially for $6.50 a person! That's pretty steep for a mini golf course, especially on a poorly designed course. read more

Find another Destination. First, the doors opened 20 minutes late. Then the woman at the counter was told by the male "manager" to not sell anyone multiple tickets for anything "in case we get busy". So, instead of being able to get four games of laser tag and one game of golf, we had to buy one game and then stand in the ridiculous line each time. The line is ridiculous because there is one employee to manage both sales of golf, bounce room, and laser tag, as well as cash in people's tickets from the arcade. The setup of the place routes the register line straight towards the door and coin exchange machines, causing a huge bottleneck. The laser tag was ok, but several people complained of malfunctioning equipment. The equipment was not set aside for repair aferwards, just put on the rack for the next sucker to discover. The man running it gave a simple briefing and showed a video to 8 of us, then allowed another 8 inside without a briefing or video. Golf was a waste. The 9 holes were unimaginative and very basic. The course was run down and the holes lacked barriers in many areas, which caused balls to enter other people's play area. We didn't go in the bounce area because it was for tiny kids. There was an unexplained bucket of water in the kids play area. Fortunately no one drowned in it. The bathroom was disgusting, and this was after only 30 minutes of being open. Oh, and there were no functioning lights in the single toilet bathrooms. We had to use our phones to see. The management eventually got the lights working, and only then could we see the mess we were standing in. Apparently the place has more than just an electrical problem in the bathroom. After about an hour there, the laser tag venue went down and refunds were issued to all of us waiting to play. The place is loud, the staff is rude, many of the arcade games are broken. The "prizes" for the tickets earned from some of the games are pitifully cheap. We gave it a chance, but this will not be a Destination we will return to. read more

Went here today with about 12 folks. Only $20 each for play-all-day. The staff was very welcoming-- letting us in 15 minutes before they opened, and let us try a bunch of different laser tag games. Outside was sort of shabby, though, but don't judge it based on the looks. Would definitely go back, and certainly superior to gearworks down the road. read more
