Sadly, we were pretty disappointed with the actual product we got. When you get the canvas it shows what the image is supposed to look like when it's completed, and it comes with paints. I don't know what I expected but I got a canvas that had a hand drawn, in pencil, horse on it. That's it. With written instructions. Honestly I didn't mind the canvas being hand drawn but please get someone to do a better drawing? I don't know. For $30 each it's just not what i personally expected. I think overall maybe just stick with the classes and skip this part.

You know, stained glass crabs, smartly exposed prints under sandy piers, driftwood centerpieces, and an irresistible print of a few sandpipers in a rough wooden frame. The store itself was clean and well lit--not too crowded, not too sparse. The proprietor, Dee Isenhour, was willing to talk and talk up her artists; it was clear that she liked them as people and admired their offerings. And she wasn't surprised, but she was surely delighted when we showed up two days later to buy the sandpipers.

There were a lot of beautiful selections, but at the end of the day I felt that the price of most items was a little too high to justify the purchase. Even for shops in this genre where you'd expect higher price points (independent spiritual shops in small towns that feature a decent selection of locally-sourced merchandise from local artisans), the prices felt a bit high. That all being said, I would imagine that there is a customer base of folks living in or visiting the Outer Banks who could more easily swing the higher price point than I could. It was so much fun, perfect for all levels of creativity/skill, and the instructor/owner was delightful. I changed my mind on my project shortly after beginning & asked if I could do a different design, offering to pay for the supplies I'd used. She was fabulous, gracious, & generous. Another aspect of her teaching style that I really appreciated was that she would help as much or as little as a student wanted. If we had done this craft earlier in the week, we all agreed that we would have gone back again, there were so many cool designs and it was so much fun. If I could give 10 stars I would.
