Yellowhouse Gallery may no longer be located in its namesake yellow house on "the beach road" but it's new locacation still exudes talent, charm and hospitality that many have come to love about this art gallery. If you are in the Outer Banks and hoping to take a lovely piece of art home with you, make Yellowhouse your first stop. Here you will find hundreds of pieces of local art including original water colors, prints, photographs, pen and ink drawings and painted housewares. If you find a piece you like but wish it was in a different size be sure to ask Eve (Gallery Owner) about options. She is very knowledgable about all of the artists she represents and can tell you about different size options. If you are hoping to commission an artist to photograph or paint your favorite OBX landmark be sure to ask Eve about those possibilities too as many artists do do commissions. Some of the artists represented here are James Melvin and Bettye White. You'll also,find the photographic talents of Ray Matthews and Eve Turek, herself. Yellowhouse is now located on the East side of the bypass (Highway 158) across from the Outer Banks hospital. read more

Yellowhouse Gallery offers a variety of local art (original paintings, prints, cards) and photography, jewelry, pottery, giftware, home decor and OBX maps. Award-winning photographer Eve Turek and her husband Pete own the gallery and can help you find the perfect artwork for your home, office or rental property. You are sure to find a treasure in Yellowhouse.

History

Established in 1969.

Yellowhouse Gallery's beginnings date to 1969, and in 1977 the gallery moved to the bright yellow cottage that inspired its name. In the winter of 2005, Pete and Eve Turek bought the gallery from founder Jack Sandberg and his wife Sue. They expanded the gallery's local art offerings, added Eve's award-winning nature photography, and brought in local jewelery, pottery and woodwork to round out the gallery's offerings. In 2013, the property owners listed the historic property for sale, and Pete and Eve began looking for a new, permanent gallery home. Late in 2013, they purchased Unit #3 in Croatan Centre (mp 13.5, Bypass, just north of the Outer Banks Hospital). Pete and Eve look forward to sharing Yellowhouse Gallery & Gift's treasures with even more folks who may not have visited the Beach Road location.

Meet the Business Owner: Eve T.

Eve is a wildlife and landscape photographer. She manages the gallery's daily operation and can be found at the gallery most days (unless the light is magic or she is out photographing a special wildlife encounter!) Eve has lived on the Outer Banks since 1976 and is a writer as well as photographer.
