This store has strong, local roots and a quality experience for cards game tournaments (Magic and Pokemon presumedly), video games, comics, and a few tabletop board games in the back. A friend of mine was raving about this place and I had to take him to this place because they are not able to drive themselves to it. His wife's sister needed help with trying to fix an Atari system. We tried to buy an extension part from them and they didn't have it in stock. Too many logistics to try to get it later as I would not be around. It certainly didn't hurt that the worker at the time recognized my one friend's sister from a decade or so ago. The problem was probably that the specific TV model would not properly take any additional connections even though it had certain ports. There was so much back and forth and trying to order this and that that it was quite tiring for me. Galactic made that process a bit easier. They tested the woman's Atari. Ok my last day, my one friend had me make a request to return a device with no receipt. They refunded me even though I misunderstood from my friend what the device was and why they ended up with it to begin with. As a tourist to the area, I did not know about the separate space for the game room (there is another store between their store and their game room). But it makes sense because they have a tournament or some event occurring daily. There is also a back entrance/exit from the plaza for cars that is not obvious. As a separate online observation, Whether the comic book prices are above ebay prices not, if you don't want it, don't buy it and don't complain about that. These kind of games and comics stores and ones with super nice people are harder to come by. The convenience is worth it if things are priced more. You can see an item beforehand in a store but not online and maybe the online item's quality is not as good. I don't feel that this invisible cost and the potential additional costs to maintain the store were properly factored in by that others potentially and those things are important too. read more

This place is a scam for online orders. They don't ship their product and then ghost you. Do not place any orders with this fraudulent business. I currently have a case open with the North Carolina attorney general office against them. read more

I visited the store for the comics. They have a great selection of back issues and the best system for searching through the short boxes I have even seen. There is shelf space to place the short boxes so tall people, like myself, don't have to crouch, bend over, or sit on the floor to thumb through the comics. The place has collectables, games, cards books, and many more things. The owner was friendly, generous, and knowledgeable. A serendipitous find for an old comic guy while on vacation!!! read more

The employees that helped us were so friendly. The beach house we rented had an xbox360 but didn't have the power chord to get it to work. We went in looked for the chord and accidentally bought the wrong one. Oops. So when we went back to exchange they were super nice and understanding about it. Sad news, the new one didn't work either. Going back for the third day in a row now defeated we just exchanged for a game. The owner just let us exchange for a game this time. We wanted to play the "Ultimate Werewolf" card game and this store had it in stock. They have a lot of other tabletop games, card games, and puzzles too. The woman working was very friendly and helped us find exactly what we wanted. I love video games and was tempted to dig into their retro video games, but I was trying to stay focused on what I had come to purchase. Maybe next time. Nice game and comic shop! Good selection of board games in the back; Lots of old video game systems and cartridges; 3D printers; Magic & Pokémon cards; Dice sets; antique action figures; Comics; D&D books; Warhammer minis; and of course the friendly & boisterous geek working behind the counter. :) They had a board for regular game nights scheduled, and a large play space 2 doors down from the main shop (with the Beef Jerky store in between - how perfect!) The only thing we didn't see (and were there for) were individual dice for sale. read more

This was a great game store!! Great selection- they had new and old games. I bought some Pokémon cards and got a really good deal. 10$ off a 50 dollar Pokémon box- that's a really good deal!!! The person who checked me out was really nice and very cooperative. I would make this my first choice for buying retro games or new (used) games! read more

Awesome comic and game shop. Incredible selection of used games and older comics (the latter is becoming increasingly rare nowadays so I appreciate that they make an effort to restock with bronze and some silver age comics). Update: as of 11/11/2021 they have moved. Still in the same plaza just a couple doors down for their comics and games and the old location is now a game room for tournaments etc... wow it looks amazing in there! During my visit to NC, I was seeking a table top game to purchase, so I called this game location and Dudley happily held the game for me behind the counter. Upon arrival, we were joyfully greeted and Dudley was very knowledgeable about all the table top & card games in the shop. He was so kind and in addition to the game we entered the shop for, he gave us his personal contact to support us in deck building techniques for MTG cards, identifying the value of our Pokémon cards, and he invited us to DND events in the shop. As someone from out of town, I was not expecting such a warm welcome. To top it off, Dudley literally let us borrow his personal copy of Dominion (we've never played and he swore we'd love it) to test out while on our vacation and trusted us to bring it back before returning home. I'm on vacation and I stopped here to see what they had. It's a nice store that has games, comics, table top games, trading cards, and Funko Pops. The games they had were older games from Playstation 2, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS, GBA, etc. the selection was pretty good for a store their size. They also had newer games as well. I needed up buying dice. The person I spoke with was very friendly and we had a great conversation about D&D. I would definitely go back and buy something from them again. read more

Don't go here looking to dig for comics and find a good deal. Dug for about an hour, only for the shop owner to look at Key Collector to price the comics at the register. Told them to keep them. There is nothing worse than doing the job for the owners. If you want to dig and pay higher than eBay prices, this is your place. Don't waste your time in this tourist trap. read more

This place is great! We stopped by yesterday for the first time while on vacation. The staff were all friendly and the store very organized. I was particularly pleased to see all the retro games and well packed. I was able to find some gem comics and all were boarded and bagged. this is one of the best collectible shops i have been to. they literally have something for everyone. comics, consoles, d&d, pokémon, and even more. they have a really good selection of comics. i also really appreciate the fact that they had fair prices as well. i hate going to stores like this and overpaying. the comics i bought were around the same price i could buy them online or even cheaper. i didn't get to look through everything so i definitely want to go back to see what else is there. the employee that helped me was super nice and didn't try to get me to buy anything (which can be annoying). definitely check out this place if you are in the obx because as i said before they have something for everyone. read more
