I had no clue about this place, I do now ,thanks sales clerk at bloomingdales.This place is a little hidden gem , pricey but not as pricey as the tie I purchase for a birthday gift for a dear friend(damn could of went to kmart) .Started with garlic Aoli fries very good not salty I ordered the Morrocan style burgers with fries again(damn I gotta lose weight) yummy, juicy and well done.The spices in the burger had a nice kick to it .I had my usually diet coke ,plus a milkshake which was nice. After an exhausting and frustrating shopping day as I looked for a bday outfit... I was starving since I had not eaten since breakfast. I had a late lunch at Flip with the bestie who was in town from West New York. There aren't many restaurants in the area and we wanted a place where we could grab a bite before she had to head out. We decided to go to Flip since it is conveniently located inside of Bloomingdales. I was disappointed with the fact that I did not find my outfit and was hoping for some good grub to heal my broken heart. We got mini bottles of Zardetto Prosecco which were priced at 11 dollars, I found this a great deal since each bottle had two glasses worth of bubbly. Our food took a little longer than expected since there weren't many patrons in the restaurant, and our wonderful waitress Lauren who was sweet to us from the start came with her manager to let us know there was a miscommunication about our order, not only did they apologize for the delay but they also comped us another Zardetto Prosecco:) When the food came the tuna was cooked perfectly and did not have the fishy taste which I was very happy about. The skinny fries are crispy just like I love them with the right amount of salt on them. Several burger options, breads and a multitutde of interesting homemade toppings and sauces to choose from; we tried the refined (wagyu) and the brisket with the waffle fries. Flip was delicious, and I'm not just saying that because I grew up in midtown and I'm partial to eating in Bloomingdales. I had their lamb blend middle-eastern style burger. They have a huge menu, with every type of meat, cheese, topping, fix-in, or bun anyone has every eaten with a burger ever. If that's what youre looking for, it seems to be their specialty. So I've been hearing a lot about this dude Pat LaFrieda who has reinvented the hamburger with all these crazy blends of dry aged beef and whatever. I know that he's the supplier for Shake Shack, but I think they still remain a fairly everyman type of joint (and god knows everyman is constantly on line there, which is why I only get custard from the B line). Flip, on the other hand, is decidedly upper crust, as far as burgers go, which isn't that surprising considering it's housed in Bloomingdale's. That might also explain the prices, which, in true Bloomie's fashion, are through the roof. That being said, fancy ingredients and all, (I got the short rib "hearty" blend with cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato and garlic aioli on a caramelized onion sage brioche bun), the end result was pretty straightforward: juicy, meaty, burger goodness. Tack on an order of skinny fries and it was just the MOST satisfying lunch (although I do sometimes feel that Boyfriend's biggest flaw is his irrational hatred of sweet potato fries). I also tried a bite of Boyfriend's burger, which was basically the same as mine, only with the Waygu blend and jalapeno cheddar. While he seemed equally pleased with it, I found the smokey spicy jalapeno flavor to be a little overwhelming and by far the most prominent of all the many ingredients, and I wasn't able to discern a difference between our two different patties. Lunch for two was very expensive, with two burgers, fries and a coke coming out to $52.50 after tax and tip, and we could have very easily spent more. However, it was all definitely good enough for Flip to warrant the occasional splurge, as I really am having a hard time coming up with any non-price-related criticisms. The only thing I can really say is that the sheer amount of options is a bit fussy, and could probably do with some scaling back. Even at a fancy joint like Flip, the burger should retain some degree of simplicity, and it would be really easy to order something really outlandish and probably not so good. If I found something as simple as the jalapeno cheddar distracting, I don't want to think about what would happen if you went all out with a crazy combo of toppings. For example, I don't tend to associate Thai peanut sauce with burgers, and I feel that is as it should be. I did like the garlic aioli, but I only added a little to the burger, and saved most of it for a fry dipping sauce, a task for which it was well suited. Unfortunately, the taste of garlic lingered on the palate rather pungently and unpleasantly, and Flip could DEFINITELY do with a bowl of dinner mints on the way out. Other than that, our super androgynous waitress was very helpful and attentive (probably because there were so few customers in for lunch yesterday), the lettuce and tomato were amazingly beautiful and fresh tasting, the fries were perfectly crisply skinny, Pat LaFrieda's much vaunted patty had me unabashedly licking my dripping fingers, and the onion encrusted bun was a fun way to add on the burger's onion component. And aside from the (perfectly cooked) bacon costing $2 for two little slices, Flip doesn't even seem like a rip off, which clearly speaks to the high quality of the ingredients, deliciousness of the final product, and overall pleasantness of the dining experience. read more

I can tell you that if you come into Flip, you will not be disappointed by the quality and taste of the burger you are getting. They cooked the meat exactly as I requested (the medium rare came out with just the right amount of pink) and you could taste the quality of the bread, beef and bacon (not the best I've ever had of each but certainly up there). If I looked at this place strictly from a food standpoint I would give it a fourth star (5 being reserved for the truly moth-watering burger and bun variety) but the price takes a little bite out of the overall rating. Even being in Manhattan in a Bloomingdale's doesn't justify 25 bucks for a bacon cheeseburger. I would say try it out if you're given the opportunity but I can find a lot better ways to dine with 25 bucks and you probably can too read more

Got word from Wined & Dined last week (www.winedanddined.com) that there was an advertisement in the NY Post which has you text something to a number and you'll get a free burger (through 5/15 and while supplies last). I'd never heard of Flip before, but did notice that they use a Pat LaFrieda blend. Located in Bloomingdale's, I was in the 'hood and decided to pop in for the free lunch. It was a sleek looking setup in a nook on the lower level. A nice spot for the solo diner to grab a bite as they had a TV at the bar to keep you occupied. Service was great and my bartender actually suggested getting one of the Signature Burgers as it comes with fries, whereas if you decide to make your own you would have to pay for the fries. I was immediately drawn to the Benedict Burger, but didn't notice any hollandaise sauce listed, so I opted for the suggested FL!P burger*. Grilled to your liking and topped with melted American cheese and caramelized onions. The beef patty was plenty thick and I liked that the whole thing wasn't some towering monstrosity loaded up with toppings. Perfect for a work week lunch when you have to go back to the office and don't want a sticky keyboard. And I thought the burger was great. The beef patty may have been a little drier than some, likely due to a more lean beef blend (my own assumption). But the caramelized onions and melted American cheese were in perfect harmony. The dish also came with a heaping pile of fries. After having the burger, I could barely even make a dent in the fries. I don't know if it was high teens $$ good, but still very tasty. The rest of the made-to-order menu looked pretty good too. Pick your type of beef, your toppings, your sauces, etc. They also have a full bar and I noticed they carried JW Blue Label. I was a bit taken aback, but then remembered that I was in Bloomingdale's. I couldn't help but inquire with the bartender as to how much a glass was and he replied that it cost $25. My jaw dropped. Some of you may think that's a lot, but for those who like their scotch, you know this is ridiculously cheap in comparison to other bars where it can run you upwards of $40 (obviously doesn't compare to buying your own bottle though). I couldn't muster up the courage to have my first ever glass of JW Blue Label on this particular afternoon though. I would definitely pop in again if I was in the 'hood, and perhaps next time I'll man up and have that glass of scotch. P.S. If you do get the free burger, make sure to tip your server as though it weren't free, they deserve it. *The person next to me ordered the Benedict Burger and I have this weird thing about trying not to order the same thing as my dining companions; even though this was a complete stranger. read more

I can't speak for the burgers, but I did get a great chopped salad to go while killing time waiting for the Lux Liner. Being all chopped up made it very easy to eat on the bus ride. Big chunks of grilled chicken and a great balsamic vinaigrette made this a salad I would order again. read more

came here for lunch with my mom and sister on a weekday, it was pretty quiet but still a few tourists eating. the fries were the stand out of the meal, there were so many options! we picked the flipster frieds, which were thick cut frieds drenched in garlic sauce, my mom is a huge fan of fries and she pretty much polished off the whole ginmormous bowl by herself. we also created our own burger with the kobe beef and my sister got the turkey burger. i didnt get to try the turkey burger, but supposedly it was not very good...their soup of the day was a roasted red pepper soup, which was creamy and definately tasted like roasted red pepper, and not much else. the good thing about this place is if you create your own burger, you can get it exactly as you like since they give you so many different bread/meat/topping options. the bill came out to 54 dollars with tax and tip...pretty price for burgers and fries but typical of a meal in that area. read more

Super expensive, many choices burger place in Bloomies. Hard to find. Just had shake shack for reference so had the short rib burger on brioche lettuce tomato. No cheese. No fries. Just burger in all it's glory. Well it cost twice as much. The patty was cooked mid rare as ordered but clearly leaned on, judging by lack of juice and compact texture. Meat was not well seasoned bun had burn marks from warming and was certainly at least one day old. Lettuce was fine tomato was pretty good. Service was quite nice from both bar and friendly host. Third dinner here and loved it every time. I've been to all the burger joints in the city and I'm still surprised that this place is great. Hearty short rib blend with Garlic Aioli, Caramelized Onions and Jack. It rocked. The Chubby Fries are crispy and delish. Went here for a quick bite after work and the food was terrible! I had the tuna medallion on a whole wheat bun with Mango salsa. The tuna was dry and had no flavor at all, the server told me they don't season their meat because of so many sauce options...well the mango "salsa" which was just chopped mango and tomato did absolutely nothing for the sandwich. Wow, what a surprisingly great place inside a department store. My table of ten ordered every item available on the menu, all of them pretty successful. Some things that must be ordered include the chicken tenders, the tex mex fries and the Mac and cheese. The burger that I ordered was delicious, mainly because you create any burger you desire. The food was solidly mediocre, for a $15 burger one expects something better than McDonald's quality in terms of flavor. I understand that this is in Bloomingdales but I'm sure affluent people and tourists have taste buds too. Ambience feels bland & uninspiring. Extensive if a bit overwhelming menu which would be better if staff could give suggestions - I asked a few questions and the waitress couldn't give any suggestions. This turned out to be an unexpectedly good find. Except for getting the Bloomie confusion of not knowing where I was and how to get to where I wanted to be, no complaints. Nice menu selections. I ended up going with the Sweet and Shroomy Burger which was both - it really was excellent, as were the fries. The mac and cheese was good but I wasn't overwhelmed. Service was outstanding. This place is very Mid-Town. I should leave that there. I stop by Bloomies often due to the occasional sale on wearable fashion. This particular day I stopped by to get my watch band replaced. I didn't even know there was a little eatery there. So being an adventurous Yelper, I said "Why not!" Okay so its a burger joint right. I go traditional and balls to the wall. The best on the menu the "Benedict Burger" for a whopping $24. The Benedict is a patty, egg, and bacon. As it turns out, that is a grease truck favorite of mine. This one was served on rye rather than a bun, other than that I've experienced more flavor eating a rice cake. It was tasty enough, but really subdued. That is pretty surprising. I've fixed this at home, and the flavor combination has always had my SuperEgo cursing my Id out. It could be that the laid back nature of the burger is inspired to be guilt free, which could be a draw for some who feel guilt over such things. Like I said, Mid-Town. I've always been fond of this place for it's convenient location inside Bloomingdale's and for its very creative burger and drinks menu. The service is fast and always very friendly. So ordinarily I would give this three stars, but today, for the first time ever, I had substandard beef in the burger. Very gristly and with one hard bone piece that could have broken a tooth. I am a frequent Bloomingdales shoppers and have passed this joint a hundred times - very reluctant to give it a try. You know how hard it is to find a good burger! All I can say is I wish I tried Flip a lot sooner! My burger was delicious - I asked for rare-med rare and that's exactly what I got. The size of the burger was perfect, the bun was awesome, 2 slices of cheese not to mention the 22 ounce beers on tap. What more could you ask for. I wish the skinny fries were a bit bigger.
