Today I experienced my first of many to come Flavour Bistro "foodgasms" and I'd like to tell you a little bit about it. When we walked in we were immediately greeted by friendly staff and the decor accompanied by the music was absolutely delightful. We asked our hostess and server for their recommendations because what better than the staff faves, right? For drinks we ordered an Old Fashioned and a Pomegranate Sparkling. Both of which were amazing! The Pomegranate Sparkling and all of the ingredients used here in the restaurant actually, come from local farms and are prepared in the most unique and palate satisfying manner. For our starter we chose the Tempura Mushrooms with sweet soy sauce. The display was beautiful and the mushrooms were meaty, just the right amount of tempura and a large portion. For our main dishes we ordered the Wild Boar Ribs and the Duroc Crispy Pork Belly. Holy crap! The rib meat falls cleanly off of the bone, the mash is mixed with a truffle whip and is amazing and the sauce is the right amount of flavor from every which way you look at it. The pork belly was an enormous piece of meat that was crispy and carmelized and served with delicious veggies. Both are amazing, and the wild boar ribs are the chef's favorite so you know it has to be good! We topped this stomach ecstasy off with the Molten Lava Chocolate Cake and the Zongo. So let's start with the Molten Lava Chocolate Cake. They pour rum over the top and light it on fire! Points for coolness, points for a beautiful display and just wait until you taste it! Your mouth has never known such pleasure! Until you encounter The Zongo that is. My actual goodness, imagine an elephant ear as the tortilla to a burrito filled with cheesecake and bananas and accompanied with vanilla ice cream topped with caramel sauce. I'd like to say that I can choose my favorite dishes and desserts but it's all just so damn good, I can't decide. The important take away from this post is: amazing food, amazing ambiance, beautiful decor, THE BEST STAFF and that Chef Langan is a wizard in the kitchen! Where to begin, where to begin! Mad kudos to Sean and his crew first of all. An amazing experience from start to finish. We had a reservation for my bday and we were promptly greeted and welcomed in such a friendly, earnest way. Great way to start. We were seated at a table with a view of the valley and the kitchen too. Our waitress, whos name escapes me, was funny, smart, and always around if we needed her. The ambiance is fun too! Very calm lighting, with some of the greatest music I've ever heard in a restaurant. From the Beatles to Sinatra, it was like they had a dj setting the mood for the courses! Our meal started with their amazing truffle popcorn! Its so good. The cocktail menu is super fun and priced accordingly. My wife was enjoying a grapefruit, vodka cocktail and I lustfully sipped away at the best bourbon drink I've ever had. I think they called in Black Magic, but I can't remember. It was bourbon, a balsamic reduction, rosemary simple syrup, and then they smoke it...yes, the SMOKE THE COCKTAIL in cherry wood and present it in such a beautiful way. WOW. We enjoyed a few appetizers and all was good. For dinner, we shared a seafood pasta that my wife couldn't get enough of. Great flavor, and lots of seafood through out. I went with their Duroc Pork Tenderloin with white beans. Again, spectacular. At this point, Chef Sean got creative and presented me with a mousse dessert for my birthday that was fantastic. The mousse was light, but with bold flavors! Overall, I can't get enough of Flavour Bistro and I dream of the next visit. Do yourself a HUGE favor and go to Duvall's best kept secret! read more

Amazing quality food and service. Really loved this place for it's ambience, with a cool piano player and decor, quality of food and service. On top of that price as very reasonable for what we ordered Went with out two kids (10 and 7) and got calamari, alligator, scallops, clams, python balls and more. We had a reservation, they took a walk in before us and first gave them a booth by the window. We were seated in the bar next to the Server/Piano area. The Server area was very busy and the music was right next to our table so we couldn't even talk to each other because we couldn't hear. The food - My husband had the lamb and it wasn't great. I'm picky about restaurants. What passes for fine dining in Seattle is normally a sports bar atmosphere, a few nods to cuisine and a lot of assembly line food. Flavour Bistro breaks that norm with a quiet atmosphere and a professionally orchestrated ode to locavore food sourcing from the fertile Snoqualmie Valley. It felt personal. It was really good food. The mushroom app was really different, not overcooked and a really clean, clear mushroom spectrum. The salads we had were fresh and inventive with thought out flavors and presentation. That was the first time in a while where the food made me stop, taste and think. My partner had the curried clams and I had the duck. Each were fantastic. The presentation of the clams was magazine worthy, though my rum flamed duck was a little more fancy than needed but just delicious. My only nit is for a somewhat improved wine list. I admit, I'm picky. I think these are the folks who migrated from the old locale near the Fall City Garden and Gun store. They really get what it means to be local, personal and delicious. I've lived in the Duvall area for 20 years. I've been to Flavour Bistro several times since it opened - rarely at my own suggestion. If it's not a problem with the service it's a problem with the food. Often times it's both. I'm a pretty easy going guy so when somebody suggests going there I'll gently try and talk them out of it but will go if I have to. Tonight was the last straw. More on that later. Here are three experiences at brunch, happy hour, and dinner that are representative of this place. Ask any local who's been there more than once and they'll have similar stories. BRUNCH - limited menu. Coffee cups were filthy with dry, spilled coffee. Asked the server (when we could get their attention in the empty restaurant) for clean cups. "Oh. We keep the cups under the coffee maker. They get drips on them." First plate for our party came out. Next two plates didn't come out for 7 minutes. All were cold. HAPPY HOUR - waited ten minutes for first beverage to arrive. Server never came back after the first round - was busy in the deserted dining room. The evening went downhill from there. DINNER - (tonight) ordered duck. Overcooked and rubbery. Friend ordered scallops - three. Yes. There were three scallops on her plate. Crime brûlée the consistency of soup. Speaking of threes - I ordered three sidecars and was charged $55. Crikey! I don't pay that when I go the Met in Seattle! read more

Woke up the other morning and saw an add for their brunch on Facebook, decided to give it a try. I would give this place five stars for taste, service and ambience, the big downfall was portion size I ordered the eggs, Benedict, cleaned my plate, and left hungry and I'm not that big of a guy, my wife who is tiny, cleaned her plate, I think for the first time ever. The food is delicious but the portion size is just ridiculously small, even the potatoes, how much does a potato cost? Even the catchup they brought out was probably about two table teaspoons at best. I'm at a loss, is fancy food supposed to be small or something? When the food showed up at the table, I almost let out a chuckle lol took about three minutes to eat. read more

We went when we first moved to Duvall and had a gift card. Honestly, the food was well below average that night and the prices are very high. I really want this to be a good restaurant, but we were severely underwhelmed. Given all the great reviews, maybe we just hit on a night where the wrong cook was working. Wonderful spot! Our anniversary plans fell through, and I remembered the bistro had opened. It did not disappoint, instead it was more fantastic than we hoped. First off everyone who works there is friendly. Fantastic people, they give a great run down of the "fresh menu", and so much more. Our server Jojo was EXCELLENT! He always made sure we had what we needed, made great menu suggestions, and was just all around pleasant. The manager Sam was great too, checking on us to make sure everything was great. Everyone congratulated us on our anniversary, even the Chef, and the cheesecake they brought us was so good. For dinner my hubby had the swordfish which he said was really good, and the local butter on it was delicious. I had the blackened bison ribeye-very good and a large portion. The restaurant is decorated nicely, a very pleasant atmosphere. They had some live music, I admit not usually my thing, but they were great, and not too loud, so you could still have a conversation. My husbands cocktail, a flavored old fashioned, tasted good, but just smell it, heaven with that orange zest. If you haven't been here yet, go. Not only will you support a great local business, but you'll enjoy a wonderful meal. We will be back for sure. read more

This is definitely a hidden gem in the heart of Duvall. We came here for our wedding anniversary dinner and we were glad we did. Our server was amazing and we sat outside to watch a gorgeous sunset. I was a little loud because I was watching the Seahawks preseason game against the Chargers on my phone and everyone was laughing how rowdy I was and the chef wanted us to update him with the score. This is definitely a place we will come back to over and over again as they made us feel really welcome. I had the pork belly and my husband tried the kangaroo for starters and he had the wild boar ribs. Everything was amazing!!! Five stars all the way!!! read more

Fermented black garlic, onion jam, truffle, perfectly seared scallops were just Some of my favorites on the 3 for $30 menu. Ordered a nice bottle of wine and the table side banana foster for dessert. What a wonderful surprise! The veal rib chop is seriously delicious and a relative bargain compared to what it would cost elsewhere in the area. Appetizers have all been a little weak - especially the overpriced "roasted beet salad" that turned out to be five little pickled purple beets arranged in a row - but the four entrees I've tried were all highly worthwhile and reasonably priced. What can you add to make it a superlative. We went for our anniversary since my wife wanted to try the kangaroo. Marinated with chinese 5 spices and served with wasabi, yumm. On the weekly menu we also had the octopus and olives appetizer and I had the crispy pork belly. Melt in your mouth delicious with an amazing white rice. Really, really good food with some interesting menu choices - ground kangaroo gyoza, bison ribs, you get the idea. Our server, Sarah, was attentive without being obtrusive, friendly and knowledgeable, and her recommendations were spot on. We enjoyed every dish, but especially worth mentioning: artichoke and Dungeness crab dip served with slightly sweet fried bread, Chicken Nachata with a lovely cranberry-infused Marsala sauce, and the best tiramisu I've ever had. read more

We ordered take out from Flavors Friday night through the phone, not online. Took many calls to get through but finally got someone to take our order. The food was so delicious and very reasonable. Unfortunately, they were slammed and pick up took a lot longer!!! But the chef apologized profusely, poured wine while we waited. Honestly we were happy to see a restaurant so busy!!! Wow! I've been looking forward to trying Flavour Bistro forever and it did not disappoint. The food, the ambience, and the service are all 10/10. I love that the menu has such an exciting range from classically delicious dishes to adventurous flights of fancy. Our party of four got such a variety of courses; lobster bisque, Caesar salad (with anchovies - so authentic!), Brussel sprouts in brown butter, chicken, steak, Impossible Wellington, and lobster pappardelle. Every one of those drastically different dishes was amazing! We topped it off with Spanish coffees and desserts, which was entertaining on top of delicious, since all of it was flambé. Our waitress was excellent and gave us above and beyond service, making sure everything was perfect. It was my fiancé's birthday and I'm really glad we came here to celebrate, it was truly special. read more

Last night we celebrated my husband's birthday at the Flavour Bistro. We decided to do the Chef's Tasting and it was fabulous. We've always had exceptional food each time we've dined at Flavour Bistro, but last night was over the top. Our family members were astounded by the great food that was served. We had so much fun with the Chef and the different dishes he made for us. I believe we had 8 courses and couldn't have been more satisfied. The staff was wonderful and attentive. It was just an all around great experience. We are very lucky to have a restaurant in Duvall with such a high caliber of excellence. Very disappointed in this place. My husband and I decided to give it a try on Valentine's Day. We took the only reservation available at 8pm. We go in, and they inform us that there was a set menu package for Valentine's Day that we couldn't deviate from, and it was $100 per person for a 5 course meal. So going in before we even order, we already were spending $200. There was no information regarding the Valentine's Day package anywhere on the website, as I had checked it out hours before to see the menu. When I told the waitress we didn't know it was a fixed menu she proceeded to say "oh don't worry, it'll come out cheaper this way than if you would order everything individually". I said it's 8 pm, there was no way we would've ordered a 5 course meal so late. Anyways, she takes our order. My husband and I rarely get date nights so we were really looking forward to a great meal. We waited... and waited and finally got our first course. Then we waited for a long time for the second and then third and so on. We couldn't believe how long it was taking to get our food. The waitress didn't say anything about it until the 5th course, saying they were short staffed. She came to us THREE times saying they were out of multiple items we ordered, including the steak my husband got. I mean, how do you run out of three different things on a FIXED menu?! We finally got our 4th course. There was a couple that came after us nearby and they got their 4th course as well. We heard their waitress saying "and this is the very last steak". What?! They came after us and ordered after us, but got my husband's steak. All 5 courses were lackluster and left us searching for flavor. Hours later at the end of the meal, the waitress asked us how it was and we voiced our disappointments respectfully. From the surprise at the fixed menu, to the blah meal, to the steak situation, the long wait... she brought us the check and we paid full price (and some) for a very disappointing meal. Good customer service would have been taking off some items from the check. She even charged us for a second glass of what was supposed to be "complimentary apple cider". We love supporting smaller local businesses but next time we'll stick to a more well known restaurant. read more

We spend a lot of our time traveling and working around the world - so we finally got a chance to try out Sean's new digs. We were previously fans of his Bistro in Fall City. The move up the highway to the new locale definitely upped the game. FC Bistro was mostly hit, sometimes miss, and topped out as a 4-star place with occasional flashes of better. Flavour brings it all together. We had a large group (8) and not one person considered their meal anything other than excellent. Fantastic prep, technique and delivery. Whether unique tastes, or perfectly executed traditional flavors everything was, well Flavour-ful :-) Service was great, prices were in line with offerings, wine list solid (which was true over in Fall City as well). Duvall is a bit out of our way when we're in the Puget Sound area - but we'll definitely make the trek out there for this place when we can. High Fives all around. Well done. read more

I cannot recommend this place enough. It's easily the best restaurant in the Duvall/Monroe/Redmond area. I'll say up front that Flavor Bistro is a bit spendy, but the taste quality of the food is well worth the price. It has four distinct parts to its menu that I'd call out: 1) The seasonal (weekly) menu is so, so good. The bacon wrapped elk medalions they have occasionally is easily the best main dish I've had almost anywhere (even high end steak houses like John Howie can't compare to that dish). I just wish they had some of these items more regularly and not on the weekly menu. 2) The "normal" items on the menu are all very good. To set expectations, what they do very well here is the sauce and flavor of every dish plus high quality meat. For example, if you are ordering steak here you shouldn't expect a "Steakhouse" experience with a seasoned steak served plain, instead the NY strip comes with a really flavorful asian-style reduction that's meant to be enjoyed with it. If you want a really high-end steak, go to a steakhouse instead...the point of this place is that the dishes here have a lot interesting flavor combinations that all just work. While I have never ordered anything from the main menu I didn't love here, the Loster Leek Pappardelle and the Grilled Ceaser Salad (appetizer) really stand out as the best. 3) Their deserts are very good. The Zongo in particular is incredible and seems to be unique to this place. It's a deep fried...tortilla shell? (it's like an elephant ear) stuffed with cream cheese and served with ice cream and caramel. 4) They also offer "exotic" meats to try here like python spring rolls or BBQ kangaroo. I've tried a few of these and they were interesting, but I mostly avoid them. To be clear, everything we've tried has actually been pretty good, but honestly the rest of the menu is so fantastic that it's hard to recommend these exotic items. I'd much rather have something from their excellent weekly/seasonal menu or regular menu instead, but the exotic items are solidly fun to try for the experience if you are into that kind of thing. read more
