I like all kinds of pizza. I like the crispy, thin-crust summer creations at Al Forno's, the blackened, coal-fired pizza at Providence Coal Fired Pizza, and the Tub-o-Fat, thick-crust pies at Unos and even Pizza Hut. Flatbread Company's pizza is another minor twist on the genre. I won't say I was blown away but it is what it is: wafer-thin crusts and big on flavor. The combinations are inventive and nicely surprising. It seems you can't make too many demands on this style of pizza...the crust is so thin that you don't load these up with big chunks of stuff. So the weight limit produces a more modest and crafted creation. Craft pizza? On that note, the beer and cider here are top notch. No kidding. We tasted an excellent porter, a bright hefeweizen and a deep, satisfying cider. Comfortable, open seating, and a big, wide bar. A nice place to spend an hour or two. read more

Probably one of our favorite sit down pizza places in Providence. The service is always great and the food is excellent. We usually order the Mopsey with Chicken and get salads. One thing I suggest is that one busy nights you call ahead and have them out your name in the list as they don't take reservations and the wait can be really long. Another cool thing is that on (I believe) Monday's they give a student discount. Double check the day but it's either Monday or Tuesday! And it's significant, like 10-20% off! I have been a fan of Flatbread since I visited their sister location in Vermont. They have gluten free crusts, so it's a no-brainier for me. I love so many things about Flatbread Company. Their cocktails are yummy (try the Moscow Mule) and they serve local ciders and beers. Despite the fact that it's a chain, each restaurant sources locally. The Flatbreads themselves are excellent. Even though I've only had the GF version, which is never as good, I can tell that their flatbreads are the real deal. The specials featuring local meats and veggies are all spectacular, as are any one of the menu's classics. This particular location still seems to be working out some kinks with service, however, which is why I docked one star. The first time I visited, I asked for a gluten free flatbread, while my boyfriend ordered a regular one. They brought two regular pizzas, and I had to wait another 15 minutes (and become hangry) while they made me a version I could eat. The staff was very apologetic and accommodating, however, and I appreciate that in general they are very careful about keeping ingredients separate. That didn't stop me from returning the very next week, though, and thoroughly enjoying my second flatbread. I will certainly be returning for more! read more

There is a good chance I have never, and will never, have a better pizza in my life, than the pizza I had at Flatbread Company. I worked with pizza for six years, and I have high standards for pizza: certain chains to remain nameless produce food that should not be served in Guantanamo Bay, never mind to paying customers. Flatbread Company has earned my respect, and I eagerly await a return visit. First, let's talk about the atmosphere. This is an open kitchen and you will see the cooks toss the dough and see them tend the ovens. The lack of uniforms and the emphasis on organic ingredients and free-range meats gives this restaurant a very "west coast" feel, which fits the neighborhood perfectly. On a busy Saturday, we had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated, but service was very quick once we were at a table. The pizza options are seemingly endless, and you can make any pizza a half-and-half pizza. It doesn't matter if different sauces are being used or if you want to split two specialties. A large flatbread was a good size for two people. We probably could have taken a slice or two home but it was too delicious to resist. The flatbread we ordered was half "Mopsy's Kalua Pork Pie," which was essentially a barbecue pulled pork pizza, and half "Jimmy's Free-Range Chicken," which was essentially a chicken taco pizza. Both were absolutely delicious and I highly recommend both. Both of those pizzas were priced at $18.50 for a large (same price for half/half), which is probably a little more expensive then your local pizza joint, but 3000% more delicious. There are still a great number of pizzas I have yet to try at Flatbread Company, and I am eager to return to try them all! read more

I LOVE Flatbread Company, and was very excited to have one open on the East Side. After the opening, I went twice (in one week), once to eat in, and once to take out (stocked up for the storm). Both times the Pizza was delicious, consistent with the other Flatbread's I have been to. The organic salad (add the goat cheese) is perhaps the best salad I've ever head - really. Flatbread is a go-to place for me for fresh and delicious thin crust pizza. Unlike the other places on thayer, Flatbread makes all their pizza in a wood fire oven in front of you! The place is spacious and the ambience makes it good for both families and for dates. Tips: + They don't take reservations but they do take "call-ahead." Especially on Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights where they get pretty busy, call them ahead of time so you can get on the list and gage how long you'll have to wait. Typically on busier nights, waits can go from 30 min to 90 min. + Ask for garlic olive oil and their homemade tomato sauce on the side- perfect for dipping the crusts in! + Get a large pizza split into 2 toppings (e.g. 1/2 mopsy, 1/2 punctuated equilibrium). Will totally save you money as opposed to getting 2 smalls. Food: + Mopsy Pork Pie (5 stars). SO DELICIOUS. The tanginess of the pineapples complements the pork and the bbq sauce sooo well. Every time I come here I always get this-- definitely cannot go wrong with this dish. + Specials-- take advantage of the specials that they have on their wall! They change the specials every week based on what is locally fresh at the time. A few specials that I liked-- the sweet potato pizza, and the potato pizza. The sausage pizza left more to be desired (it was a bit sweet) and the providence community was very bland. The Eco/organic thing you had going on was nice, but I think you pushed it too hard. I never write reviews - but I had to - because Jordan, their front-of-the-house manager was so so nice. I frequent Flatbread whenever my non-grain/gluten eating boyfriend wants pizza. It's a treat - especially because it is really expensive (usually always worth it - high quality ingredients and all that). I ordered online - two regular pies and one custom - and picked-up and made the mistake of not checking it. The toppings were skimpy, they were substituted, and to be fair, they did let us know, but it was not worth the price. We were very disappointed especially because we've never had a problem - if you love flatbread pizza, Flatbread is the best. My boyfriend called with the order number and receipt, and explained, and Jordan took care of it. Because of her, we'll stay customers, and I'll be sure to call next time I order a custom pie!!! I am torn about this place. The staff is so very nice and great with my kids, and the aesthetic of the place is great with a huge open floor plan and exposed overs. However, the big salad I ordered looked and tasted like it fell out of a giant can in one solid clump, with vegetables that appeared to have come out of a Cold War bunker's rations cupboard. And the pizza was perfectly fine, but not nearly as good as places within a few blocks of this location. So, go for the atmosphere, don't order the big salad, and enjoy your middle-of-the-road but perfectly good pizza in nice company. So, yes, three stars... "A-Ok." read more

I got the Pork Pie flatbread and it was quite good. The bartender was also pretty cool and let me taste a couple things before ordering, which is good, considering the only beer on the entire tap list that I had ever seen in Texas was Dogfishhead. New Englanders are pretty big into local beer, too, it would seem. One thing was that sort of funny was that I was offered and accepted some hot sauce with my flatbread. We went on a Saturday and had to wait an hour for a table because unfortunately I am not the only one that knows this spot exists. I didn't make a reservation and showed up at the height of the dinner rush. So...my bad. I did find out that they accept "call ahead" - which pretty much means putting your name down on your way there. Do it - because spending an hour listening to a pack of college girls talk about boy problems made me want to hang myself off of their light fixtures. Restaurant is behind CVS on Thayer St, and has some parking. This spot is huge on local, fresh produce. Their beer selection follows the suit. That alone is worth a try. This also means - hipster galore. Our waiter was awesome. He was quick, attentive, gave us some solid suggestions. We ordered the Pork Pizza Pie - which is essentially pulled pork, bbq sauce, pineapples, red onions, and some goat cheese. All local, all fresh. It was AMAZING. It's amazing how good produce is when it's fresh. Makes you wonder what you eat everyday - because it does not taste like this. The other half of pizza was filled with grilled chicken, buffalo, veggies l(cauliflower, carrots strings, celery etc). We also got a salad with goat cheese, and homemade dressing. It was really, really good. My brother got a small pork pie to go, and even though it was supposed to be for someone else, he ate it in the car because it was that delicious and because he's a savage. I also tried Hurricane Amber Ale per my waiter's suggestion. Yummmmmy. The prices are very reasonable, and serving is generous. I kind of wish they had more "special" pizza and salad options - even though you can build your own. It would be awesome if they had some live band on weekends, but maybe they are shooting for quick table turnover and don't want peeps to linger. This place is a wicked gem, give it a try. read more

I decided to check this out when my family was in town and was very impressed! The open, bright and hipster-y atmosphere was extremely inviting. You could see people twirling pizza and making it right from your table! I also loved all of the charity flags on the entrance. We ordered two pizzas: The Punctuated Equilibrium (red peppers, olives, onions, and spices) and the Providence Community Flatbread (mushrooms and onions). Both of these were SO GOOD! They were sweet, organic, and delicious. What probably impressed me the most, however, was how HEALTHY the pizza was (at least for pizza). They went heavy on the veggies and light on the cheese, bread was whole wheat and it still tasted heavenly. My brother and dad were also rather impressed with how they cut the pizza. The pizzas are rectangular, so rather than cutting it traditionally down the middle, they cut it into uneven rectangular slices, so you can choose between having a large or a small piece. For delicious, healthy, and creative pizza, Flatbread Company gets 5/5 stars. read more

Three words: Mopsy's Kalua Pork. This will be the best decision of your life. Trust me. Went here for my birthday with friends, and everything was fabulous. We ordered three different kinds of pizza, but we all wished we had ordered 3 Mopsy's because everyone loved it. This pizza is definitely in the top five of best pizzas of my life, and I consider myself somewhat of a pizza connoisseur. It's free-range pork shoulder (you can also opt for free-range chicken), homemade organic bbq sauce, organic red onions, fresh pineapple, vermont butter goat cheese, mozzarella, parm, and their organic herb mix. Incredible. The other pizzas were great, too, don't get me wrong, it's just that I've been dreaming about Mopsy's ever since. OK, enough about that. Let's talk about the drinks. I had some delicious alcoholic concoction with pineapple and some kind of chili. It was perfectly pineappley with a spicy kick. I can't find it on any online menus, but I think it had donkey kick or something similar in the title. Anyway, it was pretty delicious. I can't remember what my friends ordered but everyone was happy. The thing that I love about Flatbread, aside from their drool-inducing pizzas, is that they are committed to local, organic ingredients whenever possible. They're also committed to giving back to the community. On Tuesday nights a portion of sales go to a featured charity. All around great place. I can't recommend it enough! read more

Normally when it comes to chain pizza places, I'm pretty hesitant (i.e. Pizza Hut, Uno's, Papa John's, etc.). But when it comes to Flatbread Company, this New England pizza chain definitely breaks the mold & serves up some really delicious flatbread pizzas. The menu here is pretty straight forward: salads and pizza. What I love about this place is that they use fresh and homemade toppings / ingredients. The pizzas are cooked in these giant custom wood fired ovens and what comes out is a crispy yet chewy crust topped with tasty sauce, cheese and toppings depending on your flatbread choice. My personal favorite is easily the Mopsy's Kalua Pork Pie...the ultimate savory and sweet combo pizza. The restaurant itself has a great set up / vibe. It is a converted auto garage that's quite spacious inside. There are plenty of tables and its open so you can see the giant ovens where the pizzas are being made in. On my visits here the service has also been quite friendly and attentive. Also, throw in to the mix that they have a nice bar area as well. Not only do they have some good cocktail choices, I also appreciate & enjoy the fact that they carry many different local craft beers. Instant bonus points in my book. All in all, Flatbread is a unique, creative and super delicious pizza joint that is certainly worth making a trip to. read more

We first fell in love with Flatbread years ago in North Conway, N.H, where one of the other Flatbreads is located. While I'll admit that the Providence location isn't nearly as awesome as the other, in its own right, the Thayer/Cushing St. location does stay true to the quality and taste of the Flatbread way. The salads are absolutely amazing and while I imagine most are here for the pizza, I would strongly suggest indulging in one of their farm-to-table salads aswell. This is a regular weekend spot for us, and I strongly recommend Flatbread to just about anyone (families, couples, teens, college students etc..). Best of all, it won't break the bank $$$! read more

This is garbage pizza. Every native Rhode Islander knows it. It's only popular, because it's near colleges with out of town students who are ok with mediocre pizza. The dough is that puffy, gummy, crap that just tastes like flour. The toppings are skimpy and sparse. I ordered the veggie special, the toppings list was huge, yet there was barely anything on there. No two toppings occupied the same space, no layering of flavors. The toppings themselves were tasty but on top of this cardboard, nothing would taste good. The service is great and the food is even better (the smell is also to die for!) As far as the menu goes, they do have a lot of pizzas and even salads I believe. Drink selection is really great (beer, mixed, wine). Flatbreads were alright. I would have liked more sauce and less onions though in addition to a more even crust. The middle of one of our flatbreads was so thin it was crispy... which would be ok but it didn't seem like that's what they were going for. I'd previously been to the Flatbread Company in Maui and looooooooooved the flatbreads there, especially the Kalua Pork. It was perfect flatbread - perfect crispy/chewy ratio, the bread stood up to the toppings, the toppings themselves were very flavorful. I'd also previously been to the Flatbread Company in Portsmouth, and again, I really liked it. Now, the flatbreads I had in Providence..... not so much. I had 2 different flatbreads. The Providence flatbread I ordered wasn't crispy enough so it fell apart when I tried to lift it up and the toppings were bland too. I am not a big salt person, but I was looking around for salt to add something to it. I lost interest in the flatbread I ordered after a couple slices and decided to mooch off my friend's, and again I lost interest in that one too. I thought the food I ordered was pretty disappointing, considering how flavorful it was at the other restaurants in the chain. I found myself making excuses for it: it is kind of busy....maybe they were rushing or are having an off night...not sure. Neighboring tables seemed to enjoy theirs though. As always w/ Flatbread Company, the service was really friendly and nice, the space itself is great, I love the fact they emphasize the use of local and organic products, even at the bar and the pricing is reasonable. It's just that the flatbreads I tried weren't that good. They weren't bad, they were just ok. This location has only been open for about a month so I hope they get into a rhythm in their kitchen so that their flatbread is as great as I've had it at their other restaurants. This is a review for the Yelp event at Flatbread. This was my first time here as well. I was pleasantly surprised how large this restaurant is! The small parking lot does not dictate the size in any way. It is a well lit restaurant with a delicious aroma of wood grilled pizza in the air. They had plenty of local beer on tap. I tried the Allagash white ale and loved it! I was in the mood for a Blue Moon and the bartender made a good call by suggesting the Allagash, very helpful! Several pizzas were available to sample. My favorites were the cheese and the sausage & mushroom. The sausage & mushroom stand out mainly because the mushrooms were so fresh. All the pizzas were seasoned perfectly. The crust was thin and tasty leaving no leftover crust on my plate! I prefer thin crust/flatbread pizzas. It was a nice touch to have the owner speak to us all about his love for Flatbread! Spacious dining and bar area, excellent pizza featuring imaginative flavor combos and an amazing crispy/chewy/glorious crust, plus perfectly dressed salads and a beer list that will knock your socks off. Their lot is tiny, and one of the valets tried to hustle us for $10 (which was amusing, more than anything), so take care on both counts. Our group of 10 was seated quickly, and service was great. 2 rounds of drinks + 2 large pizzas (a special and a Punctuated Equalibrium) + 3 small pizzas (one GF Punctuated, one white with steak, one Mopsy) + 3 salads (2 with mounds of carnitas that made me jealous) = $22/pp. Not bad for a fun winter night with friends! read more

I just started getting into the local/natural eating, but it's hard to have something that's not bad for you but still delicious, if that sounds like you then flatbreads is for you! They use all natural and local ingredients for there pizza. I always go for there carne special my girlfriend loves the vegetable specials, the last time I went they had this incredible flank steak pizza that I wish was on the daily menu because I would be in daily! Service at the bar each of the dozens times was outstanding, extremely attentive, I was very impressed with ALL the staffs knowledge about food allergies and gluten. They didn't need to send over a manager to walk a customer through what they can and cannot have, they knew all the answers. Extremely impressed seeing as I am a restaurant manager of 4 years now. This place is a little pricey but very good pizza. The options are also quite limited - for example, there's no equivalent to a "supreme" or "everything" pizza - which is my favorite. But their BBQ pizza is really good and they make their own sauce so I can't complain too much. I have to say though, this place falls into the classic American mid-level food trap - let's put cheese on it. They go a bit overboard, especially for the veggies pizzas (Are you compensating for my desire to eat greens?). The atmosphere is decent, if a little loud. They take reservations and can accomodate large parties. Overall, I'd say its the best pizza in this part of town, but nothing to write home about. read more

I have loved Flatbread Company for years now, having visited the North Conway location every summer when vacationing. I have never had a bad experience. When I found out one was opening in Providence, I was thrilled! It's a nice change of pace from the college-kid filled Antonio's and Nice Slice, and has great mixed drinks and local brews. I have tried every flatbread, and have never been let down. I always try to get the specials if they spark my interest, and those are always great, too. Get the salad if you have the room and never pass on dessert. The brownie sundae is to die for and sometimes they have amazing dessert specials. I see that some people complain about a small menu, but they do it well. With a focus on local, fresh ingredients, a small menu is justified. Don't try to park in the lot, the spaces are way too narrow. Take an extra five minutes to drive around and find a spot. It's worth the walk. read more

I'll start and say that the girl on the phone wasn't to happy to help with their many especially when they're trying to be so unique and writing everything in riddles even their web site is unique but kind of ridiculous. Now for the pizza I'll say the pizza is pretty tasty it was to salty but the girl said it will be with the olives but if you know it's a problem and you probably got complaints about it being salty why not fix it. Way too much crust and the crust was a little too chewy . But they have good potential. I might order that again not sure yet!!! read more

This place is pretty amazing! My family and I were in town visiting Providence, and the duty of selecting a restaurant for lunch fell to me. In a normal family, this may be a privilege, but in mine, one must choose wisely or else risk the ire of my picky grandma. Luckily, we were touring Brown University and this wasn't too far and it had good reviews, so I decided to come to Flatbread company. The place was pretty empty at the time that I went, but the servers were extremely helpful, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. My little brother has pretty severe allergies to a lot of things, but they were quite helpful in identifying menu items that he could eat. Service time was good-- we had to make a tour in 70 minutes from the time that we walked in, and they were good about bringing out the food as fast as possible. In the end, we got a salad made from local ingredients, the "Punctuated Equilibrium", the vegan flatbread, and another chicken pizza whose name escapes me. For 7 people, this ended up being plenty, and the Punctuated Equilibrium was by my favorite. Will definitely come again if I'm in the area! read more

Sometimes I think I'll order a salad to be healthy, but the only thing I *don't* like on their menu is the salad. There is only one kind, and I don't care for the dressing. Instead, I like to pizza that is topped with arugula and call it a salad. The pizzas are a little pricier than what you normally pay, but it's worth it for the high quality ingredients. The rich, local cheeses actually taste like cheese, and the sausage & pepperoni don't leave you feeling bloated from chemicals. Flatbread Co is also one of those few places where kids, families, college students, childless catladies, and older couples can coexist happily. read more
