I don't know if the gentleman running the show at lunch today was the owner, but he acted like it. Pizzeria Gusto is more than just a pizza place. The small, intimate space is filled with character, and the soft yellow light filtering through the window onto the whimsical streets of Fed Hill is always a beacon when walking home from work. The pizza is some of my favorite in Prov, with a perfectly crispy crust. I also highly recommend their chocolate chip cookies. Stopped in a few times and have to say -- one of the best values in Providence. Ingredients are above average and prices are great. The owner is really nice and is always there. The crust was right in between thick and thin, but was well cooked in my case. The service was quick, but the place is pretty small if you wanted to eat inside. There is counter seating and a few tables, but I don't think this place could seat more than 15 people at once. This seems more like a takeout spot than a dine-in location to me. With so many other fantastic pizza options in the city, it's hard to justify coming back to this place unless they do something to differentiate themselves from the pack. read more

I have only tried the calzones here. They are huge and delicious. Delivery service was very fast (but you have to order through GrubHub). As delicious as the calzones were...I'd say $12.00 is a bit excessive for a small calzone. $8.00 to start and $2.00 for each additional filing. My husband and I both got ricotta and pepperoni. Weird that you'd be charged extra for ricotta cheese because most calzones I've had include it already. So a delivery order of 2 SMALL size calzones and 2 cans of soda cost over $32.00 after the delivery charge and that did not include the tip. So...about $40.00 for 2 calzones and 2 sodas...really??? I ordered a calzone online and dropped-in to pick it up. The owner (I guess) was there and asked me if I'd had one of their calzones before, I said "no", and he asked me to tell him how I liked it. Pizza was pretty good. Not something I would get excited about. The burrito, I got a steak burrito and it was a steak and cheese wrap with shaved steak. It wasn't the flavor I think of in a burrito with rice and guacamole. I felt the burrito was confused as to what it should be. I ate it because I was hungry, but I wouldn't recommend it. The fried ravioli, I mean, it's hard to screw up. The fried ravioli was nice and wasn't heavy or greasy at all, just a nice side. Service was fairly quick, staff were polite. Greek style pizza (and other food)! There's nothing else like this in PVD. First, I cannot possibly reccomend the Aegean Pizza enthusiastically enough. It's been ages since I had Greek style pizza and that really hits the spot. I live close by so I don't know why I haven't tried this place until now but I'm glad I finally did. Delivery has been surprisingly fast each time which is a huge plus. Solid calzone for lunch today from Gusto. Ordered the philly cheese steak. The steak was well seasoned, just enough cheese, and you could taste how fresh the peppers and onions were. The only complaint I'd have is that when ordering online it's hard to get beyond having to use PayPal, the interface is confusing and there's no text option to know they received your order. In town at a friends and we ordered takeout and got an order of mozzarella sticks and a pizza. Half pepperoni half pepperoni and mushrooms. I was hesitant, because when there are a lot of toppings pizzas sometimes get soggy. Well this pizza was not soggy at all, it was baked to perfection. It was too thick or thin, it had just the right amount of crunch. So so good. I had three slices, and I had to stop because before we tried the pizza we had some mozzarella sticks. For those of you who follow my reviews, I've mentioned I am not a big cheesy cheese person, but I have to say it's the best mozzarella sticks I've tried in for ages.
