I stopped at Like No Udder today and just need to reiterate my love for Like No Udder! Karen is great and her staff are amazing. I love that they share a space with PVDeli too. I went in for a pint but then couldn't decide what I wanted. They let me try 4 flavors - two were new to me (strawberry rhubarb and peanut butter cookie dough!) all so good! I ended up getting a pint with mint Oreo and cookie dough. I didn't know you could get two flavors in one pint! I would have gotten the PB one, but it was so deliciously heavy on the PB I thought I would have to swat my dog away from it with how good it smelled! Such a great place if you are Vegan or lactose intolerant, but also just really good ice cream for anyone. I love that they have multiple different non-dairy bases for their ice creams and they are great about allergens and dietary restrictions. When they were on the corner of Williams and Ives I lived on the same block and had to stop myself from going too often. On our way back to the car after stopping into Frog and Toad we stumbled across another frozen dessert spot, and decided we'd enjoyed ice cream every day of the trip, why not one more time! We were greeted upon entry and quickly offered samples of any flavors we may be interested in. We'd seen the sign out front noting "dairy free" and "gluten free options", thinking "dairy free", also meant options, but to our surprise after sampling a few flavors, we realized everything they offered was dairy free. It wasn't entirely obvious from the flavor, it still tasted good, maybe not as creamy as ice cream, but still good. Craving something more fruity/tropical I went with the "orange creamsicle", which actually used coconut as the base. The ice cream is fine, but this place cares more about rules than humanity. I will never return after the way they treated my child. I went to Like No Udder today for the first time. I was excited to try their ice cream because I have a dairy allergy. I really appreciate restaurants that offer plant-based options. My child was with me. They asked for a spoon to eat a yogurt they had purchased at a shop across the street. No Udder has a no outside food policy, which is understandable and something I would respect if the staff had left it at that. The manager, however, made it about much more than the spoon or the policy. She shamed my child for their choice of a milk-based yogurt, saying it was against the store's "vegan and kosher religion". When my child went outside, I explained to the manager that the child was recovering from an eating disorder and had only been out of the hospital for 2 days. It took a lot of courage and strength for my child to pick a snack, ask for a spoon, and try to eat. At this point, the manager was even more dismissive and rude. If your religion involves caring so much about food rules that you think it's okay to be hurtful to people, you are completely missing the point. There are many other plant-based and vegan options in Providence. Take your time and money elsewhere. read more

Like No Udder shares a space in a strip mall (with a small parking lot), and they have both soft serve and scooped ice cream. We got one medium and one kiddie size, and between those, tried three flavors - cookies and cream, key lime, and strawberry. The ice cream was good, but you could tell that it was non-dairy ice cream, as it's not quite as rich, and you can taste that the bases aren't dairy milk. This was my first frozen non dairy treat experience. I went with my parents who are vegan, and it was their first time at Like No Udder as well. At the counter they're super friendly and encourage you to try some flavors. I ended up picking a strawberry flavor, and I found the experience pretty close to ice cream, just slightly different. That particular flavor was made with coconut milk. My parents were also pretty happy with the quality. The store is decorated in a whimsical way, and they have a few tables available. I had been meaning to try like no udder for years, but never made it over so I was very excited to see that they had moved a short walk from me on hope street! I've already been multiple times since the move and have been impressed both times. It seems like they have a rotating list of flavors and I tried a chocolate mint Oreo that was quite good. My husband and I traveled to hunt down the ice cream truck and at the time they only had serve soft serve. Every time we come to Providence we always go to Like No Udder after dinner for ice cream their ice cream flavors are absolutely amazing! They do have options that are gluten-free. They also specialize in selling jerky and most recently have been selling baked goods as well. The owner is always in the store and she's always so happy and pleasant and always has the best customer service.
