This review is a little different from others, but I think folks should know about Flatbread's corporate credo. First off, THE PIZZA AND OTHER FOOD IS PHENOMENAL! OK we got that out of the way. Here's the other thing, maybe even more important: These folks are real. Their love of their community, and in turn of 'being local' is extraordinary, A little story should highlight what I mean, Our daughter, 32 passed away suddenly from complications of a brain hemorrhage. We were trying to plan a special day of remembrance and a celebration of her life. Taking place at the local orchard she loved, Cider Hill, also in Amesbury, we called Flatbread to ask about delivering pizzas there. All they could do was say "What can we do to help?" "When, where, how many, how about two deliveries, not all at once, and oh, btw, don't worry, let us donate some of those pizzas, We care you lost your daughter...... "How can we help?" When you're thinking about going out for pizza, remember the local restaurant that helped a grieving family in their darkest hour, because they wanted to help. I think that makes them pretty extra special, and worthy of all of our business. BTW, just an aside, and since I don't think Yelp reviews orchards, Cider Hill is also on the list of places you should consider patronizing, they also knocked it out of the park helping this grieving family sharing their lovely spot, and letting us 'take over' a big area, on a busy Saturday. read more

Order a pizza online. I gave them 10 minutes longer than they said. When I got there, they were just about to start it. 40-45 minutes for a pizza is crazy and not worth it. Plenty of pizza places around that are better. read more

I am a huge fan of Flatbread Company. It is always consistent food. They use organic and local ingredients which is a plus. This location is extremely busy so if going for dinner earlier is probably better. I ended up eating at the bar. The bartenders are very friendly and helpful. The surrounding location is beautiful and there is lots to do. If possible take out may be a better option at dinner time. read more

WOW !! what a great place this is. The wife and I went in for lunch on a Sunday around noon. The bloody Marys were super tasty and the pizza was incredible and our server was super nice and checked back with us often. I love this place and will be going back soon & often. read more

Very good salads and dressings. Good flatbreads too, including some interesting combinations of toppings. Good wine. Toppings are supposed to be local, fresh, etc. Be prepared to wait to be seated. Awesome ambiance inside this place. Good for kids, they can see inside the big wood fired clay oven. Clothes smell like a combination of pizza and campfire the next day if you sit near the oven. read more

The self promoting menu should add another "free" item to the gluten, range, and other feel good ingredients - "flavor free". Then again, I do feel so much better about the treatment the chicken received before being decapitated and eviscerated. read more

For pizza, the oven makes a difference. The blazingly hot wood-fired ovens at Flatbread produce the tangy crispness that distinguishes their pizza from the run-of-the mill. Toppings are eclectic as well as strictly traditional. I've particularly enjoyed pizza topped with peppers, feta cheese, and Greek olives. The restaurant's success can lead to crowds and a long wait. This is still my favorite pizza place. They were localvors before it was cool and I just love their mission and their interesting toppings. I NEVER like vegetarian options and I love their veggie specials as well as the no longer offered chicken and black bean pizza with sour cream. It was amazing. I like the atmosphere and how the cook right in front of you. It is great for kids and they encourage them to come up and watch. They even have a stone for them to sit on which I think is so cute. They also have a gingerbread dessert that IS AMAZING. Sounds like a random thing to get so excited about but that is what makes it even better. I would stuff myself with it every time we at there even if I was full because I didn't want to miss it. Worth a special trip if you don't live close. read more

We had the pleasure of eating here the other night. My wife is allergic to Gluten so we have to be careful of what we eat. I read here on YELP that they serve a Gluten free pizza and that all of their pizzas are fresh and organic and locally grown. So we got there and it was a friday and kind of Busy so I told the hostess table for 3 and she proceeded to inform me that I should have called ahead of time as if I were privy to that information so I didn't care for that moment. We were seated within 15 minutes. Are waitress was nice and pleasent and ran through the specials of the evening as well as how they go about making pizza there. I ordered the Mopsy Kahuna Pork Pie, and My wife got plain cheese, goat cheese gluten free and our Little one got a Pepperoni.... Although the gluten free was less than desirable the other pizzas were fantastic loved the toppings they were so good my wife even pushed herself and ate 2 slices (she hadn't had any in 4 months) and even though she has Celiac the pizza really didn't seem to bother her like a normal pizza would. I highly recommend this place and we will be back. read more

Ooooh, Flatbread. We are blessed to have one of their restaurants in both towns where we have homes. Great pizza, fresh local ingredients, imaginative combinations on the specials, GREAT chopped salad, and a simple menu. And the ethos of the place is something to believe in and admire - healthy organic ingredients, nice staff, local produce in almost all cases, generosity to local charities and communities. Really neat building with a huge pizza oven. Loved the pizza-very fresh and delicious. The salad greens were fresh but I couldn't really find any dressing on it. The service was awful and that's why I gave it only 3 stars. Our server rarely came over to our table and never brough our salads. We had to request a manager to help us, which he did. This place was exactly what we were looking for! The atmosphere was laid back, the staff friendly and the food local. The menu was unique with vegetarian and vegan options. We had an Amesbury Community flatbread (fabulous), and the daily veg special (my husband and 2-year old daughters new fav). We then tried the gingerbread with pumpkin ice cream and maple whipped cream. Truly amazing. My entire family loved it and I would recommend it to anyone. I love this place! I haven't had a bad meal here. I typically will get a specially pizza off of the daily menu board or one of the specialty salads. My fiancé and I typically split a salad before our pizza comes (when we both get pizza) best dressing around! They are also very accommodating with allergies. read more

I love this place!!! We don't live in the area, but every time we are out this way, we make a point to stop!! The pizza is nice and thin, with a great tasting crust (at times I could almost compare it to fried dough). The toppings are always fresh and delicious! My favorite is Mopsy's Kahlua Pork Pie (BBQ pulled port and pineapple). I also love the sausage pizza! I had a desert there today for the first time... A raspberry cheesecake brownie!!! I am not a big desert person, but this was excellent!!! If you are in or near Amesbury (or the other locations), please stop for a pizza!!! You won't regret it! read more

The food was excellent. The ingedients were very fresh and tasty. The atmosphere was great. Small, cozy and witrh the fire from the oven, it was nice and warm. The waitress was excellent, attentive but not obtrusive. The only reason its not a 5 star is the price. The chocolate chip cookie sandwich at almost $7.00 was ridiculous. A 2 topping pizza is $17. I love this place. I have to say the options are limited as compared to the Somerville location and I think the food tastes a bit better there as well. But since its not the city I think it's great. Food is all organic. You can watch your pizza cook in their stone oven. The fire makes the place warm and cozy and an enjoyable place to eat. The dinning area is a little small so if you are in the middle it is a bit cramped but the booths are great. Its def a fun place. read more

This is a great restaurant to bring the kids! In fact that is one of my only complaints about Flatbreads is that it tends to get a bit boisterous in there & its difficult to carry on conversation. Went here with my boyfriend MANY times! It was a favorite place of ours especially in the colder months when you can sit directly in front of the stove. The style is eclectic but cozy. I love their heart pizza and their garlic oil dipping sauce. They have a hard Apple Cider that is to die for when paired with the pizza. read more

I really wanted to like this place--after all, it's a spin off from Vermont's American Flatbread, which I enjoy (and is where I live). But this was not even close to the same in terms of experience or food. Everything just felt off--from the bartender ignoring us for about 10 minutes to the 20 minute wait just to be told there was an hour and a half wait for a table (it was a Saturday, yes, but there was zero efficiency here). After we finally sat down, our server never brought us salad plates after she said she was going to and then we waited an hour with no pizza arriving. When I questioned her, she instantly went to: do you want to speak to a manager, instead of solving it herself. The pizzas arrived shortly after--and one was freezing cold. Something clearly went wrong, but no one had the decency to let us know. The one plus, and unexpected at that, was the manager stopped by to see how our night had been and we told him the truth. He comped us all of the pizza--he clearly cared that things had not been okay. Would I go back here? I don't think so. The food was only so-so, they were out of three beers on tap (all of the ones we wanted as well), the service was subpar, the atmosphere was not all that inviting. I'd recommend that if folks wanted a true flatbread experience that they make the trek to Vermont for the original. read more

Love all the Flatbreads I've been to (Portsmouth, Portland, N. Conway) but this is the best. Been going there since it opened and it's now a weekly tradition. Pizza is excellent, fresh and delicious. Thinner, chewy crust is the Flatbread trademark. Salads are fresh and all ingredients organic and as local as possible. Beers are excellent (try the Tuckermans) and the service is friendly. Many of the servers have been there for a long time - testiment to the place. Highly recommended. read more

FLATBREAD IS AWESOME!!! Everyone should try thier pizza of course but you HAVE to get dessert AND some organic salad!!! This place is always crowded but once you're seated it a real treat. Love taking the kids here....not a cheap night out for pizza however
