Every time we visit Flat River Grill, it has been a fabulous experience! The food is fresh and flavorful, the drinks are cold, and the staff is friendly.The flank stake salad is one of my favorites, but last night I had the ricotta gnocchi and it was fantastic! My friend had the Cobb salad which she though was super fresh and the chicken grilled perfectly. My husband had the goat cheese and sausage pizza. One of my pet peeves is walking into an establishment and not being greeted. In this case, there were two ladies right there when we walked in, but they didn't say anything for the first five minutes. I know they saw us. Finally, one came over and sat us at a table. The food was good, the ambiance was nice, the server was good, but our first impression was not. read more

We have eaten there 3 times. (hopping it was an fluke) Of 2 we left disappointed with the food. The staff have been great, however the food is subpar. Not cooked correctly, mushy roasted Brussels, flavorless salmon and soggy bread for a Reuben. We won't be back. read more

The food at this restaurant is out of this world, so good . The manager Ian was so nice and very accommodating for our large party . If I could give less then one star I would. Have eaten here in the past and had decent experience good service and food is usually ok. Tonight has my family there and two kids hungry and had to wait for over an hour for the food to come. Waitress came to the table once and a manager came by but didn't comp the meal or anything. Very sad for a local restaurant, probably one of the worst service experiences I have had in the restaurant community. Hope the Gilmore group gets the crap together. read more

Had the fried wontons for an appetizer and they were okay. Heavy on the blue cheese. Glad I tried them but probably wouldn't get them again. I had the seared tuna salad after reading some reviews and I have to say I was disappointed. The flavors were great especially with the Thai vinaigrette but the portion size was lacking. There were only 4 little pieces of tuna. Left me wanting more food. My wife had the fettuccine and while it was good, it wasn't popping with flavor that makes you want it again. Kids meals were good but small. My 7 year old daughter had the fish and fruit and was still hungry after. Had the crem brûlée for dessert and it was good but not spectacular. Wife and kids had the brownie skillet and it was tasty. Service was friendly, nice and fast. We will try again. But as of now not a place I have to go back to. read more

The smell that greets you before you even walk in will pique your curiosity. They have infused vodkas for amazing bloody Mary's and their wood fired pizza is on point. John made my first visit very welcoming. I will certainly be back to make my way through their menu and infused drinks. Highly recommend! read more

You know, I have always enjoyed the food here and we have gone out of our way to dine here over the past few months, but after our last experience we will not be returning. As we were dining inside, a group walked in and 2 gentleman were not wearing masks. The manager greeted them loudly across the restaurant, had a conversation, and never asked them to put on a mask. The hostess then walked them through the restaurant to their seat - maskless. No matter how you feel about masks, they are required indoors and it is the restaurant's job to enforce this. Their poor waitstaff have to wear them for the whole shift, then someone like this walks in and potentially infects them. After all, masks don't protect us, they protect those around us. Very disappointed to experience this and will definitely not be returning to this establishment. read more

Had a sit down meal outside tonight. Normal busyness for a Friday. Drinks and appetizers arrived after 20-30 minutes, and entrees about an hour into service. Every entree had something wrong or missing. Staff were apologetic but still, expectations when spending around $200 are greater than they could muster tonight. We came here during the Christmas in Lowell and the place was packed. We sat at the bar rather than waiting for a table and glad we did. My hubs had a river burger with caramelized onions, blue cheese and swiss cheese and he loved it. I had the Italian hoagie which was new to the menu and it was fantastic. I don't normally get sandwiches with salami but this was good. Recommend to not come during crazy lunch time in the middle of a craft show. read more

We went here for Mother's Day because it was about halfway between Lansing where my parents live and Grand Rapids where my sister lives. It was great to try a new place and we happened upon this one by chance. Flat River Grill is owned by the same restaurant conglomerate that owns the BOB in GR. The atmosphere was great. We enjoyed watching the kitchen prepare their stuffed french toast. The food was pretty darn good too. The menu highlights prominently local and seasonal ingredients which is always a win! The service was attentive even though the place was pack for Mother's Day. While we were leaving I noticed the place has a daily happy hour with $1.99 drink specials. It might be worth the drive back out if I'm staying in Lansing. Stop by if you are looking for a unique and quality dinning option in the area for a fair price. read more

We have made the Grill our regular stop. The food is always consistently delicious with specials. The crusted walleye is the BEST and the 201 salad with sticky Chardonnay dressing is fresh and lovely. The staff are professionals and even the newbies are trained well. Service is excellent. Little bummed they were out of the homemade chili because this place would have knocked it out of the park. Ended up with the lobster bisque and it did not disappoint. We ordered the artichoke dip as well and holy moly it was great with the naan and ever better on the quesadilla if you're looking for a restaurant hack. Finally, we ordered the Thai pizza based off the description and it far exceeded expectations. Pro tip order it extra crispy! I would come here again just for the pizza but everything was great and reasonably priced. Great date spot as well. It's spring chilly here today but they had personal space heaters for every table. We arrived about mid-afternoon for a late lunch so there were fewer people than usual. We sat in the covered patio area and enjoyed the warm sun. Service was prompt and cordial. My wife ordered the Wood Grilled Chicken which has bacon, greens, sliced GS apples, pistachio-cranberry cheese spread on a toasted pretzel roll. She found it to be one of the best sandwiches she's ever had -- loved the applewood smoked bacon and the cheese spread. I had the flank steak salad with was prepared perfectly. The Seared Tuna Salad is spectacular. The tuna is to order (I like it rare), the avocado and pineapple are fresh. I requested the balsamic dressing, which made a perfect accompaniment. Delicious! We waited another 1/2 hour after being seated to have a waitperson acknowledge us. Once we ordered food, half the table got their food, the other half waited 40 minutes longer.
