I went here on New Year's Day and I was expecting it to be crowded but to my surprise it wasn't. For the price of $12.99 for lunch and $17.99 for dinner the food was good and there were many food options. I paid $17.99 because dinner price was all day on New Years on normal days lunch ends at 3.30pm excluding the weekends I believe. I especially like the first plate I put together. I was there for about 1.5 hours and you are allowed to dine for 2.5 hours. I had desert too but it's not included in the photos and even though I did like the food I did not like the desert options and what I did get was subpar. The overall ambiance is below average. The restaurant could be cleaner and better set up and decorated. The service was subpar too. I know it's a buffet so it's not too expected that they provide great service but I've experienced better service at other buffets. This isn't somewhere that is content worthy for social media if you are into that. It's a standard buffet experience mainly for family outings.

Stopped in the other day for dinner and it was really good the crabs where pretty good and the oyster wasn't bad either, most of the food I ate was really good that day. I really think it was a good move to eat there that day really good.

We just left this buffet and didn't even finish eating because there were 2 Roaches on top of the stack of plates. We told the manager and he gave us a discount which we didn't ask but it was ridiculous a 10% after we were nice enough to quietly inform them of the roaches the were on top of the plates if we would have not inform them nicely and quietly i ak sure other people would have seen the ROACHES SINCE THEY WERE ON TOP OF PLATES NEXT TO DESSERT AREA.

I stopped by at this restaurant after getting my hair done nearby. For $12.99, you can eat crabs and other seafood, Japanese hibachi and sushi, many many assortments of barbecued or grilled meat that's tender and the list goes on. I was surprised to find out how everything was fresh and none of the items were over cooked or over baked due to the steaming heater. I feel really hungry again now thinking about the restaurant. I am definitely coming back on my day off just for this. The buffet is a great value and the food great compared to what Montgomery County sides of any buffet offers.

Loved my first time here! It's a buffet with MANY options! There is truly something for everyone.... They also frequently bring out new items so you can walk around for a 2nd time and get entirely new foods. My favorite parts are the large selection of sushi and the hibachi bar where you pick all of the items you want and it's cooked right in front of you. The ice cream and plentiful desserts are a nice touch too.

If you are ever craving Chinese food and need a quick fix, I strongly recommend this buffet. Not only is the food tasty and delicious, it is also fresh. There is a nice variety of items on display: the Thai Chicken and General Tso's are so well prepared and delicious. The Hibachi fried rice is also another that I really like. The Lo Mein, Chicken on a stick are yummy. Oh the plantains looked really good as well. Another thing that I noticed was a bowl of what looked like cayenne pepper on the buffet display. It's perfect for people like me who like that extra spicy kick! I am not sure how long it is going to last but there's currently 25% off deal for all buffet take out orders. I recently paid $5.79 for my carry out and that's pretty darn good if you ask me

Staff was attentive, Food was ok but for a Buffet it was good. Only 8.00 for lunch is a good price. May return for the hibachi!

The building is large with plenty of parking. It has a medieval-vibe from the outside, although there's a plaque inside the front door saying the building was built in 2000. Once inside, it's fairly dark and continues with the old-mansion type atmosphere. There are lots of items hanging from the walls, older portrait photos, chandeliers, etc. very cool space. We were told at the front desk to go upstairs for the brunch (there is an elevator!). Once upstairs, we were greeted and sat in a corner table for two. The placement of the table was perfect, as there were a lot of families there for brunch, and I felt like we were being given an opportunity for more quiet. I noticed that the layout of the room placed tables for two and other smaller tables toward the outside. The server greeted us warmly and explained where things were and invited us to get started. The food: outstanding. The crab dip was thick from cheese and full of crab. The Maryland crab soup (didn't try the cream one) was full of crab and veggies, and the broth was flavorful. The salad was fresh, the chicken and salmon were both well prepared and delicious and the crab omelette was full from crab. There's also the traditional breads, eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausage. They all looked good, but I didn't take them seriously with all the other foods there. I went to get prime rib snd was given a huge piece freshly sliced. Outstanding. The outside was seasoned perfectly and the inside was moist and flavorful. You can get creamy horseradish, horseradish alone and au jus, which you serve yourself. The desserts included some pies (including key lime), cooked apples, brownies and there's fresh fruit at the salad bar. Service: Outstanding. Our server kept our water glasses, iced tea snd coffee filled and took our plates promptly. Bloody Mary - was $1 and I think it's a darn good Bloody Mary. Not fancy, but tasty. We came here looking for a new place to go for buffet brunch. We live over a half hour away, but do plan to come back for other occasions. It's a nice atmosphere with a very classy vibe, but good for families. Everybody seemed to be having a good time and enjoying themselves. And the service was excellent. The brunch ain't cheap (it's $46.95 per person), but there's outstanding prime rib, a real crab dip and two types of legit crab soups, along with other entrees (the salmon was so soft and flavorful - I was jealous because I can never get mine with such great texture), as well as traditional breakfast fare and a salad bar. Worth a visit. The restaurant's regular menu looks pricy, and some of the items on the regular menu are available on the buffet (prime rib, crab dip, crab soups, the chicken and the salmon).

Chicken fingers covered in deli ham smothered in gooey cheese with asparagus on top. Sounds good maybe if the chicken were prepared somewhat specially and not tough. Deli ham? You're kidding right? And the cheese; maybe it was American cheese spread or cheese whip. But the asparagus was nicely done. And it came with a twice baked potato and veggies that I would rate good. But the bad out weights the good. Preceding this was a forgettable salad of iceberg lettuce, carrots, and croutons. The best part of the meal were the rolls and butter and the water. I won't be back.

We opted to sit outside since we had our dog with us. The server was very friendly, with great service and they are very dog friendly and had water bowls outside for them. I am from Eastern NC, so I have a pretty good idea of bbq and BC staples. I decided to try the flounder rather than the bbq this time. The founder was disappointing. It was a bit on the bland side and the batter is a little confusing. I was expecting a cornmeal style batter or similar, but got something different. The fish itself had potential to be very good. The beans also left a lot to be desired, just lacked flavor and taste. The business looks like they do a lot of catering as opposed to dining (possible a lot of to go orders, too).

Side note: I'm still looking for my go-to bbq joint in town, but I think this ranks a little higher for me compared to Black Hog and Mission. Both are good with the meat... but I'm a sides girl. No sides have wowed me yet, but PIGS probably has the better of the three. *The ever controversial mac and cheese (especially at a BBQ joint) is...different and unlike any I have had before. It's good: creamy rich cheddar without all the baked on extra cheese- it's strangely light like a buttered noodle. Classics like the and potato salad were underwhelming in flavor. Appetizers: Wings - fried and sauced, fried green tomatoes, house made pickles, and fresh chips with their rub seasoning (the chips were my favorite!) - all solid starters. The wings were huge! Lunch: I ordered the 2 meat and 2 sides bbq platter- jalapeño cheddar sausage (with that nice snap), smoked chicken, coleslaw and mac and cheese. It came with their jalapeño cornbread (it didn't have a ton of flavor). I'm a sucker for cornbread usually. Listen- that bar was on point, service and ambience was excellent- and they were slammed today - down a chef- and they put out some great food. Take those sides to the next level and this place is a 5.

TLDR: tired place, tired food, tired service…read more.. Favorite Oldest Grand Daughter (FOGD) was working yesterday so missed family Thanksgiving. I took her out for lunch to help make up for the missed turkey (take that any way you want, sports fans). I gave her a choice of sushi or Indian buffet; she chose Taj Mahal. Taj has been around for many years but somehow I've missed it. I heard it has a nice buffet (a decent value for $19 at lunch). When we arrived there were very few patrons so server said we had our pick of seats. We sat at a booth near the bar, near the buffet. Seats were ratty but in better shape than other booths. We grabbed plates at the bar and went for food - which was really tired and dried out even though it was was well before lunchtime ended. Server said she would bring pans of rice, butter chicken, saag, and naan so we tried what was available. Samosas were cold inside but filling was tasty; chickpeas that came with it were really good but again, cold. Onion pakoras were great, but some chutneys would have been nice. Goat curry was tasty, dry-spiced potatoes were good and had enough heat to make them interesting, but everything else was middle-of-then-road. When the fresh dishes came out we replaced out plates and tried again. Butter chicken and saag were really, really good, rice was really crunchy (undercooked) and quickly dried out under the warming lamps, and naan was good when very fresh but quickly got crunchy. We did not go back for more and skipped the salad/dessert choices. Frederick has a bunch of really good Indian (and Pakistani and Afghani) restaurants (mmmmm, Mint Room, Tulip Grill, and Mayako) so I would not put Taj Mahal anywhere the top of my list of similar places.
