I've frequented this place several times now. I realized that I never posted a review. So I ordered the Spicy Szechuan beef, my daughter and husband ordered Sushi. The spicy beef was very oily and left a slight numbing feeling on my tongue. However, it was tasty as I ate it. The sushi is always delicious! read more

This is your typical hibachi restaurant, the chef was very good and tried to keep everyone at the table engaged. In addition to the chef, the service was also great. Everyone was very attentive and efficient. The food was delicious and they give you huge portions. We went on a Sunday night and it was pretty busy so I would recommend a reservation. Because you are at a table with other parties, they recommend you get there on time or they will have to start without you. read more

The food and prices here are top tier and always fresh. I have never had a single issue regarding to the service, meal or quality of my food. I love the lychee Martini with the lobster and filet mignon; not to mention the ambiance of the restaurant is absolutely stunning. Beats Benihana's by a long shot. read more

My sister in law lives close by and had heard good things about this spot. We went on a Saturday evening. It was pretty full. Noise level was not great, unfortunately we sat close to a family with small children that made a lot of noise... Our order was taken pretty quickly. For the most part staff seemed pleasant. Soup came out...tasteless. Salad looked fine. I think its a nice touch that they give you noodles with the meal. Fried rice was fine as well. Portion overall was good. I took most of my entree home, husband ate it as a late night snack. read more

My granddaughter has never experienced the fun of dining hibachi style. We chose Flame because it was close to home. The host was nice and quick. She seated us immediately, but it was early in the day and not crowded. The food was OK, not bad, large portions. Most importantly, my granddaughter loved it and had an awesome time. The tricks and entertainment were great. My granddaughter even caught the broccoli the chef tossed to her. We didn't have dessert, but my granddaughter had an ice cream cup to go. Overall experience was good. I would come back again when it's more livelier. read more

Updating my review to sadly say that there was plastic on my sushi. It was so upsetting to find it because I was fully chewing on it and it was gross. The server acted like it was no big deal and I didn't even finish my food bc I was put off by the experience. I guess now I need to find a new sushi spot :( read more

I decided to give this place a revisit for the sushi side. I wrote in the last review that they have two sides to dine in. The hibachi side and the side for sushi. I really enjoyed the hibachi side, I found the food and the service to be excellent. Today I wanted to try the sushi side. I ordered some popcorn shrimp, three signature rolls, and a shrimp tempura hand roll to take home. My popcorn shrimp was really good. Two of the signature rolls were fire! I mean just the best I ever had so far. The other one I wasn't happy with the taste, but I took it home and one of my daughters who also loves sushi ate it up. I'm excited for this place and I really hope they keep everything up to the high standards that I have so far experienced. This place have a huge menu of items so either side is good for family and friends. Two thumbs up for me- I totally recommend this place and Im so happy to have it in our community. read more

My daughter wanted to go to hibachi restaurant so I decided to look for something convenient in the Bronx area. I found this place on Google and I decided to give it a go. What an amazing choice I might add. I came here on Sunday evening around 6 PM I was greeted and sat immediately. I was in a party of 4, two kids two adults. They gave us time to look over the menu and pick the drinks and food of our choice. The hibachi chef was exceptional, he made our dinner great. The food was so good. I can honestly say the portions were huge and I came hungry! The drinks were really good too. I wanted more liquor inside of my drink so they gave me a complementary shot. would recommend definitely come here! read more

Aesthetically this place is fantastic. Beautiful, clean and well thought out. The staff is nice, however, they have their days. I've been coming here since they opened and overtime have noticed a difference with their food. Although it's amazing and seasoned well, I feel that overtime it just doesn't taste as good as the last. The location is amazing which is why I continuously come back, I love this place either way and hope they never close. PS: they do not like service animals. read more

I love this place! I made reservations on a Wednesday around 7 pm, the restaurant was pretty much empty, and it started getting packed after 8 pm. Our waiter Pinky was so lovely, friendly, and attentive. Even our chef (I believe his name is Joshua) was very enthusiastic, entertaining us, and the food he made was delicious. I highly recommend this place for birthdays, celebrations, first dates, and nice after-work dinner gatherings. read more

It's always a good time coming to Flames! We go to The Bronx location. Been going there since November 2022! Our most recent was a few weeks back. It's family friendly. We've only had Hibachi. Will try Sushi soon as my daughter loves! We come for birthdays, Father's Day, any sort of celebration we can think of lol. The ambience is really nice. Especially at night with the dimmed lights. The food portion is amazing. We tend to bring leftovers. I always get the steak and scallops with fried rice, noodles, vegetables. Shrimp as an extra. They serve salad or Miso soup (your choice). The alcoholic drinks are not my favorite. I'll stick to my Sake. The staff is attentive and friendly. The cooks are always a fun, interactive time. I guarantee you'll leave with a full belly and a "can't wait to come back"! read more

Beautiful restaurant but Horrible service! I came in for lunch on a hot Sunday afternoon. Only 1 other person in the restaurant and she already had her food. I had to seat myself, and waited several minutes with no one coming to offer me a menu or water. I actually got up and served myself water from the bussing station, then waited another 5 minutes before the server came. I ordered the 3 roll lunch special. An eel avocado roll, a spicy tuna roll and a spicy yellowtail roll. When it came, the 2 spicy rolls looked and tasted exactly the same. I looked around for a server, and had to call out loud for a couple minutes before anyone came. A busboy who went and got the manager. When he came, he insisted that the 2 rolls were distinct, but I was clear they were not. I've eaten sushi all over the world, and I know the difference between tuna and yellowtail, even when mixed with spicy Mayo. They just insisted the order was correct with no other discussion or any attempt to make me happy. The North Bronx doesn't have many sushi places, but this certainly does not fill the gap. read more

Made reservations for my partner and I on my birthday. I came in and let the hostess know that I had a reservation. She proceeded to sit us in the corner of the hibachi table and I asked her if we could move seats because I didn't like where we were sitting. She proceeded to give me push back and say "I have another reservation party coming in." No time frame, no expectations nothing. My problem is if I come in first before another party, had a reservation especially on my birthday. I should be able to sit where I want. Not tagged onto some other large party out of convenience. When I went to ask her on how long we would have to wait for the other party she started getting defensive and speaking over me. So I started to walk away. As I was walking away she started saying all types of "good night, have a nice night" and making comments to the bartender laughing out loud making the atmosphere very uncomfortable. Waited like 25 minutes for the chef to come out. Best part is when the chef came out he tried to make it entertaining for us and proceeded to sing "happy birthday to no one" while moving the onion train around this I actually have one video my bf recorded it and we had to correct him that it was in fact my birthday... asked the server for a refill and he proceeded to charge me for 4 cokes making it $16 extra on my bill. If there wasn't free refill I should have been let know that, not just charge the customer. It's clear that there's a HUGE lack of communication on their team. Overall would not choose this spot for a special occasion because they do not care. When a restaurant automatically applies 18% tip at least make sure that your staff is performing to that level of service. Highly disappointed, it was trying to give luxury but it's just giving money grab! Steer clear spend your birthday elsewhere read more

The food could have been a little more flavorful The atmosphere was great I just found the food a little bland Service was great

Okay so this has become my neighborhood haunt.......Manhattan Midtown upscale eating in the BX.........so imagine my surprise when they expanded during a pandemic no less. The Sushi is an epic appreciated addition....... I'm looking forward to the possible expansion of the menu which from the gate is fantastic already. I'd like to see Green Tea ice cream added. But overall what I have come to expect of this establishment has translated and transitioned over to the sushi set up. I have to pace myself because I could easily eat here every day . Hoping the quality is maintained. read more

We enjoyed taking our family there. It's Very festive and great food. We all left stuffed !

Didn't Even Take a picture of our food. I ordered Steak with scallops Hibachi Dinner and also the chicken and shrimp combination. The Gentleman who took my order was very helpful and friendly. THE FOOD!!!! The noodles were bland the rice had no flavor the chicken looked weird, I received 3scallops and 4pieces of steak! And also ordered a side order of shrimps 4 pieces. I Will not be returning to this place. For the price and the lack of food that was served, I will go somewhere else. read more

Had the opportunity to check out this spot with a friend. Traditional hibachi cooking in a modern style restaurant. The service was really good . Service with a smile, cook was upbeat and the place was clean and not crowded at the time we went. By the time our meal was over, the large restaurant started to get more patrons . This restaurant has a connecting Sushi restaurant and some parking spots outside the small shopping center. Place serves alcoholic beverages and tasty food. Will visit again. read more

Flame - Taking my girl to this great Hibachi spot - Asian Fusion Near Me - Bronx, New York

I am giving this place 2 stars because of their practice. The food was great but they lost me as a customer with their slickness! *WARNING* when you receive your bill, you will notice it has a "service fee" (which you would believe is the TIP) but it also has a "tip scale" 18% 20% 25% so now you believe "ok, so the service fee & tip are separate" so you add on a tip accordingly. Once you sign off and have paid your bill... you notice that the "service fee" was actually the GRATUITY! So, you end up TIPPING TWICE! During these tough financial times that practice is simply stealing! They might have gotten an extra $35.00 for me last night but they have lost a customer! *ASK BEFORE YOU PAY... "WHAT IS THE SERVICE FEE FOR!?" read more

Definitely a bit disappointed. I visited the original Flame location on the Upper West Side a few years ago and I got really sick. I decided to give this location a try for a quick sit down dinner ( we did not sit at the hibachi tables). The bar was pretty full when we arrived; we were seated at the tables by the bar. I expected a waiter to come take our orders, instead the guy behind the bar brung us waters and provided us menus. Though he was extremely nice it was impossible that he could provide us with great service if he had to make drinks and take orders for those seated at the bar along with make drinks for the entire restaurant (those seated at all of the hibachi tables). While he did try his best he took long to take our orders. When the food finally came out about 35min later it wasn't as hot as it should have been, both of our soups and salads never came out. Our table was never checked on by any other staff and we had a third guest join us who never received a fork to even eat. I asked for the soup and salads to go since we were already over it but those items also never came out. The restraint is pretty big and I'm sure people have a great time if they are looking for more of a hibachi themed dinner, the drinks being made at the bar seemed to be good as many were being served; sadly we didn't get a chance to have 1. The food was pretty good I think it would have definitely been better if everything actually came out hot. read more

This is 3 and 1/2 . Three just doesn't paint the picture of a great experience, which we had. Disclaimer: I have found most hibachi spots to have great quality meats however the seasoning is usually more than I prefer ... think it's the salt and the soy sauce. It is not a reflection of the establishment per say, just has been my experience at hibachi spots. Our chef was great! Great entertainment and quality lobster and filet mignon. Shrimp were fresh as well. Chef was entertaining and cooked the meat and shellfish to perfection. Just a tag salty for me. Will come again and let Chefy know to ease up on the salty hand! read more

Flame - Nice set up. All to ourselves. Now the food! - Asian Fusion Near Me - Bronx, New York

I had the lovely pleasure of dining at Flame restaurant last weekend. From the moment I walked in, I was met with a completely stunning and refreshing décor, a feel unique to NYC. There is a light-ness to the atmosphere that is really inviting and relaxing. Lighting is done very well, and a sense of spaciousness that is really unusual in most NYC restaurants. I was impressed with the separate dining areas, one large area for Hibachi and tables, and another area for regular tables. Every single food item that arrived was delicious. An incredible Yellowtail thinly sliced that melted in the mouth. A lightly fried SeaBass that defied what we know of taste buds. A baked shrimp scampi that was cooked to perfection. Noodles that are among the best I have ever had. My only problem with the food was I wish I could order everything on the menu!! I can't wait to try so much more there. And the menu has a fantastic array of selections. Really, this place knows what Crack is, in terms of Asian cuisine, and runs with it, offering a big assortment of it! The staff was equally enjoyable, all around. Pinky - 5 stars....fantastic and hospitable. Jose, wonderful server and very enjoyable to chat with. You can tell this place is managed well, from the staff to the décor, to the food. Just really really well done. And btw - thanks to the staff for the lovely birthday ice cream surprise! Nice place, cool atmosphere! Prices pretty on point! The food was ON POINT!!! Everything was FRESH and really tasty! The only down side was the guy that got us seated... He was so RUDE!! I had my eye on the location on 82nd, so when I found out that they were opening one close to me, I was HYPE! As my boyfriend and I were pulling up, we noticed how clean and fresh this place is now... if you are familiar with the area, you might remember that before, it was vacant and the parking lot was an eyesore! Thank you for bringing something new and fun to the area! Once we got inside, we were greeted and shown our table. Our chef introduced himself as John Wick, LOL. He seemed to know his crowd/environment and engaged with everyone! He did not overdue it; he was actually pretty hilarious.  For drinks, we had the rum punch bowl. The rum punch was actually not that strong; it was kind of a sleeper drink... But pair that with the sake that the chef was squirting in your mouth, and you will leave feeling GOOD! We each had the shrimp appetizers, a salad, and the filet mignon and chicken with fried rice. The food was delicious and I was super full. Oh, and the bathroom is just perfect. The entire Flame was put together nicely! Overall, I would definitely comeback. I noticed a lot of couples and people celebrating birthdays. It is such a welcoming and loving environment! I LOVED IT! read more

It was time for a nice family dinner so I chose Flame being that my mom has never experienced Hibachi. I'm so glad we came here!! Our chef is the BEST hibachi chef I've ever experienced (I've been to my share of hibachi restaurants in & out of the country). He was very interactive, super funny, energy on 100 and cooked everything the way we requested. My son started off with sesame wings as his appetizer( he raved about them) followed by the Steak & Chicken combo & I had the Steak & Shrimp combo. All of our food was piping hot and full of flavor. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the chicken wasn't dry. As my cocktail I had the Snow White Lechee (think of a Lychee Martini, perfect balance of alcohol & juice) as well as a glass of Prosecco. Our waitress was an absolute joy as well. She continually checked in with us to make sure we were ok, paying special attention to my mom which I really appreciated. I'm already planning a return for a friends bday! So glad Flame is now in The BX!!! read more
