It's always a good time coming to Flames! We go to The Bronx location. Been going there since November 2022! Our most recent was a few weeks back. It's family friendly. We've only had Hibachi. Will try Sushi soon as my daughter loves! We come for birthdays, Father's Day, any sort of celebration we can think of lol. The ambience is really nice. Especially at night with the dimmed lights. The food portion is amazing. We tend to bring leftovers. I always get the steak and scallops with fried rice, noodles, vegetables. Shrimp as an extra. They serve salad or Miso soup (your choice). The alcoholic drinks are not my favorite. I'll stick to my Sake. The staff is attentive and friendly. The cooks are always a fun, interactive time. Made reservations for my partner and I on my birthday. I came in and let the hostess know that I had a reservation. She proceeded to sit us in the corner of the hibachi table and I asked her if we could move seats because I didn't like where we were sitting. She proceeded to give me push back and say "I have another reservation party coming in." No time frame, no expectations nothing. My problem is if I come in first before another party, had a reservation especially on my birthday. I should be able to sit where I want. Not tagged onto some other large party out of convenience. When I went to ask her on how long we would have to wait for the other party she started getting defensive and speaking over me. So I started to walk away. As I was walking away she started saying all types of "good night, have a nice night" and making comments to the bartender laughing out loud making the atmosphere very uncomfortable. Waited like 25 minutes for the chef to come out. Best part is when the chef came out he tried to make it entertaining for us and proceeded to sing "happy birthday to no one" while moving the onion train around this I actually have one video my bf recorded it and we had to correct him that it was in fact my birthday... asked the server for a refill and he proceeded to charge me for 4 cokes making it $16 extra on my bill. If there wasn't free refill I should have been let know that, not just charge the customer. It's clear that there's a HUGE lack of communication on their team. Overall would not choose this spot for a special occasion because they do not care. When a restaurant automatically applies 18% tip at least make sure that your staff is performing to that level of service. I decided to give this place a revisit for the sushi side. I wrote in the last review that they have two sides to dine in. The hibachi side and the side for sushi. I really enjoyed the hibachi side, I found the food and the service to be excellent. Today I wanted to try the sushi side. I ordered some popcorn shrimp, three signature rolls, and a shrimp tempura hand roll to take home. My popcorn shrimp was really good. Two of the signature rolls were fire! I mean just the best I ever had so far. The other one I wasn't happy with the taste, but I took it home and one of my daughters who also loves sushi ate it up. I'm excited for this place and I really hope they keep everything up to the high standards that I have so far experienced. This place have a huge menu of items so either side is good for family and friends. Two thumbs up for me- I totally recommend this place and Im so happy to have it in our community. read more

I love this place! I made reservations on a Wednesday around 7 pm, the restaurant was pretty much empty, and it started getting packed after 8 pm. Our waiter Pinky was so lovely, friendly, and attentive. Even our chef (I believe his name is Joshua) was very enthusiastic, entertaining us, and the food he made was delicious. My daughter wanted to go to hibachi restaurant so I decided to look for something convenient in the Bronx area. I found this place on Google and I decided to give it a go. What an amazing choice I might add. I came here on Sunday evening around 6 PM I was greeted and sat immediately. I was in a party of 4, two kids two adults. They gave us time to look over the menu and pick the drinks and food of our choice. The hibachi chef was exceptional, he made our dinner great. The food was so good. I can honestly say the portions were huge and I came hungry! The drinks were really good too. Aesthetically this place is fantastic. Beautiful, clean and well thought out. The staff is nice, however, they have their days. I've been coming here since they opened and overtime have noticed a difference with their food. Although it's amazing and seasoned well, I feel that overtime it just doesn't taste as good as the last. Beautiful restaurant but Horrible service! I came in for lunch on a hot Sunday afternoon. Only 1 other person in the restaurant and she already had her food. I had to seat myself, and waited several minutes with no one coming to offer me a menu or water. I actually got up and served myself water from the bussing station, then waited another 5 minutes before the server came. I ordered the 3 roll lunch special. An eel avocado roll, a spicy tuna roll and a spicy yellowtail roll. When it came, the 2 spicy rolls looked and tasted exactly the same. I looked around for a server, and had to call out loud for a couple minutes before anyone came. A busboy who went and got the manager. When he came, he insisted that the 2 rolls were distinct, but I was clear they were not. I've eaten sushi all over the world, and I know the difference between tuna and yellowtail, even when mixed with spicy Mayo. They just insisted the order was correct with no other discussion or any attempt to make me happy. The North Bronx doesn't have many sushi places, but this certainly does not fill the gap. read more

Okay so this has become my neighborhood haunt.......Manhattan Midtown upscale eating in the BX.........so imagine my surprise when they expanded during a pandemic no less. The Sushi is an epic appreciated addition....... I'm looking forward to the possible expansion of the menu which from the gate is fantastic already. I'd like to see Green Tea ice cream added. I had the lovely pleasure of dining at Flame restaurant last weekend. From the moment I walked in, I was met with a completely stunning and refreshing décor, a feel unique to NYC. There is a light-ness to the atmosphere that is really inviting and relaxing. Lighting is done very well, and a sense of spaciousness that is really unusual in most NYC restaurants. I was impressed with the separate dining areas, one large area for Hibachi and tables, and another area for regular tables. Every single food item that arrived was delicious. An incredible Yellowtail thinly sliced that melted in the mouth. A lightly fried SeaBass that defied what we know of taste buds. A baked shrimp scampi that was cooked to perfection. Noodles that are among the best I have ever had. My only problem with the food was I wish I could order everything on the menu!! I can't wait to try so much more there. And the menu has a fantastic array of selections. Really, this place knows what Crack is, in terms of Asian cuisine, and runs with it, offering a big assortment of it! The staff was equally enjoyable, all around. Pinky - 5 stars....fantastic and hospitable. Jose, wonderful server and very enjoyable to chat with. Definitely a bit disappointed. I visited the original Flame location on the Upper West Side a few years ago and I got really sick. I decided to give this location a try for a quick sit down dinner ( we did not sit at the hibachi tables). The bar was pretty full when we arrived; we were seated at the tables by the bar. I expected a waiter to come take our orders, instead the guy behind the bar brung us waters and provided us menus. Though he was extremely nice it was impossible that he could provide us with great service if he had to make drinks and take orders for those seated at the bar along with make drinks for the entire restaurant (those seated at all of the hibachi tables). While he did try his best he took long to take our orders. When the food finally came out about 35min later it wasn't as hot as it should have been, both of our soups and salads never came out. Our table was never checked on by any other staff and we had a third guest join us who never received a fork to even eat. I asked for the soup and salads to go since we were already over it but those items also never came out. The restraint is pretty big and I'm sure people have a great time if they are looking for more of a hibachi themed dinner, the drinks being made at the bar seemed to be good as many were being served; sadly we didn't get a chance to have 1. The food was pretty good I think it would have definitely been better if everything actually came out hot. read more

I got food poisoning from the sea bass and the response was did I tell the server it was undercooked and I need to get a doctor's note to get a refund. Also they did not accommodate my broken jaw. I was told I have to get dumplings or shrimp and cannot just get extra rice. Very disappointed. Cook food properly and if not just give a refund. read more

This is 3 and 1/2 . Three just doesn't paint the picture of a great experience, which we had. Disclaimer: I have found most hibachi spots to have great quality meats however the seasoning is usually more than I prefer ... think it's the salt and the soy sauce. It is not a reflection of the establishment per say, just has been my experience at hibachi spots. Our chef was great! Great entertainment and quality lobster and filet mignon. I had my eye on the location on 82nd, so when I found out that they were opening one close to me, I was HYPE! As my boyfriend and I were pulling up, we noticed how clean and fresh this place is now... if you are familiar with the area, you might remember that before, it was vacant and the parking lot was an eyesore! Thank you for bringing something new and fun to the area! Once we got inside, we were greeted and shown our table. Our chef introduced himself as John Wick, LOL. He seemed to know his crowd/environment and engaged with everyone! He did not overdue it; he was actually pretty hilarious.  For drinks, we had the rum punch bowl. The rum punch was actually not that strong; it was kind of a sleeper drink... But pair that with the sake that the chef was squirting in your mouth, and you will leave feeling GOOD! We each had the shrimp appetizers, a salad, and the filet mignon and chicken with fried rice. The food was delicious and I was super full. Oh, and the bathroom is just perfect. It was time for a nice family dinner so I chose Flame being that my mom has never experienced Hibachi. I'm so glad we came here!! Our chef is the BEST hibachi chef I've ever experienced (I've been to my share of hibachi restaurants in & out of the country). He was very interactive, super funny, energy on 100 and cooked everything the way we requested. My son started off with sesame wings as his appetizer( he raved about them) followed by the Steak & Chicken combo & I had the Steak & Shrimp combo. All of our food was piping hot and full of flavor. Steaks were cooked perfectly and the chicken wasn't dry. As my cocktail I had the Snow White Lechee (think of a Lychee Martini, perfect balance of alcohol & juice) as well as a glass of Prosecco. Our waitress was an absolute joy as well. She continually checked in with us to make sure we were ok, paying special attention to my mom which I really appreciated.
