I ordered a croissant with egg, cheese and I wanted turkey bacon but they don't have it. However, after looking at reviews I see they have turkey sausage. I would have definitely taken that if it was offered. I ordered an ice mocha too. It was ok. My sandwich was good, hot and fresh and it came out quickly. Seating appears to be an issue. Ppl moving chairs and tables around, I sat with a couple of strangers but no biggie. Very small place with no public restrooms which hmmm I don't know if that's legal (anyway, maybe that's temporary)? Overall go for the food, not the ambiance. Quick eats!! Gotta go know find a bathroom.... ugh! read more

Finally tried Flake after about two years of living in the area. My hesitation is mostly that I have to drive over there and it's a pain in my opinion to get there. Food was great! I had the super crojo and it was awesome. The croissant was crispy and tasty, and the rest was just flavorful and delicious. The portion size was great for the price. You typically pay over 12 dollars for this qty of food so you definitely get your value here. My wife got the breakfast burrito and loved it too. Will go again, we got takeout due to Covid. read more

The food here is really good. I mean the sandwiches are very affordable and totally delicious. But I would highly recommend getting food to go. It was my first time coming here and the attempt to find a table was grueling to say the least. People were actually sort of nasty about it. It was quite crowded and part of our order was incorrect, the wrong sandwich was made for us so we had to wait in a very small crowded area for a new one to be made. Another downside of this place is the iced coffee. It was absolutely horrible; bitter and watery. Totally un-drinkable. it tasted like something was wrong with it. My partner and I actually both threw both of our iced coffee's away. It would've been more enjoyable if I'd just taken the food to go in retrospect, and purchased a coffee at a coffee shop. But I was very happy with my sandwich. The taste was pretty out of this world actually, which is why am still giving this place four stars, even after experiencing these snags. The sandwiches are really good! As far as breakfast sandwiches go, they can't be beaten for the price. read more

I love this little spot. It's a corner cafe with the usual long lines and breakfast/lunch foods but unusually delicious food and a good strong coffee. Seating is sparse, few small tables inside and even fewer outside. It's a tight space. I got the Matty Chai latte and it's got a kick - strong and spicy just how I like it. The acai bowl is plentiful with lots of fresh berries and bananas, and a good size portion. The acai actually tastes like acai and not blended with a ton of ice like other places. The cro-jo (scro-jo?) is even more delicious, the croissant was fluffy and flakey and really hit the spot. Prices are decent and the staff are super friendly. This place goes into my books for fav brunch spots. read more

Came in for brunch and was lucky to find a table outside! It's very small inside so not the most ideal for big groups. Anyways, we got the ninja bowl to start. Açaí was a little more frozen then I prefer, but still flavorful and refreshing with the fresh fruit. Then we split the super cro-jo and turkey sausage breakfast burrito. The burrito was a tad basic for my liking - just has eggs, cheese and turkey sausage (we also added avo for $3). I could have used hash browns or a little something extra, but it was still decent. The super cro-jo was delicious! Croissant was so light and flakey and fresh. And the bacon adds an extra layer for texture - just a little hot sauce and we're set! I'd come back to for cro-jo and bowl, but prob pass on the burrito next time! read more

Flake has an old, welcoming cafe feel to it. It's a good place to grab a quick breakfast or brunch. I had the fatty on an everything bagel and added scrambled eggs to it. The sandwich was a little bland, and I was disappointed I didn't add the recommended bacon to it. The everything bagel added the most flavor to it. I had a bite of their hot tuna melt and it hit the spot. The secret sauce on the sourdough bread is delicious. The staff was very friendly and the food comes out super quick. The sitting space is pretty small and tight. There's also a few seats outdoors if you want some fresh air. read more

Okay this spot isn't terrible, it's just not my jam. The people are great and the Venice vibes are strong here. I had the turkey sausage breakfast burrito. It was okay, but man we live in Los Angeles the epicenter of the worlds greatest breakfast burritos. To top that, I swear there was American cheese on my burrito . I love this country and everything, but American f'ing cheese, nope definitely not for me. The burrito just wasn't good! This is a great neighborhood breakfast/lunch/bunch spot! Easy, fast, casual healthy. Most people will get a kick out the wide selection of cereal, but there are other options for those of us who crave real food, breakfast, bowls, burritos, sandwiches, salads. My personal favorite lately, the acai bowl... which feels like eating ice cream for breakfast... its a acai berry sorbet topped with fresh berries and bananas, and hemp granola. Soooo good. Definitley worth a stop. read more

Right off Rose St, tucked away on a corner in Venice is FLAKE. A healthy affordable little cafe. The food was fresh and prepared right when you ordered, not long of a wait and hot once arriving. I happened to be with my BF and our friend when we tried this spot for the first time, they really enjoyed the food as well. Will be back and will bring more people when I come !! read more

We chosed that plase based on reviews. A food was ready fast. Outside sitting is not clean. Table and chairs was dirty,sticky and old. No one cares about maybe a washing the area for dining with a pressure washer? Inside the shop is a mess. Food was good, but eat an Acai bowl with cheap plastic spoon is a pain! We probably won't come back again, because of the dirty enviroment. Now they have only outside area, no restrooms and photos from inside on Yelp are old. Prices comparing to quality of food is very good! I suggest to order a take out only. They should serve an Acai bowl in a bowl, not in paper box for chinese food. read more

This place is legit. Great breakfast spot off Rose Ave that's not overpriced and it's so yummy! I must find out how they cook their eggs because they are always perfect. They've got options for vegetarians, a handful of tables and benches outside where you can seat yourself, and it's walk-up window ordering. Simple, low stress, consistent. read more

Perfect little breakfast spot! We had the super crojo and it was amazing. The croissant was warm and flaky, the bacon had just the right amount of crunch. The eggs were soft and fluffy and the Gouda and the special sauce gave it just the right amount of kick!! Definitely would recommend!! read more

Reasonably priced, quick, delicious. What else could you really ask for? I've been meaning to check out Flake since I first moved to California in 2014, but didn't really get the chance until today. It definitely met my expectations and possibly exceeded them! The Super Cro-jo came out really quick and was just the right amount of filling. The eggs were so fluffy and veggies tasted fresh. And it was about $7, not bad at all, especially in this area. And it's got that Venice vibe too :') Oh and the servers were so nice! I'll definitely be coming back and taking friends as well. read more

Flake is a great trendy breakfast spot tucked away in Venice, and while the line and wait times can get exceptionally long given the sheer volume that they have to deal with, it's worth a visit. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Flake is small and the seating is cramped, so what you end up with is a constant stream of take out orders being handled. That's fine and I'm glad they do such a good business, but the result was me standing in line for maybe 10 minutes before waiting a full 30 minutes for my burrito. That's not absurd, and I'll be quick to point out that the service was friendly, but be prepared to wait. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? For $8.00 I got a thoroughly large breakfast burrito as you can see in the picture, and while $8.00 isn't cheap, it was reasonable. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? My breakfast burrito was good, but it didn't blow me away. For starters, I was puzzled to find that there were no potatoes in my burrito, which, as you can tell from the photo, resulted in a whole lot of egg. To each their own, but are their people who don't want potatoes of some kind in their breakfast burrito? Additionally, while I ordered the turkey sausage burrito, there wasn't a whole lot of it there, which, again, resulted in mouthfuls of just egg. In short, I've had much better breakfast burritos in town. Single Star. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Between the wait times and the food itself I can't say I'd come to Flake daily, but it's worth a stop. No Star. read more

Reasonably priced and a cute, casual breakfast/brunch spot in Venice if you're around the area. I got the "Ninja Bowl" which has walnuts, almonds, blueberries, bananas, strawberries, granola and a choice of an açaí or pitaya base. I went with pitaya and usually you can't go too wrong with a pitaya bowl but I didn't enjoy this meal at all. The base was extremely frozen so I had to wait for a while for it to somewhat melt, and it still wasn't appetizing then. The mixture of nuts was overwhelming and there were more toppings than there was smoothie so I wouldn't come here for this item again. However, my friend got the "Nutty Munkee" and she really enjoyed it. So next time, I'll try a different item on the menus! read more

This place is great. We got the Veggie Rad, the Crossain-wich Jones, and the oatmeal with berries, coconut, and bananas. Veggie Rad had some of the best veggie sausage I've had in awhile. The english muffin was toasted perfectly and it was just the right side to fill you up without making you feel sick after finishing. Was told that Croissant sandwich was amazing and super fluffy. Oatmeal was tasty as well, a bit of a large upcharge (3 dollars) to add the berries but I would say it's worth it. Portion size of the oatmeal was super big and the steel-cut is definitely the way to go! read more

Im pissed off at the fact that i paid 9$ for a damn egg and cheese croissant. The one they sell is $9 i asked for no bacon so you'd think it'd b cheaper but somehow ended up being the same price. Whole foods sales the same damn breakfast for half the price. Anyhow, i questioned it and they said it has to stay the same price with or without modifications and I think that's down right stupid and i've never heard of such thing. im done wasting my money here for small portions and mid seasoned food. I love supporting small businesses but i'll never spend a dollar here again. read more

I'm extremely late writing this review,but I had their breakfast sandwich a while ago. It wasn't bad. I went a couple of times after for the same. Nothing special. It has changed since the pandemic. Their croissant sandwiches are amazing! The croissant is delicious. I tried the Crojo and I'd highly recommend. The only downer is that seating is extremely limited; they have like 3 tables with 2 seats per table. So it's wise to plan accordingly. For me, it still definitely worth it tho. So good. Ordered the breakfast burrito and it did not disappoint! I got here around 10am on Sunday and while there was a crowd outside, it was pretty efficient. They called out names when our orders were ready. Only three tables for seating outside but I enjoyed it by the beach. read more
