I had such a special experience here. I had been wanting Peruvian food all weekend and decided to walk over to this place. I'm so happy I did, Rafael the owner was inside by himself and from the moment we met him, you could see how much he has a passion for his restaurant. It's a very small shop, but there is some tables outside for seating with a direct view of the ocean. This little gingerbread alleyway is adorable and a tiny little hidden gem in Venice. I tried the classic ceviche, and it was literally perfect. He put such care into making it and it is an art.. he really does it quite well making sure the Leche de Tigre is fully flavored, and that all of the ingredients are immersed in it, and the fish is so fresh - sea bass actually. He even sat down with us and told us his story, which is really moving and gives you another reason to appreciate this great small business. read more

We were hosting cousins that were interested in sightseeing in LA for a one-day layover. As we cruised around Venice, we found a PERUVIAN FOOD business tucked away in a brick structure of little businesses. We were warmly greeted by the owner, who seated and welcomed us, and handed us menus and took our order--for our group of eight adults, one hour before close. We each got bowls. I went with the Asian Bowl, others went with the Ceviche or Lomo bowls, and all the bowls looked good and everyone enjoyed their food. We appreciated the warm service and the love we could all taste in the food. What a great little option to have on the Venice beach boardwalk. REAL FOOD. This place is really bomb. It's tucked away in this little alley off the Venice boardwalk called Gingerbread Court. I got the Ceviche as recommended by the owner and the Peruvian sauce it's in is so good! The bowl looks small but there's actually a lot of food in it and a generous portion of fish, it was actually much more filling than I thought it would be. There's definitely a kick the sauce that doesn't hit you immediately but it kind of builds as you eat it. The owner was super friendly and helpful and he gave us some samples of the dessert, it was some ice cream they make though I forgot the flavor. I will say, the coolness of the ice cream felt really great on the mouth after the spiciness of the bowl. My only gripe is that it's a little on the expensive side for such a casual setting where you're eating with plastic utensils, but hey that's boardwalk prices. read more

A great spot for a fresh, flavorful meal just off the Venice Boardwalk. I had the ceviche bowl with an Inca Kola--huge, beautiful pieces of very fresh fish that were tasty and plentiful. Everything is made to order with fresh, healthy ingredients, and each dish feels like a small trip to Peru. It looked so good--great presentation. The restaurant is tucked inside the charming Scandinavian looking court, so you'll need to step into the courtyard to find it. The ambiance is calm and inviting, with minimal but lovely outdoor seating that's perfect for a relaxing lunch or snack near the beach. Service was excellent--fast, friendly, and very welcoming. If you're looking for a fresher meal while on the Venice Boardwalk, Peruvian Bowl is a great option! It's hidden inside the adorable Gingerbread Court, so you'll need to enter the cute courtyard area first. My friend and I stopped in while walking the boardwalk over the weekend and were happy with everything we had! We loved the outdoor seating, though minimal, and found it really relaxing and nice. I was excited the Peruvian Style Poke-Bowls lived up to the hype for us. The Ceviche Bowl has big chunks of marinated fish which were tasty and that "cancha" corn adds such a fun crunch to the dish! It was great with a mashed sweet potato base keeping it unique. I also had to try the Causa because it's a dish I've never had before! A Peruvian tangy cold, potato dish, it was fun for me and I loved it. The Causa here has a creamy chicken salad on top of the mashed potato base and is topped with guacamole. It was legit perfect beach food. Just the right flavors, invoking just the right feelings to eat looking out on the beautiful Pacific Ocean. There is nothing like food from Peru and Peruvian Bowl offers some great food with the smell and taste of Peru. You will be very happy you went. The place is on the Venice boardwalk so you will need to park at the end of Washington in the lot for the Venice Pier. Walk for just a bit and you will see Peruvian Bowl housed in a cute super mini mall that looks like a gingerbread house. The place is kept ever so clean and it is just so cute. It is not huge. We get our bowls to go. It is very small. There is lovely outdoor seating. The service is great. The staff is fast and friendly. I have not seen it crowed yet, but I bet when summer comes (it is winter as I write) there will be a line to order. the staff knows the food well and can guide you. All of the bowls are great. All are healthy and made to order from fresh ingredients and all of them will take you on a tiny trip to Peru. We love the spicy tuna bowl which is made with diced tuna in sesame sauce, mango, cucumber, sliced avocado, scallions, and edamame. The ingredients are dipped in a spicy mayo. The ceviche bowl is my favorite with chunks of fish marinated in a great sauce, mixed with sliced red onions, corn, cilantro, and 'cancha' corn. All is served on a mashed sweet potato base. They also have fantastic sandwiches. The chicharron is a traditional Peruvian pork sandwich and the bread is great. We also love the Butifarra which is a great ham sandwich. All of them are good. And you can make your own bowl if you want. I find it all to be a tad pricey, actually, quite pricey for what you get, so we will not go a lot, but we will be back. read more

I was casually riding bikes on the boardwalk with my family and we were surprised and excited to have bumped into this new spot! We immediately had to try it no questions about it. As soon as we walked in it felt right at home (hence the fact that I myself am Peruvian) the food tasted like home! And the ambiance was like home. Absolutely loved this lil Peruvian gem. If you're in Venice and looking for some healthy with authentic Peruvian flavors, this is the spot. We ordered a ceviche and lomo saltado bowl that were absolutely delicious, and the ceviche was so freaking good we ordered a second bowl. To top off the delicious bowls, we ordered an affogato made with Lucuma ice cream that was amazing. It's located in a very cute courtyard in Venice with a delightful ambiance. The location is undeniably fantastic--tucked just off the Venice Walk with a clear, stunning view of the beach and ocean. I had high hopes for the menu, which promised comforting, satisfying bowls. Unfortunately, the reality fell far short of expectations. The wait for my bowl was unusually long, and what arrived was disappointing. The dish consisted mostly of dry rice, some vegetables, and overcooked chicken. The chicken was so dry and tough that it was difficult to eat, leaving me with a heavy, uncomfortable feeling in my stomach for hours afterward. Even the rice was poorly prepared, lacking any moisture or flavor. At around $20 per bowl, the quality is far below what you'd expect--honestly, even a quick stop at Panda Express would provide a better experience. Unless they make significant improvements by hiring a skilled chef and rethinking their approach to food, I can't see this place surviving more than a year. The amazing location alone won't save it. read more

The owner, I assume,…read more(working shirtless, beach-casual vibe) took my order -- I asked for the special, grabbed a ginger-lemon seltzer from the fridge, and got two ground beef empanadas. Total came to $16 plus tax and tip, about $20 -- solid value for dinner on the beach. I asked for chimichurri, but it came already poured over the empanadas rather than on the side. I wish the waiter had asked first -- I'd have preferred it separate so the crust stayed fully crisp. Everything was served in a simple disposable tray with a plastic spoon, and no napkins came with the order, which mattered more given the sauce situation. You can't grab and pick the empanada up without getting sauce on your hands and trying to eat the empanada with a spoon just crumbles everything... Despite that, the crust held up reasonably well, and the filling was rich and full of umami, a touch dry on its own but the chimichurri more than made up for it. Would I go back? Yes. Would I ask for sauce on the side next time? Definitely Suggestion for the owner: 1. Offer a to-go half-dozen option cause your empanadas are 2. always ask customers whether they want sauce on or on the side -- (or include napkins by default when chimichurri's involved)

Some are already cooked and just need to be reheated, which only takes a few minutes while those with cheese take at least 10 minutes. I ordered the eggplant and jalapeño and cheese just before leaving. The staff said the eggplant would be ready quick but the jalapeño and cheese would take about 5 minutes. My parking time was ending in 10 minutes so I figured that's perfect. 15 minutes later, other patrons were crowding around waiting for their orders while I was still waiting for my jalapeño and cheese. The staff and small ovens were doing their best and were finally able to get everyone's orders out. They put a good amount of chimichurri on top, the crust is crispy and the flavorful fillings were hot. Besides empanadas, they offer fresh baked cookies, muffins, bottled beverages, coffee and tea drinks. I'd definitely come back but will keep in mind the ones with cheese take a while!
