Horrible experience. Save yourself the hassle and pick a different auto body shop. Initial communications were great. Dropped my car off on a Monday morning and was told it would be ready by Monday the following week. Insurance quote said it should take 3 days to repair. Well did not get a message until Sunday night that car would not be ready, waiting on the bumper. By the way they don't work on the weekend so why did I not get call on Friday? Called on Monday, then told oh just have to wait for paint to dry. By 10 am Wednesday still no call or car. So I called again and now there are 4 more things that need to be done....just a bunch of lies, false promises. Horrible experience. My vehicle was backed into so went to Fix Auto after my parents recommended this place. Of course the great service they received, that worker no longer worked there, Jose. My vehicle had the bumper and headlamp pushed in. When I first arrived to pick up my vehicle after it was supposedly ready, it was worst then when I left it. The light was still sitting inside, as if they did no adjustment to the frame and the hood was covering partially the headlamp and not sitting flush next to each other as the other side was. The bumper was reset from where it had dropped, but to my surprise they pushed out the other side leaving the passages side with a large gap. On top of that the bumper had bubbles in the paint job. Calmly and respectfully and in shock I said, "I'm sorry but this is not acceptable" and proceeded to explain everything I'm looking at and shocked they were not seeing it too. Nobody would have been fine with the job they did and frightening they thought the job was done. Instead I got excuses like "oh it's an after market light" and "lights never fit the same" and "my guy said the bubbles were already there," and went on to say, "But I'll have my guy look at the bumper because of the gap." The following week I came more prepared and borrowed a headlamp from my mechanic and glad I did. This time they brought the worker who worked on the car. He brought out some tool and showed how there was no frame damage. However I put in my headlamp and showed how there is something off and emphasize the hit was lower and pushed my lamp in and down. Pancho as they called him said "you weren't that hard," which he said several times and the other staff said "cars bumpers and lights are never the same after an accident." I asked "are you sure there is not any damage in the frame somewhere down here" as I pointed below the brackets that held the lamp. Pancho said "the only thing bent was this." Despite the issue with how the light was sitting and frustrated they were not taking accountability for their poor job I took my car back. On top of this when they brought my car back my license plate was bent up horribly like someone was mad. I points that up and Paco or Pancho said, "it was already like that. If you want me to fix it I will have to take it off." I said no thank you. I will do it myself. After, I went to my mechanic to return his headlamp and less than 30 seconds he pointed out the problem in the frame. Literally a steel bracket bent with a gap in it. When he pointed out both sides it was clear and obvious where the problem was. Either the worker didn't want to do the job, as it would have been labor intensive, or lacks the know how. Either way a horrible experience. No accountability or pride for ones' own work. Workers that don't seem to understand professionalism, but fine with mediocracy (which was worse than mediocre work the first time they tried to give me back my car). Never again. read more

I've had my Mustang for 16 years. The car was the 40th Year Anniversary model of the Mustang so I did my best to take care of her. Yes, my car is a her. She is beautiful and definitely has an attitude. I stopped driving her when she hit 95K because I didn't want to go over 100K. She sat in my garage and I would start her up from time to time. I even thought about selling her but she is hard to break up with because she still runs like dream. Smooth and fast. I decided after I retired, yes Im an old guy, to see if I could do some modifications on the car. I kept seeing this new color gray the new cars were sporting and it looked great. I had to go to a car dealership to get this particular gray color code. I looked around and requested quotes from several auto body shops in my area. I had several offers to paint my car but I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg to get it done. I received a quote from CID's Auto Body and was impressed by the quote given to me. Now I'm the type of guy who likes things done correctly the first time. I wanted the entire car painted inside and out. I wanted the engine compartment, door jams, trunk, side panels, etc, etc, painted professionally. I met with Johnathan who assured me he could definitely match the color I requested and paint the entire car for a very reasonable price. The price quoted was very reasonable. I actually thought the price was to reasonable. I figured after the company got my car they would fluff the price. Johnathan throughout the whole process maintained the price he gave me. Wow, a company that stands by their word. It's great to see there are companies out there that still believe the customer is right. CID's is that type of company. An O.G. in the business. Like everyone looking for auto body work that will be paid for out-of-pocket and not thru insurance, I did lots of research to decide where to take my truck in North County for repair. I happened upon CID Auto Body in San Marcos as I was looking for spray-on bed liner. Their sister shop and neighbor on the block does Rhino Lining. I took my truck in to get a VERY large hole repaired in the bed leading up into the left wheel well. From the beginning calls with Alex at CID talking thru the quote process to the day I picked it up, communication was always clear and helpful. Alex kept me updated on his team's progress of the repair throughout both days it was in the shop. With the truck being a newer Ford, it's not just metal that they're working with, it's aluminum in the body so welding takes extra skill and precision. What an awesome Experience! Arrived to the area yesterday evening, and identified that my auto needed some body repair. I contacted Alex and we set up an appointment for 10:30 AM at about 9:00 AM. I arrived 15 minutes early and was immediately scheduled. Alex took me with him when he reviewed the status of my car, and immediately I knew "Fix Auto San Marcos" was a special customer oriented business, as he looked over my car he noted that a bracket had broken. I would not have known, except he took the time to point it out in detail. This is where the value of the service began, the bracket replacement price was less than $20 plus the labor to install. This value continued as they did the project, along the way they needed a couple of rivets, which could have put the whole thing "on hold", but they found a couple without delaying the job. As they started putting the car back together they took the time to check everything and even found another bracket that was broke. A new replacement would cost over $1700, but as they looked at it, they suggested using an alternate repair technique, which was about $100. Along the way, I was kept appraised in detail of the project status verbally and with pictures, as appropriate. I would recommend "Fix Auto San Marcos" to everyone. read more

I rear ended a Jeep in rush hour stop and go traffic on the freeway. I drive a 2002 Audi TT convertible which is a great car but no match against the rear end of a Jeep. Insurance totaled my car and paid me out approx. $10k. Unfortunately, personal circumstances necessitated that I had to repair my Audi vs. buying a new car. Now I had to find a body shop that would work on a salvage car. I located Fix Auto - San Marcos and worked with Alex Arredondo. Alex was amazing from start to finish. He asked me to send photos for a quick evaluation to determine if they would be able to work on my car. His turnaround time to advise me he could fix my car was within hours of receipt of my pictures. My car had been towed to another collision shop associated to my insurance carrier, so I had to arrange for my car to get towed from there over to Alex. My insurance company handled the situation, and I expected the car would be towed that same day. At the end of the following day, Alex followed up to tell me my car had not arrived yet. I confirmed with my insurance that it was due to be towed to Alex the following day. I must note that I was impressed by Alex's attention to the situation and his communication to keep me apprised of the status. I met with Alex on June 1 to do a walkthrough and discuss damages and costs. There was a lot to unpack and digest! He was very sympathetic to my situation that my car had to be fixed and I had no choice but to ensure it got fixed. The original collision company quoted around $7800 but they had not done a teardown to see the entire scope of work that would be required so it was a bit of a sticker shock to be quoted $11.5k but Alex was thorough and explained every detail to me in easy-to-understand language, specifically pointing out what was damaged and what that damage meant overall. He explained the pros and cons of every decision. He explained that he would work at finding refurbished after-market parts wherever he could to help save costs (I expected this for a 21-year-old car). I also wanted assurances that my car would be repaired to "good as new" condition. Fortunately, I had a loaner car from a friend, so I was in the position to be able to wait it out while parts were being sourced. Alex went online daily to search for the elusive parts necessary. He kept me updated constantly about what parts were found and what parts were still being sourced. He told me some parts would come in but in unacceptable condition and he had to return some and keep looking. It took over 7 weeks to locate all 16 major parts. I am eternally grateful for this diligence on Alex's part because I know most other companies would have thrown in the towel after 2-3 weeks and would have told me the parts were unavailable so the car could not be fixed. When I picked up the car, I was so excited to see that the repairs and body work were 5 star all the way! There was nothing that indicated it had been in an accident at all - it was "as good as new"! The paint matched perfectly and they were nice enough to give me a little touch up paint for my future needs. Even better, the original quote held up (in fact, it was $250 less than originally quoted) which tells me they know their stuff, no surprises, no bait and switch. I did have a follow up issue with my check engine light getting tripped and Alex was super accommodating telling me to bring it in immediately. It turned out to be one last damaged part that slipped by everyone's awareness. Again, it required a lot of time to source. It took about 6 weeks to locate, and Alex delivered the same attentiveness, and the team was just as efficient for the rework. I did not know that Fix Auto was a chain and there was a location within 5 miles of my home. Somehow, I ended up in their location about 15 miles away but my experience with Alex and the Fix Auto Team in San Marcos was so exemplary and 5 star that I would take my car back to Alex's location rather than the convenient location by my house. Alex and the rest of the San Marcos Fix Auto team treated me with the best customer service, provided the best communications and updates, and their work was so outstanding!! Everyone who saw my car repair agreed that my car looked fantastic in every way. I cannot thank Alex and Fix Auto San Marcos enough. All I can do now is submit this review so everyone looking for a collision body repair shop will know that there is no need to look any further than the team at Fix Auto San Marcos.
