Well, 7 years later and another very good experience at Safelite Escondido. I had my windshield replaced at the El Cajon location and the woman at the front desk was OK but the tech was unfriendly and had an attitude. As I drove home, I noticed significant distortion on the windshield that was very distracting. I tried calling the shop as soon as I got home, but was unable to get through. I got very good service from their customer care line (I was expecting a hassle) and the rep was very patient accommodating my busy schedule. I decided to follow up at Escondido instead of El Cajon and I'm glad I did. I was pleased to get a personal phone call from the office manager Vicki the day before my appt. I was surprised to find out that Safelite already had a replacement windshield ready. The lead tech, Albert, was friendly and helpful and the replacement took a little over 2 hours. Very pleasant area to wait. Unfortunately the new (aftermarket) windshield still has more distortion that my OEM original, but it's much better than the first replacement and it's tolerable. read more

I feel like you are treated like a second-class customer if you drive a Tesla and take your vehicle to Safelite, even when you have a scheduled appointment. I was required to bring my Tesla into the shop because the windshield replacement required window recalibration. I was told that my vehicle needed to remain at the shop for the entire day. I made arrangements to take the day off work and expected the repair to be completed as scheduled. At the end of the day, when I returned to pick up my vehicle, I was shocked to find out that they had not even worked on it. While I was there, I overheard an employee state that they had run out of time and that Teslas are worked on last, after all other appointments have been completed. When I arrived, I was then told that the replacement windshield had been damaged. No one contacted me during the day to provide an update or let me know there was an issue. Had someone called me, I could have avoided wasting an entire day off work. Instead, I was left to come back at the end of the day only to be given excuses and conflicting explanations for why my vehicle was never serviced. This was an extremely frustrating and unprofessional experience. I will not be using Safelite again, and I will be sharing my experience with my friends and family so they can make an informed decision before choosing Safelite for their vehicle repairs. read more

Do not believe the commercial hype. This Company has less than stellar communication. They had my BMW i3 VIN for 6 days, I was quoted just over $600 for a windshield replacement, but the day before my appointment I was called and informed my front collision camera would need to be calibrated after the install, and that would cost me just under $400. Over $1k to complete the work. Wow! Luckily I cancelled to reassess my options. What did I find? Everybody must go to a local window glass shop. They not only replaced my window for $459, but also charged me $100 for calibration. $559 at a local San Marcos Window. Look at my reviews , it's my latest 5 star review and the companies 179th! Professional service and conveniently located off the 78/15 freeways. Clean inside. Reminder call for service. Has a small office table and plenty of seating in waiting room with a complementary coffee station and water dispenser. Got my cracked windshield replaced. Takes 2.5-3 hours to get completed. They offer windshield wipers replacement as well for an additional cost (about $99). Overall, good experience and helped that our insurance covered some of the cost. read more

I wouldn't give one star, but you have to in order to post a review. I made my windshield replacement appointment last week. I arrived early on my appointment date as instructed. I dropped my car off at 0730. I was told that I could pick up my car at 5pm. When I arrived at 5pm my car was parked right where I left it. I asked why my windshield had not been replaced. The guy in the work area there shouted that they had been too busy. When I asked if he could come into the front office and explain why no one had even called me, he became silent and would not come into the reception area! Needless to say I am EXTREMELY disappointed. In order to avoid going there again I have made an appointment with Safelite in Carlsbad and now have to wait until Saturday. My insurance company told me that if I didn't want to use Safelite I could go anywhere but would have to pay the total cost of the windshield up front. I wish I could afford to. I have NEVER had this level of horrible customer service. I would NOT recommend! read more

Save yourselves the trouble and go with a different company. The person working on the replacement made a small dent and some scratches on the infotainment screen, dropped my new keys and scuffed them, and lastly left my car dusty from the replacement. I called their customer service and had a case number made up for me, but 5 business days passed no call or email came in. Called again and once again have not received a call. You'd think there is a protocol a company has to follow with these types of calls but I guess they prefer to ignore customers once the work gets paid. read more

After waiting 10 min to be acknowledged.. and the place was empty I should have known to beware.. small chip size of a dime wanted to catch it before it spreads.. I was quoted $164 then $167 .. for a chip repair paying cash..Website says chip repair are $50-75 .. and the quote on the website was $159 or have your insurance billed for $69. Does anyone else see an issue here with the pricing but me ... They weren't even like on a paper quote .. she was stating a number off her head.. this concerns me and should concern you as well. Three strikes in one week! They must not want to help anyone.. I need a new windshield and called them as soon as my insurance gave me my claim number. The CS agent told me she couldn't find my claim so I told her that I would just pay for it and bill the insurance myself then. She wouldn't schedule the appointment. I went online the next day and was able to schedule an appointment for an OEM replacement online at the shop for 3 days later(Thursday). On Wednesday I got a call from the shop saying they have me scheduled for Th but only have the aftermarket for my SUV. My insurance covers OEM so I'm not compromising quality. They rescheduled to come out to my house on Monday but said they would reschedule if they didn't have the glass yet. I got a call this am (Sa) at 9 confirming the appointment for Monday and said they were able to get my glass. At 11AM, I got an email-not a call, saying that my appointment was CANCELLED! I called immediately and was told that it was done by this shop in Escondido, not corporate. First I was told it was because they were overbooked then it was because they also didn't have my glass yet. Not a call. Just a corporate email. Someone lied to me, not sure whom but either way, I learned. Just because your insurance company says it's their preferred venue, it's because of $$ for them. I should have listened to my gut and went local or to the dealership. I have an appointment Tuesday with a local place to get it done. read more

Sadly, Safelite was terrible. I had to remind them three times that I wanted the old side moldings back after the repair. I told the receptionist, the technician who took my keys and to the technician who handed back the keyswhen the repair was done. Safelite also lagged on ordering the OEM windshield for my Acura, and I had to purchase the side molding separately. Lastly the receptionist Victoria was especially pushy in trying to get me to purchase an aftermarket windshield, when I wanted and had the money for an OEM unit. The whole process from start to finish took 3 months, but it was the holidays so people were taking time off. The experience was terrible, I do not recommend. I will go to the dealership for OEM windshields from now on. read more

Don't know what they are doing . Had to bring my car here because my insurance said it had to be in shop and not at home . Dropped off at 7:30 AM ( which is when my appointment was) . They didn't even start working on it until after 4:00 PM . They close at 5:00 PM. Still waiting in the lobby at 5:40 PM. Window is not working with sensors because they used a knockoff window instead or OEM. Now I have to drive with a faulty windshield and sensors until they can order an OEM one like they should have done in the first place. Wish I could have gone somewhere else that uses OEM products instead . read more

First, the website only allows you to do "drop off" on Saturdays so make sure you call for an appointment. When they tell you that you are the first car and it shouldn't take long, its a lie. Its almost impossible to get someone on the phone. I was finally told my car would be done at a certain time and it was two more hours after that of sitting in the lobby waiting. So, dont make any plans and just be prepared to not have your vehicle for at least 9 hours read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. Took my Tesla to get the windshield repair and they chipped the the roof glass and said it wasn't them. The guy (Eduardo) who replaced the windshield left glass all over my interior, left scratches on the driver door, his dirty finger prints all over the sides of the windshield. I called Melinda the manager very en efficient and helpless save your self a headache and don't go there, I had taken another vehicle before and had a terrible experience as well couple years ago and gave them the benefit of the doubt never again. They offered to vacuum the vehicle 5days after waiting for a response are they kidding me what did they think I was gonna be driving my car with glass are they dumb or what. read more

Replaced cracked windshield for my 2025 Mercedes with OEM glass. Unfortunately, they could not recalibrate the cameras after multiple attempts. The technician explained that they have to use a third party because they do not have direct access to the Mercedes software. The third party vould not give them the proper calibration numbers. The technician was very knowledgeable and promptly refunded the $500 for the recalibration. I would recommend for the windshield replacement. read more

Pretty much a scam. Book an appointment online, their site asks for the VIN and a couple questions. Price is displayed and paid; booking done. I take the vehicle out of service for the day to have the windshield fix which cost me $575 in sales for the day. When I arrive at the Safelite location I'm told, it will be 5 times the amount I paid. 5x is not a mistake; I truly believe this is their business model. Classic bate and switch. I was steered to Safelite by my insurance company, but they were specific not to "recommend" them, simply to say that work with them "A Lot!" When getting my quote, Safelite was specific to say they don't use "Factory" windows, but ones that are "just as good." I agreed to have the work done. Afterwards, I noticed some distortion in the glass making it difficult to see clearly through the passenger side of the windshield. I had them redo it before the warranty was up. Same thing on the next one. I realized there would not a resolution to this since Safelite uses cheap crappy off brand glass. Don't do it! Go to a company that will use factory glass. read more

If I could rate this place a zero I would. I dropped off my car at 8:30am and didn't receive my car until 5:50pm. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing because it only takes 1 hour to install and replace the windshield. How do I know this? Well I received the notification that they started working on my car at 4:34pm and finished at 5:41pm. There was no reason to hold my car at the shop the whole day for a one hour service. The cost and supposed value was not worth the time or the service. Safelight came out to replace my wife's windshield. A day later, the rain sensor fell off. I checked it out, it was a defective bracket on the windshield. That stuff happens. Safelight came back out to fix it. They said the sensor was loose, snapped it back on and split. 5 minutes later, it wasn't working because the bracket would not stay attached to the windshield. It was defective, and even a rookie would have known that. Then, safelight required my wife to make an appointment to bring the car in for them to look at it. She had to take the day off- and she has a high level job. They looked at it and told her that the bracket was defective, happens a lot, and they would have to follow up to install a new windshield. They didn't even bother to have a replacement on hand in case it was required for her appointment. These people are inept and do not take pride in their work. More importantly, they do not have any respect for their customer's time. How many contacts should it take to fix a windshield? Answer: 1. If there is an unforeseen problem, it should be corrected and the second contact. This job is going to require at least 4 contacts. Should have just had the glass guy at the junk yard do it. At least he does it right the first time! Re: the generic response, I find it highly unlikely that this will be resolved. After glancing at the reviews left by other customers, it is clear that the Escondido safelite guys are substandard, and have been for a very long time. Next time I need work done, I'll be sure to check reviews first. I have another car that needs a windshield replaced and safelite is my last choice. read more

Super annoyed by Safelite for couple reasons. First installing non-OEM glass without telling me. 2nd failing to realize that my truck was lifted and so they were unable to do sensor recalibration. My husband recently had his truck broken into at Aladdin airport parking. We contacted Safelite online and was able to schedule an appointment for the repair of his window within a week. They kept in constant communication and did the job professionally and quickly. They did put in OEM parts. They handled the insurance filing and we only had to pay our $100 deductible. Had a broken windshield and the anti-collision requires calibration after glass change so I had to come in. Unbeknownst to me, I booked a "drop off for the day" appointment. There was no "drop off and wait" option. Fine, do they have a courtesy van so I don't have to be here all day? "No, unfortunately because of COVID we don't offer that ". I took my car here to replace a cracked windshield. I didn't realize until months later that the top seal was partially tucked/smooshed under the the windshield frame towards the drivers side. It's a sloppy job and wish I had seen it sooner to take it back have them redo their sloppy work.
