We cannot recommend Five Star Subaru as we have no use for them. They are a car dealership full of salesman that are there to make a buck; just like any other car dealership. Unfortunately, one of the extended warranty policies we were sold, we were told, was to repair scratches and dings. Ones like a car would receive in a parking lot. To our surprise, when we inquired to have some damage to our vehicle repaired, we discovered Five Star Subaru does not have a body shop and does not do this type of repair. This seems to be more than slightly dishonest. We cannot, and will not, do any business with this dealorship in the future, other tham maintenance on our present Subaru. Despite their claims, they are the normal, everyday car dealership and should be approached with suspicion as one does all the others. read more

I purchased my outback from this dealership and that is where the service ENDED! The service dept SUCKS! You can never get them to answer the phone. They claim they will email and text you but, they never do. They had my car once for 4 days and never even checked it out. The management changes at the rate I change my undies. There is a long time service guy there that is so condescending I want to punch him in the face. When you bring the issues to them, they poopoo them under the rug and promise to never do it again...which is a LIE. I now take my car to Groove Subaru in Colorado. They know what service is. You never wait on hold, never are treated poorly, and the communication is on point. They even give you free Lyft rides back and forth if your car will be in service for more than an hour. 5 Star Subaru is the worlds worst for service. I even wonder if they actually have Subaru certified mechanics. I love Subaru.........but, 5 Star Subaru service is a JOKE!!!! Run don't walk to any other dealers service center. read more

My vehicle is my project 2013 Scion FR-S race car in the making. My vehicle stands out from all the stickers I have that represent it. Honestly, The only good job this company has done, is fix up my timing chain and other mechanisms that was going on with my ride. With that being said, I don't know who, but I ended up having a new error that I have NEVER got before. I ended up with an EVAP code, and this guy Mike (Michael) had the balls to tell me, "it happens all the time, you just need to drive it 4 weeks." Or however he put it, but it's long past that now, and I'm very disappointed, because it caused me not to pass my car expection. I was an ASM for Pepboys, and I know how it all goes when dealing with customers. I would much appreciate an honest answer than having to lie to me or make up crap just to have customers stop bothering you. It's VERY bad business to do that. Not only that, but to leave my ride VERY dirty??? Yeah man, very high class for the dealership to be called, "Five Star Subaru". I have a very hard time driving with so much filth on my windshield. I have no windshield fluid nor a windshield cap. So, it would have been nice for them to clean my ride at least. Then, I would have really believed it to be a 'Five Star Subaru' company. If you're looking to have good communication skills with them and all that kind of good stuff, then I wouldn't really entirely rely on these kind of people when it comes to that. Although, I will respect on how grateful I am for my ride to be back without my very rough idle, but I can't deal with that EVAP code that came out of no where. It's never been a thing, and I never heard anything from Mike when I asked about it. I would have been pretty happy if he was able to fix the problem if it was an error from a mechanic or if I was to pay for something that wasn't the repair that was going on with my ride. I wouldn't mind it either way, but I just didn't appreciate the fact that I was completely ignored. I was looking for a safer family vehicle and noticed my neighbors forester. Went in to test drive and really liked the one I drove. The salesman seemed very knowledgeable and was of course eager to sell. Came in the next day to let my SO test drive with me. Decided to buy that day. The first issue is with the salesman not knowing the model. I was misled to believe the model I drove was a sport. So when I researched prices for that model the price point seemed fair. When I came home with it we realized we were missing some key things the sport should come with. When I called back to ask about it I was told I did not own a sport. Yay me! In addition to being mislead on the model, I've had issues with my calls not being returned. You're better off going in person. I was told I could cancel my gap insurance at any time and called to ask what I needed to do to cancel and never received a return call. The first time it was regarding tint they said to call and get setup. Had to come in and request that too. Just overall, not the "five star" experience I was expecting. I finally bought a certified preowned car (CPO) from Five Star Subaru in end of August 2024! I have been in market and searching for a car since June 2024, preferred from a dealership. Unfortunately, all dealerships that I dealt with have add on/re-conditioned fee that they reluctant or not willing to disclose until you go to the dealership to test the car. Not Five Start Subaru. I saw the car that I like and at reasonable advertised price. I request for all in out of the door price before I schedule for test drive at dealership. Surprisingly, I got a reply with a full quote of the final price of the CPO car (advertised car price + tax + necessary documentation) that does not have any "hidden fee". I scheduled a test drive and bought the car at exactly the quoted price. The fact that they were willing to provide and final quote on paper when requested is amazing. Sales process is great. I have the car for 2 weeks now and it is as good as I could imaging. read more

He advised me we are waiting on fuse from there parts warehouse in Coppell and there waiting for item to be shipped. I had a great experience as a first time Subaru buyer. I had researched online some sales people and found a lot of chatter around Rio Manalo who I then courted to perspectively buy from. Rio was absolutely amazing!!!! What a sweetheart!!! She was not aggressive, pushy, at all, she was very welcoming and sweet, super kind and listened, and showed me the car I wanted, even brought another less expensive car to look at side by side to the one I was inquiring about (outback wilderness) I finally decided to pull the trigger. The ordering process for the wilderness to all the communication up to the point of delivery was a breeze. The day of sale, the sales manager even came to just introduce himself, never have I seen this before ever in a dealership. Something so simple, but a nice touch. Finance guy Kenny was cool and had us in and out with no beating us over the head with additional things to buy or add for warranties. He laid them all out, asked us what if we wanted any of them and that was it. No long lecture about why I need to buy a certain warranty. Great job Kenny. Even the receptionist with the southern accent was a sweetheart. If you want a Subaru, look no further than 5 star. I think they genuinely care about their customer base. Had a flat due to a nail a couple days ago and had that fixed elsewhere but that has messed up my eye sight component (which I paid a pretty penny for) the fix is just plugging it in and clicking a button to reset the car's electronics.. I was told I needed an appointment that was almost two months away.. I wasn't suggested to another location or anything. Let me start by saying that no matter who you are, buying a new car can be a stressful experience.... but especially as a single female. I'm very Type A and do my research on cars I'm interested in so I hate when people don't take me seriously, bamboozle, and mansplain to me (yes, it's 2020 but I still had bits of this happen at other dealerships). I can honestly say none of this happened at five star subaru and I especially enjoyed working with Steve Kroes. He knew his subarus, genuinely wanted to get me in a car that was right for me (not pushy at all), and really went above and beyond sending me detailed videos of different cars until I could see them in person. He was especially knowledgeable in the age old question outback vs forester (I ended up going with the 2020 forester and I'm in love). The finance manager I worked with, Michael Cox, was also very straight to the point with no fluff or pushing me to get more coverage than was absolutely necessary, and even gave me some great tips for my move to Colorado. Overall this was a pleasant, no bs, no pushy sales experience. I drove from downtown Dallas so I passed a couple of other subaru dealerships.... and I would do it again. Also due to this being covid times, it is worth mentioning they were following all the typical rules and I didn't see a single person without a mask, even in the 107° Texas heat. read more

Several weeks ago, as part of my service visit, the 5 Star Subaru of Grapevine service department did their "Complementary (should be spelled Complimentary) World Class Subaru 27 Point Inspection". They claimed my car's tail lights were inoperative and recommended that I pay them $149.95 for diagnostic work to figure out the cause of the problem. Any required repairs would then be at additional cost. I did not pay to have this diagnostic work done, but instead checked out the tail lights myself as soon as I got home after the service visit. Every time I applied the brakes, all the tail lights lit up and were working fine. Over the next day. I checked the tail lights more than 10 separate times and they worked correctly every time. In my opinion, this dealership is guilty of consumer fraud. They try to get you to pay for totally unnecessary diagnostic work and charge a high price for this work. They will then be able to quickly fix the tail light problem because no problem existed in the first place. There is no ambiguity about tail lights lighting up. They either do light up or they don't. No technical expertise is required to observe this issue. Be careful about accepting their service recommendations, which in this case were dishonest. Or better yet, just go to the service department of a different, honest Subaru dealership. read more

He originally had an appointment with someone who didn't happen to be here when we arrived so we worked with Rutger and he was amazing! So patient with my friend when buying his first car and we didn't finance through them so they didn't make as much money off of but he was still so nice to us which was awesome. It really is a Five Star Subaru. Salesman treats you with excellent customer service. It is so excellent that they even let you know if they're going to have lunch and let you know that another salesman will be assisting you (never seen that in other dealerships). They make sure you get everything you need and to help you keep satisfied. They even provide you some complimentary snacks at the snacks bar while you're waiting. Another thing I love about this dealership is that they have these giant windows to watch mechanics fixing your car while your sitting in a nice couch and it really shows that they are really genuine on fixing your vehicle. It's also more complete here like the accessories and the car line-ups when you need them. I've also found tons of great deal price at the dealership, especially the Forester and Legacy seem to have a reasonable price. If you we're to buy a Subaru, this is a place to go. It's been 6 months since I purchased my Subaru from Five Star Subaru, so this review is long overdue. I have always HATED car dealerships - I want nothing to do with the car buying process. I find it annoying and unnecessarily long. Five Star Subaru was the best and easiest car buying experience I have ever had. I had the pleasure of working with Jordan who was so friendly. We didn't have to do the back and forth with management four thousand times that I've come to expect with dealerships and he happily showed me pictures of his dog when I asked...because I asked. ‍ I can't remember the name of the finance guy I worked with, but he was a cool dude and very easy going. A few weeks later, they offered an appointment with Shantai to answer any questions about my vehicle and I got a gift card to QT just for showing up. That bought me about 20 mango iced teas from the QT, so I feel pretty good about that. I am looking forward to continuing to return to Five Star Subaru as I keep my vehicle in tip top shape. My Ascent had a vibration/shake going on and it needed an oil change. I decided to take care of both at the same time. When I mentioned the vibration/shake to the service rep. he wanted to do a diagnostic for $189 then charge me for whatever needed to be fixed. I asked about lesser options such as tire rotation, balance tires, etc. He said that could not be the problem and you don't have to balance tires and there was no other option but the diagnostic... he was quite condescending. So, I just asked if they could do the rotation and I would make another appointment if this didn't work. Well, it didn't work. Seeking lesser costly solutions I took my car to another automotive place and within 3 minutes they saw and spent the time so show me that I needed new tires. It was so obvious since the steel belted radials was shredding and sticking out all around the inside of the tire like a bad haircut. It should have been obvious to the technicians rotating the tires that they were about to fall apart. But no, they did the rotation and charged me... all the while my tires were beyond their lifespan. Something that should have been fairly obvious to a good auto mechanic. I bought four new tires and my car now drives incredibly smooth. My last visit was going to be my last as I was very disappointed with the service department's effort, service rep and "service" provided. After seeing the simple solution, I guarantee that I will never step foot in Five Star Subaru Grapevine again. read more

My experience at this dealership was far superior to any experience at a car dealership ever. The people were so friendly and genuine! Car shopping is probably one of my least favorite activities on the face of the earth. After visiting this location, I can't imagine going anywhere else because they were amazing and everywhere else wasn't great. Landon helped me out to find exactly what I was looking for. He was very knowledgeable about vehicles, patient, and upfront with information. He was easygoing and was the nicest salesman I've ever met! He truly believes in what he does, and it shows. They offered snacks and drinks during this day long activity of car shopping. Landon showed us around the dealership and explained everything in detail while we were there. He even bought us an ice cream from the ice cream truck outside after earlier in the day when be asked if we needed anything, and we said jokingly that ice cream could make car shopping better. Everyone dealing with this dealership should beware of there poor service and incompetence. I recently brought my new 2018 WRX in for it's 5K service and the technician forgot to tighten the drain plug for the engine correctly. I ended up driving 2 miles before all the oil drained out with the engine running and causing an overheating of the engine with a smokey mess. I had to have the vehicle towed back to the service department since they were "unable" to do it for me and met with the general manager Tony Hooman. He tried to blame it on a mechanical breakdown of the vehicle until I insisted they get it up on the lift. Once on the lift, I was able to get a photo and verify it was missing the drain plug and they were negligent of destroying my new car's engine. I was ensured that everything was going to be taken care of but after not getting really any commination from the dealership, I went up there after a week and saw my vehicle in the same position as I left it 7 days before without any work being done to it even though on the one phone calls I received, I was told otherwise. In order to solve the problem, I had to trade the vehicle in at another dealership at a huge finical loss to get reliable transportation and they still haven't refunded the cost of the service which is downright petty. I would take your vehicle or buy your next car somewhere else since they don't care about their customers and they are flat out liars. read more

If I could go back, I never would have bought my (1st ever) brand new car here. After waiting months for the car, the day I drove off the lot- there was an obvious rattle. So I went back the next day to find out the hood wasn't completely tightened properly. So they fixed that. Well, I continued to hear a weird rattle coming from under the hood. So I had them look into it, more than once. Service team claimed they couldn't hear anything, even though I had my mechanic & his technician test drive it to see if they could fix and/or assist on where the issue could be coming from. They confirmed they hear the rattle & it's coming from somewhere under the hood. They highly recommended I take it back to the dealership for them to locate & resolve this, since after all I bought the car brand new. Well, I did that & the service team still claimed they cannot "replicate the issue." I guess I shouldn't of assumed a brand new car should not have this issue. I could understand this if I bought this car pre-owned/used. read more

After doing my research, I called and negotiated with the Internet sales group to get to what I thought was a reasonable price for a specific car that was expected to come in soon. Team was friendly, respectful, and efficient and the dealership is conveniently located off of the highway. Why 1 less star: I was presented with an optional add-on of $299 window tinting (2 windows) and $299 door edges over email prior to my visit. Seemed expensive, so I didn't agree to it. Other dealers had offered to throw it in for free. Next day, I go to see the car and both things had been added already and it shows up on the bill on top of the negotiated price. Managed to get it down to $100 for both. After I went home, I realized that the door edges (listed at $149 on the itemized paperwork that traditionally is posted on the car window) were already included in the total price of the car! I pointed this out, and I received an apology and offered $50 back. The problem was resolved, and it seemed like an honest mistake...still, it's good to stay on your toes! read more

I just left the dealership. Had some nails in my tire and firestone wanted 275. I called Subaru and the same tire was over 100. Cheaper. So I popped in this morning thinking we'd be there forever. I also had some recalls on my car I purchased there. They were so fast and friendly. I got oil change, recall and new tire. Guess what. It was free! The Service department hits it out of the park. I have come in angry a few time with workmanship issues caused by either the dealer or a vendor of the dealer. They never hesitated to repair it or even try to have me prove they were responsible. The just apologize and get the car fixed at no cost. I should have left when they lied to me saying their new cars come off the delivery trucks with $598.00 worth of window tent and more in addition to MSRP. You will notice this extra charge on a dealer sticker next to the manufacture's sticker. They also didn't disclose that my trade was eligble for the Subaru certified used trade in value offering me far less instead. Then I was told they were having difficulty communicating with Subaru Finance during normal business hours. Then they asked me for $1500.00 more money down than originally agreed on a credit card. The next day I get a call from Subaru Finance saying they are not able to contact the dealer during business hours and need info from me not provided by the dealer that I clearly remember writting on the application. I told the dealer that I only wanted Subaru financing and not to contact other banks, just one inquiry on my credit report, please. They pulled my report twice. I'm pretty certain that, in light of the fact Subaru Credit didn't receive my complete application, they probably went behind my back to a different bank. I talked to Subaru Finance and was told my credit score was too low for a lease, yet this dealer said they were confident I'd be approved. While I was there they tried to switch me to a car I didn't want, also. When I called the sales person about this, he feigned suprise saying he'd find out why the sales desk wasn't answering calls from Subaru Finance and get right back to me. He didn't. After all this, I wouldn't drive one of their cars on a bet. But I'll be getting one at Sewell in Dallas or thru my Credit Union late this year. I should have got up and asked for my car keys when they lied about new cars coming off the truck with dark dealer applied window tent. The dealer replied. But my review stands. They lied to me. They did want I told them not to do. They tried to rip me off!! read more
