My problem: I had just purchased a $140 Calvin Klein red sheath dress for Christmas doings in Arizona. It looked lovely on me! I wore it only twice. Then, a big grease splatter pockmarked the front on Christmas Eve... I couldn't even wear it on Christmas as planned. Without thinking, I dabbed a tinnnny bit of water and Dial soap on a washcloth and tried to wipe some of the grease away. It dried overnight and in the morning, I was met with a large water stain that had eclipsed the diminutive grease spots. I knew it was dry clean only, but I had no idea that this would happen! I was heartbroken.
I flew my damaged dress back to MA and brought it to Five Star Cleaners. The two older ladies at the shop complimented me on the dress, and said that they'd try their best to eliminate the water stain, as well as the grease spots. Nothing could be guaranteed, of course, because water stains are notoriously difficult. Because of the holidays, Five Star was a little backed up, but I was in no rush. I just wanted my dress to be "fixed."
Fast forward about a week later (I forgot to pick it up a few times), I dropped in again to retrieve it, about 5 minutes before closing time. I didn't have my receipt, but the gentleman was able to look up my information nevertheless. He hung my red dress up for my inspection and WOW! not a trace of grease or water stain to be seen! And here I was, imagining that I'd have to dye it purple, or buy another $140 dress to replace it. Obviously, I'm super excited that for less than $15 my damaged dress was returned to like-new condition.
I highly recommend Five Star Cleaners for dry-cleaning services, but they also do hemming, repairs, and more. They are honest and straight forward, and do not hesitate to convey their prognosis of your problem. If they can fix it, they will try. If it will be expensive, they let you know up front. I'm so very grateful that they were able to rescue my dress! read more
