** Patty Melt review** I'm not in the habit of reviewing chains, but because I do love and review patty melts, I'm making an exception. -- Patty Melt: It's apparently using the inside-out bun technique, where the curved side of the bun is on the inside, touching the burger. Or rather the cheese, of which there are two slices to a single patty. So that's the exact same ratio and same basic contents as their "Little Cheeseburger" (single patty), and not coincidentally, it's the same price. The difference is that they griddle the outside of the bun, adding more butter flavor (70 extra calories worth), but not to the point of crispness on my visit. I was expecting some griddled onions in there, since they're standard for a patty melt, but it wasn't meant to be-- just bun, patty and cheese. That cheese is extra gooey, like a grilled cheese sandwich, and seems to dominate the beef. Not bad by any means, especially for this type of place, but I'd hesitate to call it a patty melt. I'd be better off just going with the little burger or the full-size one. -- Fries: There were a LOT of fries in the bag, probably 30% more than what I'm used to at this place, though it's been a while. Good combination of crispy and bendy, and well salted to overpoweringly salted, depending on the fry. Potatoey, but a little less potatoey (and a little less impressive) than in the past. Still better than any fast food fry, and yes, better than McDonald's. This place isn't going to scratch my patty belt itch. There's still plenty to like here. The counter servers are friendly and exhibit more energy than your typical fast food worker. There's still free peanuts. And there's still the Coke soda machine with the near-infinite flavor combinations. The fries are arguably worth a trip in themselves. And there's the tried and true (if not exemplary) standard cheeseburger. read more

I have been to this place few times. Burgers are usually good. However, half the time orders come out wrong. I am not sure if people who make burgers don't know how to read or just disgruntled. Also, one time I saw a dude handling food after handling dollar bills without putting on new set of gloves. They need to train their employees, seriously. read more

Just visited five guys in Westford (I've been to this location many times). Usually I call in my order so I don't have to wait to get my food, today I simply walked in anticipating to wait while they prepared my food. The cashier was nice and I waited a reasonable time for my food (I was happy with the timing). The entire time I spent there I noticed Josh sweeping the floors and cleaning the glass doors/counters. The place was the cleanest I've ever seen it and it was nice to see how much genuine care and effort Josh put in to his job. I hope the manager recognizes the hard work Josh puts in! Very upset in the way an employee spoke to my family member tonight, if I had been there I would have put her RIGHT in her place! You wait nearly an hour for a burger and fries, you ask about your food, wait, and wait... You go up and ask politely where your food is, and a female employee looks at you and speaks to you like a piece of crap, totally unacceptable. Never again, they have lost our business! I call up, and the new Manager does not even have the Area Manager's info to give me, yet they have been the Manager there before? Says they were not the one who spoke to my daughter? Sounds very suspicious, sounds like someone is covering their ass, and I will now be on to head office to have them check the cameras and see who is to blame for their awful behavior. We all stopped by for lunch after snow tubing at Nashoba Valley Tubing Park a few miles away. I mainly come here for the free salted peanuts! At 1:45 PM there weren't many people in the restaurant and there were plenty of parking spaces. My go-to is their bacon cheeseburger (double) or little bacon cheeseburger (single) depending on how many miles I plan to run to burn off the grease. The thing about Five Guys is...it's consistent. The west coast and east coast locations taste the same. They have a generous selection of free toppings which include: Mayo, Lettuce, Pickles, Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Grilled Mushrooms, Ketchup, Mustard, Relish, Onions, Jalapeño Peppers, Green Peppers, Bar-B-Que Sauce, Hot Sauce, and A1 Sauce. I'm not sure why, but the cheese is always either cold or lukewarm. It feels like the put the cheese on seconds before removing the burger from the grill so it doesn't have time to really melt. Presentation wise, the burgers always look like they are quickly thrown together. The hamburger buns are cold and not toasted. It goes back to what I wrote earlier about how this is consistent. I know what I'm getting. The burgers are darn good though especially with the amount of bacon and mushrooms they put in their burgers. They offer two vegetarian options: a Veggie sandwich with or without cheese and a grilled cheese. The veggie sandwich is basically a combination of half their toppings. The grilled cheese is actually just a hamburger bun cooked upside down with cheese. Their regular and cajun fries are always a treat. Freshly fried and served hot. They have a nice crisp to them. I only wish they offered ranch dressing to go with the fries. They have two of those big electronic soda machine where you have 100+ combinations to choose from. Stopped in for dinner, the night of the storm on March 8, 2018, I was getting cabin fever. Initially had plans to eat at another establishment but half the block's power was out and five guys was there. Five guys was there like a back up plan you didn't want to do... First time at the Westford location, massive line, about a dozen people ahead of me. After I ordered, I asked a couple of people, "is this the normal business volume?" which all people replied a firm "NO". It was due to the power outage. It's not the first Five Guys meal I've had, this one, was probably one the lowest on the spectrum due to the increased volume. My cheese on the cheeseburger was still fridge cold when I bit into it. The bread was not toasty as usual. My cajun fries were soggy and under cooked. Not what I expect when I visit Five Guys. The staff did what they could with the volume they received that night. I would have preferred to wait longer for my food to be the usual Five Guys standard. read more

If, like me, you have been left unimpressed with the service and quality control at this location recently, I want to report I just had a really positive experience here with what I believe to be new management. Looks like they might have cleaned house staff-wise, and the operation seems to be noticeably smoother and improved from previous visits. (For example: last week we waited about 20 minutes for an online order while the staff messed around, including throwing food at each other and injuring one member of staff. And then our order was wrong.) So if you had a bad experience recently like it seems like a number of us did, I might recommend giving them another shot with the new regime. read more

Never had a bad experience in here except for the bathroom. I used to come here all the time while I was still in high school for casual nights out with my friends. From the milkshakes to the burgers, nothing has failed me. The staff are very friendly and since I love to overload my burgers with every topping imaginable, most places get a little annoyed whenever I start to order. However, this place has never been negative towards me. The burgers here are always juicy and cooked to perfection with the cheese oozing out from the sides. The vegetables have a fresh texture and the bun matches the burger as well. The only complain I have about the burger is the price and the sanitary state of the bathroom. I can get a cheeseburger plate with french fries next door at Market Basket for $2.99 and order another one with some money still left over. The bathroom can be clean but can also be unpleasant. I do not want to go in detail about that in my review here while you are trying to look for food so I will just let you know the conditions can be improved. I've been to this Five Guys a couple times and the service was far below other locations. The staff was generally rude, and ignored us when we got there. The condiment station was poorly stocked and not well kept. The floors were dirty. Most of the varieties of soda in the Coke freestyle machine were out. The trash cans were overflowing. The bathrooms were not well kept. It's a shame they can't to better here. Other locations in the area are fine. read more

Five guys is a chain so you generally know what to expect, however this location is the slowest of all I've been to and the burgers were thin and overcooked. Went here last night with my wife for a quick meal while waiting for my daughter to get out of cheer practice. The place was very clean & seemed to be well organized when it started to get busy. I ordered a loaded double bacon cheeseburger, a large drink and we split a large fries. My wife got a single and a small drink. Overall the food was fresh, hot and tasted very good. The fries I thought were outstanding....I like them a little more cooked...but that is my preference and not a shortcoming on 5 Guys behalf. Our order came to over $20 though....it just seems a little steep. Without a doubt I will be back here....love the "bin-o-peanuts". One point to consider.....you get free refills.....so there's no need to order the large drink. read more

Just opened today! I couldn't be more happier with this Five Guys location. It's near where I work, it's near where I live, it's accessible via 495 - the perfect middle-point between the Marlborough and Nashua locations. Located in the brand new Cornerstone Marketplace on RT 110, the restaurant itself has the familiar bright red and white decor with plenty of light from the windows and overhead lighting. There's only about 13 tables, so it's a little small compared to some locations. They also have the Coke Freestyle machines. The staff did a great job keeping up with the opening day crowd (about 40 people just after opening with a continuous line), and the food was right on par with my expectations. I got my usual "little" cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mayo, and grilled onions, along with an order of regular fries (which I couldn't even finish, but I'll enjoy them later!). This is a great location and I look forward to spending future lunch breaks here! read more

This Five guys establishment is absolutely atrocious. Growing up in PA, I've been used to the employees being upbeat, positive, and generally pleasant to deal with when ordering and conversing with. The owner needs to realize his manager and staff are horrible, have zero customer service, and drag their knuckles and just don't give a shit. Here's my story: I ordered a Bacon cheeseburger. And my family other items. Nobody wanted soda so I asked for just a cup of water because spring water wasn't necessary either. I proceeded to look at the digital soda dispenser and just couldn't find the tap water. Shame on me, this is on me. So I ended up just picking the closest thing to it. Flavored water for my 6 year old daughter. I didn't get anything at all for myself and the girlfriend because I didn't want to essentially get something we didn't pay for. My girlfriend then went and checked and found the regular water and got two for myself and her. Awesome. Then, I went to eat my burger and realized there's no bacon in it. Rather than having them re-make me an entire burger, I thought it would be the easiest solution for THEM to just refund me the difference. A dollar. So I approached the employee who was sweeping the INCREDIBLY dirty floors, and mentioned that my burger was missing bacon and in a very lethargic and uncaring response, he said "Go to the counter, not me". I tried to explain that I didn't really want another burger because it wasn't necessary and that maybe just a refund for the difference was satisfactory, and he responded with "AGAIN..THE COUNTER MANAGER WILL HELP YOU, NOT ME" Ok. Fine. Then as I went back to my seat briefly, I see him go to the back and talk to the manager, and point at us. Then I see the manager roll her eyes. You guys realize there's a WINDOW on that door, right? So after waiting in line again, I explain that I didn't want to create a hassle and thought the easiest solution for everybody is to just refund me the difference for the bacon I didn't receive because THEY SCREWED UP THE ORDER. So what does the MANAGER say? "Well you didn't exactly get water over there, but whatever I guess I'll give you, your refund" I tried to explain that it was my fault and spent time trying to find it. I didn't give a shit to try and "steal" a damn water for my SIX YEAR OLD. She didn't care to hear the explanation though. She threw the dollar at me and ran to the back not even looking at me as I tried to explain it. I guess I should have asked them to make me a new burger. I guess I should have also made it a point to mention that my daughter didn't even drink the flavored water, and was sharing my tap water with me. The orange flavored water sat at the table. I really hope the owner reads this review and evaluates the SHIT staff he has at this establishment because that was incredibly unacceptable for a customer to have to deal with. I wasn't planning to go to the Five Guys for dinner, but the delicious scent of hamburgers cooking lured me in from the parking lot. I was honestly prepared to be disappointed; For whatever reason, I don't typically enjoy eating hamburgers when I am dining out, and I expected Five Guys to be a glorified fast food restaurant (which it IS, essentially)... but I was honestly surprised at how much better this place was than I thought it would be. First of all, we had awesome service. The girl working the counter was super friendly and took the time to walk me through their ordering experience- so many options! Then, the food was so much better than fast food! The burger was FAT. and juicy. full of flavor and amazing. And the fries were hot & fresh & delicious. I still can't believe it. Attentive staff. My son has a corn allergy and cannot have iodized salt as it is very often cut with dextrose which is a corn derivative. We ask for no salt on his fries and use our own Pink Himalayan salt. He loves these fries, such a treat! So happy to have this local option for him with people who understand the seriousness of food allergies. read more

My wife and I visited 5 Guys Burgers & Fries in Westford yesterday May 18 (Wednesday) about 7:30 PM. The restaurant was almost empty (3 tables filled). I've never been in a 5 Guys Burger's place so I didn't have a clue as ot how they did things. I wish I did because I would NEVER have gone there on my own. The person on the counter/cash register inquired what I wanted. I told him a "single cheese burger with bacon" with toppings cooked MEDIUM RARE. Then I found out that ALL BURGERS ARE COOKED WELL DONE. I asked "why"? He said that 5 Guys wanted to protect their customers from food born diseases. I told him that steak houses and any number of burger places cooked their burgers rare, medium rare or medium without burning it completely like they do in Texas. The guy at the cash register said that was the only choice. So I ordered the bacon cheeseburger for my wife with toppings and a regular cheese burger for myself. We also ordered a small french fries. We went to our table (which didn't sit firmly on the floor - so we moved and reported the table problem to the staff. They tired to fix it without results. Then I was told that the burgers were ready. My wife went over to pick them up. We asked which one was ours. I was told the one without a number on it was the first burger I ordered - and the one with the number 2 on it was the second. Thank God for the "secret code" - now I figured out which burger was for my wife and which for myself. We each opened the aluminum foil covered burger and looked at what we got. The burger was DEFINITELY OVERCOOKED. The toppings were all there - on top of a piece of hamburger meet that was dry as leather. It was inedible. My wife threw hers away and I did the same. I mentioned the problems to what I thought was the manager who didn't say/do a thing. I expect he gets so many complaints that he has given up "trying" to get people to understand "FIVE GUYS" corporation message/cooking process. We left. Before we did I asked the manager if he'd place check out the health codes on cooking beef. Cooking a hamburger or a steak rare, medium rare is NOT against the law!!!! We will NEVER RETURN TO FIVE GUYS BURGERS. The food was terrible and not worth the $20 we paid for 2 cheeseburgers, 1 small french fries and two sodas. God help the American Public who tries this and has the experience we had. TO FIVE GUYS: Fix what's wrong here - tell people the truth - that you cook your hamburgers WELL because you don't want to take any chance of a health issue - NOT BECAUSE IT'S AGAINST THE LAW TO COOK MEAT RARE, MEDIUM RARE, ETC. This place is pretty meh... Same as the five guys in California that i've been to... Fries need improvement for sure. I tried the cajun spiced fries to see if they were better than the normal (mediocre) five guys fries and the spice didn't really help. They need to make In-n-Out style fries. They're so simple, I don't know why more places don't make fries like In-N-Out. This is a five guys corporate issue though, and not a problem w this location. They always hook it up w a ton of fries... but quality over quantity. The burgers here are good and are a bit tastier when u get like bacon or grilled onions... I don't think the burger really stands out that much compared to other burgers tho, so I wouldn't typically go out of my way for a five guys burger. I think the best thing about five guys is the futuristic vending machines they have. read more

Great stuff here. Easy to get in and out. Good food, made to order. It's delicious and the staff is friendly. Management does a great job because people seem generally happy.
