Call me a huge 5 guys fan. Great variety of burgers and toppings, and everything is cooked and seasoned quite well. I stick with the "Lil" offerings because I'm trying to stave off a heart attack for just a little bit longer than normal. Burger and fries here are as good as it gets. So Cal native here, and given the choice, I would probably go to Five guys 5 times out of 6 over In-N-Out. The sacrilege is real. Only complaint about this joint is the location, and the homeless people who camp out inside, weezing the free peanuts and hustling customers for money. This restaurant is the antithesis of stylish. Red and white checkered walls, bags of potatos, signs boasting about being best fries some year in some town, and crayon drawings on scratch paper adorn this brand new restaurant in Ballard. My husband and I were both very disappointed that they don't have milk shakes. The cashier was really friendly and helpful with ordering as it was maybe my second time ever at five guys. The fry serving sizes are huge which would normally make me happy, but because the fries were really greasy and not crunchy, I wasn't all that thrilled. They're fried to a texture that's not crunchy or soft. So odd. The burger was flavorful with all the fixings. Love the grilled onion and mushrooms and jalapeños. They have free peanuts! If you like snacking on them. I was tempted to take a bagful of the home to make homemade peanut butter. Not the healthiest meal, but who said it was healthy. Ingredients are pretty fresh & the bun is pretty crispy. Their fries are good but lack flavor, so I recommend piling on the catsup. Small tip: a small fries could feed 2 people. (You've been warned). The burgers here are good and the staff is nice. As I waited for my order yesterday an employee was rung up for his break meal and I was surprised to see his meal was $14. I asked the manager if employees pay full price for their food and the manager said yes, that's the policy. Really???? Five Guys policy is to make profit off their hard working employees??? Sorry Five Guys but you can do better to show your appreciation for your service employees who are risking their health to please your customers. Their burgers are OK, not at all on par with the hype, but that is OK. The fries were just meh, very over hyped. The service is fine, nothing special on that front, but also rather low expectations for service at this sort of place. I would have rated 3-stars but the floor was almost deadly slick with grease, which implies they have not been cleaning very well, and there was a fair number of unsavory people lurking about inside the back of the restaurant that the staff did not seem like they had any intention of kicking out despite clearly not being there as customers. All in all, Ballard Brothers Burgers is 1 block away, and beats this place in all categories, I wont be back to Five Guys again. read more

Review from a person with celiac disease - I have been to this location a few times and it is by far the most courteous and careful of all of the Five Guys I've ever been to in terms of food safety. When I mention my issue to them, they always immediately change their gloves and take as many precautions with my meal as they can. The cashier alerts the kitchen so everyone knows there is an allergy meal being made. As a result, I always feel safe and happy eating their food, and I have never been sick from here. Aside from that, the people who work here are just nice, hard-working people... by far some of the most courteous restaurant staff I have ever met. I am excited to share that Ballard's new Five Guys Burgers & Fries is now open! It is located at 15th Ave SW and SW Market Street in the massive Urbana Apartment Building next to Bartell Drugs. I am pleased because I no longer have to venture up to Northgate Mall when I get the craving for a brown bag stuffed to the rim with Idaho potato french fries or a massive burger. They offer all the same features as other Five Guys, including the soda fountain with unlimited options and mixes. Not to mention, the burgers are just as delicious. Staff is of course getting with the flow and new, but very friendly and enthusiastic. I will definitely be back. read more

My husband and I always go to this location when we are too lazy to cook for ourselves or we just really want a decent burger. I have a weird diet (no dairy, no carbs, no sugar) so coming here is actually really easy. The menu is straight forward, easy to read, and if you will be taking extra time figuring out your order they have smaller menus on the counter with all the extras you can get so you can wait in back without holding up the line. I always get a bacon burger lettuce wrap, it's iceberg lettuce which isn't awesome but I'm not picky, with mustard, pickles, and hot sauce and a fountain drink. If I'm treating myself I'll get whatever diet soda I feel that day, otherwise sparkling water or flavored water. There are a ton of options for sodas if you like them. We snack on some peanuts while we wait, which really isn't long, and usually eat there. They wrap everything up in a to-go style brown bag but always double wrap my burger lettuce wrap cause ya know, lettuce doesn't soak up things like grease or hot sauce, so it's convenient to have some extra foil around. I enjoy the food here, and the employees always seem pretty chipper and on top of things. Will continue coming back! read more

Visited there yesterday. It was my first Five Guys experience. I was not expected much but I still got disappointed... I am an occasional burger eater, so I don't know lots of other burger place to compare with. The most disappointed part about FG was dine experience/presentation aspects. Because, I don't like fountain beverages so we ordered for to-go but it was really does not matter if you dine-in or to-go because they pack literary everything in to-go style. If I were to dine-in, I would not want to eat out from a brown paper bag with greasy oil stains everywhere. I ordered a small cheese burger and French fries. The burger tasted good (although buns was soggy) but it was nothing special. French fries were too soggy... I ordered medium size but should have ordered small size... With the price you end up paying, I would rather go to Red Mill Burger. The Red Mill Burger offers much better dining experience with better presentation. I can't see me going back to FG. The bottom line is, just keep driving 15th Ave to Crown Hill, you can get same quality burger and fries from Dick's for 1/2 the price. read more

Five Guys is my go-to place to satisfy primal cravings for meat- I always felt like chain places don't get credit even if they're pretty good. This location always has wonderful customer service and I've never had a bad burger out of the several times I've been. Also, giving free peanuts to customers is a genius move. If you're a boa constrictor like me--and have one large meal a day and usually not longer after an intense 3-hour gym workout--and want a burger and fries to devour alone, either you order two Dick's deluxe hamburgers and three orders of fries. Or you come here, I guess. The regular hamburger ($6.89), with "all the way" condiments, was, at best, unremarkable: two small patties, with a mediocre un-grilled white-bread bun, all wrapped in foil. The foil makes the hamburger moist and soggy. At almost $14, without a drink, the above meal order seemed expensive, especially compared to what you could get at, for instance, a Burgermeister in San Francisco. Skip this place, Red Mill burgers are a much better deal and well worth driving an extra 15 minutes to avoid the nausea. Even Five Guys in the Regal Cinema in Northgate is better and less expensive. Just under $28 for two burgers dripping grease with soggy too-small buns and one medium fry to share- no drinks or upgrades. When trapped in the corral of potato bags, it is impossible to see the menu so when you get up to the counter you are kind of left there trying to quickly decide what you want. There are a lot of choices and things sound great, but when I got my food I was pretty disappointed. My burger was really greasy and compared to the quality I have received at other places, this restaurant was more on par with Dairy Queen or Whataburger... except the fries are better at those places. Our fries were awful. Soggy, tasteless... and the cup is just pushed into the bag even though you are eating in the store so they just all fall out and you have to pick them out. Burgers and fries are cooked to order. Fries being fresh every time is a combination of 1. total requirement and 2. hard to come by. The fact that #2 is a thing is really just stinky, but also makes for uber happiness relatively when you find the freshies. The burger is juicy and tasty. The veggies are fresh and crispy. This is probably the worst experience I have had from a store manager. The store manager here was very cocky and arrogant when confronted with a paying customer question. I myself manage six stores and when you have a customer coming in and wants to take care of his crew and asks for a discount I would politely say yes or no. Not a snappy "NO" and give an attitude because they asked. I told him that my humble opinion if any of my managers or crew did what he just did there would be some kind of corrective action taken. To be quite honest the gentleman at the front counter that states he's only been there three days did better than him. The food is great!!! The overall atmosphere is good. But the manager has a chip on his shoulder when confronted with things that can make himself and his store better. Ugh, all the hype and for what. Overpriced burger. Decent, but not great. $5 for a "small" burger. Their regular burger is 2 patties just fyi, aka in'n'out's double-double size at $6.50 or something like that. Their fries are not crispy at all. Bun totally gets soggy. The only kind of cool thing is you can add as many free toppings as you want- grilled mushrooms, grilled onions (not grilled very much), lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, ketchup, jalapeno peppers (not spicy at all), bbq sauce...etc. But, it doesn't matter because they barely put any of those toppings in the burger anyway, so not much of a freebee anyway. Also, free peanuts- whoop. At the end of the day, I rather have In' n' out for $3 cheaper and better. Parking in the plaza. Next to Bartell's and Walgreens. Pretty convenient though. read more

I'm from LA and I understand how hectic and stressful finding parking can be but here it was easy as 1, 2, 3. Customer service was great. My meal was great. Best burger chain and best fries ever.
