He called me by name which was a nice touch, but he was very accommodating with my large order getting me a box and making sure I had enough condiments. Had to find a new burger joint now that Cheeburger Cheeburger is gone in Rochester. I'll be continuing the search. Only one kind of cheese, American, which is not really cheese so I got a regular burger. I asked for jalapenos, mushrooms and mayo. Received 4 slivers of jalapenos, a tablespoon of mushroom slivers and half a jar of mayo. There were enough french fries in the regular order of fries to have averted the Irish potato famine. If you want a juicy, fresh burger with hand-cut fries, Five Guys is the place! Yes, it's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. I paid more at Bill Gray's down the street, and the meal was not even half as good as Five Guys. The decor is red and white, and red and white. It's definitely a place where you eat a greasy burger and fries, nothing more. If you want a classy meal, go somewhere else. There are also free peanuts for customers, so if you have a peanut allergy, stay far, far away from this place! I usually get a single burger with almost everything on it, and it's just the right amount for me. It leaves room for an enormous serving of fresh-cut fries. My boyfriend always gets a double cheeseburger with everything, and he's never left unsatisfied. Together, we share the larger portion of fries. Its confession time. I admit: If I go about more than two weeks with out Five Guys I start getting mean, cranky, and belligerent. Consistency-- food is always hot, service is always speedy considering menus are made to order. I have never had an order messed up. 2. Value. Several people are complaining about price. Really? Have you been to Bill Grays (still love you), Vic and Irvs, or EVEN WENDY'S lately? A burger, fries and drink are going to set you back about $10 wherever you go. I will say, I normally get the junior size cheeseburger which is cheaper. But the regular is two patties, that is too much. Also the fries can easily be split by two people. You can get a ton of toppings that are not additional, including grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. I don't know any other place around here where you can get those for no extra charge. 3. No up-sell. There are some other nearby restaurants that you can get a burger at but they will try to sell you a $4 strawberry lemonade, try to get you to sign up for some kind of reward card, guilt you into giving a tip for real crappy service, etc. Not here. You tell them what you want, they give it to you and with a.... 4. Smile! Speaking specifically about the Henrietta location, I have to say this is one of the only places I have ever been where the staff is CONSISTENTLY polite. Five Guys is an expensive burger joint until you realize that 1) A single-patty burger ("little burger") is plenty big enough for an average adult, and 2) A small order of fries is enough to split between two average adults. Order like this and the prices are very reasonable. Everything is served in a paper bag that gets grease spots from the fries that they seem to deliberately dump into it on top of your foil-wrapped burgers or dogs. I think it's their signature, a grease-spotted brown paper bag. The burger was very, very good. The hot dog was Kosher-style and very tasty. The fries (we got two small orders, one regular and one Cajun) were EXCELLENT. All things considered, I'd order the regular next time, the Cajun weren't spicy (or memorable) enough. It's a noisy place, the food takes a few minutes longer than fast-food places, and they have free peanuts for you to munch on in the meantime. If you like top-quality burgers, go. This was me third time here, it is very consistent. Consistently good. I am more of a dog than burger person, so I can not comment on the burgers. The dogs are all beef kosher style. Which is different from most restaurants around I always feel that they taste fattier, but that is the style. The fries are why I come. Food is typical for a Five Guys. Service was slow and the staff in the kitchen were obnoxious making strange and loud noises and yelling the call numbers. The loud music was awful! I have been here several times. Today I found the burger patties less charred - and more to my liking. The fries were also good - unlike the burned, over fried (or re-fried) condition they were prepared in the 3 or 4 prior visits. So, food was not bad. The cleanliness of the store, however, was seriously lacking. My shoes were sticking to the floor in front of the cash register. The bathroom door is greasy to the touch and stained like it hasn't been washed since opening day. Inside, disgusting. The tables and chairs have seen cleaner days. The staff member who cleaned the table next to me may as well have stayed at home today. The table, chairs, and floor around them were as dirty when he left as when he arrived. If you want a safe burger chain that's always quality anywhere in the US, you have two choices: In'N'Out or Five Guys. I prefer In'N'Out; but don't let that deter you. It's done up like an old-diner in most places, the chairs are passable, the burger comes in a bag, and it belongs in your face. Their lettuce wraps are a bit lazy, but certainly edible. Fries are the highlight for some people, but I personally dislike them. Too meaty(but not quite steak fries), and whatever grease they're using just doesn't appeal. My husband and I -LOVE- Five Guys...seriously. We don't have one in our town, so we really look forward to getting our fix when we come across one. This has taught us that not all Five Guys are created equal, and unfortunately this one is near the bottom of our list. On the positive side, the facility was clean and the staff were friendly. However, we felt cheated on the food. We're used to overflowing bags of fries and huge burgers, but that's not what we received. When we walked in the people working there including the owner himself greeted us right away. This place is a good place for a burger because you get to order the size burger you want and anything you want on it. They give you tons of fries to go with your burger too. the fries are homemade so they taste even better, especially when you get them Cajun style. It doesn't usually take long to get your food but if your hungry you can have free peanuts while you wait. Their fountain drinks are like most other places except they have the always good Mr. Pibb to drink which in NY is so rare. If you want a burger , but don't want to deal with the greasy fast food and don't want to sit for a while at a restaurant this is the perfect place with really good food. I first vivited five guys in the DC area in 2003. Even then it was just average. Foster's grille in Manassas was waaaay better. For the Rochester market Five Guys is a change from the standard area burger. No garbage plate here. The burgers are tasty but wraped or should I say smooshed in a foil wraper and put in a brown paper bag with a styrafoam cup full of frys. Five guys is good for a quick dinner/lunch as you are on the way to the bar. The interior is messy and looks like a reclaimed cafateria.
