It is NOT in-and-out, that is for sure! Being a borderline vegetarian, I like to have my grill cheese to taste like a burger, all the fixin's, without tasting like cheesy bread. Sick right? You'd think a veggie would want the veggies? NO! I want meat flavor no meat! :) When in Rome, I did order a burger (bad!), but this place does offer veggie patties too, which I probably should have tried. The burger wasn't tasty, and if I am going to eat meat, I want it to be flavorful. Flavor, I need it! It was bland and god awfully big, drippy, and messy. Having had several friends recommend this place I walked in after downing a beer in the parking lot with high expectations. I have heard that it is the best fast food burger and beats the hell out of in-n-out. Since I am not much of an in-n-out fan unless I am scoring half off I wanted to see for myself what the fuss is all about. The young lady at the counter with a big smile asked if it was our first time. She then explained how their program works. I was also impressed that she said that the regular fries are good for two and the large are plenty for four. In reality I think you can stretch that a little bit further the serving of fries are very generous. She told us that we don't have combos here... which I appreciate... In-n-out has combos but it is just to simplify the order since the a la carte price is the same. The first thing I noticed on the front door was peanut warning sign, which I didn't figure out till we sat down and notice the boxes of peanuts that you can help yourself to. I can only see this outfit doing this in nicer places; I can only image the shrinkage of peanuts in the ghetto. I envision the dregs of society coming in getting a hand full of peanuts and leaving. I ordered the little cheeseburger with mayo, mustard, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and extra jalapenos. (The jalapenos were a very nice surprise I was expecting the crap from a can, but they were fresh peppers) The burger was great with the massive amount of toppings, a few peanuts and my share of the fries (the regular gave the 3 of us plenty) I felt that the meal was well worth the price and I left a happy camper. Had to drive to this location from San Bernardino since San Bernardino location doesnt offer milkshakes. First walked in the staff was really friendly. I ordered a little bacon cheeseburger, the new cajun fries, and a milkshake. The cajun fries were a tad spicy. I tamed it down with ketchup and it was fine. My burger was good like always but my milkshake... I did not know I could mix flavors! The worker told me I could. So I mixed Salted Caramel with Bacon milkshake.. OMG it sounds weird but it was good. The worker said he mixes Oreo and peanut butter... so just a heads up MIX YOUR SHAKES!!! Oh I was so excited! You purchase a meal and you can put whatever you want on the burger! Big and juicy burgers! Almost better than in and out! I had grilled mushrooms on mine. This was a great place and we enjoyed eating here. The service was fast and friendly and the burgers were outstanding. Very clean inside and that must take a lot of work on their part with as busy as this place was. It still goes to show that busy usually translates into great food and service. The only downside we could see was the parking issue. Several businesses and eateries come together in this corner of the lot so parking can be a bit of a problem. The burgers were OK, but lacking in flavor, IMO. The "Free Toppings" were not inspiring (no avocado!). The fries were very fresh, but had almost no salt - like eating a baked potato. Thankfully, Five Guys, from wherever they originate in the U.S.A., has stepped in to fill a void. The chief specialty of Five Guys isn't their grilled beef and cheese menu - which is quite good. The central virtue of the Five Guys experience is that they have knocked social networking out of the park. I don't wait in line to order or pick up. I order online precisely what I want and pay in advance. Ten to fifteen minutes later I can bypass all crowds and pick up my order from a friendly - if rushed - pick-up counter. Head to the beautiful outdoor corner garden location for the very best view of crosstown suburban traffic and enjoy your lunch. I like the cheeseburger 'all the way' and the standard fries. I'm from DC and I remember the original Five Guys. It was a thing of beauty. This particular Redlands location stinks...or maybe it's just that the whole place changed over time. We were ripped of a patty on our regular cheeseburgers. (This also happened to our friends.) So, two "single" cheeseburgers and a soda cost around $14 and it was skimpy. The cooks are doing something shifty. In -n-Out is also a bit overrated (Sorry Californians) but, I can at least get behind the value and product more than Five Guys. Once the novelty wares off, unless they do something to get back to their original idea, will fail in the long term. I still say if you are in Redlands, EUREKA BURGER steals the show. Things I like about Five Guys... -Decent burgers with all the toppings you like -The free peanuts are kinda cool - I actually really like their fries (although many reviews say they're too greasy) - Love the "make your own flavor" Coke dispenser (which other restaurants are starting to do - Very warm and friendly employees that want to make you happy - Nice store Things I don't like.... - While their burgers are decent, there's nothing special about them at all, they don't even have much if any seasoning. They don't stand out. You can essentially get a very similar, yet better tasting burger at Wendy's for less $$ - Way over priced!! (good food, but not at all worth $10 to $12 per person by the time you get fries and a drink) That's about it. I don't think I'll eat there much simply because I think In n Out Burger has a much better value for what you get, and their burgers are just so much tastier. Five Guys has bigger beef patties than In n Out, but that's easily solvable by ordering a 3x3 if you want more meat, and it still comes out cheaper than 5 guys. Staff is not the best. Burger is not that great it's good but not better than in n out. Very clean inside!! If this is advertised as the best burger found on the East Coast, I feel sorry for them. West Coast best coast right?! I've been to two different Five Guys burgers, and they never really impressed me too much. The first time I went was the second day they opened, so I figured that maybe everyone was still in training and I decided to give them a chance. But the second time wasn't really any better, aside from the wait. My burger wasn't cold, but it wasn't piping hot fresh either. You can put any extras that they list on the menu for pretty much no extra charge, but then again I wonder sometimes if it's worth it. From what I could see in the open kitchen, many of the ingredients were pre-cooked and then just waiting to go into a burger assembly line. Cajun fries being the best? I'm sorry, but they're much too thick, dry, and overseasoned. I'd love to love this place, but twice this place has disappointed me. On that note however, it seems as if the workers do enjoy their jobs, and they really do try. Props on that. I just think the whole franchise needs to change their cooking methods or recipe. read more

I've only been here once but have been to other Five Guys locations. I used their website to order my food to skip the line and waiting around. You also have to pay online when you order. You can order for a specific pick up time, but they only allow for pick up during 15 minute intervals. You just go straight to the pick-up counter. As for the burgers, the meat is flavorful, I like choosing your toppings from their massive list, but the bun falls apart too easily. They need to change their bun. The fries are also delicious and they give a generous amount. The mini has only 1 patty and their regular burger has two patties. The food is pricey though for a fast food burger. After countless opinions of the East Coast's answer to In-N-Out, I gave Five Guys a try this past weekend to see if it held up to it's reputation. Not bad, but not In-N-Out! The service was decent. We were warmly greeted and given a quick rundown of how one orders their burgers at Five Guys. I don't get why they prepare all food in a to-go fashion. They had plenty of tables to sit at, so they clearly have a dine-in friendly environment. It would probably save paper bags and cost if they had the reusable trays that one gets at most popular fast food joints. The burgers were interesting - definitely like the extra veggies, but it takes away from the actual burger meat and that's what I like most. The presentation could have used a little work. Some burgers came out with melted cheese, others looked like it was an afterthought, and not carefully melted. Taste-wise, I still prefer In-N-Out's simplicity and freshness. Decor - IMHO. could use some work. A little too much self-promotion scattered throughout the walls. I liked the modern soda fountain! This 5 Guys is lucky enough to situated next to a really spacious courtyard with an awesome ountain, so the dining options from well lit indoors or outside when the weather is nice is a cool luxury. The burgers here are huge, I always get the "baby" burger which means only 1 patty. There are tons of toppings to choose from and they are all included in the price, so you definitely get your moneys worth as well as options to make your own creation. I always add jalepenos. One of the ways they have made it fun to get your soda is to offer a touch screen soda fountain that adds different flavorings to all your favorite Coke products. Just checking out the combinations is another way to customize your experience. This location is always clean (with peanuts avaliable, thier signature that I never could figure out how it fit....) The employees were ready to help us immediatly but were also patient with us. I strongly recommend getting the Cajun fries, they come with seasoned salt and I can't get enough of them. This place is decent. You get a burger pretty much any way you like it, including the amount of meat. With that said, I don't appreciate how they completely ripped off In-N-Out's decor. Needless to say I wasn't as impressed as I would have hoped, but there's the good and the bad: The place does get crazy packed but at least they have free peanuts while you wait. I'm not normally a burger person, yea I know, I am really weird. But I always determined how well a burger was on how much of the burger I actually finished and I actually got through 3/4ths of this one! It was juicy and delicious and what's really cool is that the toppings are free. My boyfriend described this place as the "chipotle of burgers" where you pick what type of burgers you want and they make it according to how you want it! We ordered Cajun fries and they were alright. In my opinion they had way too much seasoning and were extremely salty!
