I didn't eat at this location but the one in Temecula. I have to say after reading all the great reviews on this joint, I really was excited to try it but was not pleased. The food was just so so, it really seemed like a copy cat of In & Out Burger. The hamburger was not very tasty. Yes all the toppings are free, you have the option of the usual ketchup,mayo, pickles, but also grilled onions, mushrooms,jalapenos or bbq sauce with no limit. But it cost me $9 bucks for the Little Cheeseburger, small fries (I chose the Cajun) and a regular size drink(free refills). I don't know about you but that's pretty steep for a hamburger smaller than a Whopper.The fries were pretty good, you can get yours regular or Cajun style The ambiance was just ok, music good but way too loud. The workers yell out the orders which makes it chaotic and those darn peanut shells all over the place. When you get in line you have the option of filling a cup with shelled peanuts to eat, nice touch but kinda tasteless. If you like In & Out burger, I don't think you'll like this place very much. Before five guys opened all I could hear from my east coast friends was "five guys is way better than in and out." Completely not true. First thing, It was more expensive than I expected burger fries and a drink was about $10 which is a few dollars more than in and out. Second, my fries were limp, undercooked, and under-seasoned. Third the burger... If you are going to be known for how good your burgers are make sure they can stay together! (one of my pet peeves) Before I even got the thing unwrapped the bottom bun was completely soggy and falling apart which in-turn caused the whole burger to collapse. So I scrapped together what was left and tried to eat it as best I could. The burger, despite its structural defects, was very good. At five guys the meat is the main attraction. Unlike in and out where that meat is more of part of a well balanced burger. At five guys the meat was the star and it shines very well. Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. However, it still was not bright enough to cover up for a messy burger and soggy fries. I will give them another shot seeing that they are new and haven't hit their stride yet. But as it stands right now In and Out will continue its burger dominance in Southern California. read more

Food is good but the price is way to high. I noticed my number got skipped and they kept yelling for a previous number. Finally somebody went and told him he was that number and he had his order. My number was then called and you guessed correctly food was not hot. read more

I believe there is no need to compare it to in and out I don't know how that got started one is fast food and greasy and the other is cooked in a clean kitchen and efficient there r no need for combo just because we are in ca a lot of food places don't offer combo and really if u think about it those combos save u what .50 and the hat doesn't have true combos either and no one complained about their two registers and their food is expensive. I like this place added all the fresh veggies and the fries are much larger and fresh not all thin if we want to compare to in and out with their thin cut but also fresh and if u want that coveted sauce just mix mayo ketchup and relish and add a slice of cheese on top which u can mix at five guys too if u want they have a lot of business families enjoy it there I liked that the atmosphere the nice seats and covered seating I just truly liked it because it was a non greasy burger that wasn't soaking the wrapper but when I do feel like indulging I'll go to the hat or tommys or rudy's in Newport for good food read more

Upon Five Guys' arrival to this Orange location, many compared them to In-N-Out. The only thing similar are the colors, they make burgers to order, and they use real potatoes for fries. My hamburger (which comes with 2 meat patties and whatever toppings you want) was a large one. A little more than I want for a burger, but can be perfect for others. I didn't get any french fries because: a.) it would've made my meal a little more expensive than I wanted to spend, and b.) I had heard how big their burgers were, so I knew I wouldn't need all that. But I have heard their fries are really good. There's a lot of signage in the restaurant showing critic's rave reviews of their food, so they're pretty proud of that. They do not have a drive-thru, but this is the only location I've been to, so I'm not sure if any locations have one. The burger was backyard BBQ good. They don't have shakes which sucks because shakes go with burgers and fries. I'll definitely go back and try the fries and maybe something else. read more

Wanted something I could compare with to Inn-n-Out since that's what everyone compares it to...so I ordered The Little Hamburger with onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and ketchup. For the last 6 months I have been hearing raves about this place. Comparing it to a Counter version of IN and Out. Well thats partially how i felt after i got my burger where is the nearest In and Out .I finally got to try it out the other night. I ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, onions, grilled onions, canned mushrooms, tomatoes, pickles, mayo, hot sauce and jalapenos and a large fry with cajon seasoning on the side. Fries were no doubt delicious but i came for a burger. Prices were average 5 dollars for a double cheese burger. The plus side is free all you can eat peanuts and the unlimited toppings which might actually kill your experience sometimes too much is no good. read more

i finally got to try out this place tonight after seeing it featured on a news report on "best burgers" in town. the patties are very thick and the fixings are fresh. the fries are very good too. thick cut and seasoned with garlic salt. they even give out free complementary shelled peanuts to munch on too. a little pricer than your average burger joint but you get what you pay for. i would go back to this place. read more

Finally went to this place a few weeks back after all the rave from people about how good it is, and how it's better than in n' out. The place was packed, and it definitely smelled good. The anticipation was killing me. I could see plenty of people eating their burgers, all seemed to be normal sized, and nothing too special. I did like the peanuts that they have for you to eat while you wait. * ALL PEOPLE WITH PEANUT ALLERGIES SHOULD STAY AWAY, WAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!* I'm sure just breathing the air could cause a reaction. Any how, I did like the amount of choices for add ons to my burger they had, and all at no extra cost. Finally I got my burger. Nicely wrapped. I will admit it was good. Fresh, and hot! Better than in n out? Well no, but not worse either. I think they are just different. The buns are not toasted like in n out, so they tend to absorb the moisture from the meat and veggies, so half way through they start to fall apart, minus one star. Over all, they have good burgers! The frys on the other hand were great. Cut similarly to in n out, but larger and with the skin left on. The fact that it is a large amount of frys as well gives them a one up on any regular frys I have had. Good job! I will be back. Not leaving my old in n out as I am indeed a faithful customer, but in n out will have to share my time from now on. read more

Ok, lets get to it. I was a little disappointed at first seeing the big griddle (was hoping they would be charbroiled) but after the first bite, I didn't care. I got a big bacon burger with lettuce, mayo, mustard, ketchup and A-1 sauce. Seriously, where else can you get A-1 on your burger?!?! I also ordered a regular fry and received a bag that was about 1/3 full of fries...seriously, a good 2 1/2 lbs worth of potato. Honestly, after the first bite, I was hooked. Yes, it is a little pricier than In-N-Out but let's face it - Kohls is more expensive than Wal-Mart for a reason. Definitely worth the extra $1-$2. You get peanuts while you wait, (yes, that means there will probably be peanut shells on the floor...please don't cry and call it "dirty") they actually hand-form ground beef into patties and there is a sign on the wall telling you the state and the name of the farm that grew the potatoes that you will soon be consuming. While they won't replace In-N-Out, they will definitely give them a run for their money. ALSO: Not sure about iPhone, but there is an android app that will let you place your order in advance and give you a precise pick-up time so your food is hot and fresh. read more

I had what Obama had. You know what I am talking about!!! For five bones you can get yourself a double burger. While you what you can grab some peanuts to munch on. Unlike Obama I did not opt for mustard onions and ketchup. I got hot sauce which I highly recommend along with grilled mushrooms. I also got cheese, lettuce, mayo and pickle. The burger itself was not a pretty sight when I opened it up. But the meat was real good and the cheese which which was oozing did not give it a restaurant look. The bun did look soggy. The first bite will not grab you right away but the consistency wore on as I ate. Respect was won as the game dragged on. The hot sauce was perfect as I took lil' bites and the taste of the mushroom gave it character. I got jalapenos but they were of the fresh not pickled variety so they got tossed. I was very impressed with the cajun fries. I would not drive out to the OC to get these burgers. They are not that good but if a buddy wanted to try it out I would not hesitate to come back and try a different concotion. read more

I been to Five Guys in Cerritos multiple times...this time took my family to this one close to home...Wow...burger tasted fresh and amazing french fries Cajun style. The food is so so and the noise in this place can wake the dead. They play music loud and then yell to each other to communicate. I can't stand it so I will not go back it's ridiculous. I have been to other 5 Guys restaurants and it was not this way. They consistently leave items off the burger and I really don't think they care. Very friendly welcome by the cook. Best burger I have had outside of cooking one at home. Beats In N Out to me. Supposed to have best fries in O.C. I thought they were fine, that's all. Loved the Malt Vinegar available for the fries. Interior just basic wood tables and chairs. Loud rock music playing. If I go again, I'll get the burger to go and eat it at home. Okay, here's the scoop...marry Five Guys fries with In 'N Out burgers and you have the ultimate combo!! First time trying this yesterday, good burger but not as juicy or tasteful as In 'N Out but their fries (Five Guys) are much better. In fact, I think the fries are the best out there. If both places were side-by-side, I'd go to In 'N Out every time but having said that, it a good cheap burger and you should try it. read more

So I have been to Five Guys a few times in the last month. The first time I have actually heard about this place was visiting family out in Baltimore not too long ago . They claimed that Five Guys Burgers was their version of In & Out. I was leary at first because to me In & Out is THE place to get a Hamburger. I do have to admit that while looking at inside I did notice how similar to was it was to In & Out; but the real test was in the food. I can honestly say that the food here is good, but not the same as In & Out. Don't get me wrong - both places are great; but each has a unique variance to the way you can make your burger. I was surprised to see the different topping options: Grilled Mushrooms, BBQ Sauce, and Bacon!?? Yes Bacon. Sorry In & Out you never gave me these options. All in all Five Guys offers a good burger. Don't come here if you expect to match the same style as In & Out for you may be disappointed; but you will love this place once you master the perfect combination of toppings. ALSO - if you have never had Cajun fries before you HAVE to try them. Be prepared they are delicious and they give you plenty to share with others; usually over-piled in the bag. read more

The workers here try to pretend we're in New York by shouting orders like it's a damn auction house, they have a very cocky attitude towards the guests, it's not at all a welcoming atmosphere, hardly anyone was there to dine. Save Your Money & Time !! I heard great reviews about this place went in saw all the Zagat ratings & press all over the walls and got even more excited. Family of four two adults, two kids: 2 regular burgers, 2 kid burgers, 2 lg. fries, and 4 cokes $40.13. OK so it was way overpriced I was thinking the food was going to be great (looking at the walls again) Sat inside music was so loud we couldnt talk, went outside everytable was dirty had to clean our own. Got the food immediately opening the wrapper the bun is falling apart and topings spilling all over. The buns were like store brand buns, burgers tasted like church carnival burgers, nothing great, nothing exciting. I had no problems with the fries and they gave you plenty of those. My first dining experience at Five Guys. First of all don't wad my burger up in a piece of aluminum foil. The bun, with the condiments had already on it, set on the counter waiting for the burger for about 5 mins. After that, being wadded in foil the burger was a complete soggy mess and fell apart when I picked it up. I could not taste the burger with the condiments over powering it. The fries I would give 4 stars, they were the best part of the meal.....although I prefer the burger to be the best part. Sorry, you do not live up to all the hype. I passed up the long line at In-N-Out 10 min away. I don't normally go to this location, but my impression of 5 Guys was high in my memory. The parking lot was full but there was no line. The peanuts were waiting which was my expectation. Everything was what I was expecting except for when we got the burgers; so I put the blame squarely on the cook. It was not like he was slammed so why couldn't he just put some love in to the burgers before wadding them up tightly into the paper wrapper. The velveta cheese was not even melted and he forgot to add the sauces on both. I was happy with the fries - they are salty and they leave the skin on. I don't like the fries at In-N-Out because they taste bland. My dream meal would be an In-N-Out burger with 5-Guys fries (Cajun). I think the price is more than In-N-Out so for what you get, just endure the longer line at In-N-Out because the end result is a much more satisfying meal. So to summarize, 3 stars + 1 more for the peanuts - 1 for a very adequate burger = 4 - minus my frustration at having passed up on In-N-Out = 3 Stars. Don't waste your time here if there is an In-N-Out nearby because they always gets 5-stars. read more

I just finished eating takeout. I ordered a burger with lettuce, grilled mushrooms and grilled onions and small fries. The burger was OK, better than Wendy's, better than In-N-Out, better than most I have had around here, but not as good as Islands. The meat does taste like meat from a butcher. Not really flavorful like ground sirloin but pretty good. The meat is thoroughly cooked without being dried out. The fries were really good and tasty. Sorry In-N-Out fans, but their burgers are a couple of rungs above roadkill and the fries are really weird. Five Guys is good when you have an occasional craving for a burger, but not for regular consumption. Lots of calories and saturated fat. I waited in line and it wasn't worth it. read more
