The spice level increased (still not too spicy), but a side of sauce (which you pay more than a $1 for) is now sent in a premade branded packet. Not in a "they're slammed" kind of way, there was just a really odd lack of acknowledgment throughout our entire meal. What's especially surprising is how many reviews mention great service, because that was definitely not our experience. I asked to taste a couple of different beers before deciding, which was totally fine, but after that it took forever to actually get someone's attention to order one. Once we finally got our beer, we were ready to order food, but again, no one acknowledged us. We waited patiently and eventually had to get someone's attention ourselves. We ordered the fish and chips and the pot roast French dip. The menu says the French dip comes with a choice of chips or salad, but our server never asked us which we wanted. We assumed chips were the default since the choice was never mentioned. When our food arrived, we didn't have any silverware. We asked the person who dropped off our food for some, and he seemed genuinely confused by the request. It took a while for him to bring us rolled silverware that was apparently already ready to go. We then asked about the chips with the sandwich. He went to the kitchen, came back with the ticket, told us it came with salad and that we needed to request chips, and then simply walked away. This was probably the most frustrating part because it would have been such an easy customer-service moment to handle differently. Chips aren't exactly an expensive or complicated item. A simple, "It actually comes with salad unless you request chips, but no problem I'll bring you some," would have completely changed the interaction. Instead, we were essentially told we were wrong and left it at that. After that, no one checked on us. I needed some extra malt vinegar and asked the bartender for it. He never brought it and never acknowledged the request again. What made the whole experience even stranger was that the people sitting around us seemed to be getting perfectly normal service. It just felt like we were somehow invisible. After we finished eating, our plates sat in front of us for a long time. Again, no one checked on us, asked if we wanted another drink, dessert, or anything else. I eventually had to physically push my plate toward the edge of the bar and ask for the check before we got any acknowledgment. I honestly can't remember the last time I experienced service that was this consistently odd and nonexistent. And unfortunately, the food itself wasn't anything particularly memorable either.
