Bacon Cheeseburger (top) Little Cheeseburger (bottom)
Sandy D.

While my brother was admiring and spewing his love for Five Guys as he was eating, I had my doubts. I ordered the Little Cheeseburger ($8.87), my brother ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger ($12.78), and we had a Large Cajun Fries ($7.91) to share. It was my first time having Five Guys, and I've heard many good things about this being people's favorite fast food burger. I know it's a fast food joint, but out of all the other places out there, Five Guys has the worst presentation. Fries were tossed into a tall soda cup and burgers were wrapped in aluminum foil. But that aside, my burger was pretty solid and the definition of a slobbery good burger! You can add unlimited toppings, so I added all the hot dog related toppings, and threw in tomato, lettuce, mushrooms!, and onions. Because of all the juice, the bun ends up getting soggy. As soggy as their fries! I had expected crispier fries, but their cajun fries are just potatoey. Not bad though, especially the more flavorful ones at the end. Once I finished, I knew that burger was heavyyy because it did not sit well. Never had I had a burger that made me feel this uncomfortable afterwards. Pricey and greasy, trying this once was good enough for me.

The first time I had Five Guys was like 10 years ago at the one in the village and I have a vivid memory of the meat being so burnt it was nearly inedible. Ever since, I avoided it. Throughout the years, I couldn't believe my ears when people would try to compare Five Guys to In-N-Out. That's like comparing Chips Ahoy to Levain. There was no contest. Fast forward to a week ago. I'm craving a burger (as per usual) and have come to know the best spots in my area to get them delivered from. Shake Shack, Burger UrWay, even my local deli makes a good one! But we'd had them so often that I was ready for a change. My bf suggested Five Guys. He had gotten it for himself a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. I figured what the heck, it's been 10 years, I'll give them a shot. [insert slow clap] Wow. That's right, I gave it a wow. It was so juicy, the tomatoes were so fresh, the cheese perfectly melted. It was also a double, and we can't figure out if that's how they always do it or we accidentally ordered it that way, but I wasn't complaining. I'm very excited to order it again the next time a burger craving creeps in. I will say though, the fries were not good -- way too greasy for my taste. And that's why In-N-Out will always win. But I *finally* get it. Maybe that burnt burger I had 10 years ago was an anomaly. *shrug*

Tasty burger... just not the way I ordered it.

Okay. Went to this spot in person. Waited for my order and watched them fill other orders. My fries were in the basket with another order of little fries. I watched the guy dump two little baskets of fries into the little fry order bag- then I (with a large fry that I intended to share) got half an extra scoop- and get home to find the cup was maybe 3/4 full. Lesson learned- little fries are bigger than large? Was it world ending? No. Just disappointing that I have to fight over fries now with a friend- that we'd both been looking forward to. (Yep. First world problems.)

I stoped in today for just a bag of their fries while on my walk. There was only 2 customers and it still took a good 5 minutes of me standing there watching the fry person stand there and do nothing. Regardless the fries were exactly what I expected and I was good to go! I need to stop in and order my double cheeseburger combo. Place was clean and everyone was friendly. Just slow

Service at this particular Five Guys location was on-point. My friends and I came here one weekend evening and there was an employee actively cleaning the store, wiping down tables and sweeping up trash. He later took the time to our about our days with a smile. The customer service industry needs more people like him. The food served here is on-par with every other Five Guys location that I've been to in the city. The burgers were delicious and flavorful. The unlimited toppings just added bonus points to my burger rating. Their "little" fries are more than enough fries for the average person. Get them cajun for no additional charge! My friend who ordered a bacon cheeseburger did not find any bacon in her burger, so she went up and told the cashier. They later realized that they ran out of bacon and threw in an extra order fries to compensate. Overall, definitely pay this Five Guys location a visit. Their food and service are both A1.

Mini burger, Cajun fries, root beer, peanuts

I was checking out Brooklyn when I came about Five Guys and wanted to check it out. I wasn't hungry at all but wanted the experience. The place looked like a combination of a Rally's and In n Out. The place was clean and the servers were polite. There are different burger sizes and choices of condiments you can choose from. It's kind of like I chose the mini burger with fries and a coke. They also offer free peanuts while you wait. After placing my order I was shocked that my meal was going to cost twice as much as my in N out burger combo. I ordered my burger to almost to the tee my In N Out burger would have been. The burger itself was pretty decent but the fries really sucked in my opinion. I ended up eating a quarter and threw the rest away. In all I would rate it this way: 1. In N Out = California / Las Vegas 2 Rally Burger = So California 3 Five Guys = New York / California

He did this for everyone. I am sure there is no way you can get this kind of service in the summertime because you can barely move in there. So I don't wanna let the secret out. The crif is pork and beef, New Yorker (all beef) and veggie option. I did a New Yorker (all beef) $4.75 with sauerkraut ($0.75) and the Spicy Redneck which featured a bacon wrapped crif dog with chili, coleslaw and picked jalapeños. Both satisfied the hot dog craving I had. There are also tater tots and burgers available. The bread was a bit stale, hence the 3 stars and the bun split on my New Yorker making it messy to eat. The woman behind the counter was friendly and suggested I try the dog featured this month- featuring a fried pickle or the Tsunami which has teriyaki sauce and pineapples. I would stop here again if in the area, but for basic dog a cart will hit the spot.

There are over a dozen creative configurations, including versions with potato cubes or rice cakes, each with its own quirky appeal. Once you choose your dog, there are 2 more steps: pick a dry topping (I chose cinnamon sugar, which added a sweet-savory contrast) & finish it off with sauces from a lineup that includes ketchup, mustard, gochu hot sauce, and sweet chili. My only wish is that there was actual seating (it's more of a grab-and-go spot) & the wall being wide open made it feel a bit drafty. Still, the food is worth it. Definitely a fun East Village stop if you're craving something indulgent & out of the ordinary.
