I prefer Five Girls, but this will do I suppose. These are truly some of the most overrated burgers in the country, and sure, compared to Wendy's and even Shake Shack they're good, but compared to real hamburgers (and there are many of them in our country) they are really bad, and they're also more expensive than a lot of real hamburgers, which is a crime, because these aren't very big. One of the problems is that a lot of people making them don't really want to be here, often 19 year olds who in some cases may not appreciate the concept of work or good service, which is fine, but in this case it definitely was true, and service was lacking. If my 5G obsessed College friend and former roommate drug (not drugged, but dragged) me in here and tried to drug (not dragged, drugged) me with these burgers, I guess that's my excuse for coming here. But it's passable, and the burgers usually aren't bad at Five Guys, but I perfect particularly did enjoy this experience, where the burger was somehow both undercooked and lukewarm.

We walked into a simple counter-service space with limited indoor seating, the kind of place that feels more like a grab-and-go stop than a sit-down lunch spot. Even with its small footprint, there was a steady stream of customers coming in for one of the signature sandwiches, and the energy of the room stayed practical and focused on getting orders out efficiently. The lobster roll is the clear standout. We ordered one and found it generously filled with lobster meat, making it feel substantial compared to many other lobster rolls around the city. Whether you choose it hot with butter or cold with mayo, the focus stays on the lobster itself rather than overwhelming it with extra ingredients. The toasted roll added just enough texture without taking away from the filling. Although the lobster roll gets most of the attention, the rest of the menu offers plenty of options if seafood is not what you are looking for. There are oversized sandwiches, soups like clam chowder, and classic sides that make it easy to find something for different tastes. The portions are generous overall, making the prices feel reasonable considering the amount of food you receive. The service was quick and efficient, which fits the fast-paced counter-service concept. The staff moved through orders with speed, and the food came out without much delay. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the limited seating, especially during lunch hours or peak tourist seasons in the North End. If the dining area is full, taking your food to go or finding a nearby outdoor spot can be a better option. Overall, Pauli's is a great stop if you are looking for a satisfying lobster roll without an overly formal seafood restaurant experience. The generous portions, straightforward menu, and convenient location make it an easy place to visit while exploring the North End, especially if lobster rolls are at the top of your list.

Sultan: The lamb was stewed for a long time until incredibly tender and melted in your mouth, with absolutely no gamey taste. Although it's called "sweet lamb", it didn't have a strong sweetness; instead, it had a typical mild, complex flavor of onions, cumin, coriander seeds, and other spices. The Yellow Rice was likely seasoned with turmeric and saffron, making it very flavorful. The basmati rice grains were distinct but not too dry, perfect for mixing with the sauce. The White Garlic Sauce wasn't overpowering; it mainly added a touch of acidity, which, along with the cool, sweet corn, helped to cut through the greasiness. Actually, it was completely different from any other Moroccan lamb stew I've had. It was more like Yemeni Mandi, but with more layers of flavor and a more universally appealing taste. As a fusion dish, how can it not be considered a success? This restaurant offered self-build options, but I was rushing to the World Cup Fan Festival and didn't even have time to look at the menu carefully. The staff quickly recommended dishes and adjusted the ingredients based on my preferences. Excellent service.

The beef was very soft, the mixed beans side was served cool but also quite good, generous sauces. Quick & friendly service and I think a reasonable price for the portion (1 order ~$15.50 fed two people for lunch). They also had a build-your-own bowl option where you could pick the protein (eg. chicken, tofu, beef, lamb, falafel), sauce (eg. white garlic, spicy harissa, etc), base (eg. couscous, yellow rice, cauliflower), and side (eg. mixed greens, corn, chickpeas).

Boomin' Beef Rendang: This was my first time trying rendang, so I can't comment on its authenticity, but I'm certain it was delicious. It's very similar to a typical Chinese home-style beef brisket stew, just with a subtle touch of coconut milk and curry. The beef was perfectly marbled with fat and lean, stewed until incredibly tender and flavorful; the thick sauce clung to the meat and permeated the rice, making every bite a rich and aromatic experience. The potatoes were soft and tender, and the green beans had a slightly crunchy texture, both perfectly balanced. It's worth mentioning that the meat portion was huge; nearly half-bowl in the picture was completely filled with beef. While it's not anything fancy, it was really satisfying to eat it quickly without worry. With a coupon from a delivery platform, it only cost $10+, making it excellent value. The supernova shrimp curry came with an abundance of shrimp and had a nice Thai curry sauce with just a slight kick. The spicy chicken karahi had a smoky, tangy flavor, but leaned a bit dry. I wish the chicken bowl included a sauce, as there was a lot of rice and green beans that lacked seasoning.

Nothing to write home about, but adequate. Onion rings were excellent. I've never had rings with whatever they used to fry it in, but it was fantastic. Truffle fries were great, as were the dipping sauces. My daughter liked her burger (she got the Hell's Kitchen Burger, sans avocado), medium rare. She's a tiny thing and usually can't eat an entire burger, but she inhaled the whole thing. The Bad: I am apparently very naive - I thought the vegan burger was something they made in house and was interested to taste the combo of veggies they use. Nope. It was just that over-processed, disgusting Beyond Burger, with terrifyingly oversalted tomatoes and lettuce. I have never looked forward to something and subsequently been so let down. I took it back to the hotel because I saw ducks and thought I'd feed them the bun. Service: was fine. He was sweet and was attentive. Ambiance: fine. It was upscale burger decor. I think I'd recommend going once just for the sake of saying I went to a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. But be aware one alcoholic beverage, one non-alcoholic beverage, and two burgers set me back $100 (including tip). I would not go back again though. It was not worth $100. But at least now I know I don't need to visit the Chicago one!

My Honest Review of Potbelly - 263 Washington Street…read more This is going to be a long review, so make sure you're sitting down for this. Visit #1 - (TLDR) Amazing Manager, Great Food, 5-Star Experience. Visit #2 - (TLDR) Rude crew worker, antagonistic, 2-Star Experience. Visit #1 A few days ago, I visited Potbelly for the first time as part of a comparison with Al's Cafe, which just opened near Sweetgreen. I had their Italian at the grand opening and then came to Potbelly which is my girlfriend's favorite spot to compare the two. We both expected Al's to win, but surprisingly, Potbelly was the better sub by a good margin. The ingredients tasted fresher, the sandwich had more balance, and the overall flavor was just better. But the thing that really stood out was the manager. Not only did he make my sandwich, but I also watched him give a homeless man a free small sub even though the guy asked for it in a disrespectful tone. The manager stayed calm, polite, and generous. He told me what people like the most, what he likes and was honestly just a vibe. That mattered to me. I work in customer service, so I care about character and attitude just as much as I care about food quality. The price for my large Italian sub that day was about $14.59, which felt totally reasonable for the area. Because of that experience, I told multiple people about Potbelly, and I even made a TikTok about the place that got 12k views. (Not much I know) That first visit was easily a 5-star experience. I would give 6-7 stars if I could. Visit #2 I came back again today specifically to confirm if my great experience was consistent before writing a review. Unfortunately, this visit was the opposite of the first. When I went up to order, the woman working the counter didn't look at me at all. When she finally did, she hit me with a dry: "Can I help you?" Not a greeting. No eye contact. Just attitude and I know attitude is subjective, but the tone felt like I was bothering her. I don't mean to be preachy. And I obviously know she's not racist. But being an African male in Boston you can feel when someone sees you in a certain light. Meanwhile, I watched her talk to other customers like: * explaining menu items * smiling * being attentive She didn't do any of this with me. The Menu Issue + Custom Order Problem I told her I wanted something different from the Italian I got last time and asked if they had pastrami. She sighed, looked annoyed, and told me: "Look at our menu." But the menu at this location is a giant wall poster with tiny text it doesn't help with custom orders at all. And from the very beginning, I clearly stated this was a custom order, so the menu wasn't going to answer my question anyway. While I was trying to think of an alternative, less than a minute later she said: "Sooo... what do you want?" She was rushing me like she just wanted me out of her way. The energy she gave me compared to how she treated others felt noticeably different. The Price Shock - $33.85 After I ordered, I got a surprise at the register: the total was $33.85 for a single large sub. Here's what I ordered: * salami * pepperoni * ham * turkey * roast beef That's only one extra meat compared to the Italian sub I got the first time. They charged me double turkey and double ham, but didn't actually give me double of either meat. They just charged for double. "Big" simply means the sandwich is the large size not double meat but what I got charged for was basically "two subs worth" of meat without actually receiving that. I only realized the price was $33.85 after paying. The Receipt Situation - Completely Unnecessary Attitude When I asked for my receipt, she said: "Oh, so now you want your receipt?" Then she added: "When I asked you earlier, why'd you say no?" This is when it went from "bad attitude" to "being confrontational." Like you should've heard the way she said it. I didn't ask for a receipt earlier because I didn't know the sub would be over $33. Once I saw the total, of course I wanted the receipt. There was no reason for her to turn that into a moment. I just spoke to my gf about it and this other woman and they've also had unpleasant experiences with her. The establishment is great. The food is superior in my opinion. And the manager is someone I'd have a drink with. But the woman I interacted with today was insufferable. And the only reason she still works there and gets away with it is because the manager is such a bundle of joy. And not everyone is going to write a review or even say anything because we all work and there's just no time for things like this. Thanks for reading. Hope this helps. Why does everyone say hope this helps now? Idk. I'm just joining in on it. Love yall.
