I don't get why people are gaga over Five Guys. Their burgers are cooked past the point of juiciness, and the toppings don't help. The fries are fine, but not good enough to make it a destination. The only distinguishing thing is their space-age soda dispenser with a ton of flavored corn syrup options. Two meh stars because it's not *awful*, but it's sad that I'd prefer a McDonald's/Wendy's/Burger King burger, and certainly a U-Burger over Five Guys. read more

Quick service, fresh food, they got my order right both times (I get weird toppings, so I kind of expected my burger to be wrong), and the fries are piping-hot fresh. It doesn't matter how many people pump through here, these guys keep it moving. This is a chain though so the food is what you would expect here; on par with the other chains. The restaurant look really ghetto inside. They have no combo meal deal here so you have to order each food individual. I got the hamburger, a large fries and a strawberry milkshake and it came out to about $16 bucks. That's pretty pricey compare to Wendy right across the street. Where you could get the same stuffs for under $10 under their combo meal. I like their burger but their fries are too soggy, cold and tasteless (no salt added). The staffs are pretty cool here and the foods came out really quick. read more

I'll say that with all the hype I've heard about them, I was disappointed. The food wasn't terrible but it also wasn't "great." In fact, I didn't think the sandwich tasted much better than a freshly made whopper. One thing I didn't like was that like McDonalds, you're burger is not made to order. You can't get it medium or well done. It's done how they cook it. I like my burgers well done but mine was more medium well. The burgers are expensive. $5 and some change for just a burger. No fries or anything. If you want bacon, that brings it up to about $7 and some change. For the price, i'd expect a little better. Toasted bun perhaps?? The fries are terrible. I've had the Cajun fries cause my coworkers were telling me how great they are. I swear, they must have taken the cap off the salt shaker cause the fries were flooded with Cajun salt and grease. I took my burger out the bag and the outside was covered in salt and grease was soaking through the bag that it was turning transparent. They just dumped the fries in the bag. Half of them were out of the container and at the bottom of the bag. Then they have 5 guys fries. I ask the cashier what are "5 guys fries" and he's like, "They're just regular fries." I have been to Five Guys next to College Park in MD. I love this place. This new branch next to Macy's in Downtown Boston is really clean! The food is tasty.. the service is great.. the bathrooms are clean.. the staff are extremely friendly! Love the Coca Cola touchscreen machines! I encourage you all to give it a try!! read more

I have been to this location twice and both times I have felt like my food took forever to make. The first time I went on a Sunday because I know downtown crossing is much slower on the weekends and I wanted to get in and out. I only ordered a milkshake and it took 8 minutes! Some of the employees were just standing around. The cashier had to tell the milkshake girl that I was still waiting. The milkshake was amazing but for $5 I thought it'd be bigger. I ate there because I read a lot of reviews about the restaurant with good notes. I ordered a Bacon Burger + small fries (it was really big). The price is reasonable, $8 for the burger + $3 for the fries. The burger wasn't succulent and juicy as the reviews and the fries was soggy. I was really disappointed. The ambience is clean, the interior looks like an industry in color black, white and red. No music. Employees dressed uniform I saw it in the open kitchen. They was polite and smiled. I went with my husband he ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger and his opinion as the same as mine. A lot os costumers take out the order and ate quickly. Nobody should get too caught up with over-the-top hype, you're bound to be disappointed. That said, for a national burger chain Five Guys is as good as it gets. The menu is limited, basic, to the point: burgers, dogs, fries, soda (from the new Coke Freestyle machines so you can have it your way). Sure, there's a grilled cheese, a veggie, and a cheese veggie, but what's the point? Burgers are top-notch. Cooked about medium to med-well but still juicy enough. Nice seasoning and very tasty. Many toppings available and all free. Soft sesame seed buns. NOTE: their regular burger is a DOUBLE, while their "little" is a single patty. Fries are EXCELLENT. Five Guys is justly proud of their fresh skin-on fries. They're cut just right and always cooked correctly...and yeah, you get a lot of 'em. Hot dogs are split and cooked on the griddle. They're not that big but an acceptable dog. Wish they offered sauerkraut. Space is clean, bright, with many potato sacks stacked around as part of decor. Staff is plentiful and friendly. Open kitchen is a blast to watch and listen to. Cheers to the staff for the energy they bring to their job. It's not easy. For fast food burgers this is as good as you can get. I took a fist full with my bare hands and shoved them down my throat, shell and all. it was then I realized I had a peanut allergy. I screamed and ran behind the counter and ripped a workers epi pen out of their pocket. Really upset with my dining experience here today. Maybe I'm biased because I've had great Five Guys around Washington and Virginia and they were amazing heart attack burgers that you could only have once every few months. But this...what I hold in my hand is glorified McDonalds. My first instinct walking in was dead on and when the person taking my order was eyeballing a girl to the right the whole time I was telling him my order should have been my first clue and should have left immediately. I got my burger hoping that the first burger I've had from here in a few years was going to be amazing and launch me into a food coma 30 mins after....but sadly no. As much as everyone else I talk to loves Five Guys.. I just don't. It's a very messy loud hot atmosphere. There's peanut shells all over the floor. The tables are dirty. And the food is over priced. I had just come home after a flight, thought Five Guys was open until 11pm and walked over to finally eat dinner. I saw they closed at 10PM and it was 9:54, so started to turn around. The man at the front started to wave me in. I walked in and said, "if you've started cleaning then I will be very happy to eat somewhere else, I'd hate to have you mess things up if you've started closing". The man very enthusiastically told me they would be happy to make my food, and when I insisted in asking about them cleaning he nicely replied, "don't worry about that, we don't even start cleaning until 10PM sharp". I ordered and right as the cook threw my burgers on, suddenly realized I'd left my wallet in my luggage. The cashier-again very politely-told me to take my time and go home to get it, the food would be ready when I returned. I rushed home and back, and when I returned the cashier was waiting with my food, a smile, and gave me the extra fries. I cannot say enough how friendly and wonderful the staff were. I have to agree with anyone who said they just don't get it. There's a Five Guys that's been less than 2 miles from me for years and I finally checked it out. Two cheeseburgers, two small fries and two shakes - $42. The cheese on the cheeseburgers tasted like that processed cheese food crap that comes in single wrap packages - totally tasteless. I checked the toppings and there was so little lettuce and onions I thought they got the order wrong. I had a piece of lettuce (one and one only) about the size of a large postage stamp. The fries, one regular and one Cajun were almost too salty to eat and the shakes were the smallest I've ever had. Again, my coffee shake had so little flavor I swapped with my wife because I thought it was chocolate. It's a big step up from McDonalds or Burger King, neither of which I have visited in more than 30 years but for overcooked burgers, tasteless cheese, skimpy toppings, grossly over-salted fries and teeny weeny shakes... never again. read more

not compared to my usual five guys at my station landing in Medford, food is good, customer service traffic is ok. my BIGGEST TURN OFF, I will have to say, I was stopping in for a late dinner, after coming from taking care of some business at the lower end of downtown, I walked past it and see a gentlemen smoking, that's what caught my attention that there was a five guys place here! decided to turn around to go in for a bite to eat. no one was there for nearly a minuet and change, turn out the same man that was smoking outside was the gentlemen who worked there. he comes in and immediately gets on the register. was I expecting that? not at all but I will tell you what if I heard "excuse me miss, one moment ill be right with you" would have been better than just jumping back in the flow. last time I checked any time you return to work, you should clean your hands. I was soo hungry I continued and proceeded to order, hoping he would stop and go wash his hand, EVEN AFTER MY ORDER. no, he continued taking orders, even a back up to follow protocol could have been done, he even began assisting with the number calling and food prep. I didn't want to be disrespectful and offset the environment, I will say he did use gloves but still, when dealing with food its not too sanitary. The best burgers I've ever had (keep in mind I've never been to In-N-Out). Service can be slow at busy times, but that's to be expected.
