What more can I say that hasn't already been said about Five Daughters - it is simply the best! The donuts are not-your-average donut: so flaky, so many layers, so many flavors. They even have breakfast sandwiches and other menu items for non-donut lovers. During this particular visit, I went for one of their Valentine's-themed donuts and a birthday cake donut. The Valentine's donut was sweet and fresh. The birthday cake donut blew my mind - the buttercream frosting wasn't overly sweet, but had the perfect mixture of sweet and salty flavors to accompany the flaky donut itself. Love the donuts we had. The purist was amazing. The line was served fast! Loved the shops surrounding it and the atmosphere.

This location is in a little indoor renovated warehouse type building. It's a small little space for their bakery though but not hard to find. With white subway tiles and donuts on display, this place is cute! The donuts are thick and you could probably only eat one by yourself at one go, causing me to question how many calories I consumed. I will commend the fact that they have paleo options, vegan (I think), and cookies ( some of which are gluten free). There was already a line to the door when I got here with my family around 11:30 ish but the line went fast. My family and I got the cranberry pear donut, a Mexican hot chocolate one, maple donut, and a gingerbread donut. We also got two cookies: chocolate chip and a chocolate cookie with confectioners sugar sprinkled over it. It was all very good and flavorful! The flavor ideas are great and worthy of another trip. The Mexican hot chocolate was absolutely perfect with cayenne on top, you could taste the heat in just one bite. The marshmallow sauce on it complimented it quite nicely. The gingerbread donut may have been vegan and tasted a little lacking, though it had a slight heaviness to it. I love the cranberry pear! Interesting and fun! The cookies were good though nothing special. I will say the price point won't have me coming back too often. $4.50 per donut seemed like a lot. Maybe the ingredients or the high standard of living in Nashville reflected this but it seemed like too much. I'll come back but probably not all the time. But this is something to check out when you're nearby! Not sure how busy their other locations get but coming to the one in Franklin is a nice alternative instead of driving into town. read more

SELECTION: You have to get there early if you want more options!! As the day goes the section dwindles. MY PICK: I don't like the super sweet ones so a cheesecake type filling is my preference. Currently the Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake is my jam. I've been two weekends in a row bc I can't get enough of it!! CAMERA:!! I heard all the locations have a cam or something online so you can what they have before you make the trek over - this is brilliant!!!! TIP: Don't forget to grab napkins! It's messy!! Aren't the best things to eat always messy though? The messier the better! I saw they also offer salads I believe which is a nice and healthy counter-option! I'm sure they are good also as this place doesn't disappoint!! The Factory is slamming busy on the weekends and especially Saturdays when the market is going on so parking can be a bear. My son sent me 14 assorted flavor donuts for my birthday; 12 were delicious, but the apple fritter & the orange one (that I can't remember the name of, but it was an unusual shape) I do not recommend-the apple fritter was dry & had very few apples in it, & the orange one had no orange flavor at all. The rest of the flavors-lemon, maple, berry, salted chocolate, cookies & cream, etc., were all very flavorful, but so rich I could only eat 1/4 donut at a time. Honestly, I feel these are slightly overrated. Maybe it's just that I'm from NY and we have things like this already. We tried the bacon and the cinnamon cream cheese cronuts. They were ok... very sweet and dense. I was expecting to be dying over it and it just wasn't that amazing. I was most disappointed by the chocolate frosted donut. The donut itself was good but the chocolate had zero flavor. I've never had flavorless chocolate before in my life. The best thing we had was the simple , purist glazed donut. The two bakery items we received this afternoon, were all but inedible. I was told the chocolate frosted donut I ordered was custard inside. It was not. It tasted a little lemoney, but not in a good way. The chocolate frosting was so thick as to be difficult to chew with little to no flavor. This shop is in Liberty Hall, which itself is a super cool mix of independent and unique shops. Five Sisters gots that mold and if you peruse the pictures, you can see how special their donuts are. My crew of five were all sold on the same choice, Smores, which is their most popular choice and best seller. It was decadent, rich and had an amazing graham cracker cream in the center that elevated the flavor to new heights. Why not five stars, well it is just a bit pricey but you will OT be disappointed in the flavors. Okay...everybody sing along, "To all the sweets I loved before; I now have found baked treats galore. Their Cronuts are so fine, my belt is sure to bind, and so I must undo it more....(apologies to Willy Nelson) Alas, indeed, I have found another "undoing" of my voluntary dietary and physiologic vestment restraints. This clash of calories and conscience comes in the guise of Five Daughters Bakery and their croissant-donut crossover "Hundred Layer Donut." We had members of our family visiting from out of town and took them to The Factory for an impromptu visit and tour. Knowing that one adult member of our clan has an insatiable sweet tooth--especially for donuts, we restrained him slightly, and briefly walked through Five Daughters, promising to come back to sample their artfully crafted fare. After wandering the halls of the "mall," we returned to Five Daughters and bought two cronuts, a "King-Kong" (Maple/Bacon) and a Boston Creme. Splitting the King-Kong Maple/Bacon 7 ways was fairly easy. It's pillowy-soft center topped with crispy pieces of bacon split amicably for all to share. On the other hand, the über soft and chewy (in the best possible way) Boston Creme was a little more of a challenge, its overstuffed sweet, ooey gooey center finally, albeit reluctantly, gave way to our efforts. At last, we stepped up to the task at hand and sampled both of these delectable, decidedly decadent, kicked-up-a-notch, multi-day in the preparation, hundred-layer donuts. Simply Irresistible! On on impulse, we decided to hold an impromptu picnic in the comfy chairs of the center gathering area of The Factory and sent scouts out to other sections of this "indoor mini-mall" to retrieve other goodies to share. We also returned to Five Daughters to refill our improvised basket, this time with repeats of the first two, as well as a sweet and creamy-topped Cookies and Cream, a Lemon-Curd filled Raspberry-iced gem, and an everything but the kitchen sink "Somebody's Mama's" Cookie lumpily loaded with chunks of fruit and chocolate chips..."yum-a-licious." Every bite was a delight, and every flavor a joy to savor. On the down side...the cake donuts (which we did not try) looked a bit dry and unappetizing. But the Hundred Layer Donuts are well worth every penny they charge and a repeat visit...just as soon as I can get back into this belt. read more

This is a cute, little quaint spot in downtown Franklin. It's like a little cottage for tea and bakery items. It's cutely decorated, and they offer a variety of teas/coffees and lots of sweet goodies. The staff is always friendly and quick to give you the order. This is the perfect spot for a little get-together with a friend or relative. However......the desserts are just not that great. I've ordered about 6 things now, trying different things. I have just not really enjoyed any of them, minus the almond croissant (which is lovely). We tried the gluten-free cupcake, which the cake part was surprisingly good, BUT the frosting tasted like plain Crisco with no sugar or sweetness at all. I'm HOPING this was a mistake and not the typical frosting. Frosting is gluten-free in nature, so it doesn't need to taste like a spoonful of crisco. While we were happy they offer a GF option, this was really gross. We have also tried the PB bomb, muffins, and macrons. The same thing with the macrons, they tasted odd and not very sweet. I would love to see them update their outdoor space because this could be a darling little spot to sit outside and sip a spot of tea, but now it's a little run-down outside. However, there are some really good things about this place, like the indoor atmosphere, the good coffee/tea, the precious little china tea cups, and the friendly service. read more

We each chose a donut and then split them. I chose the chocolate and sea salt and he chose the vanilla cream. The vanilla donut had a cream cheese center and the chocolate had an almost chocolate mousse feel. Both donuts were delicious and should not be missed. Not gonna try to describe this time the near-paralysis that strikes as your turn to approach the counter finally arrives & you must choose from an infinite array of delicacies that which you intend to consume on this visit. It's too bad this isn't like a modern ice cream parlor, where they expect you to sample several flavors before settling on your order, but I suspect the daughters' Dad knows most of us would ask to sample everything then be too full to buy more. I couldn't choose which cronut I wanted this time around, & the collective desires of the crowd in line behind me was almost palpable & growing with each moment I lingered, so I called an audible & went with a kouign-amann? Pretty sure it was layers of the cronut dough sprinkled with coarse demerara but baked in a muffin pan so that the top was pretty crispy.
