I cannot recommend Five Daughters enough! This location in particular is inside an old factory that has been restored and houses several shops, bakeries, and community areas. The donuts are known for their "100 layers" and are so light, flavorful, and delicious! We ordered several to try and were elated to find them all fantastic! I appreciated that they also offered "tiny" options of their seasonal flavors for someone who may not want the full size, and they also had paleo options (gluten free, refined sugar free). We got the King Kong which is maple glazed with bacon on top but there is an ever so slight layer of cream inside one of the layers. Don't think of it as a cream filled donut. You know when you get a random text from a friend that says "hey I was thinking about you and wanted to say that I appreciate you"? That's a thoughtful friend who just put a smile on your face. That's what the cream on the inside of this donut is saying. "Hey I know you don't necessarily need this but I wanted your tongue to have a pleasant surprise because I was thinking of it". Only reason I don't give 5 stars is I have to come back multiple times typically to try all of the flavors as they run out quickly. I try to check the donut cam before I go but the angle is a bit weird so you can't see all of them. Also I still am really not a fan of the greasiness of the buttercream fillings. This place has incredible offerings. You can see the process of making everything through a window and then see the beautiful finished products on display in the store front. Their breakfast foods are amazing too- best biscuit sandwich I've ever had. The only reason it's getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because I've been made to feel dumb by employees on multiple visits. I know not everyone has tact when conversing with others, but I've been treated less than ideally there. Typically this happens when they're out of an item that's advertised on a sign and the employee has probably been asked about it a thousand times. My suggestion would just be to take down the sign instead of making a customer feel stupid for asking. But most of the time the employees are friendly and the food is great. read more

They're filled with a lovely sweet custard but super thick and a little hard to eat in one setting. Priced over $4 per donut so it's less likely you'll buy more than 2. Furthermore, there are regular breakfast items like fried eggs and salad. But, back to the donuts... I was in sweetness HEAVEN! We went early, around 8:30-9am because, supposedly, it gets super busy and the line flows through the doorway. Lucky for us, we were the only customers there upon arrival! I ended up getting two donuts, the bacon donut and the coconut donut. I could only eat half in one sitting because they were just SO sweet! This place was adorable inside and out. From the kid friendly area out front, photo op walls, and cases of beautiful donuts I was immediately in love with this donut shop. We quickly filled the place but with the ability to see all the types of donuts made decisions quick. The staff was extremely friendly and patient as everyone picked out their sweets and paid. I opted for the brownie donut and OMG sooo good! I wish I had split a whole dozen with someone so I could've tried many more flavors but I'll definitely go back next time I visit Nashville. And that something is the 100 Layer Doughnut....yes, let that sink in a minute. Think of it as a flakier, layer version of a traditional doughnut. More like a croissant I'd compare it to. And stuffed with a melt in your mouth cream filling. These things are huge and rich, one is plenty, but c'mon, I had to test about 4 out to be fair when selecting my favorite flavor. I tried the staple Vanilla Cream (yes, I'd come back for more) and from the seasonal flavors I had Cookies & Cream, Triple Strawberry, and Lemon Blueberry. All were sinfully good and can easily be substituted as a dessert as much as it is a breakfast item. Five Daughters Bakery also offers made-to-order breakfast sandwiches if you are looking for more savory than sweet. Everything is baked fresh in the morning, but not refilled thorough the day we were told so when they run out that's it. We love this place, and have celebrated several special occasions with their pastries. The cronuts are very rich. And if it's your first time, I recommend the vanilla cream. As I bit into this soft, elegant concoction, a burst of maple buttercream frosting engulfed my tastebuds. Instead of the traditional doughy mass to which we've all grown accustomed, you find an intricate latticework of heavenly pastry with the consistency of the finest croissant. What further sets it apart is the ample dusting of sugar on the exterior, and the freshly whipped cream on the interior. I don't usually enjoy filling in doughnuts, but this delicate moderately-flavored surprise so perfectly complements the overall flavor that it deserves the title of masterpiece!
