As a long-time Brentwood resident, I've wanted to try IveyCake ever since they relocated from Franklin in 2017! As luck would have it, we celebrated my mother-in-law's 80th birthday with a towering custom cake from IveyCake. And let me tell you. Owner Ivey Childers makes a mean cake! They are literally works of art made by a creative decorator who demands perfection and uses the finest ingredients. The cake is very dense, what our family considers to be the ultimate texture for a cake. The frosting is super thick and very sweet. You can't eat too much at one time, which is probably a good thing. We had hoped for some sort of confirmation email to let us know the cake was finished. So we showed up on faith alone hoping the cake was ready for our celebration, and there it was! Whew! I had heard good things about this bakery in Brentwood so when I was preparing to throw my baby sister a surprise party for her 50th birthday, I reached out to them to inquire about a custom cake. They were prompt with their responses and very helpful in placing my order. I dropped off ribbon and flowers to add to the cake and they did such a beautiful job. I was ecstatic with how the finished product turned out. My reason for not giving 5 stars is I wished they would have explained the importance of refrigerating the cake. It had started to melt/sink before the event which was really disappointing. They put a sticker on the back of the box with instructions but I never looked at the back. I would recommend to the store owner that they place the sticker on the front of the box for us newbie customers. Other than that, the cake was great! Beautiful and delicious! New mom here... I was preparing for my son's first birthday and had spaced on ordering a cake (also I had no idea on standard custom cake turnaround time). I called early in the week and asked about ordering a cake. They mentioned the turn around time is normally a couple weeks but they do sometimes have ready made cakes on hand. I stopped in a few days later and grabbed the ONLY non chocolate cake left. The cake was beautiful and they even wrote a birthday message on it. We also grabbed some mini cupcakes and a regular cupcake as a sort of smash cake. The cake flavor was delicious, everyone loved it! The full size cupcake had an interesting flavor more akin to a sweet cornbread but was still good. The cake was okay which is why it's getting 2 stars but they totally ruined my gender reveal. We were told That they would not color the cake inside, instead for a gender reveal they use colored frosting on the inside. We had written an email with instructions very clearly stating that if it were a girl we'd want pink frosting, and if a boy then blue frosting. Today during our party and big reveal, we found white icing when we cut open the cake. With lemon cake, it was Impossible for anyone to know what the gender was. I had check the paper from the doctor to confirm the gender. This was so disappointing considering we have one opportunity to get our first reactions to this news (our first baby too) to share with our friends and family. When we called to let them know of the mistake, they offered a $10 refund. I would not recommend using this bakery for a gender reveal. I had assumed this was something they did as there are many pics online, so it's Incredibly frustrating that they couldn't get this right. $10 wont fix the event and the entire photo/video opportunity. One afternoon I was in the mood for a cupcake and wanted to try somewhere new (go figure), so I decided this time I'd try Iveycake. I made the trek out to Brentwood anxiously waiting what I'd find in store. Luckily when I got there I was the only customer, but unfortunately I only had a limited selection of cupcakes to choose from (and this was on a Thursday afternoon). When I saw the pricing of each cupcake I slightly winced, but I decided to still give them a try. I ordered four cupcakes, each a different flavor, and headed back home. Later that evening after dinner I decided to try two of the cupcakes. It's safe to say that I am definitely a frosting girl, and while others may not be, these cupcakes certainly lacked in the frosting department. But I wanted to see how they tasted. I took a couple of bites, and sadly I was disappointed. They were just blah cupcakes. Nothing spectacular--which was not what I expected for the price of them. Huge thanks to Iveycake for doing an amazing job on my bf's custom birthday cake! I inquired to 5 different bakeries for a cake and all quoted in the $200 range. Iveycake was able to give a MUCH more competitive price for a cake that was probably just as, if not more, delicious than the other options. I ordered a round cake with vanilla and chocolate flavors with peanut butter frosting layers and asked for a custom wine bottle topping made out of fondant. The end product came out better than I imagined, and all of the guests raved about how tasty it was. Icing on the cake (pun intended) was the prompt and very friendly service. Review is for special order cake. I am very picky about cakes because I love them and have had many cakes from many places and also baked many cakes. I have a high standard! I got a customized birthday sheet cake from Iveycake. The ordering process was easy...I stepped into the store and looked through their book and instagram pictures. I picked out a design based on an instagram photo. The cake in the photo was absolutely beautiful with very creative use of colors for flowers and greenery on the cake. I decided I wanted those colors and types of flowers on the cake. I did buttercream fondant icing and chocolate cake. Taste: The taste was on point. The chocolate cake was very fudgy...a different texture, but it was very moist and stayed great for days after we initially cut it. The icing was thick and wonderful buttercream flavor. The cake and icing went together very well! I wanted some of the icing on every bite of cake I had. All of my work colleagues loved it also. Appearance: This is where Ivey fell a little short. The colors that I picked out were not the colors that were delivered...the shades of pink and green were quite different making the cake look more like a child's cake than an adult cake. If this was for a really important occasion, I probably would have said something. If I get a cake from there again, I will make sure to emphasis the colors...that is what I thought was going to make the appearance really special. Also, I think the actual cake didn't bake to the same level over the entire cake because there was much heavier icing on sections...you could only see this when you cut the cake, but people noticed. Moved here a year ago. Needed to find a new local bakery - I like a beautifully done cake for celebrations and entertaining. I had heard such wonderful things. Easy to order via email and pay online. Cake was beautiful. Just as I ordered. 9" round vanilla/vanilla. Covered in rosettes. Very excited. Icing was delicious. However I am very disappointed in the cake itself. Very crumbly and dare I sat over done? Confession: I don't get the cupcake craze. There are all these cupcake stores sprouting up faster than cookie-cutter subdivisions. I've never been impressed by cupcake bakeries until I had IveyCake. Unlike most cupcake stores, IveyCake focuses on the cake part, or at least cares about making it really really good. Instead of putting a small, mediocre cupcake at the bottom of a pound of frosting, IveyCake has about 10 different cake choices and wonderfully paired frostings. They've given fun relationship-themed names to each combo, such as Gold Digger, Bad Kisser, Crazy Ex, and Big Dreams. The staff is helpful, plus it's fun to ask the owner questions like, "Tell me about your Crazy Ex. Should I try that?" Skip the other cupcake places and give IveyCakes a shot. I've even had them at weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. They're always a crowd pleaser. Tip: Arrive early to get the best selection. I was never a fan of cupcakes until I discovered Sprinkles (when I lived in California) but still I only wanted to eat the BEST cupcakes. My coworker was having her last day and I wanted to get cupcakes so I looked up places and decided to try Iveycake. They were amazing and my co workers loved them. A few months later... I work with dogs and it was my dogs Birthday so I wanted to get custom cupcakes I figured because Iveycake is so good it would be too expensive I looked around and none of the other places sounded right. I went to the Franklin location to ask questions they were very helpful and it turns out I think IveyCake ended up costing the least. Everyone thought they were super cute and they were delcious a few of my coworkers have confessed to going there multiple times after trying them at work. So in short they have great customer service (at both locations), too many options, custom options for parties or just for fun. Everything is good so far my favorite might be the mint one its just like eating chocolate chip mint ice-cream. The owner is exactly what you would expect the owner of a cute cupcakery to be like. The cupcakes are phenomenal. Like one of the previous reviewers said, Iveycake actually pays attention to the cake part. They even have great names for the cupcakes: "The Crazy Ex", "The Bad Kisser", "Hot Mess". The whole place has that sense of cutesy Southern humor that I'm usually not fond of, but in a cupcake shop it's perfect!
