Fun atmosphere, good food, an overall vibe. I love the ambience, the surrounding area is beautiful and so is the location.

I absolutely love this restaurant/club on a Friday night after a long week. The vibe is always great and the patrons are mature. First, the food is delicious! My go to are the shrimp although it's pricey for 4 shrimp they are delicious. Second, the downstairs club is always a hit. They have a live band for the most part and a dj in between. I normally don't like listening to live bands, but they have searched and found some of the best bands in H-Town to perform. In between sets and at the end of the night there's a dj that will keep you dancing. Thirdly, there's a dj and another club upstairs that's adjacent to the cigar room. The dj takes you back then bring you up and keeps you on your feet. "Jamming!!!" This is my favorite section of the club. I'm not a cigar smoker, but if you are then you will be impressed and they do sell cigars. Although it can get crowded at times, it's always a good vibe. Lastly, they do offer a private section for parties. Now for the bars!! There's a bar in each section making great drinks!! I want to send a shoutout to "E" one of the downstairs bartenders. He gets it right every time! Now for the cons parking is a nightmare! Do not park in the shopping center parking lot are you will be towed! Read the street parking signs too or you will be towed! You've been warned!! They do offer valet for $20. Finally, they keep the downstairs doors locked which for me is a fire safety hazard. If anything happens you will not be able to exit into the courtyard from the first floor middle section because the doors are locked. As far as dress code well I believe in dress to impress, but can wear jeans, flats, shorts, heels, etc. Whatever you're feeling then go with it. This was my first time here and the atmosphere was very nice. What I didn't like was ordering drinks from a bartender with dreads who had been drinking himself. He was forgetting orders and allowing people to walk up and order in front of people that had been waiting a long time. He also charged me 20.00 for tequila and cranberry juice which I think is expensive or he was just.. drunk. This is a restaurant waiting to be closed. I sat next to one of the owners and he was loud and cursing in causal conversation. I was offended. The salad I had was horrible, the chicken was under cooked. The waitress brought the undercooked chicken before the meal. I asked for a double dirty martini. The waitress said" we are out, but the bartender will look for for olives "...... she came back with a plain martini. Yuck! It was so loud with two different areas playing music at the same time. I came here with a couple of my girlfriends to have a quick bite to eat. We discovered this place has other bars outside of the restaurant and we stopped by a very quaint bar in the back. We were greeted by our bartender Laura or Lauren and I must say she was amazing. It was such a pleasure to meet and be served by her. What was most impressive was the way so many people would stop to say hi or just literally sit and have a drink with her. She handles the area so well and its such a sight to see a bartender give everyone the same amount of love and respect. We were planning on staying for a few hours since we arrived around 6:30. Okay. We came here for a birthday celebration. Our overall experience was not the best. Appetizers were decent. We tried the shrimp, meatballs, wings, and seafood cakes. I had high hopes since the apps were ok. The only one I did not like was the wings. So we order our food. I got creole salmon. Was not happy with it, at all. It was very dry. My drink (tropical storm) was not good at all. Noone was excited about their food. Once it was time to pay the bill, it was a headache. They do not allow you to split the bill if its 10 are more people. This was very inconvenient. I recommend they all is guest to split tickets. This would make things so much easier. I personally wouldn't recommend the restuarant section. Were going check out the live music section. We'll see how that goes. read more

This restaurant recently had some issues with social distancing but I see they are trying very hard. Their food is delicious. I tried their fried chicken and is very crispy. I also tried their gumbo; one of the best in the city. My only complaints is the servers are very slow. The bartenders take too long to prepare the drinks. It could only be a shortage of servers. I probably will continue to support them but will take the food to go. Parking is a challenge. read more

1 thing I've notice is customers have lack of respect during this time. I've seen and heard bartenders and servers telling customers to put their mask on and yet they looked confused like "there's not a pandemic going on" all I have to say about this place. For Upper Kirby Bistro to be open and willing to take guest in during this time is amazing. The drinks are spot on! Thanks to Alyssa for my awesome lemon drops, and my Henny Mojito! We received excellent service and accommodations from the Valet, to the Hostess, and Beautiful Toshairra who sealed our wonderful experience while dining. You can take the service out the hood but you can't take the hood out of the service. Came to this restaurant with my friend after hearing it was a nice new edition to the posh Upper Kirby area for happy hour. The ambience and esthetic of the bar and dining area was chic and inviting. Parking is limited so I would suggest valet or uber if you live close by. Our server was very professional with a pleasant personality. Drinks and appetizers were discounted for happy hour, however the menu selection seemed closely familiar to other establishments I have been to before. For example, my friend got the Crispy Asian Shrimp which tasted like a knock off appetizer from PF Changs. I ordered the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and the Lavender Lush cocktail. The Brussel sprouts were alright, and the cocktail was a weaker and less exciting version of Taste Bar Kitchen's Lavender Blueberry Margarita. Their Mango margaritas were nice. Just after me and my friend started another round of drinks one floor manager came over and made small talk as if they were friendly and genuinely checking on us but then asked us to leave or explore other parts of the establishment because they had a reservation for our table. Two things about this was tacky customer service to me. 1. There was another table open in the same section where we were. 2. We did not seat ourselves at the table, we actually preferred the bar, but the hostess sat us at the table suggesting it was more comfortable. I think a "Reserved" table card should have been put on the tables if they were not for Happy Hour patrons. All of this is upsetting because it seems like we were rushed off as if we had been there longer than 1.5 hours. I have been to happy hours with friends and our happy hour turned into 2-3hours of fun because we were still ordering drinks and food and have never been asked to leave. The floor managers demonstrated poor time management and scheduling. I will stick to establishments who are organized, have original tasty menus, and welcome paying patrons trying to unwind after a long week. read more

Went here for brunch, it can easily be a 5 star dining experience if the hosts & servers can get training on how to be welcoming and provide good service to the customers. Mannerisms go a long way in these roles and it just wasn't present in this place. I told my date that maybe it was because they're young but that's no excuse! Especially when one of the owners came by & encouraged us to come back & check out the other venues attached! We'd love to support our people further but there is a lesson to be learned in the bistro. My date literally asked if I knew the server from past instances, that's how standoff-ish and rude she was. I'm extremely confused by the good reviews on this place. Absolutely no parking and our friend had his car broken into that did decide to valet. The service was awful and all of the other tables around us were annoyed. I saw two tables actually leave. Food was cold as well. Are they giving out coupons for good reviews... I'm that confused. O M G - THE best fried chicken I've EVER had and I don't even like fried chicken. This was the perfect comfort food plate. The greens were awesome and the mashed potatoes were fabulous. Some French fries w a very salty sauce. We had 3 in our party. We ordered two of the same thing and they tasted totally different. Half of mine was burnt when it was suppose to b medium rare. On top of the meal not being worth what we paid, not what we were anticipating at all, they added a 20% gratuity to our bill automatically. Never go on NYE. My friends an I Paid $85 for a "VIP with Dinner" NYE experience, however, there was high level false advertisement!!! There was no reserved seating and the dinner (buffet) was horrible!! Further more it says a lot when your crowd right after the NYE count down.. I thought Houston had it popping on the upscale but we had elegant trash!! I'm not from here so yes I have experience. I lived all over the world and the continental United States..
